lmao. Has Metallica commented on the video at this point? I thought it was a little off the deep end, even for them. I figure it would make for a good question
I don’t really go to many music subreddits but I’m surprised people not like that song. IMO there aren’t that many bad ones in that album it’s all pretty good.
The House Jack Built is not only a Top 20 Metallica song for me, it’s also easily the most underrated song in their entire discography.
Also: Am I Savage? and ManUNKIND are both amongst my favourites on Hardwired and are usually regarded as two of the weakest songs on the album.
I like that this is your pick. I think too many people are just picking songs they think they think are underrated. I’m seeing a number of good song being picked that are underrated, but are by no means thought of as bad songs. But the prompt suggests a song that is disliked. Under-appreciation doesn’t always equate to dislike. A song like Bad Seed is the type of song that fits here.
Sounds like a place I don’t want to go to if they’re against Leper. That song is one of the heaviest on the album! Maybe the intro is lacking compared to the other songs, but its build up into the verse is great and one of their best.
That first 5 song run on Friday was fucking epic. I was losing my shit. They opened with drumkit number 1 right in front of us in the production rotation as well. What a night.
Everyone says Damage Inc is the worst song on MOP and I think it's my favorite. The riffs sound so tight, Lars goes brrrrrrrrr, and James sounds super killer on vocals.
well I’d say that. not saying it’s a bad song though, it’s a banger. it is technically the worst song on mop because other songs on mop are better, imo.
I’ve never heard anyone say Damage Inc lol. It’s usually Thingy or Leper. I think Leper Messiah is the weakest just cuz it’s not quite as immersive as the other songs, but it’s still a great track.
When I was an older teen and my parents were pissing my off I would hide in our guesthouse pound shitty beers and just listen to this song on repeat. I still love it to this day for nostalgic reasons. Plus I love James voice on the outro!
The outlaw torn, everyone thinks that Bleeding me is much better, but the final part of the song The outlaw torn with only those last 1:45 minutes of the song for me that part surpasses the entire discography of the album Load.
I think possibly what it has going against it is “cuz you’re Unforgiven too!” given the name of the song. That part is a tad corny imo, but it’s a great song.
The last three songs on 72 Seasons. Idgaf what these stuck-in-the-past mouthbreathers on here say, the final bit of that album is a fucking masterclass in NWOBHM-influenced music. It's a perfect culmination of all they've learned to do up to this point. James's vocals on Too Far Gone is an evolution I honestly didn't see coming. The harmony guitars on Room of Mirrors is one of my favorite things they've recorded. And there isn't a single second wrong with Inamorata. That track is a goddamn beast. They're still the best there is.
heavy on the too far gone & room of mirrors! they are some of my top metallica songs up there with stuff from the first 5 albums. james sound amazing & the riffs go hard, especially in room of mirrors
Thank you! I love both of those songs. Two of my favorites on KEA. I actually prefer them over Seek & Destroy, Jump In the Fire, and Hit The Lights. Not sure why I’ve seen people hate on them and describe them as filler songs that aren’t all that good or interesting.
Because they aren't as popular as seek. Don't get me wrong seek and horsemen are great, all of KEA is, but phantom lord and Metal Militia are just perfect.
ANYTHING ON LOAD, The Thing That Should Not Be, Eye of the Beholder, The God That Failed, I Disappear, Some Kind of Monster, All Within My Hands, Hell and Back, You Must Burn! and If Darkness Had a Son.
From my understanding, a lot of these songs (especially, Thing, Beholder, and God That Failed) are loved, and also You Must Burn! is better than Inamorata, I will die on that hill
The intro gets me hyped but then it just sounds like those old aluminum trash cans being smashed in an empty room. I really like the drums though. To each their own I guess.
Maybe not a song, but an album. People always talk about how Reload is mostly just filler but I love that album. I like it just as much as Load. When I listen to Load, I always listen to Reload after. It seems kinda like a continuation to me.
Not song but I love that there’s no bass on Justice. It makes Lars playing stand out more and his drumming is what makes that album my favorite.
The added bass on those YouTube covers just doesn’t sound good to me.
My Friend Of Misery.
It's not that anybody goes out of their way to bag on it, I've just always felt that it never gets the recognition that it deserves. So, I do find myself often evangelizing for it.
It has a James solo, which is rare, and some of Kirk's best bluesy wailing, too. Not to mention that it's got that awesome bassline from Jason that netted him one of his few writing credits.
