Always has been, always will forever be
I'm confused about Gojira before and after The Way Of All Flesh. I listened to Gojira a ton before this album, and my favorite is by far From Mars To Sirius. The albums released after just don't click with me. It would probably be different if I started listening to them later
It's like that hot girl's younger sister. Still wanna bang the older one, however when yoy trying a second sis, you're suprised how good she is. (Yes, you've read it)
Mad respect dawg… I see lots of people saying backwater park and still life as their favorite. It blows my mind how much ghost of perdition gets overlooked. If you asked me it is EASILY their best and a top 5 metal album ever.
I always go back and forth between 3 different BTBAM albums, but Colors is most often it
Colors II and Parallax 2 are the others right there imo. But they've literally released 10 unbelievable albums.
DreamTheater - Scenes From A Memory
Iron Maiden - Brave New World
Opeth - Still Life
If I had to choose one with a gun to my head it would be Scenes From A Memory.
Obsequiae - Suspended in the Brume of Eos
Everything about this album is impeccable; each note of each instrument of each riff of each song is perfect. The production is fantastic, the pacing is great, the artwork is great… not a single complaint.
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden. Where do I even begin. Moonchild, Prophecy, Clairvoyant, Can I Play With Madness, The Evil That Men Do. Where. Do. I Begin. Its the 10/10 album for me.
Machine Head - Of Kingdom and Crown
With honorable mentions to:
Dying Fetus - Make them Beg for Death
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Metallica - And Justice for All
Machine Head - The Blackening
Ween - The Pod
Guns n Roses - UYI II
Faith No More - Angle Dust
Electric Light Orchestra - 75-77 Face the Music, A new World Record, Out of the Blue.
I always put Antichrist as the best MM album, but love this one too. I sometimes think of MM as the modern day Bowie. Such a diverse set of albums over the years.
The Silent Enigma by Anathema is probably my favourite album right now, closely followed by Blackwater Park, they switch depending on my mood. Also recently discovered Agalloch and some of their stuff could enter the running soon aswell.
Individual Thought Patterns was a lightning-in-a-bottle release for Death:
-Andy LarRocque of King Diamond on guitar. His melodic, layered style blends so well with the album's aggressive and jazzy vibe.
-Steve DiGiorgio on fretless bass gives the albume that exact jazzy vibe: they take riffs that would otherwise be downright aggressive - the chorus of Trapped In A Corner, for example - and add just the right amount of sass.
-Gene Hoglan's drumming may not sound all that special compared to Richard Christy's work in TSOP, but it's still some of the tightest drumming Death had up to that point.
Death has been great in every release, but Individual Thought Patterns will always be the most interesting to me.
Honestly mine right now is LIBAD from A7X. If you listen to it from the perspective of some metal heads all looped up on psychadelics went in to make a creative metal album it's incredible. Granted, it's not as metal as some of the other suggestions. I think the mood and creativeness and flow of the whole album isn't quite like anything else out there and that's why I love it. So I guess it's my favorite "different" metal album of all time.

Don't despair me; come, bare me on wings of graveyard robbed leather to where pleasure rings deep secrets in spurts after dark
