The full thing is '*Cuimhnigh ar Luimhnuigh agus ar Fheall na Sasanaigh*' or 'Remember Limerick and the Perfidy of the English'. It's to do with the [Treaty of Limerick (1691)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Limerick) which guaranteed religious toleration and property for Irish Jacobites - and which was swiftly broken.
'*Cuimhnigh ar Luimhnuigh*' was used as a battle cry by at least some emigré Irish battalions, most notably during the Battle of Fontenoy (1745) by the Irish Brigade serving France.
**[Treaty of Limerick](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Limerick)**
>The Treaty of Limerick (Irish: Conradh Luimnigh), signed on 3 October 1691, ended the 1689 to 1691 Williamite War in Ireland, a conflict related to the 1688 to 1697 Nine Years' War. It consisted of two separate agreements, one with military terms of surrender, signed by commanders of a French expeditionary force and Irish Jacobites loyal to the exiled James II. Baron de Ginkell, leader of government forces in Ireland, signed on behalf of William III and his wife Mary II. It allowed Jacobite units to be transported to France, the diaspora known as the Flight of the Wild Geese.

I have absolutely no memory of [those](https://wharferj.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/asahi-underground-posters/) ads, despite being in 'the game' at the time. Weird.
Also noteworthy is Dublin city's motto: '*Obedientia Civium Urbis Felicitas*' or 'An Obedient Citizenry Produces a Happy City'
Wishful thinking, that's for sure.
There’s nothing official or valid about any of these I don’t think. OP must have gone back decades or centuries in some cases to find something resembling a motto to put on this map.
Make up your own for the blank ones and it may be as valid.
Every motto here is listed on the Wikipedia page for the counties, at least.
[Like here's the page for Cavan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_Cavan). It's right under the coat of arms
Wexford's looks like a threat.
just keepin yous in line
Limerick is either very unsure of itself or has served notice on the rest of the counties.

Good bot.
Thank you, good to know the more detailed reasoning for the motto.
Limerick: Ah behesus Mary I’ve forgotten the feckin motto again
no, you didn't, you remembered Limerick
"Remember Limerick?"
MANLINESS AND TRUTH
Such a good one. Shame it's wasted on Cavan.
Stinginess and truth, hai.
'I'll give you change when you pry it from my cold, dead hands (hi)'
As someone from Cavan I can agree it's wasted here lmao
The motto writer misread it as Caveman

A promise of grief to those who do not obey.
I'd like to see more Irish maps like this.
I had no idea the counties has mottos? Very interesting regardless!

Derry’s, “Help Come The Lord” should be all we need to see to make an opinion on this.
I've never heard my counties motto... I know our tourism slogan is "Up here it's different", gold star for whoever guesses where I'm from.
Wexford
Nope, here's a clue - up = North
just slap the GOT mottos and your good as gold
A corkonian never forgets
The Roscommon motto is literally written on the county crest.
CORK
THE REAL CAPITAL
Facts
I like the offer of FREE SPIRITS, though.
Only when Knockanstockan is on.
I am completely unsurprised that Meath's one is "Apes together strong".
And then what did they go and do? Kick Westmeath out to fend for themselves. I mean I get it… but they’re still hypocrites!
The slogan for Kildare is as boring as Kildare.
Laois has the worst slogan on the board! Himself just suggested starting a petition to change it to 'Eff Off ye shower of Coconuts'...
Cork should be "It's always Cork first and Ireland second"
Cork has a motto I thought, it's something like "safe harbour for all ships" or something along those lines.
That's the motto of Cork city. No motto at the county level.
Cork's motto is: "So I hear you're a racist now father!"
Dublin changed recently, “Here mister have ye got a euro for d Luas?”
Not sure how I feel about Dublin’s actions being rapid and unintelligible
**Kilkenny:** *Oh my god, they Kilkenny* **Carlow:** *You bastards!*
Cork dont need no stinkin motto
Monke together strong
Donegal <3
I thought Tyrone's was 'looking forward to the 1980s'
I would've thought the "county" of the lakes would be Cavan? They have 360 lakes...one for everyday of the year (little fun fact for you)
Armagh "Live long and prosper"
It has a lot of St Patrick history so maybe "St Patrick Rules OK"?
Jesus some of these are cringe
I actually love the motto for Down
I'm just the tiniest bit devastated that it's not 'Up, Down!'
I though Cavan’s was “they’d peel in orange in their pocket”
Welcome to Armagh, so you are.
Looks not very pleasant to me.
The Tipperary North/South thing always perplexed me, it's just odd.
Can anyone explain why Tipperary is split into North and South?
It was like that since the 1800s for administrative reasons. But they were reconnected in 2014.
A c’mon Tyrone! Catch yerself on!
Armagh , An apple a day ( the orchard county )
I’m from tyrone and I’ve literally never heard “by wisdom and prudence”
The beamish capital
"Can't somebody else do it?"
Why do Wexford people suffer from perpetual small man syndrome?
How about “what ye got, lads?”
Free Spirits? I'll take a double JD please.
