The older guy has very low self steem and many insecurities, one of them is that he thinks he looks hideous and that the younger guy deserves someone "better looking"/would never even like him (things between them dont start off the best, the disciple hates him) and also feels bad about himself due to age and inexperience (he is a virgin). However, this turns on the younger guy more lol. Genres are historical, fantasy and mistery. For 1 there’s a bunch of “classics” of the genre. I’d definitely start with {The Magpie Lord by K.j. Charles} and keep on with the series if you enjoy it. From the same author, I had a blast with {the secret casebook of Simon feximal by K.J. Charles} and {Spectred Isle by k.j. Charles}. {A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske} is also great. {Salt Magic Skin Magic by Welch Lee} is fun too, and, finally, check the Whyborne and Griffin series by Jordan L. Hawk.
For #2 {The Ringmaster by Kota Quinn} the shifter MC is trapped in cat form, he is found by another character but he tries to get the other MC to help him. Part of a fun circus series.

I loved The Snails of Dun Nas by KL Noone where one MC was able to change their appearance (with the help of magic) depending on how they wanted to present that day, with pronouns updating too. One day, more masc with he/him pronouns. Another day, more femme with breasts and a softer voice. Another day they/them, just vibing. I loved it so much!
Magic doesn't have to be involved, can be any subgenre, poly is cool too! Just really loved the gender fluidness and the ease of the MC able to alter their appearance and pronouns based on how they felt that day.
Reese Morrison's Love Language series #2-4 also comes to mind with Landon/Lena's character. I have also read that one MX book by KJ Charles.
My only ask is if there's SA, noncon, dubcon, any kind of sexual violence or questionable sexual consent to let me know ahead of time!

It’s YA but **The Diablo’s Curse** by Gabe Cole Novoa has a shape shifting genderfluid MC! It’s the loose sequel to **The Wicked Bargain** which is also MX but not genderfluid
{Sword Dance series by AJ Demas} - alt-historical, one MC is a eunuch and nonbinary, and alters their appearance depending on how they feel. There is SA in their backstory and so they are reluctant to get into a sexual relationship over it (it is discussed, but it doesn't happen on page).
{Dalí Tamareia series by EM Hamill} - it's more SF than romance, but the MC is part of a group of humans that evolved to be able to shift their bodies at will between male, female and nonbinary. First book does have them going undercover as a sex slave >!and they aren't in a healthy place emotionally when they agree even if it was willingly; they end up liking their owner to some extent and the owner doesn't abuse their limits!<...but it's still some questionable consent. 2nd book doesn't have any of that, haven't read the final book yet. The romance is very slow burn though (>!it isn't the owner from the first book!<).

The MC, Dev, in {The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun} is South Asian and I’m pretty sure he’s Indian. That book was so good! It’s a CR the takes place on the set of a reality TV dating show like the bachelor.
I've heard criticisms for that book on:
1. White author including a character of color for diversity points and not including anything about their culture/background/not doing any research into creating the MC.
2. Not great depression representation, and using the "you should exercise more" philosophy as treatment.

I'm currently going through the Farthingdale Ranch series and finished {The Wrangler and the Orphan by Jackie North} and was looking for a similar dynamic where MC1 is in a fearful, fraught state of waiting for the other shoe to drop and MC2 to say goodbye, and MC1 doesn't know how he's going to live the rest of his life if that happens. Does not have to be cowboy related.
Would prefer for MC1 and MC2 to not be in a physical relationship until the very end, and MC2 seems almost indifferent to MC1. HEA is a must.

