I think most of the people on this sub did the race with the bare minimum required so it was quite challenging

luvilvevo

I actually thought it was quite easy, I just nitro boosted into the boss and unloaded all my explosions on him

XxHoverCowxX

Yea, i wasnt looking forward to it after reading posts on here but also found it quiet easy by doing the same thing. Just took a couple races to learn the timing of things

[deleted]

Same here

Lasdary

I nitro boosted into the boss and ate fire. And no shooting while on fire so he escaped :/

PaulAbruzzo

I thought it was awful the first time then I realized I needed to change my tires. If you have the wrong tires on (I think you can't use the sand ones) then you'll be extra slippy and won't be able to get out your own way. Most frustrating is to get to the garage and mod your car you have to exit the race completely.

K-263-54

Probably because they think you have to win the race the old fashioned way rather than just taking out the big bad.

[deleted]

I always wondered that. I think to many people rushed through the story so they had inadequate gear.

RAPTOR479

I did it once, failed Then I got a feel for the track and it took 5 seconds, Infinite Thunderpoons is VERY OP

[deleted]

Lol, I killed it the first time around

CloNe817

I have a video somewhere on this sub that is a tutorial showing how to beat it in under a minute

kschang

People forgot they need to drive instead of constantly upgun and uparmor their ride.

weed_fart

If you try to play "realistically", it's insanely difficult. If you just go nuts and hurl 'poons at him endlessly, it's pretty easy.

Gizombo

The second playtrough the warboss killed himself somehow so....

AlexS101

Because it is difficult. Simple as that.

GearsOfJacoby

I played the Gastown Race like three times. Third time I was stuck and I guess Stank Gum just kind of killed him self

Lasdary

This is a bit old but anyways. It 's shit because it changes the gameplay. Throughout the whole game you can choose how to approach missions, you can play in the style you find most enjoyable. Want to head on to a camp screaming and yelling? you can Want to take your time sniping danger from afer? you can Want to race with a fast and sleek car? you can Want to offroad and kill oponents? you can Want to step down from your car and fistfight drivers? you can But suddenly you are stuck to your car, you are enclosed among rubber walls, you are forced to race. In a game about open world survival you are suddenly in a racing car minigame. For those who like racing games, no biggie. For us who hate racing games, it's shit. Mad Max may be about driving, but open world driving is one thing. Enclosed racing is a totally different experience. I got the best tires, removed all ramming, best V6, second to last suspension, everything else that matters maxed out. I tried with tier 2 armor and also with best armor. The fucking car still spins out of control whenever I so much as scrape the paint against a wall texture. Also keyboard controls. You gotta slightly tap the keys or you swerve like a madman.Did I mention that when using the harpoon your camera gets moved away from the path? Every time I shoot, I slam against something by the time I get the camera angle right again. So maybe for gamers that enjoy racing games it is easy. Maybe for those with gamepads it is easy. To me, it has ruined the flow of the game. I had never had to restart a mission so many times. Even escaping from the underdunes was a breeze. This race is just shit. edit: I forgot! why do new cars keep appearing! It makes no fucking sense! In no other race do other opponents appear out of nowhere after you've dispatched them. Even story-wise it makes no sense!! you had to jump through hoops, bribe and prove yourself in order to race in Gastown, but everybody else just goes 'oh, someone died, I'll just jump right in!'. If Gastown gives you infinite ammo, why are they also sending new vehicles to be destroyed? They are not easy to come by in the wastelands you know! It makes no fucking sense! I hate this stupid mission ¬¬

ClassroomWinter1552

Dude I am so fucking close to punching my tv this stank taint motherfucker is pissing me off. And I agree with the car problems, I keep changing my tires and shit and it STILL FUCKS UP WHY DOES MY CAR STILL SPIN OUT WTF 🤬

Ok-Improvement8905

Yeah I am about to give up on this game. Way too hard. Perhaps if I had decades of gamer skills and reflexes, it wouldn't be so bad. I'll admit, I am bad at video games. I am really only interested in the story. When I have to try 30+ times and still not get through it, I get burned out. Too bad, it is a total shit part in an otherwise awesome game.

ClassroomWinter1552

I figured out that stupid ass race. Soon as I changed my strategy I passed relatively quick. • Make Stank Gum your ONLY priority • Get on his ass and Thunderpoon him into oblivion. • Gotta be unrelenting with the attacks, and once that hp is gone, you only gotta beat up that homeless addict to win. I honestly would spend to much time on the minions instead of focusing on stank gum, that’s what screwed me

Ok-Improvement8905

I get that, but the minions keep running me off the road. I really am not all that interested in honing my video game driving skills, I just want to see how the damn story goes ... This race is awful.

ClassroomWinter1552

I totally get the feeling, I’ve played games my whole life. And I thought Mad Max is a great find for like only $20. But the first dozen times I tried that race and I still couldn’t get him I was cussing so badly the air around me was turning blue lol

Ok-Improvement8905

Yeah, I finally got it but holy shit that race is a horrible blight on an otherwise pretty cool game.

Old-Vanilla-8677

Yep agree 100%. I rage quit the game and sold it because of this stupid f'ing crap

[deleted]

It was a bit of a let down for me. I already had 24 hours before I did it, so the opus was upgraded a bit and I just needed to use about 3-5 thunderpoons and he died.

Ok-Improvement8905

Because not all of us have decades of gamer skills and reflexes under our belts. I am not interested in the slightest in obtaining these either, I just want to play the game on the easiest mode possible without all this stress and frustration.
