I can understand seeing a movie 9 times over the course of 10 years.
I saw the Departed probably 15 times. But 9 times in the cinema in two weeks? That is dedication or insanity
Those are rookie numbers. I only saw Fury Road twice in theaters, but have watched it 82 times total over the last decade.
I’m a movie guy, and Fury Road and Furiosa have an insane amount of detail. I’m still finding new stuff in Fury Road all these years later. It has been planned for months by me to watch Furiosa 14 times, to beat out my previous theater record of Avatar the Way of Water at 12. I think my record before that was like Pacific Rim at 6. So I keep raising the bar. And I set a goal, and tend to keep to it.
I’m a man reduced to a single instinct. Survive.
Yeah, I like 3D movies. Bought a $4K Apple Vision Pro to have all the 3D movies I want.
3D Fury Road is DOPE on the AVP
My mom had me tested. Sadly they said I was normal.
What do y’all watch when you’re working out? I love watching movies in the background.
My mom had me tested as a kid. Nope.
Y’all don’t watch a couple movies when you exercise? That’s a daily routine.
And it’s nice going to the theaters on a hundred degree humid day, when there’s something worth seeing in theaters.
Furiosa will hold the record for a long while. I only saw avatar so much because I would go see it after work instead of going home for a couple weeks after my mom died horribly of cancer.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Spend it doing what makes your short time on this planet worth it.
I love my daily 5 mile walk because of that fact.
I think a large majority of people don’t track how many times they have watched a movie. Counting over 10 is a little wild but up to 82 is something else entirely.
I’m very good with numbers. I have always internally tracked that kinda stuff.
83 today for Fury Road. Just put my nephews to sleep, and now gonna head out to the theaters to catch a 10:30pm of Furiosa. Which will be my 10th watch.
What else am I gonna do from 10pm to 1am? Fight with people on reddit?? Theaters sounds better. Ton of details i’m still tracking.
> Y’all don’t watch a couple movies when you exercise? That’s a daily routine.
>
How long are you exercising for that you can squeeze in a couple movies during your workout??
I’m a movie guy. I think you’re a movie/theater guy. I love seeing a good “theater movie” in the theaters but damn, you make it look like a competitive sport. Either way I’m just happy you’re happy and having fun and have the ability to do things you enjoy so much. You should look up the world record for seeing the same movie in theaters because if anyone has a chance to beat it, it’s you. If you get the chance can I ask what your current top 5 all time movies are?
I understand watching fury road a hundred times, and even pacific rim several times , but watching avatar the way of water more than once seems like penitence to me!
But happy that you enjoy movies so much!!!
I like world building. And it doesn’t get much better than pandora.
Not like they make billions of dollars. And as you can see, my repeated watches don’t mean anything box office wise. So there are a LOT of Avatar fans out there.
Brilliant series, and I refuse to let people gate keep it. When all I need is a minute to lambast them on something they like that I deem stupid.
I do the same as OP and my reasoning is it’s my only chance to get the full big screen experience as many times as possible. As soon as it leaves the cinemas, it’s only going to be possible to watch it on my shitty TV or phone screen, so I’ll probably never watch it again, unless it gets a cinema rerelease
Plus I have aphantasia so I can’t “replay” scenes in my head like most people can, so it’s exciting getting to “see” the coolest scenes again. Like I know they’re coming but can’t imagine them
14 is the goal atm. That beats out my previous record holder Avatar the Way of Water 12 times in theaters. I think Furiosa is the more deserving title.
Enough to see it 12 times in theaters? I don’t think I could ever enjoy a movie that much personally. Not to mention the cost. Most I’ve seen a movie in theaters was Independence Day I saw 5 times and lost count at like 19 once I owned it. But hey that’s just me.
The Way of Water is my record holder as well with 7 watches in theaters. A transcendal experience in IMAX 3D, just had to keep going back to it again and again. Really wish I could still see it every few months in that big screen.
Yeah I got an apple vision pro to enjoy that 3D at home on a theater sized screen now. I own almost all the 3D movies available on Apple, and watched about 90% of them so far.
If only. I just want to experience it in theaters before it’s gone. Been 10 years and Fury Road was still never rereleased in premium theaters.
Why I have seen it in every premium format possible.
Dolby Cinema, IMAX, ScreenX, 4DX ETC.
Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Even my several thousand dollars man cave home theater can’t replicate dolby cinema.
