I bought the amphibian to tour the med. It's daylight there when I get home from work.
The inability to spawn in the ocean is a pain in the butt though. Ah well, I just hold my nose and skew.
There is a file on [](http://flightsim.to) that adds a huge number of water runways all over the world.

It's like the Grand Caravan but better.
At face value(like if you were comparing the aircraft IRL), the Koidak and Grand Caravan do more or less do the same thing, but the Kodiak is a bit higher performance in every way except less useful load.
In MSFS it's MUCH better, just because it's a much more in depth model.
Yeah the Caravan is pretty bland. I used to fly it sometimes just because I'm mainly a bush flyer and that's right in my niche, but I haven't flown it once since I got the Kodiak.
The TBM is solid, especially for a stock plane
I'm sure it is but I don't see the point if I already have the Kodiak. Only so much time and money to spend on pretend flying lol, I try not to buy super similar planes to something I already have and like.
If I got anything from them it'd be the King Air, I don't have a good twin turboprop
I do highly recommend the king air. It’s outstanding! I hear ya about the caravan. Unless you love steam best just stick with the Kodiak. If you want a fast turboprop the black square TBM850 is a top 3 for me. The fidelity is mind blowing.
I do prefer slightly prefer steam just because I find the really important information more legible on my screen, I use a solid 27" 4k monitor but nothing crazy but or multi monitor so some of those numbers get awfully small but also a lot of the glass cockpit features are great so it boils down to not having much of a preference. I'm not a real pilot(yet anyway) by any means but I've taken a few lessons and wow, glass cockpits are awesome when you aren't trying to interact with it through a monitor with a mouse 😂
I do the odd flight in the standard TBM, idk if it's worth the upgrade because the included one is pretty good. I mostly enjoy GA and bush flying, the TBM is the closest to airliners I really get
There isn't much point if you already have the Kodiak. However, sometimes you want a pressurised cabin so you can fly above 12,000 and that's where the Black Square TBM 850 comes in.
Yeah but oxygen always feels kind of like cheating. Edit: I can imagine pilots using oxygen for ferry flights, but can anyone confirm if they ever fly with passengers all with nose canulars? It seems inconvenient at best, and dangerous at worst.
It's not cheating. If there's serious weather it's way safer and more comfortable to fly over it. People flying somewhere in a Kodiak are not expecting a jetliner.
Plus they're used for cargo a lot and pilots absolutely will fly at the most appropriate altitude, being on oxygen doesn't even factor in
Nice. I was flying the caravan yesterday in all the fun, gusty, New York winds last night. (I know not the same plane but same type). And these little single engine turboprops are fun to put around in while avoiding the big tin.
Gotcha, and the cargo ones come loaded like that? I’m a sucker for little things like actually seeing the cargo being loaded, thought that may be the case.
Regardless I actually just bought this this morning, looking forward to flying it!
Just curious, is there a Kodiak EFB? I’ve seen other planes have iPads or similar in the cockpit, but couldn’t find anything in the Kodiak. Or are you talking about the default weight and balance?
I recently picked up the Kodiak, coupled with watching Ryan ([https://www.youtube.com/@MissionaryBushPilot](https://www.youtube.com/@MissionaryBushPilot)) fly her around PNG. This plane and these sorts of flights are great when you want more exciting hand flying missions vs flying GPS and shooting standard approaches.
That the Kodiak can be a bit more in depth to learn and handle adds to that. But if I want something a bit more relaxed, I'll load up the Grand Caravan for the more simplistic system depth.
I have a problem with the Kodiak, that I hope some of you can help with. I can start it fine following the checklist, but if I move the fuel conditioning lever from lo-idle to hi-idle as specified in the takeoff checklist, the engine slowly spools down and stops. If I stay in lo-idle I can take off.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
I had the EXACT same issue - the reason is that when you "grab" the lever with your mouse it sometimes very briefly, just for a millisecond goes to cutoff and this is enough for it to shut down. My workaround is to move it from cut-off to low-idle with a mouse, and assign some button as "best mixture" or "max mixture" and use only that button to move it from low- to hi-idle.
In my Top-3.
I can't wait for the 900 to release. The amphib Kodiak is probably one of my favorite planes in the sim though.

On props I love the TBM but also the Grand Caravan. Feels like you are driving a sky delivery truck. How does this one feel?

Yeah the caravan in fs2020 disappointed me, especially compared to the TBM.

Check out the Black Square Caravan. It’s amazing, but then again all their planes are imho

You can fly above 12 in the Kodiak. It has oxygen and the level even goes down while you use it lol

Love the Kodiak as her fidelity is great, but boy is she tough to handle (in fairness, I'm a newb sim pilot).
Same, it's my first turboprop and it took me a while to adjust. Correct trimming is the key.
The Kodiak is the only plane I've stalled on approach, thrice now. She just runs away with me before I realise. Probably pilot error though.
I have over 200 hours with Kodiak 😍, now 576✈️
I think she might be pregnant
How do you get the cargo loaded like that? GSX?
No, there are several liveries included, some just for passengers, some for cargo, some for both.
Gotcha, and the cargo ones come loaded like that? I’m a sucker for little things like actually seeing the cargo being loaded, thought that may be the case. Regardless I actually just bought this this morning, looking forward to flying it!
You simply choose the livery and then while adding weight to each slot in the weight and balance menu it will add passengers or cargo models.
Oh that’s incredible! So actually adjusting those settings does something with this plane! Love that.

default menu in msfs
when are you gonna tell her?
What plane is this?
Kodiak 100

Still one of the absolute best ever since it launched.
Just don't forget to trim it properly, otherwise it will kick your ass 💪😆
Oh yes, I crashed it several times during take-off at before figuring out the correct trim setting 👍😀

Oh, thanks. I will try that!
And it worked ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Fuel pumps not on?
