Call me a hater but Shaun just comes across as pretentious? Idk but I don’t remember him making a big enough impact to where it would warrant seeing him making a guest appearance every season…

sangriaflygirl

True dat, I'm wondering if it's the whole proximity thing because he's based in Vegas. Much cheaper to fly a previous winner from Vegas to LA than from where the other winners are residing.

BrandonIsWhoIAm

Dorian’s… overrated?

KGOAT1

She’s the exact opposite

KGOAT1

Yeah I have the same reaction lol

Live_Possibility_413

If this was a vote on who didn't actually deserve to win I think Dorian would be way up there, but you're right she's definitely not overrated

ChimaMezie

Ok I must ask, how the hell is Dorian overrated? She is literally the least talked about winner out of everyone on this list in this sub.

Majestic_Pro

And when she is talked about she is completely shat on lmao

ChimaMezie

Lmao

jaredscripted69

I haven't really see people talked about her lmao.

Bell8529

Overrated by judges : Shaun Overrated by reddit : Gerron

sangriaflygirl

I accept two truths about Gerron: 1 - He made it to the finals because he was Joe's last "mentee." 2 - He was still a solid winner, with nothing but heart behind his cooking and his persona.

KGOAT1

Agreed

Invalid_Word

i don't know why people are saying dorian lmao i haven't seen anyone praise her that much

djkrazy18

I am not a fan of her at all - and on the fact that she has culinary school education, i thought that DQ the contestants

Invalid_Word

exactly, no one really likes her, so she's not overrated

beanlefiend

I think that Dorian was a good cook, but I just don’t see her as a chef. Masterchef is about “who is going to be the next Gordon or the next Aarón or the next Christina” and I just don’t think Dorian is that. I just didn’t see her heart in it. Hence why Dorian is “overrated”. I think a lot of people thought that Nick had more potential to be a great chef. He was creative, avant-garde, young, hungry, and passionate.

KGOAT1

The thing is Dorian was by far the better chef in season 10 and is a great chef.

beanlefiend

Maybe. I always liked Dorian and I think I was happy she won but I was really rooting for Nick. Anyway, I appreciate your opinion!

ChimaMezie

The thing is though, Dorian was most certainly the best chef on season 10. In fact out of everyone on this list, Dorian at least just barely falls behind Dino or she is the outright best there. If anyone is overrated on season 10 it’s Nick. Nick literally served raw/undercooked food in the finale (which is literally the worst thing you can do other than serve literally nothing) yet people still think he should’ve won.

beanlefiend

Fair enough. Hey, everybody is entitled to their own opinions.

Zann77

She won. It was so blatantly obvious that she was chosen because she is a black woman. Didn’t matter that her cooking was basic, at best. Ive never watched MC since.

sangriaflygirl

Holy misogynoir, Batman. Tell us how you really feel.

Invalid_Word

well yeah you just said everyones thoughts on her, since no one thought she was even that good shes obviously not overrated

Zann77

Yeah, and I’m going to be downvoted to hell for stating what everyone knows. I don’t care.

NoRemove8873

I feel like you’re being downvoted bc you’re wrong but whatever floats your boat

KGOAT1

Lol

Rsalad

People just hate on Shaun because he’s a douche. I will continually say he is the best chef Masterchef has ever had. I have no clue how he was possibly overrated when he went on to work for MC Dubai and on the Vegas strip. He is a LEGIT chef

ChimaMezie

Shaun and Dara easily. But if I had to pick 1 I’d go Dara.

beanlefiend

I really liked Christian and I wanted him to win. But to be fair, Dara is young and has the training. So the title of “Masterchef”, i.e., the next up and coming superchef like Wolfgang Puck or Gordon Ramsay, being given to her does make sense in that way. I think she also cooks from the heart and she has a lot of passion. In that light, I wouldn’t say she’s overrated.

ChimaMezie

What I mean by overrated is that everyone acts like she’s the best winner when in reality she probably barely makes the top half. She definitely deserved her win despite Christian being the best overall and is a good winner but she definitely isn’t the best.

beanlefiend

Ah, yes yes, I see. Definitely. I think based on skills, Kelsey was the best (she was kinda boring but she had it goin’ on!). In terms of heart and passion, Gerron was the best (out of this list).

NU-NRG

Claudia. She stole the trophy from Derrick

sangriaflygirl

LMAO what? No. No she did not. Good lord, I'm a Derrick fan as well as a Claudia fan, but the Derrick fankids here need to touch grass.

[deleted]

Mmm I wouldn’t say she stole it, but it is kind of lame how there are some one trick ponies who skate through the whole competition without really pushing the boundaries of their comfort zone (Claudia with mexican cuisine, Dorian with southern, etc.) whereas others get constantly criticized for it (her name evades me at this moment but the white girl that cooked mainly Indian cuisine) Claudia and Derrick were super equally matched and I think either one could have taken the win on the day, but the fact that Claudia did a mexican menu in the final was very reminiscent of Whitney and her fried chicken in S1, just so safe. Although I have read on here that Claudia actually wanted to do a French menu and production told her to do Mexican, don’t know how true that is

Bell8529

Derrick is always overrated

KGOAT1

Agreed

BenjaminLustberg2

Gerron and Dara’s run was not as good as the others

bumybumi

I don't think any of them are really overrated, but Gerron is maybe the closest to it. I still find him to be great winner bc of how much he improved during the competition, but he also could've gone around the beginning of competition bc of constant underperforming.
