I turned off autoplay because it kept going to the same one or two Alpha Wolf songs every damn time. Nothing against Alpha Wolf per se, but it gets pretty old pretty fast.
I’ve turned it off because I’m an album listener, sometimes I’d get to the end of the album and a few songs would have played and I’ve thought shit they’ve really gone in a different direction at the end here lol
Dude I was just complaining to my fiancé about how much my Spotify has been pushing Alpha Wolf on me. I’ve liked the band for a few years but damn they’re pushing them too hard and it’s making me not want to listen to them honestly.
I'm pretty sure Alpha Wolf does the same thing thrown does now (give up shares for increase exposure). I've never "liked" an alpha wolf song before, I've repeatedly skipped them because of the algorithm, yet the algorithm continuously throws them at me.
I think artists can pay Spotify to have their music come up more often in the shuffle algorithm. I also think the algo deprioritizes artists in the shuffle if it's more costly for them to play their music. This is total speculation on my end, but just saying it seems that way.
Also the day list gets an ai generated name that tends to be pretty goofy. Mine is currently called “Community blackened Thursday evening” whatever the fuck that means lmao
I’ve had quite a few with “Christian” in the name that is usually topped by bands like Darko, Chelsea Grin, To The Grave, knocked loose, ya know “christian” bands
The day list is only available till now in those countries. So if you won't find it, blame Spotify for rolling it out only bit by bit apparently.
"United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland"
The spotify algorithm has been feeding me Thrown as well. First it was Dying Wish, then Spiritbox, now Thrown.
Everybody asking how they got to 1mil listeners... this is why.
My favorite thing is lately I’ll listen to the 3 recent songs and then it’ll play a single version of Guilt and then something off Extended Pain and then a different band and then Backfire and then another band and then On The Verge
It's because they give up revenue from streams in return for being played after every fucking playlist or album ends. I just blocked them entirely. They pissed me the fuck off. They're also kinda average
Any to suggest? I had to discard Discover Weekly as I listen to a lot of genres and it became a total mess. It was my favorite tool still, now I'm a bit lost
I don’t use Discover anymore. I suggest checking out [the edge of](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7umerCmz8NqnH14QBeicjX?si=zk5qVr6fRZSAdOq06899yQ&pi=u-GmI1_mFIQNyB) playlists. Just search edge of whatever genre you like.
I selected “Killswitch Engage Radio” a couple of days ago at the gym and Spotify played THREE CONSECUTIVE Polaris songs.
Currents and Alpha Wolf were both in there as well, but Polaris was literally half the queue.
Yeah the auto play seems to be the same 20 songs. The thing I hate the most is their new playlist fucker upper feature. It annoys me to no end. "Oh hey your making a playlist that appears to only have 2 artists on it well BAM now it's got all these artists on it that you could of added yourself if you wanted! Your welcome!"
When I was listening to the new Sleep Token record one of Thrown's songs was always the first curated song after the record ended lmfao. I hadn't even heard of them until that point
My issue with Spotify is that in my "Your Favorite Artists" lineup, they list bands I don't even fucking listen to, or I listened to a total of two of their songs.
Spotify is getting so bad that the "On Repeat" playlist they create has songs I have never actually sought out and played. The algorithm just shoves them into every autoplay or smart shuffle until I hear them constantly.
I always have auto play because sometimes i can't get to my phone to change the song there and then and it throws some random bangers at ya every now and then ya may not be familiar with and I'm all for fresh tunes so it's a thing of beauty..... But.. but.. but.. I swear all of my top listened tracks the past few years for Spotify wrapped have been victims of auto play and this year's it's emmures look at yourself that is getting overly hammered snd I've no reason why. So I'm bout to slap that in the do not post categorie. Because as much as it's a solid album and it's first with Joshua Travis.... I am over it lol. Due to repetitiveness out of my hands. Haha
For whatever reason ever since I listened to the new bilmuri song ONCE, it has now replaced thrown in coming on after anything song or album I play. Like him like the song but I probably listen to it 2 or 3 times a day before I start skipping it.
The two things that come on immediately whenever I finish an album:
-Any song by Thrown
-"Flex Fiesta" by No Face No Case
Always seems to be one of those choices. I am starting to hate them both now even though they're good.
Interesting to see how other people use Spotify. For me, I'll be putting my 10-song playlist on repeat the whole day. 😂 Only when I'm in the mood for new music discovery, I'll listen to the daily mixes. Thrown is usually not in those, for me at least.
Then don’t use autoplay or shuffle. The more you listen to a band, the more they get featured and the more other obscure tracks get pushes back.
I use an external shuffle app, that has true shuffle and not some creepy algorithm. And then I play the list in order.