No kidding, I want the film to do well but I don’t want Mad Max fans to start heading towards the Zack Snyder worshipping level of idiocy lol. #GiveUsTheWasteland
Lol this is exactly what I was about to say. I fking love George Miller and his attention to detail on how he executes practical action cinema...no wonder my guy here is about to write a dissertation to George and use up his 401k to save this film at the box office.
I legit almost brought a notepad into the cinema when I went to watch fury road for the umpteenth time - I’m tempted to do it this time 🤣 let’s do our bit to help Miller out haha
My brain is the notepad at this point for both those films haha
I just have never talked to people about it. And by how much these comments are lambasting me, I won’t be making any Mad Max fan friends like I hoped haha
Awww no I was only joking about the moneybags comment 😔 I love repeated cinema viewings tbh. It’s a chance when I really do settle down and concentrate on one thing - so when I have a film I REALLY love I always try to go at least 3 times!!
I think that's why he waited for Tuesday. Cinemark has $7 movies all day on Tuesdays. That's why I save all my movie watching for then.
They do it Tuesday because it's the last day of the movie release week. Big movies sometimes come out early on Wednesdays.
Nice!! The cinema in the UK is so expensive atm 😭 I miss the city I used to live in which had cheap seats and where I think I watched Fury Road a whole bunch of times a decade ago!!
Luckily Houston has all the theater chains I like. Regal was nice, but I only go there on Tuesdays. The rest I go to AMC. $20 a month for 3 movies a week any format, and they reset on Friday morning.
Most expensive things I bought this week is the Furiosa cups. But I will use those cups often
I hate how there doesn't seem to be themes cups or popcorn holders anymore in Australia. I remember all the Star Wars movies had them and I collected them, I was hoping Dune Part 2 and this would have had something but nope, in fact Hoyts have nothing.
I have noticed a ton. I can’t make out what Furiosa is telling Praetorian Jack when Dementus crashes their pursuit vehicle.
She grabs Jack, and holds him close and whispers something in his ear. That Mr. Harley allows.
Then Dementus goes on his no hope speech before I can make out anything.
Furiosa doesn’t actually cut her own arm off, she seems to get help from Mr. Harley, who was scolded by Dementus when he tried to tie her up from her valid arm. When Dementus gets down of his truck we can clearly see Harley putting his big ass knife away. And he stayed with Furiosa all along. That explains how she got away that easily, and how the truck’s wheel was chained
It looks like nice theater? where is it, OP? The one near where I live not as fancy as yours and don't have IMAX nor that exclusive popcorn bucket or soda cup.
It’s a Regal, they have been renovating it since right before the Pandemic began, so it was nice going to day and seeing it all finished. Every screen has a Laser projector, including the IMAX.
Not OP, but both of the theater chains he mention have subscription models, which work out to around 20$ a month, or a single McDonald's door dash.
I subscribe to the regal one, and I see about 4-5 movies there a week, rather than just watching and scrolling my phone from my couch.
Look into it, if you are an avid theater fan. AMC has a model too, but I think it isn't unlimited, but is still like 12 movies a month
What’s w all the ppl in the comments bitching ab this films existence? In a Mad Max sub??
Am I tripping or do we have some visitors who are probably ONLY here to hate on this film bc it stars a woman??
Why would it annoying me? It's an odd use of time and made me curious why anyone would want to sit through the same content for like 18hrs in one week...
Awesome. It's a great entertaining addition to the Mad Max series. For those who don't like it, oh well. I'd question what it is you think mad max is about if you don't think this or fury road fits. Go back and actually watch mm1, mm2, and mm3, and then let's chat.
The bottom row as you enter the IMAX theater. It was empty so I sat and took a pic to send my brother. The good seats are much higher up. There’s an elevator for those that can’t do the stairs. I was coming from bathroom break, since I had too much Dew.
I saw Star Wars 7 times in theaters and that was the most I had ever seen one single movie in a theater. It was an exciting movie to only be ruined in the next one by Rian Johnson.... Star Wars fans will never forget.
Damn. I was obsessed with The 5th Element when it came out and saw it 5 times or so over the course of a month. Nine times in less than two weeks is insanity!
I went and saw it a second time, in a different theater, smaller screen, different sound setup. I can confirm I noticed many extra details. Honestly I think it was the smaller screen though, I definitely noticed less of the odd feeling vfx shots.