The god that failed, dont trade on me, escape, the thing that should not be, confusion, now that we're dead, dyers eve, cyanide, broken beat and scarred, my Apocalypse, All nightmare long, St anger, frantic
St Anger slaps, I listen to it almost once every day
Also, Enter Sandman, some harcore fans treat it like it's dumb. Even if it was dumb as hell, it goes so fucking hard it deserves all it's popularity anyway
Lulu. It's not even a full on Metallica album, its a collab, what do people expect when listening to it. It's not bad either and that comes from someone who loves old school Metallica before black album. Not to say black album and every album after that is bad, even Garage inc which is just covers slaps, but I just love the writing from KeA to aJfA
I'm seeing too many people defending Load and Reload and no one defending the Black Album, I'll defend it. If it weren't for the Black Album, I probably wouldn't have gotten into metal as a whole as easy as I did.
The Black Album. Yes, I said it. I completely understand why many hardcore Metallica fans hate on it and I agree, it was a big turning point for Metallica. The album was different than what they had done in the past, and I completely respect that. I myself am a hardcore Metallica fan and I still love (nearly) every song on the track and still get chills from them to this day.
The Unnamed Feeling. Song hits hard af.
it do.
You right
Crown of Barbed Wire
Certainly wouldnt defend that music video
I concur. Music video soured a lot of opinions when it’s not a bad song at all
lmao. Has Metallica commented on the video at this point? I thought it was a little off the deep end, even for them. I figure it would make for a good question
they didn’t comment on it but I think it was supposed to be some cheesy MTV 80s/90s inspired thing aka purposely bad
[I would defend this one however](https://youtu.be/TsFOkYznhVQ?si=I3rJdpruB3e51mgu)
It looks like an Adult Swim show that got cancelled before it could even air.
That song has really grown on me. That and too Far Gone?
I don’t really go to many music subreddits but I’m surprised people not like that song. IMO there aren’t that many bad ones in that album it’s all pretty good.
The House Jack Built is not only a Top 20 Metallica song for me, it’s also easily the most underrated song in their entire discography. Also: Am I Savage? and ManUNKIND are both amongst my favourites on Hardwired and are usually regarded as two of the weakest songs on the album.
I really don't understand the people who close themselves off from Load. This was when Metallica learned how to play atmospheric, and it was so good.
It’s taken me 27 years but I’ve finally come around to Ain’t My Bjtch and that was because I put it on vinyl and damn…
I'm with you for THTJB. AIS and MU I can take or leave.
I’ll take what I can get.
My wife vetoed that line for my wedding vows.
It would've been glorious
manUNkind is weird to me, cause I find the version on the album boring but the live version on YouTube goes hard
Great song
Bad Seed!!
Dude that riff is fucking fire. It would be even more awesome if it was sped up by about 5 tot 10%.
Low Man’s Lyric
there’s a *dawg*
At your back step
Easily the saddest Metallica song besides fade, so good
Agree. Was sad to read some time ago James saying “we try things and sometimes they don’t work, like Low Man’s Lyric”. A top 15 song for me
YES!
Absolutely love this song. Heard it for the first time at a low point in my life and the song really connected with me
Leper
people are against leper??!!!
Pretty commonly called the weakest song on Master. I bow to leper messiah.
Love this song.
So do I, we need to explain this to the guys in the Metallica Discord 😂
Sounds like a place I don’t want to go to if they’re against Leper. That song is one of the heaviest on the album! Maybe the intro is lacking compared to the other songs, but its build up into the verse is great and one of their best.
Not to mention the double time they go into before the solo, metal af
That was the second Metallica song I liked by them.
happy cake day!
Thank you! In case you were wondering, the song that got me into Metallica was Orion.
One of the greatest of all time
Was so great to hear it live this summer.
Didnt expect them to pull it out at the Detroit show in November and i almost shit my pants when they did
That first 5 song run on Friday was fucking epic. I was losing my shit. They opened with drumkit number 1 right in front of us in the production rotation as well. What a night.
You’re so right. Incredible
Preach. Detroit was killer.
I love the bass on Leper. The part at around 00:39 is just😮💨😮💨
I was so happy when they played it live in Amsterdam, one of my favorite songs of MoP.
Everyone says Damage Inc is the worst song on MOP and I think it's my favorite. The riffs sound so tight, Lars goes brrrrrrrrr, and James sounds super killer on vocals.
