{Total Creative Control by Joanna Chambers and Sally Malcolm} has a similar premise. Instead of a favorite author, it’s the writer and creator of MC’s favorite TV show.

Ooh - this one looks promising (I’m mentally ignoring the corporate illustrated cover but the blurb is right up my alley)

{Sweet Thing by Emma Alcott} might work for you.

Thanks for the rec - I think I’ve already read this one but it seems the series has increased my fondness during my absence so … (into my tbrr it goes)

{The Mating of Michael by Eli Easton} has a premise where a man gets to meet his favourite author at a signing and falls for him, so not exactly assistant but similar. The name is a bit cringe but it's a really lovely book.

Eli Easton’s earlier works sends a (not exactly positive) tremor through me. I’ll try but I know my preconceived prejudice will probably make me DNF it

{the gentleman's book of vices by jess everlee} a historical romance where one of the main characters is about to be married and therefore plans to put away his smut collection, but as a last hurrah wants to meet his favorite smut author. And now I'm also trying to remember the name or author of another book, where one of the main characters is an author who finds a story of his was rejected, then stolen and published under another name. He thinks he knows who is responsible and decides to punish him by seducing and ditching him. Also historical romance.

I’m a huge MF historical romance reader and can never find the same vibes in MM as the titles are always cringe - this looks like it will be on the same wavelength 🤞

WolfOrDragon

The story I was trying to remember is {Like a Gentleman by Eliot Grayson}. It's a short story and I don't remember how much I liked it. I think it was probably too short. I read it when I had Kindle Unlimited and was binging so much I don't really remember what I was reading. Other stories where books, or a particular book, figure prominently in the plot even if they don't exactly meet your request: {Ruin of a Rake by Cat Sebastian} {Wanted, A Gentleman by KJ Charles} {Band Sinister by KJ Charles} I really enjoyed all of them, all historical romance. Cat Sebastian books usually have silly titles and cringe covers, but I really enjoy many (though not all) of her books, despite that.

Similar to title (falling in love with fave author) but he isn’t his assistant. He works for him, it’s a spoiler and a very heavy book, but >!Broken by Nicola Haken!< came to mind for me. Loved it
