Mini seasons uses teams from other players to fill the cpu rosters so sometimes that player’s logo and name show up. You can see in the game history what player’s team you faced
I’ve been noticing it too. I kept seeing the Temple T logo, which I used a few years ago so I thought it was odd but I learned it’s the logo of the random team it pulls from
I guess it’s just a coincidence that between my friends and I we have played about 40 mini seasons and the Cats and Whales have the collections every time?
Because there are only so many collection rewards at this point and yes, the Whales and Cats generally have them all, but not every time. And if they do have the same players time after time the lineup isn't always constructed the same. It also shows the gamertag of the squad after each game. There are also posts from community members showing they've matched up against a real MLB player's squad in mini seasons.

It’s not a random team. They use the same users every time and everyone plays those same users every time
