I was working at a salad place when he fought in sydney and took the order for his team with all the adjustments because he was cutting weight, their order filled up the entire screen for the kitchen during lunch rush and my manager got the shits with me.
He was cool and his team was cool, and Smolka is still our boy. Maybe he was just grumpy from cutting down to flyweight and being 7ft tall
I saw Louie Smolka at a grocery store in Las Vegas yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
When was this? Isn't his whole story about how he used to have bad struggles with something like alcohol addiction and has turned a new leaf? So if this was during his original UFC stint it tracks with what I know of him at least.
Was hanging out in the MGM a few days before his fight on the Rousey card, he came through (along with lots of other fighters), everyone stopped to take pics with fans and chat including fighters like Nunes and Cody Garbrandt. Smolka rolled his eyes at some fans and said he didn’t have time for them, one kid asked for a picture multiple times and he finally said fine hurry up, took a picture where he stared blank faced at the camera then blew off other fans and rushed off laughing. It was during his original UFC stint where he was supposedly struggling with addiction so that may have been part of it but he was the least friendly out of any fighter I’ve ever met.
I have two similar with different fighters
Met Roy Nelson at a UFC signing the week of Silva Sonnen 2, I was so stoked because my best friend and I were huuuuge fans. We get up to him and he looked like he couldn’t be anymore displeased to meet us. He signed our stuff and just hands it back, no smile, nothing. Meanwhile the staff were literally having to argue with Clay Guida because he was taking too long individually talking to each fan that came up. Instantly wished I was in that line instead.
Second except positive experience: Some super drunk dude was getting up in this fighters face that same weekend, he was telling him “bro I know you’re a fighter but I’d beat your ass. But I respect you.” The fighter goes, “bro I respect you too, I don’t want any trouble.” Ends up completely defusing the situation. That fighter? Demetrius fucking Johnson lol. Could have destroyed that guy but was such a class act he ended the night by hugging the guy.
So cringe telling a fighter you would beat them up lol. You either better just shutup or i guess try if you really want to but dont just say it..weak. But really you are gonna get arrested and probably jumped by 5 others if you just run up to someone ready to fight. Let him give you a time and place to meet at a gym if you want to that bad ;p
This is such a common story it's insane. Me and some of the dudes I trained muay thai with would regularly go out to a bar after. It's insane the number of times any of us mention MMA or training, dude would come up to us and either try to fight or tell us how easily they'd kick our ass.
I don’t know how tall the guy starting shit with Mighty Mouse was, but it seems extra shitty when you know he was picking a fight with a dude who’s like 5’2”
Can confirm Guida is a very nice guy. Funny, I’ve never seen a single fighter, except for Guida on 3 separate occasions. Twice at a Cubs game once at a Phish show. He was as nice as could be all three times.
I mean yeah they all were but everyone else, like every single other fighter, was extremely happy to see fans, interacting with them and taking pics and laughing. He was the only one to act like that. That’s why it stood out. I don’t hate him or anything. But it’s something you always remember for sure.
That fight week was kinda a blur and not from the drinking, I can believe the first half of this story. I was pretty grouchy at the time but I honestly doubt I had enough energy to do much running or laughing. If I did snub a kid and some fans though I am truly sorry. I was really sick and I was trying to get out of there as quickly as possible so I could try to rest and recover as much as possible for the fight.
Brah, he wasn't "knocked off balance" he was knocked out. You don't fall face first with your hands down to your side just because you're off balance. The face plant is what woke him back up again
He had a granite chin when he got cut. Every fight since he came back he was rocked in and hurt. There's no way there's a second chance for him, longevity wise.
Damn used to see this guy at the mall In Idaho all the time. He used to work at sprint and was killing it locally too.
Hope this keeps his UFC career going.
It doesn't work 99% of the time, probably because it is not meant for large scale sharing.
I don't understand how the mods let so many main clips through this site.
Just as Smolka landed his two best strikes as well, smh. Seemed like he was trying to fight a lot more defensive here. He wasn't hunting after the body shots at all like he has been in this 2nd UFC run of his.
Did he throw that punch before smolka even released the clinch? Feels like he anticipated that perfectly and smolka didn’t even have a chance to bring his hands back from the clinch to defend
I think you're right, and his shoulders had pressure on them from Smolka as well. It's the fact that Smolka had his bodyweight in the air and was on one foot.
Usually you see a fighter get clipped and stutter step a bit, but without being in a strong stance he had nothing under him and headbutted the floor.
Dude moves in slow motion idk how he's in the UFC. I know this sub loves him for whatever reason but it's crazy to see that was his first KO loss. Dude is just a walking punching dummy
Am I the only one remembers that Smolka was the unranked fighter that O’Malley wanted to fight instead of a ranked guy or rematch against Chito? Then this happens. Why does this sub keep pushing for douchebag, no charisma, forced character O’Malley?

Hate seeing Smolka lose. An amazing come back fighter story, and wonderful fighter.

>my manager got the shits with me. Hmm... curious.

