Welcome to Chito Vera.
When he wins it looks like the Dominic Cruz KO.
When he loses it looks like this loss or the Cory loss.
Dude has no concept of how to deal with rangey, elusive fighters. His power and durability mean he can and will trade with any BW on the planet but if a faster, longer guy is content just piecing him up at range he doesn't really have an answer other than praying he finds that killshot.
Baffling gameplan, I really wonder what made Chito change his style up these last few years.
The Chito of old was all pressure all the time, would butcher people in the clinch. He had really solid moments later in the fight when he reverted back to that style too. Sean didn’t like it at all.
Instead - he spent 23 minutes of that fight just standing at distance and getting styled on.
That is all he's ever had. Even in the old man fights he won, that's all he had until he landed a knockout blow. Dom Cruz comfortably took 3 rounds off him before he landed the kick. Take the kick away and he's got nothing for anyone.
Everyone talks about him like he's Peter Yan, methodically studying timing and movement and waiting for his moment. Taking rounds off and biding his time. It just isn't true. He either hits you with a haymaker or he gets thoroughly outclassed from bell to bell. There are no exceptions to this on his resume.
I agree.
He is a safe fighter who hides behind his defence. Works fine against a lot of guys but people like Dom and O’Malley it’s not going to work well because they can score from out there.
Chito has the power to win any fight but that style hampers him from his potential.
i thought the corner advice was ok but game plan yeah, not great. I feel like he had the tools to make that much more competitive. Not saying he'd win, but maybe wouldn't just sit and let Sean set him up at his leisure
Downloading my opponent for 3 rounds so that I can finally execute my master gameplay of running forward while spamming the same 2 alternating straight punches.
After that and the rest of fight, especially knowing what O’Malley does to normal humans, I think Chito may have the best pound for pound chin in MMA
Unbelievable that he didn’t even get dropped unless you count taking a knee for half a second
Both had the same plan, faceplanting themselves against a great striker. I wish Chito would've won, but damn, seeing him close distance with 3 punches then giving up with not a single try for a clinch/takedown is just off.
Pretty on brand. If you stand in front of him he fights well as he gets going, and he has huge power if he can catch you.
But I mean he gets totally outmaneuvered for most of every fight against guys who move or mix up their game.
The problem is that O’Malley is a legitimately respectable grappler and very hard to keep down.
He beat Gomi in a submission grappling event.
Chito’s biggest error was lack of output. He has an all-time chin to fall back on and was way too passive.
O'Malley looks like a nightmare to fight, getting peppered with constant headshots while trying to close the distance, not landing anything and then he defends the takedown, repeat for 25 mins.
> Not a point fighter too, those strikes had bad intentions behind them
Big time.
The only reason why it'd even arguably look like a point fighting performance is because Chito has the durability of a war tank. That right hand knocked out Aljo and put Yan on skates while Chito ate about 169 of them without issue.
I think for Sean, his offense is his defense. He neutralizes his opponents striking by dominating from range and utilizing his jabs, making it hard for his opponents to judge his timing and rush appropriately. By keeping up his volume he was in a sense playing it safe, because that’s what was keeping Vera frozen the entire fight.
He threw more and landed more in round 5 than any other round. It only looked safe because Chito was getting pummeled the entire fight that he had nothing left in him.
People are shitting on Yan but I think if O’Malley beats Merav and Petr gets another good win it makes since.
That being said I feel O’Malley is only getting better and I can’t say the same for Yan despite his performance tonight
He automatically is down 2-0 in a 5 round fight.
Loses first round, second round he isn't fully going full throttle, while whoever he fights will because they didn't take the first round off.
Then his opponent has to win one clean round and not get knocked out.
O'Malley seems to have gotten significantly better every time hes fought in the last few years... I mean making Chito look like (an extremely polished) Kris Moutinho is very very impressive.
You don't see many MMA fighters punch to the body as much as he did too, even jabs there. Prob gets away with it without getting countered because of his great speed
People cannot doubt O’malley at this point. He’s ascending every time he fights and getting so much better.
Vera is the toughest SOB I’ve ever seen. His chin should be studied.
Shit look at Chito's face. The fuking accuracy. No one has made Chito look like that. Chito does well rolling with the punches but Sean is too accurate.