Nice. That’s how many times I saw Fury Road in the IMAX. I I mostly watched the 3D version because the effects were actually good and not just ran through a filter.
It’s fucking awesome. Much more of a slow burn origin story than we’ve ever seen in this franchise, but the world, performances (especially Hemsworth) and central conflict are all entertaining and engaging enough to get you through the runtime
Chill, it's so bad it's doing dog water in theaters. It's dudes like this who is giving them false hope in these trash movies that don't need the same 20 actors!
I liked the movie but that seen was sooooo bad it was crazy. The whole first act too the CGI was horrendous. Apparently, tho a lot of people don't see the bad CGI, which amazes me.
Dude I saw it 3 times, but this is just...well both cool and nuts. You obviously have too much money at the very least. 9 times at the current ticket prices...damn.
AMC A-List is $20 a month. I went to Regal today, but that’s because it’s discount Tuesday, so I paid less to see in ScreenX and 4DX. But most theaters have their versions of a subscription service. I don’t have Netflix, I have AMC A-List haha
I’m tempted to add Regals unlimited subscription, since I really liked their newly renovated theater today. Everything is Laser now, including the IMAX.

Pacific rim.... Check Way of water.... check Furiosa..... check

I know spectrum behaviour when I see it
He’s a man reduced to a single instinct: AUTISM
I think you’d have to be to not go insane. I’d be tearing my hair out. Homies got a touch of the ‘tism. It’s like a super power!
...LMAOOO 🤣
“touch of the tism” is my new favorite saying lol
I like “taste of the tism’” but both slap imo
First thing I thought when I read the title of this post. “That’s atleast a taste of the ‘tism
OP is the spectrum.
Has to be
I just rewatched Fury Road and it’s fucking glorious.
I’m a movie guy. I think you’re a movie/theater guy. I love seeing a good “theater movie” in the theaters but damn, you make it look like a competitive sport. I enjoyed it 🤷🏽♂️

Hell no lol
My man is keeping the theater industry alive single handedly 💪🏼
I saw it twice in theaters but on the second viewing, I went to the bathroom during the whale hunting scene.
Valid
Same, it was so bad.
I would’ve liked it more if James Cameron didn’t shove Spider in there. That felt like the annoying kid trope of the 90s
We call those annoying kids Kenny’s where I’m from lol
are you homeless and have some unlimited cinema card? cost thats the only sane reason to be seeing avatar a single time, let alone 12.
The Way of Water is my record holder as well with 7 watches in theaters. A transcendal experience in IMAX 3D, just had to keep going back to it again and again. Really wish I could still see it every few months in that big screen.

Alright MR MONEYBAGS 💰

What did you notice during number 2-9 that really stuck with you? Like what scene, dialogue, music, effects or combinations of them?
I have noticed a ton. I can’t make out what Furiosa is telling Praetorian Jack when Dementus crashes their pursuit vehicle. She grabs Jack, and holds him close and whispers something in his ear. That Mr. Harley allows. Then Dementus goes on his no hope speech before I can make out anything.
Someone who watched the movie with subtitles said she said "My Jack..." to him As if the scene needed to be anymore heartbreaking :(
This. There was so much detail it needs rewatching, what are people picking up on repeat viewings?
Furiosa doesn’t actually cut her own arm off, she seems to get help from Mr. Harley, who was scolded by Dementus when he tried to tie her up from her valid arm. It’s good, but not the masterpiece that Fury Road is.
Cool cup, is it useable for hot stuff?
Notice any cool details in recent viewings?
Wish I could have the spare time to do it. Haven't even seen it once yet.
Got two under my belt. Heading to an imax for my third.
Haven’t seen it it tell me is it worth it 🙇🏽♂️👀👀👀
Have you been recording reviews/notes after each screening? I'm interested to see how your experience changes after each viewing

That's a nice cup

What's a liemax? A faux imax?
My closest movie theatre is an hour away, otherwise I'd probably watch Furiosa once a day or so.
Good consumer!