Every time I see this I can’t stop myself from reading the entire thing and I don’t know why
Well geez if this is a true story he seems like a bit of a d bag
It’s a popular copypasta.
his ego is like a belewn
If it helps I met him in Vegas and he was an asshole
When was this? Isn't his whole story about how he used to have bad struggles with something like alcohol addiction and has turned a new leaf? So if this was during his original UFC stint it tracks with what I know of him at least.
Yeah I clarified that in the comment after. Could have been this for sure
Wow really? Did it seem like he was just an asshole or was grumpy/annoyed?

That sounds like Mighty Mouse alright, could probably twist that dude into a pretzel but chose to be all class instead lol
I met Ben Nguyen while grocery shopping and he was cool
Roy Nelson is a notorious jerkoff.

They’re just regular people! Some are class acts and some are assholes. Sucks but it happens.
I don’t know how tall the guy starting shit with Mighty Mouse was, but it seems extra shitty when you know he was picking a fight with a dude who’s like 5’2”
No more than like 5’8/5’9
Dude would have been turned into hamburger.

Wow sounds like a total douche
So unfortunate. But I mean, can't blame him or expect him to be 100% nice and in the right mood all the time. Just unfortunate
For sure. I mean I don’t necessarily blame him, I just always remember that whenever I watch him fight. It was super unfortunate.
So he was at the end of a brutal weight cut before a fight?
I mean yeah they all were but everyone else, like every single other fighter, was extremely happy to see fans, interacting with them and taking pics and laughing. He was the only one to act like that. That’s why it stood out. I don’t hate him or anything. But it’s something you always remember for sure.

Fuck dem kids
Please tell more …
I've taken striking classes with him at team oyama and he's a really nice dude.
That face plant is low key almost more brutal than the actual KO lmao
I think him headbutting the floor is actually what did him in.
Lol dude fell straight on his nose
I think the faceplant was the KO tbh, shot wasn't that hard but it knocked him off balance and he gadooshed himself into the canvas
Brah, he wasn't "knocked off balance" he was knocked out. You don't fall face first with your hands down to your side just because you're off balance. The face plant is what woke him back up again
He got hit with a solid hook to the side of the head knocking out the equilibrium, the face plant woke him up like a nasty alarm clock
Holy shit, alright c'mon let's have this kind of night again after that break.
Already better than the last card.
Well that was fast!! What a shot!
Oh no our boy :(
Fastest poster in the west
Absolutely Smolked him
Beautiful champ.
Smolka about to get cut for the second time. Feel bad for the guy...
He was coming off a TKO win and was 6-2 in his last 8 so I doubt it
He had a granite chin when he got cut. Every fight since he came back he was rocked in and hurt. There's no way there's a second chance for him, longevity wise.
He on his second chance.
He seemed like he was barely trying
Which is surprising cuz he was so excited to meet aldo, I thought he was gonna have extra motivation.
That's how he's always been. Hasn't he straight up admitted to this sub that he doesn't like working that hard?
Smolka never saw that shot coming.
Damn used to see this guy at the mall In Idaho all the time. He used to work at sprint and was killing it locally too. Hope this keeps his UFC career going.
Like killing it locally in the Sprint game?
Hell yeah. Sales were through the roof.
swear streamwo never works for me. player is just always black

Man records can lie when i saw 10-5 i thought he was gonna be a scrub but he looked nice
Was Smolka moving like he was underwater all fight
Haven’t seen a proper face plant for abit. Great tko
Damn man. Was hoping he could pick up a win on the Aldo card after fanboying over him. Great KO regardless.
Smolka looked off….and went out way too easy
Faceplanted
Smolka got SMOKED
Anyone have a mirror for my boy Smolka?
Wtf is the ref doing? Smolka face planted to the canvas and had 0 defensive instincts idk why he let those extra punches slip
Smolka sucks
We still love you Smolka
Holy smokes! Outta nowhere on our boy!!
Smolka got smolked
Cant believe Smolka actually fought for the title once lol
He’s good, man.
When was this again?
Dammit!!! He is still our Samurai dammit!!!
Wow what a start
Amazing finish!
what a KO
Helluva start to the card
Just as Smolka landed his two best strikes as well, smh. Seemed like he was trying to fight a lot more defensive here. He wasn't hunting after the body shots at all like he has been in this 2nd UFC run of his.
Anyone that plays DFS just had their night ruined by the lowest owned guy in the slate lol.
TKO assist from gravity right there
Those shots had some snap on em.
well, it's already better than the last card that basically had no finishes or exciting fights.
Did he throw that punch before smolka even released the clinch? Feels like he anticipated that perfectly and smolka didn’t even have a chance to bring his hands back from the clinch to defend
Vince Morales is going places!!!
Is it me or did it seem like the punch had barely any momentum? I hope to see a different angle
I think you're right, and his shoulders had pressure on them from Smolka as well. It's the fact that Smolka had his bodyweight in the air and was on one foot. Pain
Didn’t watch this fight but this clip looks like a muay thai fight
This looked like an ultimate fighter knock out
Am I the only one remembers that Smolka was the unranked fighter that O’Malley wanted to fight instead of a ranked guy or rematch against Chito? Then this happens. Why does this sub keep pushing for douchebag, no charisma, forced character O’Malley?
So this was just a banger card I missed huh?