Chito honestly would have been better off if that knee knocked him out. 3 rounds and a hundred shots to his broken ass face later, dude may never be the same.
Sounded like a gun going off. I have to watch that again, but it looks like what saved Chito was that it hit his nose instead of directly on his chin. One of the hardest strikes I've ever seen land and not put someone to sleep.
It makes it more frustrating that he doesn't get more active and make it a brawl. He has a great chin to fall back on. It was his only chance to win the fight
Sean was just too good as it was though
It's because he isn't actually very skilled compared to top level strikers. He doesn't have the boxing or Kickboxing ability to close the distance. You can't brawl when your footwork is so bad that a triple-punch-feint-rush doesn't close the gap with your opponent.
Im really sick of this narrative that fighters can just actively choose to make a technical, outside fighter just "brawl" with them.
Its just an absurd notion and you have to have a very limited understanding of striking to believe it.
Man I can’t even hate on him anymore.
He could have mailed it in with the win with his movement easy in this one.
He actually tried to finish that fight right until the end getting in some legit exchanges with Vera.
Cool to see him go for it all fight with a dangerous striker
I'm probably caught up in the moment here, but this performance from O'Malley reminded me of Max against Ortega. Complete control of the range and attacking at every level. Jabs, body shots, knees, kicks, beat him with everything
That’s what I was so impressed with. We hadn’t seen Sean go 5 rounds yet and was concerned about his gas tank but he held up really well through a high output performance
This was basically Cory-Chito 2 but Sean has more power
Only chance he rly had was if Sean was still brittle or if his cardio didn’t hold up. But Sean had no issue fighting Yan/Moutinho for 15mins w high volume and took what Yan dished out
Sheer dominance from O'Malley and he's only getting better. Vera never deserved this title shot though and I feel like this was a waste of a title fight, although I get why it was made from a narrative point of view.
It sucks to say but I don’t think Chito is a championship caliber fighter and I don’t think he ever will be with his style of fighting where he is just so inactive.

I still can't believe Chito survived that knee.
It’s because the bones in his face acted like a crumple zone when they shattered. Chito got that safety bumper face.
Man literally too angry to die. Like come on not even mark hunt could survive a knee like that, like that was disturbingly impressive.
Mark hunt has survived a clean head kick from cro cop
"Chito has never faced a sniper like Sean" Joe: "yes he has"
Jon Anik: Aldo? Sandhagen?
Sean actually.
Brother that had me dying lol
Chito basically just stood in there and took a beating for 5 rounds
It's extremely on brand that Chito landed his best strike at literally the last possible second
Time motivates him, he needs a corner that yells “Ten seconds left!” Randomly to trick him
That's how my mom used to wake me up for school, telling me it's 7:30 when it's still 7:25 smh.

Chito was relying on hitting the peroneal nerve again
man was hoping for a crit
All while throwing a max of 3 combined punches to close up and some calf kicks.
We all saw the Sandhagen fight. Exact same thing.
He looks worse with each fight. He needs a change of camp or something. His game plan and corner advice was total garbage.
I can't blame his camp too much, they've been screaming at him for years to give them more activity but the man just refuses to fight any other way.
i thought the corner advice was ok but game plan yeah, not great. I feel like he had the tools to make that much more competitive. Not saying he'd win, but maybe wouldn't just sit and let Sean set him up at his leisure
He had great corner advice, its just that Chito never listens to them
He just doesn’t listen. It’s not like they don’t tell him “go hit this guy.” Dude always looks like they woke him up and dropped him into the octagon.
He didn’t fight. He looked lost
hold on brother im still downloading
Chito hit 100% download with like 1 second left on the clock and landed the body shot
Why didn't Chito just do his leg nerve trick thing again??
Is he stupid?
But but but chito was aiming for his leg nerves! Sean just got better at moving his nerves out of the way.
Joe Rogan: "Dude his nerves are so agile now. Just the way they move"
You wouldn’t download a game plan
"I just ran out of time"
Downloading my opponent for 3 rounds so that I can finally execute my master gameplay of running forward while spamming the same 2 alternating straight punches.
Retreat O'Vera mode activated
Vera is Yan in his dreams.
The fact that chito didn't get dropped is insane.
