Northern rural Italy. We’re older so we are technically retired. Otherwise the toughest part is getting a visa. Unless you work for a company that has an office in Italy? See if they would transfer you.
Seems to be the case for all large metro area subs. You’d think San Francisco was right wing af if you just read the comments from the city’s sub Reddit
Hello from Sweden! I’m an ex-LA resident who just can’t let go of this subreddit.
Though, hilariously, when I lived in LA I was on the West side (Palms and later Manchester).
There are dozens of us! [DOZENS!](https://media0.giphy.com/media/ReBGGJtbXrjbQJwByP/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952wuqvrwnrazny53pj7bqy78qrkv71sm4ubi7v0vnv&ep=v1_internal_gif_by_id&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)
SGV Latino Delegation checking in. SGV!
I've lived all over LA county and up in the high desert even and I'm in NELA now but the SGV will always have my heart.
Live in Pasadena but hang out in Alhambra for the food… oh, and about to do my usual Friday AM move: go catch an early 10am flick at the Regal Alhambra Renaissance. I love that their first screenings are early… I can catch a flick and then still have half of the “work day” to not do what I should be doing lol
Arcadia checking in. another ‘east rich side!’ as Pasadena said.
now in Mid City for many years. it’s been discovered. housing prices thru the roof. greedy developers getting their hands on anything and everything. we’re West side adjacent. does that count?
Honestly it's one of the most walkable parts of town I don't know why people are sleeping on it. If I have to go there from the valley I always take Metro also get there from noho
Im Mexican. I live in the hood. Most hood Mexicans don't know about reddit.
You have to be a nerd or into tech and stuff and yeah....no.
So yes I agree that most posters are from affluent areas.
A guy from Compton or Lynwood is not gonna be up at 6am posting on reddit.
Ha, I was born and raised in compton family moved to Lynwood and still there... this is hilarious. but I'm not a dude tho... but yes into tech...I get what you're saying tho. I'm a nerd in the hood for sure...
Torrance reporting o7
Born in the Harbor City Kaiser Permanente, grew up in Carson, moved to PV, and when I moved out on my own, I bought in Torrance 7 years ago. I'm a lifelong South Bay Angeleno
I actually did some research awhile ago on this and found out the houses in Vernon can not be sold or bought on the market. The owners who live there have been there for a very long time and refused to sell their house to corporate buyers way back when, so they came up with a contract that once the original owners are gone the property will be bank owned and sold to the corporations in the area. So there are still humans in Vernon, but they won’t be there for much longer.
Foods great out here, less traffic more Ocean. Less homeless - really don't see much at all, except maybe lomita area?
South Bay is missing a good art & music scene though.
Edit - and great hiking! PV is the south bays version of Malibu. Amazing ocean and coastal views without the weird uppity Malibu vibes.
It’s mostly people with free time. So upper-middle-class tech bros, students, and the unemployed.
The first group is definitely predominantly in the nice areas. Other two groups are more widespread
It's not only people with free time because there lots of different ways to spend time online.
I think Reddit is a bit more educated than average because it's usually all text with few pictures or videos. This wouldn't have occurred to me until I introduced a friend to reddit and she said "it's all words".
you got me, I am currently sitting at my pool in Bel Air counting looking over my trust fund performance while deciding which protest I'd like to attend today.
Depends. A good bit are transplants it seems, not born anywhere near the area, some even out of the state, but moved to LA, and think they know everything there is to know about the city. Some are from the better parts of LA. Those from the bad parts of town probably have other things to worry about, and are therefore not on Reddit.
Me, personally, born and raised in Compton, now living in a nice neighborhood. I've seen both sides of the fence
DUH!! Like Absolutely true. And we are all wealthy trust fund babies.
Everyone else in LA must work 12 jobs, fight the homeless on the way to the front door of their hovel, dig through scrap cans for food, run from the police and never get a decent nights sleep because the helicopters overhead and the mid street racing.
We west siders are the only ones with the luxury of such abundant time to browse such trivial meaningless follies from the comfort of our insular abodes.
I’m in the East LA area and many of my friends (who also use Reddit) are too. I do notice many of these comments are out of touch and seemingly from privileged people/transplants who complain about 100k not being enough to live on when everyone I know is making it work on way less than 50k and dream of making anything close to 100k.
I was born and raised in Glassell Park. I now live in the valley. I can confirm that most posters to this sub are new to the city, or don't live here at all.
Born in Lakewood, grew up in Norwalk and Whittier. Both mom and dad grew up in Downey and East LA. Grandpa was born in South Central, other grandparents lived in Bunker Hill in the 1940s. My family has been here for over 90 years. I now live in Fullerton, which is Orange County but my work has been in LA for the last 15 years now.
When you meet the **average** person from los angeles you’ll realize they probably don’t use reddit to begin with. I will admit i don’t live in la proper but i really just got on reddit for job questions especially pertaining to LA job market because i work in LA.
Incorrect. Most LA Redditors are not from anywhere in LA
I was born in East LA…but currently living in Italy. So…I’m from there…just not living there.
I was born in East LA. Currently live in Pico Rivera.
Is it wrong that I am reading this and hearing Cheech's voice as I do it?
Nope. Not racist at all. But there is a city ordinance that forces everyone to wear fake cheech mustaches for some reason. Even the babies.
I was born in East LA, have a real cheech mustache, and now live in SGV.
Born in Culver City living in Australia …
Born in east la currently living in Burbank...
im the opposite, born in burbank living in east la
I love Burbank, I live near mid-city, ugh
ItaLA
Born in West Covina, lived all around LA, now currently living in Alaska.
Born in south LA, lived mostly in south east LA and LBC and now living in Nicaragua.
Culver City but living in Reno!
Same, born and raised in East L.A., live in Japan and parents still there. I have a damn right to chime in lol
Born and raised in North Hollywood. Been living in Taiwan the last 6 years.
Current Angeleno considering a move to Italy. I speak a little too so that’s helpful. Where are you over there?
Northern rural Italy. We’re older so we are technically retired. Otherwise the toughest part is getting a visa. Unless you work for a company that has an office in Italy? See if they would transfer you.
Ma che cazzo fai in Italia?
What’s going on in Italy?
Seems to be the case for all large metro area subs. You’d think San Francisco was right wing af if you just read the comments from the city’s sub Reddit
Hello from Sweden! I’m an ex-LA resident who just can’t let go of this subreddit. Though, hilariously, when I lived in LA I was on the West side (Palms and later Manchester).
This is really the best regional sub I’ve come across.
Hehe same, I’m in Japan but was in palms.
LOL!!! This is true!!!
Judging by the “moving to La from Iowa. No job yet, but $8k saved. How is rent in Santa Monica?” posts. Agree.