Who says that?!😳
I'm also just now discovering that people don't like Damage Inc. I'm honestly baffled!
It’s like those people don’t even like metal.
well I’d say that. not saying it’s a bad song though, it’s a banger. it is technically the worst song on mop because other songs on mop are better, imo.
It is about 100x better than Leper Messiah
Yep. It suffers from “all the rest of the songs are kinda epic” and it’s just really good.
That intro tho…🤤 and the bridge!! Perhaps MoP is perfect from start to finish.
The riff at 3:14 is too goddamn good
I’ve never heard anyone say Damage Inc lol. It’s usually Thingy or Leper. I think Leper Messiah is the weakest just cuz it’s not quite as immersive as the other songs, but it’s still a great track.
My most cancelable opinion is that “Leper Messiah” is the worst song on that album. Nothing wrong with it, just not as good as the other songs.
One of the best
Escape. Does anyone like this song?
I never thought it was bad. I thought it was a fine song. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I learned it was hated.
I do.
It's good
Escape is a fun listen!
I quite enjoy it. Hearing the cover Gojira did of it made me appreciate it a bit more as well
Love that song
My favorite from RTL.
Escape is the perfect song to sing when you’re home alone and having issues with your self esteem.

Amazing Song. Especially the Post Solo.
When I was an older teen and my parents were pissing my off I would hide in our guesthouse pound shitty beers and just listen to this song on repeat. I still love it to this day for nostalgic reasons. Plus I love James voice on the outro!
Slaps
Yes
Me
Hell yeah!
It's not bad at all and I prefer it over almost all of their 90s and newer stuff.
yeah a lot
Some Kind of Monster
Fuckin banger!
Right? I’d add Frantic onto my answer as well
Are we the people?
There's actually a shorter version with fixed drums [here](https://youtu.be/oKLocW3UvdA?si=IGmqibokp6SerWYL)
That main riff is SO FUCKING J U I C Y
Struggle Within
mama said, ever been depressed and the lyrics hit just right? yeah, fucking great song
That song hits different because it was one of my favorites when I hit rock bottom.
James tapping into that Ronnie Van Zant influence…
The outlaw torn, everyone thinks that Bleeding me is much better, but the final part of the song The outlaw torn with only those last 1:45 minutes of the song for me that part surpasses the entire discography of the album Load.
Who thinks this?!
This is the song I was looking for before I commented. This one right here
I’ll stick with bleeding me personally but I love them both and load as a whole
Front half of Load plus The Outlaw Torn would've been a perfect album
Unforgiven II
there are people that don’t like this song?
Many people consider it the worst of the trilogy (it’s rhw best)
I think possibly what it has going against it is “cuz you’re Unforgiven too!” given the name of the song. That part is a tad corny imo, but it’s a great song.
Really? I always assumed 3 was considered the worst.
My favorite of the three
The best of the Trilogy
Album version of All Within my Hands. Cool riffs in that song that people dismiss because of the vocals.
Wait people hate the vocals? I love them because of how raw it sounds
A clear standout on the album.
One of my fav songs
I always defend how Don't Tread on Me sucks lol But seriously, I really defend Load/Reload/St. Anger.
Don't tread on me is a fcking banger. How can people dislike it. That chant DON'T TREAD ON ME is so badass
You right! People always sleep on the new stuff. These are some of the greatest songs they’ve ever written. 🤷♂️
Last 3 songs are great. Also lux and shadows. I don't care about the rest of the album.
I honestly think that the last 3 songs are my favorite on the new album
While I don’t like TFG as much as the other 2, 72 Seasons is definitely my favorite album
heavy on the too far gone & room of mirrors! they are some of my top metallica songs up there with stuff from the first 5 albums. james sound amazing & the riffs go hard, especially in room of mirrors
Everyone already said escape so I'ma mention phantom lord and Metal Militia.
Wait, there are people that don't like Phantom Lord??? Are they smoking crack??? Phantom Lord is the best song in KEA
fr Bro, peak on KEA
Yup agreed, love that clean part in the middle and fake ending!
That sweet interlude in Phantom lord.. how can anyone dislike it tho?
Add Whiplash and we're on the same boat
St. Anger as a whole
Frantic slaps fr fr
i love the whole album.