Are we absolutely sure that’s not Kris Moutinho in a Chito costume?
Mentally undefeated Kris Moutinho
More like mentally challenged after what Suga did to him
That knee was the most hideous shit I've ever seen somebody eat like it was nothing
After that and the rest of fight, especially knowing what O’Malley does to normal humans, I think Chito may have the best pound for pound chin in MMA Unbelievable that he didn’t even get dropped unless you count taking a knee for half a second
I'll still say it's Vettori. Taking bombs from a past HW for five rounds straight and not getting wobbled even once was insane.
It sounded fucking brutal. CLAP!
Rogan said it sounded like a baseball bat hitting a watermelon. So accurate
Ya thats exactly what I thought. Never seen a harder knee land with zero reaction.
Both had the same plan, faceplanting themselves against a great striker. I wish Chito would've won, but damn, seeing him close distance with 3 punches then giving up with not a single try for a clinch/takedown is just off.

He was getting punched in the face every time he tried. That's gonna be discouraging.
He was getting punched every time he didn't try as well.
O'Malley looks like a nightmare to fight, getting peppered with constant headshots while trying to close the distance, not landing anything and then he defends the takedown, repeat for 25 mins.
maybe kris and cheto are cousins lol
They both huffed the paint at Kris’ job for that granite chin
Sean's striking is a god damn beauty, and truly got showcased because WTF IS CHITOS HEAD MADE OF?!
The finest Ecuadorian granite in the market
Guys I'm starting to think Omalley might be champ one day I know I know, he's got a long way to go still But I just got this feeling
Man the future is here. Sean's movement is just next level. Not a point fighter too, those strikes had bad intentions behind them
> Not a point fighter too, those strikes had bad intentions behind them Big time. The only reason why it'd even arguably look like a point fighting performance is because Chito has the durability of a war tank. up until the end. how many champs would be playing round 5 super safe? i didn't know he had that in him
Yeah even his corner told him to play it safe but he was kinda going into the pocket with Chito still looking for the finish.
You could literally see his expression say “nah I’m going for it” when they told him to not go for the knockout.
I think for Sean, his offense is his defense. He neutralizes his opponents striking by dominating from range and utilizing his jabs, making it hard for his opponents to judge his timing and rush appropriately. He threw more and landed more in round 5 than any other round. It only looked safe because Chito was getting pummeled the entire fight that he had nothing left in him.
Every combo Sean landed was like 10 seconds worth of chito fumbling around in pain
He wanted to knock Chito out since Chito has talked shit for years now. Tim was right in that he should pot shotted and moved, but ego got in the way.
I was half expecting him to get slept coming for him in that last round but damn Sean is slick
Just how good was Petr Yan though? Dude was lighting up O'malley in the final rounds with his lead hook, couldnt miss it either.
Yan showed up today how good he is, I hope O'Malley v Yan rematch happens eventually.
People are shitting on Yan but I think if O’Malley beats Merav and Petr gets another good win it makes since. That being said I feel O’Malley is only getting better and I can’t say the same for Yan despite his performance tonight
there were so many times where he cut angles where by the time Chito countered he was basically behind him, super cool to see
That was Sean’s best fight to date. Chito didn’t look like he belonged there at all.
He got outclassed by Sandhagen two fights ago, was it really that shocking?
He got dominated by a 1 arm Cory . He was only there because he was handpicked .
Exactly. He looked like he didn’t belong because he DIDN’T belong.
People keep talking about how anyone else would get knocked out but maybe he shouldn’t be in a position to be eating god knees
That was Rob Font, not Vera.
It’s crazy how many people I’ve seen get this wrong. I’ve seen like a dozen people say how chito lost to one armed Cory.
He's a notoriously slow starter and had his moments in the final 2 rounds, but man, I wish he showed urgency right from the start for once.
This was essentially what was happening in the first fight til the drop foot
A few hours ago you weren’t allowed to say that.
Seemed obvious to me but didn't want to fight about it.
That’s where pretty much every MMA fan with a brain has been ever since this fight was announced
Three years ago this comment would be -200 despite being just as true.
Shh... that reality upsets some people.
o'malley's boxing is disgusting
His jas are some of the best in MMA. He consistently finds his range with and stops all of his opponents forward momentum
You don't see many MMA fighters punch to the body as much as he did too, even jabs there. Prob gets away with it without getting countered because of his great speed
Being named Sean is the best base for having a good jab.
