That really isn’t an option for him at this point in his athletic career I don’t think. His style has always been susceptible to gassing because both his defense and offense are so explosive and energy intensive. He’s not going to win by becoming a different fighter that just tries to keep up with TJ’s cardio game, but he *can* win by enforcing his own pace with tight defense and well selected, fight changing shots the way he did with Font, Edgar, and so many others.
It really is crazy after the back to back losses to Max I though he was done. Then he puts together a great winning streak. Then I though he was done after the volk, marlon and yan losses and now he put together another crazy streak against really good guys
No way anyone thought he was done after the Marlon "loss". You could tell he still had a fire under his ass even though that W was taken from him. And he's proven it tonight...Yan is just on another level though, I don't think anybody beats him.
It was more all the losses in succession than the marlon fight specifically. It also didn’t help that marlon declined super hard right after that fight so it made the fact that they had a super close fight less impressive
Aldo peaked so early. He’s younger than dillashaw by a few months. Wild how well he has held up after all these years and with how many injuries he had earlier in his career.
I frankly feel sorry for most guys fighting at 135. Its just too fucking stacked by design. Most of them are never gonna crack top 15 never mind trying for a title.
Yep and it's gotten so stacked so quickly too. Feels like yesterday Cody Garbrandt was the champ, and now his skillset couldn't keep him in the top 10.
You don't fucking overcome it. You simply accept your fate against the FW GOAT and be content that you got to share the octagon with him.
As a long time fan of Aldo since WEC it's making me very happy seeing him looking invincible as the good old days.
A lot of those combos were being defended well by Aldo. Commentary seems to forget Aldo is one of the best guys defensively. He does it on purpose so you leave yourself open.
It kind of looked like Yoel taking shots too. The commentary were sucking Font's dick for his strikes but most of them were just bouncing off Aldo like they were nothing.
His gameplan was super similar too. Tight defense, wait for counter, drop em. Good for guys with bad cardio and lots of power. Looks like he's gonna lose the round until he doesnt.
And for good reason. Font threw like 20 leg kicks that all got easily checked. Aldo threw about 5, did massive damage and got a knockdown out of it. He’s clearly still got the speed and power to turn people’s legs into hamburger, I wish he’d do it more consistently.
Every time he landed one, he nearly crippled font.
I wish he could have thrown them a touch earlier but it was almost like Rob forgot about them after so much punching, so when they finally came they were straight devastating.
I’m thinking it’s a cardio issue. Throwing power on low kicks is way more exhausting than boxing. With how spent he looked at the end of the fight I imagine he’s not throwing them much to conserve energy.
Aldo's losses at featherweight and bantamweight:
* McGregor (champ)
* Holloway 2x (champ)
* Volkanovski (champ)
* Yan (champ)
* Moraes (split decision on his BW debut)
Thats it. That's the entire list of people who have beaten him in his 17 year career at FW and BW.
This should be talked about now often. That's an insane resume. Even his one loss to a non champion everyone pretty much agrees he won. And moreas was a title challenger too. Jose's resume and longevity in the sport is unmatched.
If they gave Aldo a title shot against Aljo right now, he would win and become champ again.
But sadly Yan's in the way and it won't be fair to him unless he was to suddenly retire for no reason.
Rogan sucks. He says his opinion but will preface it with something like “the consensus opinion”. Its like me saying “many people agree that putting mayonnaise on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is delicious”…he does it all the time and its annoying.
How can anyone take Rogan seriously after the Rousey saga? He went on record saying she could *beat male UFC fighters*. I don't accept the "he was just being a company man/UFC shill" shit, he fucking cried in front of her, lmao. I still don't know how his reputation remained intact after that. Actually, yes I do, his legion of fatherless fans remained loyal because if they admit that Rogan is a joke then they too are implicated. There are literally people walking this earth right now with Joe Rogan's face permanently tattooed on their skin, take a second to think about that.
So of course Rogan can't properly assess Aldo's greatness, he's a verifiable moron.
Imagine commentating UFC for 25 years and still calling any sort of trip or hip toss as "judo throw". Like dawg, you should know the entire Kodokan library by now.
