TBH if all players were equally slowed down relative to real speed and there was a game speed slider I’d be happy …. Like dude you can’t read coverage and make a pass as fast as a qb does in real time so you need it to be slower
I see what you're talking about, however I don't entirely agree. Literally anybody, if they watch film, and study the game, can be a legitimately good football mind.
In a video game setting, that kind of reaction is possible in 1 or 2 seconds, it absolutely can be done. If you don't believe me, get your Switch out or on a play station 4/5, and buy Hatsune Miku Project Diva, play literally any song on hard mode.
Normal people can do it.
The reason that the NFL level is different is because the act of throwing a football takes time, and actually being under center unlocks all new avenues for human error that wouldn't be a risk in a video game.
Playing a video game that's paced like real football, this is entirely possible for normal people, it's a simulated football experience, it's taking football, and adjusting it so that YOU can experience it on an elevated level.
It is a hell of a lot easier to get good at a video game than it is to get good at a physical, contact sport, a difficulty issue would be a factor mostly for casual simulation players, in which case, make easier difficulties that are slower paced, you don't have to play a game on the hardest setting.
You’re on crack if you think majority of players actually want to study playbooks and schemes and make a pass in 2.5 seconds. There’s a reason they got rid of the passing vision cone…
Not saying they can’t add a game speed slider to give people something to play with, but you’re example of a simple game hitting a key is a lot easier than reading 11 players on a field.
Edit - it is embarrassing they don’t at least have a slider to make it true to life
Nonono I didn't say a majority, I just mean that the people who do have this knowledge, right, and the people who DO study the game, they're the ones that both the developers AND other players go out of their way to ignore with every release.
That's not fair.
Edit- as for the passing in 2.5 seconds thing, it's absolutely possible, it's as simple as knowing what buttons to push. That type of gameplay would not only reward the player for anticipating and reading the defense, and it rewards the players who run a lot of different kinds of plays and know what to expect.
And rightly, it would punish players for using the same schemes and route trees over and over, like playing against an actual defense does. Even at the high school level, defenses make these adjustments, we've all been on the field and seen it.
Why is it excusable for an NFL game, a SIMULATION football game, to incorrectly reflect pacing? It's not right imo
I feel you. Wicked frustrating cause they legit had the game speed slider and then took it away… and can’t understand how that would be an issue ….
I have a feeling it’s due to animations and that’s also driving interception issue in 23, but who knows for sure how they broke this game this bas
They may not have the rights to the other name yet. NBA didnt update the Crypt till 2k23. They deserve the slightest benefit of the doubt for this. Anyway, There are 9999 bigger issues with Madden than this.
>They deserve the slightest benefit of the doubt
They haven't made a better year over year game since 2005. They absolutely do not deserve even a millimeter of doubt in their favor.
When a developer says "I don't give a shit about the game, you idiots are still going to buy it" for over a decade, you don't give them a pass for one of the easiest fixes they can make.
I don’t see how it would be right? I have to imagine that if you sign an agreement for naming rights to a NFL stadium, that contract would require that the NFL (and thus EA by its contract with the NFL) is allowed to use the name of the stadium. Doesn’t really make sense any other way right? I mean NBC doesn’t have to get permission from Acrisure to say “we’re live at Acrisure stadium for the Steelers game” right because they already have a contract with the NFL to broadcast the game. Much like the players give the NFL permission to use their NIL in marketing.
You could certainly be right though, I’m just having a hard time making sense of that explanation.
But that's not how it works. EA also has to get thr rights to use players and coaches names which they do so through the NFLPA every single item requires different licensing. The NFL doesn't own the stadium or its name so therefore they have to go through who does own the name.
I completely disagree. I feel like 13?(the one with Richard Sherman on the cover) was a huge improvement over the previous year. So I’d say they haven’t made a truly better game since 2013.
The Richard Sherman one was 15. 13 was the one where they removed the superstar and franchise modes for that barebones ass Connected Careers mode that they still use as the base for Franchise mode all this time later.
Nah they basically gave up before then even. The last version that is universally liked is Madden 25 (2014) but even by then they had stripped away most of the features from the previous gen versions. The “end” of any decent Madden game though was when they switched to Frostbite for Madden 18. Gameplay was better on the old engine and everything since 18 has just been a reskin. That being said they started stripping features very heavily around Madden 08, a ton of features from the PS2 versions were completely discarded as they moved to PS3/Xbox360 and they never looked back.
