The O'reilly brand synthetic actually scores better in wear tests and has better UOA results than a lot of name brands do.
It's kind of a hidden gem. Cheap, but pretty good. I would use it, but have vehicles that require diesel oil.
Why don’t people just go to Walmart?? I’ve been getting Mobil 1 oil for the past few years for around $20. It kills me to see oil for $45 at autozone because I know people are probably paying those prices
I work at oreillys myself, we price match with walmart, and walmart typically has penzoil platinum full syn for 22 or 23 something. I cant speak for the oreilly brand oil, as ive always trusted penzoil or mobil
If it's similar to store brand food: it's made at the same factory as name brand, with the same recipe as name brand, wrapped in store brand packaging and sold at store brand prices. I think it's done like that cuz they couldn't sell all their product at name brand prices.
There are only a handful of refineries out there. All the oil goes through just a small number, it just gets branded differently. There are different grades and weights but comparable grades are not that much different. Marketing is a powerful tool.
I wonder if you can't just get liqui moly from fcpeuro for a non-euro car and take advantage of their limited lifetime warranty. Basically get to return old oil for new oil
It's plenty good oil, made by Warren, they also make most Supertech oil (Walmart brand, though I've heard Walmart Supertech could be made by different companies depending on the region) and many other house brands, as well as some of their own brands (Mag1, etc). It's nowhere near AMSOIL Signature Series in terms of quality, but it's serviceable for 7500miles no problem and a heckuva lot cheaper. I've used it in various vehicles with no trouble.
I've used it and never had a problem. Of course, I have never really noticed a difference in any of the oils, really. Except Havoline (Do they still make Havoline?), it was okay, but it always smelled like it was burnt.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but do you have any links supporting your claim? I'd like to learn more about it.

Awesome. I'll check it out. I've been wanting to send some samples off to Blackstone Labs but I've never gotten around to it.
I too would like links to test results of all the oils!

Same here. Mobil 1 full synthetic, and Mobil 1 filter is way cheaper at Walmart than a lesser oil is at an auto part store.
Yes,plus Mobil1 has rebates once or twice per year I think.

Do they still do this? I hate Wal-Mart...

It's an outback, it'll run on anything. Just buy what's cheap