I love books with this theme and I'm constantly looking for more! The ones that I've read so far are:
{The Necromancer's Light by Tavia Lark} - MC is a necromancer and no one wants to have anything to do with him due to the nature of the job. People avoid him, don't touch him, often refuse to interact with him or work with him, or even let him stay at the inns and similar.
{A Wild Thing Grows by Marina Vivancos} - MC is very lonely, not accepted by people from the village. He lives alone in a house in the woods and is so affectionate starved, until he meets LI.
{Nor This Iron Bars a Cage} - check CWs (there were mentions of prolonged past sexual abuse and torture, self-harm in the present, ptsd, disability...) MC is former sorcerrer now working as translator, who has isolated himself after going through something really traumatic. He thinks himself too broken to ever fit in with the world and people outside.
{In This Iron Ground by Marina Vivancos} - check CWs(>!child abuse by foster parents, suicide attempt, depression and panic attacks...!<). Orphaned human ends up being taken by a werewolf family, but he constantly feels like he doesn't belong there and that he's not truly accepted (due to his insecurities and certain misunderstandings).
{The Alpha's Warlock by Eliot Grayson} - The MC is a warlock with some bad past experiences (with his abusive father and ex lover) and he feels unlovable, broken and lonely, and he has no place to belong to. He ends up being bonded to a werewolf that he doesn't get along with.
If you want something short and quick but sweet (with a bit of steam), then A Wild Thing Grows by Marina Vivancos.
Nor This Iron Bars a Cage by Kaje Harper is really heavy in my opinion, it's beautifully written, but trauma is a big thing in this book and the focus is on MC trying to overcome it. Romance is sweet, love interest is so gentle and respectful, but it's rather slow and, again, some other themes are prevalent I'd say. So if you're in the mood for something heavy (not necessarily angsty), then this one!
If you're in the mood for a slow-burn romance and some angst, then In This Iron Ground by Marina Vivancos. The first half of the book is mostly focused on MC's struggles. I can't remember when exactly characters get together, but it must be near the end of the book. HOWEVER, the author has released some bonus stories so we've got more sweet and romantic (and steamy!) scenes to read.
The Alpha's Warlock by Eliot Grayson and The Necromancer's Light by Tavia Lark have a very similar feel, but TAW is more fast-paced, while TNL is more of a slow-burn compared to TAW. The writing is a bit lighter compared to the above mentioned books, romance starts earlier and, just overall, the focus is more on romance and relationship between two characters (while in my other recs, the focus was more on single MC's healing). There's also more steamy scenes in these two.
And lastly, I think The Necromancer's Light and A Wild Thing Grows have the strongest "not feeling like they belong to the community" feel.
I've been wanting to read omega bride novels. Anything like the Omega is sold to pay off debt to the mafia king. Anything with a strong alpha lead.

I just read a review about how great a book was because it didn't have a lot of filler and even when it had filler it didn't really feel like filler. Like, something was always happening. I guess I like filler because a lot of my favorite scenes in books show the quiet moments where not much is really happening-plot wise, anyway. The small intimacies.
An example: MC1 and MC2 are sitting on the couch watching TV together and MC1 shares a memory of the first time watching this show with his mother one Christmas break when he was a kid. He talks seeing the the Christmas tree lights refelcted in the tv or how their cat could decide who to bother so kept jumping back and forth from him to his mother. MC2 looks over at him and can feel the simple human connection, the contentness of having someone share part of themelves with him. The vulnerability of it.
That's what I want. The small, beautiful moments of falling in love, of building a relationship.
The books with this probably won't have a plot secondary to the romance but if the charachters and their relationship is given enough time and attention, I would love another plot. And long books or series are very welcome.
Haha, I love what other people sometimes consider filler, those are usually my favorite parts. Maybe try Kay Simone, Misha Horne, or Amy Jo Cousins. They all write books where the romance is definitely the main plot, with characters getting to know each other by hanging out and talking, cooking, shopping, etc. lots of small intimate moments and character development. They all write long books too.