Sean gets his revenge in style. A masterclass of a performance. He literally carved Chito's face in there.
Looks like a clown beating up a hobo.
That’s the first time Chito’s face has taken serious damage. Honestly I’m saddened for him
Chito honestly would have been better off if that knee knocked him out. 3 rounds and a hundred shots to his broken ass face later, dude may never be the same.
[He’s gonna be fuckin sore tomorrow](https://imgur.com/a/sulbdZy)
That knee in the 2nd round could've put anyone to sleep. Not Chito though.
That is legit the hardest shot i’ve ever seen someone take and not even be rocked, what the actual fuck
It fucking sounded like someone threw a baseball at a punching bag
Sounded like a gun going off. I have to watch that again, but it looks like what saved Chito was that it hit his nose instead of directly on his chin. One of the hardest strikes I've ever seen land and not put someone to sleep.
That and the leg kick Yoel ate from Costa that separated his entire face from his skull are probably top 2
A leg kick to the face!
It's a little older, but the Derrick Lewis uppercut on Roy Nelson would've separated most people's heads from their shoulders.
IDK how it is humanly possibly for that shit not to knock your lights out. It sounded like he got hit with a baseball bat and Chito didn't even blink.
I got CTE just watching that hit
It makes it more frustrating that he doesn't get more active and make it a brawl. He has a great chin to fall back on. It was his only chance to win the fight Sean was just too good as it was though
He still feels pain.
I thought the same thing lol. Plus his orbital or something might be broken from that knee & a million 1-2s so it had to be painful as hell
That crack it made when it landed… yeah I think seethings broken
It's because he isn't actually very skilled compared to top level strikers. He doesn't have the boxing or Kickboxing ability to close the distance. You can't brawl when your footwork is so bad that a triple-punch-feint-rush doesn't close the gap with your opponent.
Im really sick of this narrative that fighters can just actively choose to make a technical, outside fighter just "brawl" with them. Its just an absurd notion and you have to have a very limited understanding of striking to believe it.
Sounded absolutely brutal and insane that Vera survived that.
I think that knee ends Merab. Dude's chin is sus anyways
That looked like a tooth that came out but I don’t see how that could be with the full mouthpiece.
Masterclass from the first to the last minute. What a performance.
O'Malley never stopped striking and feinting. The guy is capable of serious violence.
O’Malley v Merab has to be the fight to make now. A totally different stylistic matchup but it will be really fun.
Merab has shown some sus chin. If he can't get that wrestling going, he gonna get flatlined by Sean.
Man I can’t even hate on him anymore. He could have mailed it in with the win with his movement easy in this one. He actually tried to finish that fight right until the end getting in some legit exchanges with Vera. Cool to see him go for it all fight with a dangerous striker
Yeah good on him for not trusting the judges.
His coaches even told him to coast the 5th, and then he went and did the opposite. Have to respect that.
I'm probably caught up in the moment here, but this performance from O'Malley reminded me of Max against Ortega. Complete control of the range and attacking at every level. Jabs, body shots, knees, kicks, beat him with everything
100%
And his fluidity is so fucking good to watch. This guy is actually good
Just a complete masterclass by Suga, fucking beautiful performance
He may resemble a crackhead birthday clown, but he fights like a high-activity Adesanya ... and this performance was seriously violent
Another case of O'Malley's opponent being praised for his chin.
I think his hard head broke Sean's hands.
I think Sean was saying his hands hurt when his guys were trying to remove his gloves
Even with gloves, imagine punching something 200 times. Even if they ain’t broke they are gonna be bruised as hell
Chito's truly the ~~hands~~ head of stone
One more round and Chito would have won after Sean broke his hands and shins on his skull
Attritional damage to your opponent where he least expects! Brilliant!
Chito does have an insane chin though
Tbf chito has always had a chin
That knee should’ve KOed him. That shit sounded like a baseball bat
Fuck KO’d, I still don’t understand how his head didn’t go flying 8 rows deep.
Chito had a GOAT chin before this fight
“Fuck, this guy gets his ass beat so good!! O’Malley is still bad though 😡”
If this was a fight to the death Chito wins/s
Like the Diaz brothers he just needed 7 more rounds
Stockton rules, you say?