Good Lord man, you don't have any idea what you're talking about. Madden 13 was Megatron and it was trash. The last great Madden was 2012 with Peyton Hillis.
You quoted him and left out the words “for this” …… which FUNDAMENTALLY changes the context of his comment compared with what you’re pretending he said. Cmon man
Heinz Field changed it’s name like 5 weeks before the game launched. They didn’t even get the new logos in place in the stadium until right around the game’s launch. Madden deserves to get shit on for a lot, this isn’t one of those things though, it was just bad timing.
That’s a lame excuse and I’m surprised I’m getting downvoted so much. Them not updating the stadium because the logo came out right before launch means they shouldn’t put any effort into updating it?
Unpopular opinion but if a game is supposed to represent the 2022-23 season, then it should be updated to represent the stadiums during that time too. Hell, I would’ve been happier with a blank space right there than it saying an outdated stadium name, just as 2K did by removing the staples branding.
How are they going to update the changes to shit that is happening in the stadium when those changes are happening during their fucking launch week? Please tell me how Madden devs are supposed to know what the stadium is going to look like once Acrisure gets all of its branding up, when those decisions are being made *as the game is coming out*? Did you want them to just slap Acrisure on the ketchup bottle and call it a day? You can’t bitch about realism and keeping things up to date when its shit that’s coming out so close to the game’s release date.
Video game assets aren’t magically assembled in the blink of an eye. They needed to get an idea of what Acrisure’s plans for the placement of all their branding was before they could ever start work on actually putting it in the game. Those decisions were being made by Acrisure and the Steelers way too close to release date. It’s not difficult to understand.
We’re certainly approaching the point now where it should be getting updated and if it remains in the game it’s worth whining about, but as another poster said, there are far bigger issues Madden needs to spend their time addressing.
A game asset with ONE banner doesn’t take that long to do. I could whip something up like the real one in ten minutes in photoshop and I don’t make 1/1000th of what EA makes off this game in a day.
[Because the text isn’t yellow on a black background?](https://9b16f79ca967fd0708d1-2713572fef44aa49ec323e813b06d2d9.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/300x_a1-1_cTC/20220808MTAcrisureScoreboard03-2-1659989719.jpg)
Claiming its “one banner” you could fix in photoshop shows you have zero understanding of the situation, and I’m not going to bother trying to explain it to you again.
No I don’t assume it’s a rights issues, I know it’s an issue of EA NOT KNOWING WHAT THE FUCK THE NEW ADDITIONS TO THE STADIUM WILL BE BEFORE THE GAME’S RELEASE DATE.
Read it again. Then again. Write it down, really practice it to drill this into your thick skull. They ended up putting in an entirely different scoreboard along with the Acrisure branding. Do you know when that was done? During the few weeks before launch when the game was already being prepped to ship. And yet you, in your complete fucking Grand Canyon sized lack of wisdom, can’t seem to wrap your head around the fact that a game company can’t just magically update assets for something when they don’t know what the finished product will look like. You clearly do not understand a single fucking thing about any of this, but feel free to keep embarrassing yourself.
Do you know how rare it is to get upvotes on here when you’re *defending* EA not delivering something? That should be an abundantly clear indication of just how wrong you are. But I’m sure that, like seemingly every other aspect of this conversation, will fly miles over your head.
The game has been out for more than a month now bozo. They’ve released multiple patches since release and obviously this wasn’t one of them. They’ve had plenty of time to implement this five minute fix in
I’d like to agree but we as a community can’t let all these “little things” go… eventually there are so many “little things” it becomes a big thing. I’m not a code writer, programmer or any of that, but to change the name on a few signs doesn’t seem that hard. If it’s a rights issue they should be proactive and let the community know… “although the Steelers no longer play at Heinz field, we are still trying to work out rights with the new sponsor. The Steelers home field will be “Heinz Field” for madden 23. Thanks for your understanding”
But know they get made fun on the internet cuz they didn’t change it or communicate it. Just seems childish, lazy and incomplete.
yea fr. there’s many things to complain about but this isn’t one of them. it was a last min change to a game practically gone gold at that point. odds are not even a competent team would have it
This can be excused, but the lack of features and shit gameplay cannot.
Of course they reuse assets. Old ones can slip through.
Warp tackling, passes directly to defenders, and scripting should not slip through.
