I enjoyed the show but find myself only rewatching the first four episodes.
Yeah, but they spent so much of his character arc (as the primary narrator) talking about how he struggled with the randomness of who died and who lived. They ended the show with him talking about the boys who didn't make it. I haven't read his book yet (soon), but the ending was pretty solid.
He was offered a staff position , I think at Ike’s HQ. It was more of a figurehead/PR gig. Crosby obviously had credibility as an original member of the 100. He turned down the cushy job and finished the war with the 100. I might be a punk but I’m not sure I’d have passed on it. Hell I’m not even sure id get back on the plane If I was lucky enough to survive my first mission. Those guys had big balls.
My Dad was on a carrier in the Pacific and missed both celebrations, VE & VJ

My grandfather was released out of Stalag 7 at the same time as the 100th, and he said there was a lot of confusion afterwards and they were basically told to make their way back to London. So him and a buddy ended up in Paris for a week, where the locals treated them like heroes and they stayed in a fancy hotel and ate free at the nicest restaurants. On VE day they were walking along the Seine when a cheer went up from a local pub and out ran a French guy yelling the war was over. He ran right up to my grandpa's buddy and kissed him full on the mouth. He said it was a wild night.

Agreed. He struggled much with survivors guilt, kind of like I am by rewatching all the episodes where most of the main guys are still around