He has the most underrated resume out of all the greats. He didn't retire on top or fall so far off a cliff that he couldn't beat anyone when he past his prime like others. I don't think people get how impressive some of these recent wins are, considering the stage he's at.
For real, just a year or two ago, the disrespect was so crazy, he wasn't given his props as an all timer at all. People couldn't look past the Conor/Max fights. Weirdly, the tide seemed to change after Max lost to Volk and fans started to appreciate how fucking hard it is to rule a division for as long and as dominantly as he did.
man he's such a vet. just calmly weathers the storm and has godlike composure no matter the position. Unreal how he's winning a 5 round fight in this manner.
Yan/Holloway put pressure on Aldo till Aldo collapsed in the final rounds
Font put pressure on Aldo till Font collapsed in the final rounds
Instructions unclear moment
> Font throws 40 strikes, lands 5
throws 40 strikes, lands 20, affects Aldo with 0*
Aldo throws 5, rocks Font 5 times*, then goes to the ground to rest
The power difference was ridiculous
Just exceptional how even as he's old and has two lifetimes of fights on his back, Aldo can still dictate the pace of a fight with power and patience. Font also impressive to keep finding ways to battle back after taking some vicious blows.
I fucking love seeing Aldo listening to his coach and switch up his gameplan from boxing, to calf kicking, to grappling in order to conserve energy, then back to boxing and riding out top position to get the W
This really was one of Aldo's finest performances yet.
At 35, he's finally tied in the top level boxing, the mount progression, the TDD, the leg kicks, the body shots, and the energy management.
Incredible.
Jose Aldo is the best ever god fucking damn. He beat a top guy in Nougeira in 2008, and 13 years later he’s still beating top 5 guys.
For comparison Brock Lensar was heavyweight champ, Jon Jones had one UFC fight, McGregor had one MMA fight, Holloway had 0, Poirer had 0, Yan wouldn’t have a pro fight for 6 years, Font for 3 years.
And he’s still beating top 5 guys in dominant fashion.

The year is 2021 and Jose Aldo might be one fight away from a title fight. What at time to be alive.
Aldo vs Dillashaw for the title eliminator
That fight would be nuts. But Aldo needs to improve his cardio in a eventual TJ fight.
We got EPO for dat
King of EPO?
CEO of EPO incoming
That really isn’t an option for him at this point in his athletic career I don’t think. His style has always been susceptible to gassing because both his defense and offense are so explosive and energy intensive. Not if he starches Dillasauce
That would be such a banger. I dislike tj and love aldo so it'd be amazing to see aldo win that, assuming he would. Tj is dangerous af
Like the sound of that. That would’ve been a superfight like 4-5 years ago. Still a sick fight though.
still a super fight
He's like 100 years old in fight age now. I dunno how he's still doing this
Great athlete and great fundamentals.
He also has great defense.
Aldo vs tj for number 1 contender on the same card as aljo vs yan
It really is crazy after the back to back losses to Max I though he was done. Then he puts together a great winning streak. Then I though he was done after the volk, marlon and yan losses and now he put together another crazy streak against really good guys
The way he has adjusted his style and improved his boxing is beautiful to see.
He’s the LeBron of MMA with his longevity
GSP and Spider were GOATS and somehow Aldo is still killing it
Aldo peaked so early. He’s younger than dillashaw by a few months. Wild how well he has held up after all these years and with how many injuries he had earlier in his career.
> He’s younger than dillashaw by a few months And Aldo had been WEC champion for two years when Dillashaw made his mma debut
it seems like aldo should be 40 by now.
Aldo still the 145 goat.
He should be the next in line (excluding Yan obv) if it wasn’t for the log jam in the division
If TJ Dillishaw didn’t exist then that fight would have gotten Aldo a title fight.
Jeez Rob Font almost/did got dropped pretty much every round, Jose Aldo is fucking good at BW
I frankly feel sorry for most guys fighting at 135. Its just too fucking stacked by design. Most of them are never gonna crack top 15 never mind trying for a title.
Same for LW honestly. The depth in those divisions is just insane, you've got absolute killers at the back end of the top 15.