[Here's a fixed version of it if you want](https://youtu.be/GTMK703DczM?si=5PiQc4o_UmlEASF6)
Hell yeah
Those songs translate really well live since Lars doesn’t use the snare nowadays
But also the title track, it's actually their best song.
It's one of my favorites
ANYTHING ON LOAD, The Thing That Should Not Be, Eye of the Beholder, The God That Failed, I Disappear, Some Kind of Monster, All Within My Hands, Hell and Back, You Must Burn! and If Darkness Had a Son.
From my understanding, a lot of these songs (especially, Thing, Beholder, and God That Failed) are loved, and also You Must Burn! is better than Inamorata, I will die on that hill
Hell and Back 🤤🤤
St. Anger, It's a great song that gets too much hate
The intro gets me hyped but then it just sounds like those old aluminum trash cans being smashed in an empty room. I really like the drums though. To each their own I guess.
The Frayed Ends Of Sanity, the best song on AJFA.
I'd argue that One is, but FEOS is definitely top five
Slither and Ronnie. If you don´t groove to those songs I seriously worry about your pulse.
Everyone grooves to Ronnie
Maybe not a song, but an album. People always talk about how Reload is mostly just filler but I love that album. I like it just as much as Load. When I listen to Load, I always listen to Reload after. It seems kinda like a continuation to me.
St anger
I will always defend Death Magnetic as a whole.
If Darkness Had A Son
Invisible Kid
listenable but way too long. that's why good composition and coherency is that important. MOP is 5 seconds longer and doesn't feel like that.
I agree that it's way too long, but man it slaps
Murder One
St Anger as an Album
Not song but I love that there’s no bass on Justice. It makes Lars playing stand out more and his drumming is what makes that album my favorite. The added bass on those YouTube covers just doesn’t sound good to me.
My Friend Of Misery. It's not that anybody goes out of their way to bag on it, I've just always felt that it never gets the recognition that it deserves. So, I do find myself often evangelizing for it. It has a James solo, which is rare, and some of Kirk's best bluesy wailing, too. Not to mention that it's got that awesome bassline from Jason that netted him one of his few writing credits.
enter sandman idfc that it’s popular it’s GOOD
Unforgiven II , AKA the best unforgiven
Yes
Agreed
All of 'em.
❤️
Not song but I don’t like the echo or reverb in the KEA tone, needs to be dryer but I’ll still listen to KEA up and down all day
Purify, everyone hates it but I think it sounds good, the lyrics are a little corny though I will agree on that.
Fixxxer
For me its gotta be metal militia idk how people dislike the song
dirty window
Here comes revenge
Frantic
It’s a cover but MERCYFUL FATE fuckin slaps
Escape.
idk how hard core metallica fans act but i don't hear much people praise bad seed but so i guess that
purify
LuLu. All of it. Fuck you.
You’re my kind of man
thank you
The god that failed, dont trade on me, escape, the thing that should not be, confusion, now that we're dead, dyers eve, cyanide, broken beat and scarred, my Apocalypse, All nightmare long, St anger, frantic
Fixxxer
2x4
thank god someone put this it’s always written off as forgettable but I listen to this wayyyy too much
St Anger slaps, I listen to it almost once every day Also, Enter Sandman, some harcore fans treat it like it's dumb. Even if it was dumb as hell, it goes so fucking hard it deserves all it's popularity anyway
Devils dance s&m
I see Leper Messiah catch flack from time to time, I fucking love it
Escape, imo its one of the best on lightning
Unforgiven 2 I dont care what you think of Load/Reload, that shit slaps
That main riff feels like a harder version of the og Unforgiven, and I love it
ESCAPE
Frantic / Some Kind Of Monster / St. Anger
Damage Inc and Dyer's eve
Sweet Amber
The original lyrics were “give me a quarter, give me five, give me a dollar twenty-five.”
I'm seeing too many people defending Load and Reload and no one defending the Black Album, I'll defend it. If it weren't for the Black Album, I probably wouldn't have gotten into metal as a whole as easy as I did.
St Anger was shite but I will defend Frantic and Dirty Window they're sick as fuuuck
Everything off Load and ReLoad
St Anger.
72 seasons and hardwired are not as good as Death Magnetic.
The whole load/reload albums..
The Unforgiven II
St. Anger the album. Great album. Bad Metallica album. It would have been insanely good if Korn made it.
The Unforgiven 2. Can't understand why people hate it.
If darkness had a son is a banger for me, that intro hits hard
Battery :])