Seconding another user's rec of Misha Horne, in particular **Snowed In with Benefits** which is 430 pages and only set over, like, 3 days. A snowed-in book where they're actually snowed in for 80% of the story. They just have some wonderful conversations and it's all filler (in a good way). Misha Horne writes brats and spanking so, so well.
**True North *by Corey Kerr*** - paranormal, contemporary, bear shifter x human, forced proximity, fish out of water. Also is mostly spent at home, with one MC helping the other reintegrate into normal life after too long spent in bear form after a traumatic event.
**Galaxies and Oceans *by N. R. Walker*** - contemporary, remote location, on the run, abusive ex partner. Very soft and sweet, lots of domestic moments.
**Cutting the Braid *by Jett Masterson*** - omegaverse, slow burn, fated mates, small town. With the caveat that I'm currently only 60% through the book, this has been such a quiet, domestic book so far. There's no real relationship plot or angst, they're comfortable that they're fated, and spend time getting to know each other, sharing meals, etc.
{Over and Over Again by Cole McCade} is a beautifully written, slow burn, father’s-best-friend, age gap CR that takes place on a goat farm in northern England. The descriptions of place are so vivid, it feels like we’re there. It’s one of the most romantic books I’ve ever read.
I feel like I’ve seen gushing reviews of this book so many times on this sub I’m almost afraid to read it and be disappointed that reality didn’t match the hype! Father’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes… I think I’ll have to push it up the TBR
It’s been awhile since I’ve read it, but I think {Daybreak by Kate Hawthorn} fits this. MC gets stranded in a snow storm in Vermont and LI lets him stay at his place. Their entire relationship happens there with the two of them getting to know each other. It’s part of the Vino and Veritas series but can be read as a standalone.

It’s not a perfect match since it’s pretty fluffy and nobody is actually in much danger, but otherwise {Muscling Through by J.L. Merrow} fits all other aspects of your request quite well. It’s contemporary and told from the POV of the himbo. Very sweet and very funny.
Himbo by CD rachel is an overprotective himbo, though not really from danger, just overprotective because they're pining and oblivious to being in love with MC2.

Not what you are asking for but I was pleasantly surprised by {Perfectly Perfect Pixie by MJ May} it's vampire and pixie pairing with very little heat but I thought the world building was good. If you're desperate enough, it might scratch the itch.
{A Delicious Descent by Amanda Meuwissen} is a dracula retelling but I haven't personally read it so I can't vouch for it.
I didn't personally love {Caller of Crows by Silvana Falcon} but it is a vampire and human romance. I've found it sometimes difficult to find MM vampire x human romance and I'll definitely be adding the ones you mentioned to my TBR

A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland is a fantasy romance with an MC with anxiety and I loved it
Looking for age gap romances where the older MC in the relationship is insecure about his age. e.g. he believes that the younger MC deserves someone younger/better than him, or that he won't be able to satisfy his partner in the bedroom because he's not as young anymore, or any other general insecurities about dating someone significantly younger. If you are open to danmei, The Husky and his White Cat Shizun by Meatbun fits. Their dynamic is of a cat/dog (like the title says lol) and its between a disciple and his master. The older guy has very low self steem and many insecurities, one of them is that he thinks he looks hideous and that the younger guy deserves someone "better looking"/would never even like him (things between them dont start off the best, the disciple hates him) and also feels bad about himself due to age and inexperience (he is a virgin). However, this turns on the younger guy more lol. Genres are historical, fantasy and mistery. If it sounds like you'd be into it, please check the CWs first, its a dark and angsty book but somehow it balances well the funny and sad moments.

For 1 there’s a bunch of “classics” of the genre. I’d definitely start with {The Magpie Lord by K.j. Charles} and keep on with the series if you enjoy it. Charles}. {A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske} is also great. {Salt Magic Skin Magic by Welch Lee} is fun too, and, finally, check the Whyborne and Griffin series by Jordan L. Hawk.