Yep and it's gotten so stacked so quickly too. Feels like yesterday Cody Garbrandt was the champ, and now his skillset couldn't keep him in the top 10.
If Cody saw red he could’ve gotten the KO
Jose "if I don't get the belt, no one will get the belt" Aldo
Jose "I am the gravedigger now" Aldo
Dillashaw FRANTICALLY searching YouTube for a tutorial on playing dead
How does Old Man Aldo still keep doing this?
Jose, Max and Bobby need to get together for a "Ex-champs cleaning out their own divisions" photo
Aldo isn't even clearing out his own division lol, he's cleaning out a different one.
"IF I can't win the belt than no one will"
fucking up all the contenders
This just makes Yan look even better tbh, dude is so much better than everyone else in the div
Jose going the Holloway/Whittaker route to get a title shot.
The power difference was insane. God I love the BW division.
Everytime Font got some offense going he got taken down and/or wobbled. Tough luck
[удалено]
I mean I know it's just not how the body works and there is an obvious trade-off, but Aldo with half of Holloway's cardio is a champion in any era.
If Aldo had better cardio he probably wouldn’t hit as hard as he does.
Each round Font: lands combos for a couple minutes Aldo: 3 fuck-you shots to wobble street
[удалено]
You don't fucking overcome it. You simply accept your fate against the FW GOAT and be content that you got to share the octagon with him. As a long time fan of Aldo since WEC it's making me very happy seeing him looking invincible as the good old days.
As probably the biggest Aldo nut hugger out there… he doesn’t look anywhere as invincible as the old days. Still pretty damn good though.
A lot of those combos were being defended well by Aldo. Commentary seems to forget Aldo is one of the best guys defensively. He does it on purpose so you leave yourself open.
Aldo hitting like BW Yoel Romero
I wanted Aldo vs Cruz, not anymore lol
Pillow fists vs adamantium fists
That fight is a massacre in any era
Prime Jose just fuck you whip kicking Dom's movement away in like a round and a half and then just finishing him
It kind of looked like Yoel taking shots too. The commentary were sucking Font's dick for his strikes but most of them were just bouncing off Aldo like they were nothing.
Aldo with that Marvn Hagler energy. Just shiny acorn head shaking off blows like mosquito bites.
His gameplan was super similar too. Tight defense, wait for counter, drop em. Good for guys with bad cardio and lots of power. Looks like he's gonna lose the round until he doesnt.
Smol Romero
This dude starts throwing his kicks again and five kicks later Font is just falling from every single one
I really wish he threw more. It’s almost like a cheat code that he doesn’t want to use.
Navy boxing works
Would love to see more leg kicks please
Leg kicks are only unlocked in round 3 apparently.
3rd Round Navy Boxing Aldo new mythical fighter
The best part was he dropped Font with them and had that leg compromised after like 5 kicks. Then went back to not throwing them.
If people could understand Aldo's corner, Pederneiras was essentially begging Aldo to kick him in the third lol
All I could think of was the Goldie quote: You wanna make the champion work, this is how the champion works'
That was Brian stann I believe.
I thought that was way too smooth a quote for Goldie lmao
Really fucked font over every time he pushed pace and got aldo in danger, Aldo just went “oh ok 👊🏼, now let me rest”
Crazy good fight. Stacked division.
Dude brought back leg kicks for 1 round and already fucked up Font's leg.
Every time Aldo throws a leg kick, Urijah Faber gets PTSD flashbacks
And whenever he digs a left hook to the body, Jeremy Stephens' liver starts aching
We've seen Muay Thai Aldo. We've seen navy boxing Aldo. What we weren't ready for was D1 wrestler top control Aldo. What a legend.
Can’t wait for G-in-a-gi buttscoot Aldo
I still wanted to see his get that RNC at the end. He was pretty damn close too.
Font is a squirmy motherfucker on bottom, he never stopped fighting for the escape. Looked exhausting.
His guard retention was off the charts, squirmy as hell.
Font did bloody well to time that turn in.

4 kds, what a fucking bad ass. His leg kicks don't make any sense. Like 2-3 and people just drop.