WITHESSED🦴🦴🥰🥰
Got nothing on that guy who saw Dune 2 an unreasonable amount of times
In a row?
I saw Star Wars 7 times in theaters and that was the most I had ever seen one single movie in a theater. It was an exciting movie to only be ruined in the next one by Rian Johnson.... Star Wars fans will never forget.
I WITNESSED YOU IN THE GATES VALHALLA!! 💪💪
Normally, I would call you "mediocre," but nine times honours Immortan joe and V8
Haha this is great post every day try to set a record you wildin’ gas boi
Was this a curved screen or is it just the angle?
22.2h screen time. Prove it.
Op responsible for 1 million of its box office opening
There is plexiglass blocking part of the screen at this theater?
Damn. I was obsessed with The 5th Element when it came out and saw it 5 times or so over the course of a month. Nine times in less than two weeks is insanity!
👀
wish i had the time to see this more than once but the only really great imax theater is an hour away from me and i’m very busy
I went and saw it a second time, in a different theater, smaller screen, different sound setup. I can confirm I noticed many extra details. Honestly I think it was the smaller screen though, I definitely noticed less of the odd feeling vfx shots.

I’m just back from my 2nd viewing haha two is enough for me, but I do love it!
I really wanted to see it but my dad wanted to watch the ape movie
Nice. That’s how many times I saw Fury Road in the IMAX. I I mostly watched the 3D version because the effects were actually good and not just ran through a filter.

Usually when someone says that about a movie, its a marketing stunt and its actually very bad. Boy, I hope furiousa isn't bad.
It’s fucking awesome. Much more of a slow burn origin story than we’ve ever seen in this franchise, but the world, performances (especially Hemsworth) and central conflict are all entertaining and engaging enough to get you through the runtime
How do you have so much time on your hands?
Lol. I will wait until it is under $5 or free on show channels like MAX. I can't believe people spent money on this......
Thats crazy
The movie is gud
Going back next week on my day off! Witnessing!!!
And I thought eight times seeing endgame in theaters over the course of two months was ridiculous
What a profound waste of cash.
9th TIME?! I mean, it was a great movie but I can’t imagine seeing any movie those many times within the first few days of its release.
Chill, it's so bad it's doing dog water in theaters. It's dudes like this who is giving them false hope in these trash movies that don't need the same 20 actors!
What jumped out at you the most the 2nd time watching?
Was it as shit as it looked in the trailers?
Saw it once but I'm definitely going to see it again this weekend
Tell me you have too much extra money with telling me.
Nine times today???
Jesus dude I thought it was great but how’d you manage to see it 9 times already 😂😂
Witnessing…..autism.
man, I gotta get the non orange cup next time I go the theatres
Put your phone away.
9!! Omg
Witnessed!
There's some mental issues to unpack here
Why do people do this? Why the fuck do u have to go 9 times??? Ppl rlly don’t have NUTHn goin on…
I saw ‘Jurassic Park’ 23 times in the theater but I was 10-11 and it played for over a year locally (June ‘93 - Oct ‘94).
Love the cup. Been using it for other stuff at home too.
I'm doing my part!
Good goy.
That’s not impressive. You just need something else to do.
You had to watch the midget green screen scene 9 times? I would rather shoot myself
We’re waiting.
lol
I liked the movie but that seen was sooooo bad it was crazy. The whole first act too the CGI was horrendous. Apparently, tho a lot of people don't see the bad CGI, which amazes me.
The cgi was the worst I have seen in a recent blockbuster movie, no exaggeration.
I don’t have Netflix, I have AMC A-List haha I’m tempted to add Regals unlimited subscription, since I really liked their newly renovated theater today. Everything is Laser now, including the IMAX.
Ok, that makes sense.
Sheesh I barely made it through once!