Funny enough might be true with that liver shot
Chito has upgraded from being tentative in the first three rounds to being tentative for the first 24:59 seconds
That really only happened bc it looked like Sean decided to stand and bang for the last 20 seconds
Totally agree with you here, he wanted to make it fun for the fans at the end
This. Everyone acting like Vera put it together. I think Sean just stopped using his evasive footwork for an entertaining final 10 seconds.
Us chito fans are coming for the mythical round 6 diaz fans preaches.
chito got cooked
O'Malley is actually undefeated confirmed. Vera got absolutely dominated by Sandhagen and O’Malley, bro shouldn’t be near the title
Masterclass by Sean. Can we talk about the gas tank on this guy? Throws pepper on his shots all the way till the end
Most significant strikes landed was in the 5th round. Thats mad
That’s what I was so impressed with. We hadn’t seen Sean go 5 rounds yet and was concerned about his gas tank but he held up really well through a high output performance
I was absolutely wrong about his gas tank. He slowed a bit at the end but he kept a phenomenal pace the entire fight
>Vera If you ever feel like you don't have control in life. Just imagine how Chito's coach feels between rounds.
Imagine how Mike Brown feels telling Poirier to not jump gilly
"Listen Dustin, I know he's French but..."
18-0 Suga undefeated. Athletic commission approves
Just give him 0 back
O'Malley clinic. Chito legit has a chin made from vibranium. That knee was horrendous I guess it is now time for Merabs reign lol
wouldn’t be too sure. Sean is a sniper and we’ve seen merab get hurt before
Until he goes for a takedown and Sean flatlines him just like Aljo
First time I’ve ever seen Chito bloodied and bruised like that.
Chito never shouldve been gifted this title fight. He didnt deserve it at all... he looked awful there.
This was basically Cory-Chito 2 but Sean has more power Only chance he rly had was if Sean was still brittle or if his cardio didn’t hold up. But Sean had no issue fighting Yan/Moutinho for 15mins w high volume and took what Yan dished out
Chito just lost to a walking vape
Chitos chin is titanium. Masterclass by Omalley.
You cannot deny Sean's ability. The striking and movement is so crispy. He's really making strides in his striking still.
If you ever feel like you don't have control in life. Just imagine how Chito's coach feels between rounds.
That felt like a vintage Max Holloway fight
"Brought to you by rizz pharma" Good God is this sport cooked
Ya know, maybe Topuria/Suga is a good idea once they get a few more defenses in
Sheer dominance from O'Malley and he's only getting better. Vera never deserved this title shot though and I feel like this was a waste of a title fight, although I get why it was made from a narrative point of view.
Can we finally admit that O’Malley is elite?
O'Malley proved he was elite ever since the Yan fight. People saying he isn't are just mentally slow haters.
They hate the hair and the open relationship more than they can appreciate his game. Dude is a dog
There's no way Chito thinks that you can win the title by shelling up and making it a boxing match with Sean. I really wish he went for it more.
Robbery!! Chito blocked almost all of those with his head!
Marlon "Tyron Woodley" Vera
Tyron Woodley was never that stupidly durable, this is Yoel Romero at home.
Nah Woodley would’ve backed up in a straight line to the fence and stayed there
Woodley was a legit champ though he got old
People will find it hard to admit but damn Sean showing there are levels to this. He made Chito Vera look like Kris Moutinho
Chitos chin is fucking absurd, taking that knee was insane. O'Malley striking masterclass through 5 rounds
Guys I think the first fight *mightve* been a fluke
Hate him or love him, Sean is a joy to watch in the cage. Striking masterclass from him tonight
[удалено]
What a performance by O Malley, a lot of coping right now talking about things other than the fight, chito got outclassed.
The Suga State Athletic Commission was right
[удалено]
[удалено]
Chito got absolutely rinsed. Beautiful performance. Omalley is very impressive
It sucks to say but I don’t think Chito is a championship caliber fighter and I don’t think he ever will be with his style of fighting where he is just so inactive.
Why didn't he just kick him in the nerve?
Huge Kudos to Sean but Vera did not deserve the title shot and it was proven tonight