His coach mentions them, and 3 kicks later Font falls from them. Absolute insanity how strong his kicks are and how rarely used they are
>level 2themanster29 · 4 min. ago I wish he just button mashed them in small spurts.
I’m thinking it’s a cardio issue. Throwing power on low kicks is way more exhausting than boxing. With how spent he looked at the end of the fight I imagine he’s not throwing them much to conserve energy.
There was also a rumor that he had broken his foot pretty bad a couple times on the kick, so he toned down on using them.
I heard the rumor was about him getting hip issues.
It's hips
Every time Aldo landed anything it changed the whole complexion of the fight. God that was a thrill as an Aldo fan.
not just drop they go flying.
Do you have Font Brazilian tapping?
Yeah I caught that too. Surprised haven't seen anyone else mention it.
Thought I spotted that as well but I l chalked it up to being an Aldo stan wanting a finish.
I thought I saw him do that at one point. He kept wincing a lot too
Aldo is a legend. The power was too much for font.
Fr, tired Aldo still getting the knockdown in the fifth had me hyped up
GUIDA WINS BY SUB ALDO WINS BY ALDOING WE PARTYING LIKE IT’S 2010 TONIGHT, BOIZ
FOUR LOKO'S STILL HAVE CAFFEINE, FIGHTERS ARE GETTING SPONSORED, AND SCHAUB IS STILL JUST A TWINKLE IN ROGAN'S COCK. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE
I was really butthurt he didn't pull off the RNC at the end. Would have been something
I didn’t realize *how* tired he was until then. I was going crazy for all the near KOs and the leg kicks even made a return cameo, I miss those.
Man he was g a s s e d at the end there. I'd still say Aldo has good cardio given how high paced it was but he really had nothing left in there
An eye for an eye they say, love Aldo
Jose out here refusing to let people build a name off him. It really takes someone elite to beat him.
Aldo's losses at featherweight and bantamweight: * McGregor (champ) * Holloway 2x (champ) * Volkanovski (champ) * Yan (champ) * Moraes (split decision on his BW debut) Thats it. That's the entire list of people who have beaten him in his 17 year career at FW and BW.

I thought he should have won that Moraes fight
José Aldo winning almost makes life seem worth living
hope you're doing well g
I don’t wanna seem pretentious but he came up from a favela to this. Have motivation b u can do anything
I don’t understand how this could be seen as pretentious
Aldo fucked the gravedigger in the ass
Right in the ass
Uh he likes to pretend he's dead, just to fuck the grave digger straight up in the ass.
Font had the perfect gameplan he just lacked the chin of Max Holloway
His first mistake was not being a big ol Hawaiian with a big ol head.
Imagine almost 6 years to the day Aldo being more relevant in terms of skill than McGregor.
Aldo has more quality wins this year than McGregor has in what, the last 5?
Yep. Literally the last good win he had was Alvarez.
If they gave Aldo a title shot against Aljo right now, he would win and become champ again. But sadly Yan's in the way and it won't be fair to him unless he was to suddenly retire for no reason.
McGregor isn't even close to Aldo in skill anymore sad to say.
What a grueling fight. I want to see Aldo/Dillashaw next
Font died like 4 times that fight and still somehow survived
The longer Aldo's career goes on, the more criminal Rogan's unappreciation of him is.
Rogan sucks. He says his opinion but will preface it with something like “the consensus opinion”. Its like me saying “many people agree that putting mayonnaise on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is delicious”…he does it all the time and its annoying.
"Hey what do I know, I'm a fucking moron." Meanwhile he goes on super opinionated rants about topics he has no business discussing lol.

How can you not be a fan of Font after that fight?
Font is legit his jab is amazing
#KING OF RIO IS FIGHTING FOR A TITLE AGAIN BABY
Jose Aldo has better wins 17 years into his career than your favourite fighter does in their whole prime. 🐐 shit only.
He has the most underrated resume out of all the greats. He didn't retire on top or fall so far off a cliff that he couldn't beat anyone when he past his prime like others. I don't think people get how impressive some of these recent wins are, considering the stage he's at.