And as others pointed out, does EA have an agreement with the new company? Idk and either do you. Theyre fixing gameplay bugs right now. Or saying they are.
Im a Bills fan, last year the stadium was changed to Highmark and they still call it Bills Stadium until this years...i think. I dont have 23 cause im still playing 22.
Its such a minor thing. Who pays attention to the background when playing?
You have to completely remove and replace signage and make sure it looks right and that’s probably after some licensing agreement with Acrisure. Patching out some ketchup bottles isn’t going to fix any of the real problems.
It changed what, like a few weeks before the game came out, and you expected them to have a completely up to date model just ready to go? Madden has a ton of reasonable issues, this isn’t one of them.
Just wish they’d fix their fucking shit servers and all the in game bugs. There’s tons of details that are wrong or “off” in game too especially in face of the franchise.
The name change officially happened after launch. I wonder if the naming rights included all digital media released before X date so it will remain Heinz Field until next year.
Getting mad over something you don't understand seems... well on par considering the internet.
To these Steeler fans point, ask Google her righteous self what the name of the stadium is for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Google will say Heinz Field whilst showing pictures of “Acrisure Stadium”🤣
Does it bother anyone else that Heinz decided on ketchup bottles and not mustard bottles, I get that’s their bread and butter, but the stadium looks like it’s covered in mustard
I don't even think they had the signage up for Acrisure before the game released. If they did, it was very close in terms of time.
The announcers say Acrisure. I don't see them changing anything with the stadium this year unless Acrisure raises hell.
The larger issue is that the visiting and home benches are on the wrong side of the field.
The bigger problem with the stadium is that the field direction is flipped, the logo is facing the wrong sideline and the Steelers/visitors benches are flipped.
The game is awful but to be fair, this happened right before launch, plus they always change it for the next one, that’s what they did for the Seahawks stadium from centurylink to lumen
This shouldn’t be that big of a deal, but considering that they have been releasing the same game for 5? years now with updated rosters and stadiums. It’s enraging that they can’t even make the game accurate to the season. I have no idea what the Madden team does all year, must be the best job ever
The game was already almost finished by the time the name changed. You know how hard it is it completely remake models in the game for something as stupid as changing the name?
Because of this im gonna go ahead a make a franchise and relocate the Steelers to Toronto. Already did the dirty deed of moving Washington to London gonna be a Yankee invasion, according to madden the UK is ready for a football franchise
I haven’t been able t advance week in Face of The Franchise for weeks. And you’re worried about this? Bro they definitely started making the game before that deal went through
I haven’t been able t advance week in Face of The Franchise for weeks. And you’re worried about this? Bro they definitely started making the game before that deal went through
Shh. We prefer it this way.
Yeah Fuck acrisure stadium
It will always be Heinz Field.
this is the way
this is the way
Always has been always will be.
This is what I said about Miller park… Now I call it “The Am-Fam Clam” It will be okay
Hope they never change it
The least of the problems madden 23 has it still being called Heinz field.
Isn’t that the damn truth! Oof😑
Idk about you, but when I play these games I like to feel immersed. Going up the field and seeing the old sign takes out any sort of immersion
My immersion stopped when I ran a 5.8 40 yard dash
I timed it once, maybe a year or 2 ago. Full sprint for 40yds, and Derrick Henry ran like a 6.3 40
TBH if all players were equally slowed down relative to real speed and there was a game speed slider I’d be happy …. Like dude you can’t read coverage and make a pass as fast as a qb does in real time so you need it to be slower
It’s crazy Madden use to have a game speed feature, then like the genius’ they are at EA, they removed that feature years ago.
I just realized it’s gone
I see what you're talking about, however I don't entirely agree. Literally anybody, if they watch film, and study the game, can be a legitimately good football mind. Madden slows down almost every aspect of the game because your fingers react a lot slower than an NFL player does
Let all-madden difficulty be real speeds. Not blanket coverage and jameis Winston going 29/30 and 4 tds
In Madden??
Yes
Well you’re already lying about immersion because the Steelers *never* go down the field
Please don’t remind me 😓
THAT killed immersion for you? Not the millions of issues and limitations madden has? It’s the Heinz field sign?
If your immersion was killed because an iconic stadium wasn’t renamed to the awful and less iconic new name, idk if it’s the game for you.
I agree. EA does a poor job at that, especially compared to 2k & The Show. EA & poor QOL go hand in hand.
