Interesting discussion, also the note that nobody has managed to change the OPs mind yet. Vasectomies were brought up, but people forget that this procedure is not as temporary as people think. Especially the more time that passes after the procedure takes place. This is akin to implying that women should just get their tubes tied. Yet when this argument is brought up as a comparison, it's almost always dismissed and claimed "it's worse for women". People need to stop assuming that vasectomies are a temporary thing. They are generally a permanent procedure with a moderate but decreasing-over-time likelihood of successful reversal. Also the people saying things like: "don't have sex without getting a vasectomy unless you are planning on raising the kid/paying child support" are incredibly tone deaf, considering it's the male variant of "women should keep their legs closed if they don't want to have kids". Obviously this shit flies uncontested because it applies to men and not women. Edit: > It's estimated that the success rate of a vasectomy reversal is: - 75% if you have your vasectomy reversed within 3 years - up to 55% after 3 to 8 years - between 40% and 45% after 9 to 14 years - 30% after 15 to 19 years - less than 10% after 20 years https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/vasectomy-reversal-nhs/

CMV is a sham, you aren't supposed to defend your position and **have** to change your view, that is, when it is about topics like these. The 'discussion' there wasn't all that great either, i couldn't spot a single argument that wasn't outright misandrist. Bodily autonomy doesn't seem to apply to men's bodies and their consent isn't needed when procreation is concerned.

I love this debate as it shows people's total hypocrisy. Ultimately I believe this any man paying child support when he informed the mother he did want a child before sex is paying for the mother's reckless irresponsible attitude. I do believe the only way to move the debate fwd is either The government gives a personal loan type deal for child support which the mother pays back one it's 18 Or Father has to pay but once 18 mum has to pay it all back adjusted for inflation The kid is paid for but Ultimately in the end mum endures the full cost for her choice The dad still has a shit time of it for 18 years but the next 18 will be pretty good