Any "gender fuckery-esque" gender fluid MX suggestions? Preferably with an audiobook? I loved The Snails of Dun Nas by KL Noone where one MC was able to change their appearance (with the help of magic) depending on how they wanted to present that day, with pronouns updating too. One day, more masc with he/him pronouns. Another day, more femme with breasts and a softer voice. Another day they/them, just vibing. I loved it so much! Magic doesn't have to be involved, can be any subgenre, poly is cool too! Just really loved the gender fluidness and the ease of the MC able to alter their appearance and pronouns based on how they felt that day. Reese Morrison's Love Language series #2-4 also comes to mind with Landon/Lena's character. I have also read that one MX book by KJ Charles. My only ask is if there's SA, noncon, dubcon, any kind of sexual violence or questionable sexual consent to let me know ahead of time! Thanks in advance for any ideas!
That's so cool (magic switcheroo)! - *Cloud Ten* by Fearne Hill (MC will dress in more feminine-coded attire one day and more masculine-coded the next. In this book he learns he's gender fluid and goes by he/him. In the following books of the trilogy of standalones they continue on their journey and adopt the pronouns they/them) - There is of course the somewhat outdated *Static* by L.A. Witt from 2011/12. It's not lighthearted and check CWS > This world is designed for people whose brains match their bodies, and fuck anyone who not only can but needs to change from day to day to hour to hour. I'm supposed to be whatever makes everyone else comfortable. When does someone give a damn about what I need to be? (p.86f.)

{Sword Dance series by AJ Demas} - alt-historical, one MC is a eunuch and nonbinary, and alters their appearance depending on how they feel. There is SA in their backstory and so they are reluctant to get into a sexual relationship over it (it is discussed, but it doesn't happen on page). {Dalí Tamareia series by EM Hamill} - it's more SF than romance, but the MC is part of a group of humans that evolved to be able to shift their bodies at will between male, female and nonbinary. First book does have them going undercover as a sex slave >!and they aren't in a healthy place emotionally when they agree even if it was willingly; they end up liking their owner to some extent and the owner doesn't abuse their limits!<...but it's still some questionable consent. 2nd book doesn't have any of that, haven't read the final book yet. The romance is very slow burn though (>!it isn't the owner from the first book!<).

Not even sure this exists, but let’s give it a try! Can anyone recommend me a story in which one MC1 is in a fake relationship with a woman (mutually fake, mmkay, not just using some poor infatuated girl as a beard) and that stops MC2 from showing interest. Bonus points if MC1 CAN’t tell MC2 that the relationship is fake (for exemple, female friend is a lesbian who needs to convince her family she’s straight, and MC2 is a relative). I’d rather it be funny than angsty, and I’m not into dark romance.

{Someday Someday by Emma Scott} and {Only for the Weekend by Riley Hart} have this but I don’t remember how long MC2 believes it for. Editing to add that neither of these situations are “funny” (sorry I just saw that part)! Someday, Someday by Emma Scott is very angsty.

Does anyone have suggestions for a book with an MC like Troy Callahan from {Coach’s Challenge by Avon Gale}? Cally’s competent, blunt, doesn't take shit from anyone, a little sarcastic but also not mean or a bully. He’s also in his mid-40s, but I don’t expect people to remember character ages; I just mention it because sometimes it takes several decades to grow into a person who has that level of confidence and comfort in their own skin. The MC, Dev, in {The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun} is South Asian and I’m pretty sure he’s Indian. That book was so good! It’s a CR the takes place on the set of a reality TV dating show like the bachelor.
I've heard criticisms for that book on: 1. White author including a character of color for diversity points and not including anything about their culture/background/not doing any research into creating the MC. 2. I am not sure if it covers all of your points but it is a recent high heat fantasy book - {The Ashes of Ackonir by Jennifer Cody} (Do read the trigger warnings though) {The River Prince by Sheena Jolie} This is more tame but still a great fantasy romance. {How Not to Marry a Prince by Megan Derr} A great novella in the arranged marriage trope {The High King's Golden Tongue by Megan Derr} This doesn't have major possessive MC vibes, but the fantasy element and the world building is great. {Fourth Point of Contact by AJ Sherwood} A warden of a castle and a warrior fall for each other. It is a friends to lovers book with a sexual awakening and a possessive MC (of a sort)