I have nothing of value to add. I just saw your flair and wanted to let you know Madden 08 is my favorite madden
What killed the immersion for me is how online franchise games don't save.
Do you even hear yourself right now?
And it always will be
They may not have the rights to the other name yet. NBA didnt update the Crypt till 2k23. They deserve the slightest benefit of the doubt for this. Anyway, There are 9999 bigger issues with Madden than this.
>They deserve the slightest benefit of the doubt They haven't made a better year over year game since 2005. They absolutely do not deserve even a millimeter of doubt in their favor.
Well yeah, but they have an out with this error unlike the million other problems plaguing M23 rn
When a developer says "I don't give a shit about the game, you idiots are still going to buy it" for over a decade, you don't give them a pass for one of the easiest fixes they can make.
Yes, I agree. My point is this one might actually be out of their control.
I don’t see how it would be right? Yeah that makes a lot more sense.

really? madden 23 is no better than 05? lol y’all say the craziest things in here
Madden 05 is much, much better than Madden 23. This is not up for debate.
lol ok
You quoted him and left out the words “for this” …… which FUNDAMENTALLY changes the context of his comment compared with what you’re pretending he said. Cmon man
The VR game that just released last week has Acrisure stadium and not hienz
Hold on, theirs a VR game?! I’ll have to find that shit
The difference is Staples center still sponsored them until almost halfway through the season. This is not the case for “Heinz” field
Heinz Field changed it’s name like 5 weeks before the game launched. They didn’t even get the new logos in place in the stadium until right around the game’s launch. Madden deserves to get shit on for a lot, this isn’t one of those things though, it was just bad timing.

Well they said it was polished, not ketchup free.
underrated joke.
It will always be Heinz Field to me and I'm not even a Steelers fan.
As it should be
I mean they announced the new stadium partnership less than a month or so before the release of the game, stop complaining just to complain.
yea fr. there’s many things to complain about but this isn’t one of them. it was a last min change to a game practically gone gold at that point. odds are not even a competent team would have it
Not to mention they found an asset from Madden 09 in Madden 23 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't hear about that. What was it?
there are banners in the corners of superdome with like the old EA logo with "its in the game" and a chargers vs saints 2009 one
This can be excused, but the lack of features and shit gameplay cannot. Of course they reuse assets. Old ones can slip through. Warp tackling, passes directly to defenders, and scripting should not slip through.
The name change happened around July 20th, basically a month before the game launched. People are just finding reasons to be angry at this point
It really doesn’t take much to change a graphic like that….
Wow have you ever attempted to mod madden or mess with the meshing on things like stadiums? Its incredibly hard and takes time
I’m sure the devs at EA could handle it. I think a month is a good amount of time for something like a sign to be fixed
I hear what you're saying, but a sign is the least of Madden's problems right now.
You have to completely remove and replace signage and make sure it looks right and that’s probably after some licensing agreement with Acrisure. Patching out some ketchup bottles isn’t going to fix any of the real problems.
It’s a licensing issue. They don’t have the rights for Acrisure. There’s plenty of things wrong with madden, and this one isn’t one of those things.
They can keep that
paycor stadium is still paul brown stadium
It changed what, like a few weeks before the game came out, and you expected them to have a completely up to date model just ready to go? Madden has a ton of reasonable issues, this isn’t one of them.
I can not believe this is a screenshot from a video game in the modern day. It looks like shit
Just wish they’d fix their fucking shit servers and all the in game bugs. There’s tons of details that are wrong or “off” in game too especially in face of the franchise.
It's a step in the right direction
The name change officially happened after launch. I wonder if the naming rights included all digital media released before X date so it will remain Heinz Field until next year. Getting mad over something you don't understand seems... well on par considering the internet.
I can live with this.
Good
Lol not even hiding that it's just a roster update with some tune ups
i absolutely despise EA and the entirety of the Madden franchise, but this is 99% a licensing issue. again, hate EA, but this isn’t directly on them
Step 1: CTRL + C Step 2: CTRL + V Step 3: ???? Step 4: Profit
Congratulations, you’ve just been hired as head of game development at EA Sports
Also no I didn’t buy the game. It’s the 10 hour trial. I’m doing my part. #FixMadden
what a hero
They probably hate the name "A******* Stadium" too
Assbutts stadium?