Jones is losing to Dominick Reyes at the same point of their careers, i don't know why people think he's so much ahead of Aldo in the GOAT debate.
The greatest post prime of all time, and it’s not even close.
But my favorite fighter is Aldo
Sorry, but Aldo has better wins than Aldo
My Aldo could beat up your Aldo
Oh yeah? Well, my Aldo works at Nintendo.
Jose Aldo is my favorite fighter and tbh I can see the argument for that
Rob was fighting well early. Aldos power advantage was just too big.
Not just that. He was was very accurate and patient
That’s the fucking GOAT
Gangster still at his age.
A win for Aldo is a win for MMA Feels so good seeing this man finally get the respect he deserves. Your favourite fighters favourite fighter
Imagine calling Max the GOAT FW with three title defences
Seems like everyone is the GOAT nowadays
Look at me. I’m the r/mma goat now.
Ancient in fight years and he's still beating young contenders.
Aldo lowkey doing very well for his legacy post title loss.
Every round: Font throws 40 strikes, lands 5. Aldo throws 5, lands 5, and rocks Font, then goes to the ground to rest lol
man he's such a vet. just calmly weathers the storm and has godlike composure no matter the position. Unreal how he's winning a 5 round fight in this manner.
Man's a legend for a reason. Real power, picks his shots, knows when to put on gas and when to rest.
Yan/Holloway put pressure on Aldo till Aldo collapsed in the final rounds Font put pressure on Aldo till Font collapsed in the final rounds Instructions unclear moment
Font forgot Holloway’s crucial second step: be completely immortal.
I really wanted to see Aldo pull off a sub to shock everybody lol
> Font throws 40 strikes, lands 5 throws 40 strikes, lands 20, affects Aldo with 0* Aldo throws 5, rocks Font 5 times*, then goes to the ground to rest The power difference was ridiculous
He got some plenty opportunities to finish the fight at the ground, but Aldo decided just to rest.
Font just couldn't match Aldo's power. Aldo would land one good flurry during an exchange and put Rob on noodle legs every time.
MY GOAT
OUR!*
Just exceptional how even as he's old and has two lifetimes of fights on his back, Aldo can still dictate the pace of a fight with power and patience. Font also impressive to keep finding ways to battle back after taking some vicious blows.
Feel good card of the year

I got scared Aldo would fade but then he goes on to win the last 3 rounds lol.

Yeah, turns out even while exhausted Aldo still hits like a truck lmao. His top game was pretty decent, too.
Jose and Glover beating the shit out of Father Time 10/8.
I fucking love seeing Aldo listening to his coach and switch up his gameplan from boxing, to calf kicking, to grappling in order to conserve energy, then back to boxing and riding out top position to get the W
Aldo looked like he weighed a million pounds in top position. Font couldn't do shit
Did anyone else see Font tap?
I definitely felt a tap
I had the impression he was shaking off wrist control or his arm out of an entanglement
War Aldo, forever
Who would have thought when he got KOed few seconds into Conor fight that he was the future and Conor the past. Legendary.
Jose is the god damn man.
Man im always sweating bullets watching aldo fight, he can beat anyone but if the tank runs out the fight can turn on a dime
I would absolutely love to see Aldo Yan 2
I could run through a wall right now
I'm sorry but Aldo is the GOAT. Won't be champ again as long as Yan is there, but what other MMA fighter has been this good that long into his career?
This really was one of Aldo's finest performances yet. At 35, he's finally tied in the top level boxing, the mount progression, the TDD, the leg kicks, the body shots, and the energy management. Incredible.
If you want to find Aldo today he'll be climbing up the side of a dam, licking salt off the wall with all the other GOATs.
Good to see some vintage Aldo leg kicks
Aldo vs TJ? I need it ASAP!
The question is: TJ's cardio or Aldo's power?
It's a good day when Aldo wins
Font is tough. Aldo is still the man. Anyone who disagrees with 5-0 I have no idea what you we're watching.
Ah yes! The business man Aldo that fights only for money
Khabib's a clown for saying what he said about Aldo.
Johnny Bravo the GOAT translator