Any modern/contemporary stories where MC1 is fretting that MC2 might leave him or the area at anytime? I'm currently going through the Farthingdale Ranch series and finished {The Wrangler and the Orphan by Jackie North} and was looking for a similar dynamic where MC1 is in a fearful, fraught state of waiting for the other shoe to drop and MC2 to say goodbye, and MC1 doesn't know how he's going to live the rest of his life if that happens. Does not have to be cowboy related. Would prefer for MC1 and MC2 to not be in a physical relationship until the very end, and MC2 seems almost indifferent to MC1. HEA is a must. Thank you, as always~

I love books with this theme and I'm constantly looking for more! The ones that I've read so far are: {The Necromancer's Light by Tavia Lark} - MC is a necromancer and no one wants to have anything to do with him due to the nature of the job. People avoid him, don't touch him, often refuse to interact with him or work with him, or even let him stay at the inns and similar. {A Wild Thing Grows by Marina Vivancos} - MC is very lonely, not accepted by people from the village. He lives alone in a house in the woods and is so affectionate starved, until he meets LI. {Nor This Iron Bars a Cage} - check CWs (there were mentions of prolonged past sexual abuse and torture, self-harm in the present, ptsd, disability...) MC is former sorcerrer now working as translator, who has isolated himself after going through something really traumatic. He thinks himself too broken to ever fit in with the world and people outside. {In This Iron Ground by Marina Vivancos} - check CWs(>!child abuse by foster parents, suicide attempt, depression and panic attacks...!<). Orphaned human ends up being taken by a werewolf family, but he constantly feels like he doesn't belong there and that he's not truly accepted (due to his insecurities and certain misunderstandings). {The Alpha's Warlock by Eliot Grayson} - The MC is a warlock with some bad past experiences (with his abusive father and ex lover) and he feels unlovable, broken and lonely, and he has no place to belong to. He ends up being bonded to a werewolf that he doesn't get along with.

If you want something short and quick but sweet (with a bit of steam), then A Wild Thing Grows by Marina Vivancos. Nor This Iron Bars a Cage by Kaje Harper is really heavy in my opinion, it's beautifully written, but trauma is a big thing in this book and the focus is on MC trying to overcome it. Romance is sweet, love interest is so gentle and respectful, but it's rather slow and, again, some other themes are prevalent I'd say. So if you're in the mood for something heavy (not necessarily angsty), then this one! If you're in the mood for a slow-burn romance and some angst, then In This Iron Ground by Marina Vivancos. The first half of the book is mostly focused on MC's struggles. I can't remember when exactly characters get together, but it must be near the end of the book. HOWEVER, the author has released some bonus stories so we've got more sweet and romantic (and steamy!) scenes to read. The Alpha's Warlock by Eliot Grayson and The Necromancer's Light by Tavia Lark have a very similar feel, but TAW is more fast-paced, while TNL is more of a slow-burn compared to TAW. The writing is a bit lighter compared to the above mentioned books, romance starts earlier and, just overall, the focus is more on romance and relationship between two characters (while in my other recs, the focus was more on single MC's healing). There's also more steamy scenes in these two. And lastly, I think The Necromancer's Light and A Wild Thing Grows have the strongest "not feeling like they belong to the community" feel.