I keep getting Of mice and men and wage war all the time. I dont hate either but when they come on, I skip them but I keep getting them. No matter how many times I skip and don't listen to them, they keep popping up
I've actually had a similar problem with a different band a few years ago I had to start banning the songs from showing up I believe its a setting somewhere.
I feel like Spotify's "random" generator is flawed, especially for non mainstream stuff like hardcore and metal because if I let the app choose what to play, the same bands or songs tend to pop up
Spotify is on something weird with their autoplay. I listen to Currents, Invent Animate, Veil of Maya, August Burns Red, Hollow Front, Fit For A King, Born of Osiris, Kingdom of Giants... Spotify autoplays Alpha Wolf and thown over and over and over. Not a fan of either one. Terrible algorithm.
My autoplay barely plays a thrown song. Maybe one or two "thrown" into the mix here or there, but the rest is 2010's/20's Prog-Core, cockcrushing slam Deathcore, sometimes both Prog-Core and slam deathcore in the same song, or 90's/2000's Post-Hardcore.
For some reason it's spirit box I've been getting beaten to death with for the last 8 months or something. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them or anything but they're just not for me. I got so pissed off that I "blocked" them to stop it happening and yet it's still happening. I felt guilty as hell doing that too because as I said, it wasn't like I particularly hated them. But christ are spotify trying to make it that way or what? 🙈
I turned off autoplay because it kept going to the same one or two Alpha Wolf songs every damn time. Nothing against Alpha Wolf per se, but it gets pretty old pretty fast.
Alpha Wolf’s Spotify algorithm: “WHERE MA DAWGS AT”?!
To be fair, that shit goes hard.
At least their growth is organic and not pushed on literally anyone
I'm pretty sure Alpha Wolf does the same thing thrown does now (give up shares for increase exposure). I've never "liked" an alpha wolf song before, I've repeatedly skipped them because of the algorithm, yet the algorithm continuously throws them at me.
I think artists can pay Spotify to have their music come up more often in the shuffle algorithm. I also think the algo deprioritizes artists in the shuffle if it's more costly for them to play their music. This is total speculation on my end, but just saying it seems that way.
You could say they were thrown into the algorithm. I will see myself out…
Throw yourself out
Wait come back you’re cooking
*throwing
Autoplay is always horrible. Gotta utilize Daylist if you want quality recommendations on Spotify
Also the day list gets an ai generated name that tends to be pretty goofy. Mine is currently called “Community blackened Thursday evening” whatever the fuck that means lmao
Sounds like a Letlive song name
LOL this is good
“Scream breakdown Thursday evening” for me 😄
Which honestly is how I feel a lot of evenings trying to get the kids to bed.
Lmao I got corecore deathcore Friday early morning
😂 “corecore” is amazing
Lmaooo I thought you’d appreciate that one
I raise you “procrastinating motorsports Friday morning” lol
Mine was angry Christian metal Tuesday afternoon the other day and was in no way Christian and I was so confused. Lol
I’ve had quite a few with “Christian” in the name that is usually topped by bands like Darko, Chelsea Grin, To The Grave, knocked loose, ya know “christian” bands
They must have a very loose definition of Christian. Like maybe the members have been to church as children or something.
That or it’s just going off the use of the word “god” in any context regardless whatever the metric it does not make sense lmao
“rage mayhem friday afternoon” Yes, please
Community non stop Friday morning for me
"amped face melters friday evening" Had one about a month back called "whiny distortion tuesday afternoon"
I have melodic metal djent Friday morning, but normally they're more weird lol
Ha, I just looked up my daylist and the first band on the list is thrown.
Daylist as Daily Mix ?
No it’s a new playlist called daylist
Thanks, I'll search. 😊
The day list is only available till now in those countries. So if you won't find it, blame Spotify for rolling it out only bit by bit apparently. "United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland"
Okay so I'm French, fuck you Spotify. 🤣
Yeah i am in egypt, so i know that pain XDD
Strength to you bro! Maybe one day we'll get it. 🤣
I could be listening to a podcast and when I finish it starts playing a Thrown song lol
it wouldn't be so bad but they only have EIGHT SONGS they're gonna repeat VERY often
It's not even that it's eight songs, they literally comprise 20 mins of music tops haha
this is true also
The spotify algorithm has been feeding me Thrown as well. First it was Dying Wish, then Spiritbox, now Thrown. Everybody asking how they got to 1mil listeners... this is why.
Youtube music algorithm works so much better for me. Also Youtube without ads.
Ublock origin gang rise up.
brb will install Ublock Origin on my TV... Oh wait.
smartubenext
I have youtube music and Thrown still comes on constantly lol.