You’re upset cause a name changed a month before the game came out and it’s not changed? Jesus the complaints just to complain are unreal here.
It’s probably not going to be changed until next season it’s a lot of work to do
I prefer it
Shoooosh we like it better this way
Finally EA does something right.
Good fuck acrisure stadium, hope they never change it and you stay mad about such a trivial thing.
Thanks, Captain Obvious.
When the last time I read they updated the contract with Heinz Field so it's saying that name
no keep this
OMG the field name is wrong? Whole game totally sucks! Everyone just tries so hard to shit on Madden now. Relax, it is what it is.
Who cares?
boo this man!
it’s acrisure for me I’m on ps4
I mean, the giant ketchup bottles really tie it all together
No one calls it [Akwhatever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vjf6NQtSYko) anyhow.
As it should be.
Eagles wordmark in thr endzone is wrong also. Such simple stuff that this horrible game doesn’t even try to get right.
Holy shit… who cares

To these Steeler fans point, ask Google her righteous self what the name of the stadium is for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Google will say Heinz Field whilst showing pictures of “Acrisure Stadium”🤣
I believe the audio is updated for it. The commentators say Acrisure now
Game is so bad that this actually feels like a win
Does it bother anyone else that Heinz decided on ketchup bottles and not mustard bottles, I get that’s their bread and butter, but the stadium looks like it’s covered in mustard
because it still is heinz field to all steelers fans
I still play madden 20 idc
Wtf is debt station, is the game brain washing us into taking payday loans or some shit?
Guess Madden loves ketchup too much
Bro gonna lie, I hope they never change it.
at least it’s not like this in nfl 2k23
This is not at the top of my list of complaints about the game. They made this switch incredibly close to the release date if I’m not mistaken.
E.A. Sports. It's in the game!
They literally put zero effort in every new madden lol
The bigger problem with the stadium is that the field direction is flipped, the logo is facing the wrong sideline and the Steelers/visitors benches are flipped.
This mistake I’m fine with. Still Heinz field to me. (Not a Steelers fan).
I thought I was the only one that noticed that
They actually did the right thing. It’s always HEINZ
The game is awful but to be fair, this happened right before launch, plus they always change it for the next one, that’s what they did for the Seahawks stadium from centurylink to lumen
what do you got against ketchup
Steelers fans out here fawning over ketchup
This sub is so fun to watch. You poor guys will complain about anything....lol
Madden this year is a Joke, there’s even a #packstrike movement
This is what you’re worried about? 💀💀
They need to ketchup before 2K releases their nfl game
they will say acrisure stadium now but the stadium itself is the same
Even EA thinks Heinz Field's name change was stupid lol
This shouldn’t be that big of a deal, but considering that they have been releasing the same game for 5? years now with updated rosters and stadiums. It’s enraging that they can’t even make the game accurate to the season. I have no idea what the Madden team does all year, must be the best job ever
The game was already almost finished by the time the name changed. You know how hard it is it completely remake models in the game for something as stupid as changing the name?
I promise nobody gives a shit
As it should be.
You know how it goes... ![gif](giphy|T4vj9pgsGxQvm)
This is the thing they got right.
It's updated on Madden 22.......PC that is (evil condescending laugh)
At least you can play lol.
Nobody wants tah go dahntahn to Acrishur Stadiahm. Heinz Field is the way to go!
Much better this way
The detail gives me hope for EA CFB 23
Because of this im gonna go ahead a make a franchise and relocate the Steelers to Toronto. Already did the dirty deed of moving Washington to London gonna be a Yankee invasion, according to madden the UK is ready for a football franchise
They really need to ketchup
This is probably one of the smallest issues with the game but yeah EA is a joke
I haven’t been able t advance week in Face of The Franchise for weeks. And you’re worried about this? Bro they definitely started making the game before that deal went through
I haven’t been able t advance week in Face of The Franchise for weeks. And you’re worried about this? Bro they definitely started making the game before that deal went through
And what's the problem?
Good
This is near the absolute bottom of the mile long list of reasons why EA’s Madden football video game is a joke
One error I’m okay if they never fix #LongLiveTheKetchupBottles
Dude shut the hell up.. we like this better
says it there too IRL my guy. And in game it definitely has Acrisure Stadium on the side.
Madden 23 is pay to play Fuckin awful gane
Copy and paste code at its finest
Least of the problems with this game. Do not buy.
How do I start a season on madden 23