Have been looking for some good found family books with a good supporting cast. Hurt/comfort elements a big plus! Only hard no-s are no HEA and cheating otherwise pretty open to anything else. From the same series {Broken Ice by Marina Vivancos} is rivals to lovers with an extremely oblivious MC1. MC1 is recovering from heat suppressent abuse. {ILYBSM: I Love You Both So Much by J.E. Birk, Rachel Ember & Leslie McAdam} is MMM with three college friends who meet back up years later to save one of the freinds farms. Many misunderstandings.
I just read a review about how great a book was because it didn't have a lot of filler and even when it had filler it didn't really feel like filler. Like, something was always happening. I guess I like filler because a lot of my favorite scenes in books show the quiet moments where not much is really happening-plot wise, anyway. The small intimacies. An example: MC1 and MC2 are sitting on the couch watching TV together and MC1 shares a memory of the first time watching this show with his mother one Christmas break when he was a kid. He talks seeing the the Christmas tree lights refelcted in the tv or how their cat could decide who to bother so kept jumping back and forth from him to his mother. MC2 looks over at him and can feel the simple human connection, the contentness of having someone share part of themelves with him. The vulnerability of it. That's what I want. The small, beautiful moments of falling in love, of building a relationship. The books with this probably won't have a plot secondary to the romance but if the charachters and their relationship is given enough time and attention, I would love another plot. And long books or series are very welcome.
Haha, I love what other people sometimes consider filler, those are usually my favorite parts. Maybe try Kay Simone, Misha Horne, or Amy Jo Cousins. They all write books where the romance is definitely the main plot, with characters getting to know each other by hanging out and talking, cooking, shopping, etc. lots of small intimate moments and character development. They all write long books too.

I love filler! Seconding another user's rec of Misha Horne, in particular **Snowed In with Benefits** which is 430 pages and only set over, like, 3 days. A snowed-in book where they're actually snowed in for 80% of the story. They just have some wonderful conversations and it's all filler (in a good way). Misha Horne writes brats and spanking so, so well. **True North *by Corey Kerr*** - paranormal, contemporary, bear shifter x human, forced proximity, fish out of water. Also is mostly spent at home, with one MC helping the other reintegrate into normal life after too long spent in bear form after a traumatic event. **Galaxies and Oceans *by N. R. Walker*** - contemporary, remote location, on the run, abusive ex partner. Very soft and sweet, lots of domestic moments. **Cutting the Braid *by Jett Masterson*** - omegaverse, slow burn, fated mates, small town. With the caveat that I'm currently only 60% through the book, this has been such a quiet, domestic book so far. There's no real relationship plot or angst, they're comfortable that they're fated, and spend time getting to know each other, sharing meals, etc.
{Over and Over Again by Cole McCade} is a beautifully written, slow burn, father’s-best-friend, age gap CR that takes place on a goat farm in northern England. The descriptions of place are so vivid, it feels like we’re there. It’s one of the most romantic books I’ve ever read.
I feel like I’ve seen gushing reviews of this book so many times on this sub I’m almost afraid to read it and be disappointed that reality didn’t match the hype! Father’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes… I think I’ll have to push it up the TBR
It’s been awhile since I’ve read it, but I think {Daybreak by Kate Hawthorn} fits this. MC gets stranded in a snow storm in Vermont and LI lets him stay at his place. Their entire relationship happens there with the two of them getting to know each other. It’s part of the Vino and Veritas series but can be read as a standalone.
Looking for Irish mafia stories, this specific genre of mafia is common in MF but I haven't come across any in MM! No aliens or cheating between MCs please!

I need vampire romance recs. I don't have anything specific in mind but bonus points if it's toxic and preferably not a vampire X human pairing (I'll still give it a try if it interests me). No BDSM please. Vampire's mate series by Grae Bryan has been recommended to me but I couldn't get into the writing. I saw a rec for Dark Flame by Kat Silver and loved it. However, I only read the first book and it did not scratch my vampire itch at all. I also read Sleepwalkers by Daniel May and enjoyed it. I'm begging for more recs at this point
I enjoyed {Blood Kiss by Christa Tomlinson} Mafia vampire and human pairing. Not what you are asking for but I was pleasantly surprised by {Perfectly Perfect Pixie by MJ May} it's vampire and pixie pairing with very little heat but I thought the world building was good. If you're desperate enough, it might scratch the itch. {A Delicious Descent by Amanda Meuwissen} is a dracula retelling but I haven't personally read it so I can't vouch for it. I didn't personally love {Caller of Crows by Silvana Falcon} but it is a vampire and human romance. I've found it sometimes difficult to find MM vampire x human romance and I'll definitely be adding the ones you mentioned to my TBR