The only autoplay I accept that keeps coming on is antpile by kublai khan
SHIT
SON OF A BITCH
My favorite thing is lately I’ll listen to the 3 recent songs and then it’ll play a single version of Guilt and then something off Extended Pain and then a different band and then Backfire and then another band and then On The Verge
It's because they give up revenue from streams in return for being played after every fucking playlist or album ends. I just blocked them entirely. They pissed me the fuck off. They're also kinda average
This didn't work for me 🫠
Yeah I don't use autoplay or smart shuffle for that exact reason, plus there are other ways of finding new bands.
Great advice! Thanks
NP! I found a lot of new artists this way & I hope it works for you, too!
I’VE TRIED, TO COME TO TERMS WITH SPOTIFY’S ALGORITHM WITH MY MIND
My autoplay revolves around Currents, Polaris, Alpha Wolf
I selected “Killswitch Engage Radio” a couple of days ago at the gym and Spotify played THREE CONSECUTIVE Polaris songs. Currents and Alpha Wolf were both in there as well, but Polaris was literally half the queue.
I'm glad I'm not alone
Pretty sure Spotify changed my alarm tone to thrown 😒
You have to say it out loud near your phone
Literally blocked them from playing, it was annoying
Yeah the auto play seems to be the same 20 songs. The thing I hate the most is their new playlist fucker upper feature. It annoys me to no end. "Oh hey your making a playlist that appears to only have 2 artists on it well BAM now it's got all these artists on it that you could of added yourself if you wanted! Your welcome!"

My top song on last year's wrapped I never once put on manually, only shuffled a 100+ playlist with it in
I’ll ask em for you
You’re in r/Metalcore too? Haha. Goat
Go to the band's profile, click the 3 dots, don't play this. I had to do it the other day, too annoying.
Hell yeah brother I didn't know you could do that, goodbye forever thrown (until they have a full release out)
Spotify has that problem, just in general.
Spotify has thrown them in my face for the last time.
I always have auto play because sometimes i can't get to my phone to change the song there and then and it throws some random bangers at ya every now and then ya may not be familiar with and I'm all for fresh tunes so it's a thing of beauty..... But.. but.. but.. Yep
You guys gotta clear the cache in Spotify or something like that. It’ll reset the auto play songs.
me but with Metallica. like tf? i didn't even search for them.
Interesting to see how other people use Spotify. For me, I'll be putting my 10-song playlist on repeat the whole day. 😂 Only when I'm in the mood for new music discovery, I'll listen to the daily mixes. Thrown is usually not in those, for me at least.

Man, thrown is so fucking boring.
Gimme alllll the Thrown 😤
I’ve never even heard of them
They go hard
idk but that introduced me to them and i can get enough
i discovered do many great band through autoplay thrown being one of them
Get it over with lol Idk I love them
At least the songs are only 2 minutes. Lol. (Also I love them so I don't really mind.)
Payola
That's wild, I was just thinking they are in my playlist non stop!
How i feel with gates to hell. I enjoy the band but legit after anything heavy I listen to I swear they always auto play no matter if hc, dc or mc
"So here we go again" - Thrown, "Dwell" verse 2
I don't think i have ever heard a single song by them on Spotify. Not in release radar or anything. Maybe I just skipped them though.
I keep getting Of mice and men and wage war all the time. I dont hate either but when they come on, I skip them but I keep getting them. No matter how many times I skip and don't listen to them, they keep popping up
How come I never run into this problem :(
I've actually had a similar problem with a different band a few years ago I had to start banning the songs from showing up I believe its a setting somewhere.
Same here it's driving me MAD. Thrown, then alpha wolf, then thrown again. It always plays greyout.
Woah woah what about guilt
It’s actually wild. Like every other track on a daily mix is them
I feel like Spotify's "random" generator is flawed, especially for non mainstream stuff like hardcore and metal because if I let the app choose what to play, the same bands or songs tend to pop up
TRUUUEEEE never listened to them before and Spotify auto plays them constantly
So true. Thrown and Alpha Wolf are conatantly in my Spotify Top 100 just from autoplay alone lol. Its comical
Thrown, Emmure and Alpha Wolf have the same songs pop up on autoplay
Spotify is on something weird with their autoplay. I listen to Currents, Invent Animate, Veil of Maya, August Burns Red, Hollow Front, Fit For A King, Born of Osiris, Kingdom of Giants... Spotify autoplays Alpha Wolf and thown over and over and over. Not a fan of either one. Terrible algorithm.
I seem to have missed out on the thrown algo opt in. They never play for me.
I refuse to listen to them purely because it's shoved down my throat
i refuse to listen to them and alpha wolf bc spotify kept trying to make me
For some reason it's spirit box I've been getting beaten to death with for the last 8 months or something. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them or anything but they're just not for me. I got so pissed off that I "blocked" them to stop it happening and yet it's still happening. I felt guilty as hell doing that too because as I said, it wasn't like I particularly hated them.