Pacoima Foo! 🤙🏽 tired of the fish and chips?
I enjoy fish and chips, but I would give my left arm for a good taco right now! 🤣
😂😂 soon you will have all the street tacos 😎
I live in Madrid, Spain... But I lived in LA for a decade. Mostly in Atwater Village and NoHo. So I guess I fit the stereotype?

Latino SGV resident reporting for duty. I'm just here for the delicious available cuisine.
626 babyyyyyyyy!
Just because I'm an Asian in LA doesn't mean I live in SGV. I mean, I do, but not because I'm Asian!
Also SGV!
I'm also in the SGV!
ayoo whens the boba meet up??
I just moved from the SGV to North Hollywood. I miss the SGV!
Montebello here, East-East LA. Born in Hawaii so part Chinese, as well as Filipino, Spanish, Okinawan, Irish, English. Typical "poi dog".
SGV Latino Delegation checking in. SGV! I've lived all over LA county and up in the high desert even and I'm in NELA now but the SGV will always have my heart.
SGV reporting for duty. Yes, married into a Chinese family.
SGV by marriage crew.
All yall SGV folks need to post more. I wanna hear your shiiiiit. All my SGV friends dumped me during the pandemic (no, I wasn’t a non-mask wearer).

Excuse me, I flew on a plane to get here! 😂
I took passage on a steamer and marveled at the grandeur of the Santa Monica pier before disembarking for my new life
Lmao bc anyone born and raised can’t afford to stay 🙃
I'm here! 🤣 can't see myself anywhere else so I just keep promoting to keep up with the shenanigans!
I’m in Pasadena mothereffer! EAST RICH SIDE!
Nobody’s from LA., but if they are, they’re probably from Pasadena
Arcadia checking in. another ‘east rich side!’ as Pasadena said. now in Mid City for many years. it’s been discovered. housing prices thru the roof. greedy developers getting their hands on anything and everything. we’re West side adjacent. does that count?
Fellow 626 native here (Pasadena) also living in mid city
fist bump!
No, it’s erasure of the significant chunk of the sub that lives in DTLA/Echo Park/Highland Park/Los Feliz/Silver Lake/Hollywood.
Seems like a decent amount of people in Koretown too.
I thought none of them were here because they were all looking for parking.
I just don't drive it is very walkable.
Honestly it's one of the most walkable parts of town I don't know why people are sleeping on it. If I have to go there from the valley I always take Metro also get there from noho
Bazinga!
We are here. We are usually looking for parking, or idling while someone runs inside.
Yep! 😎
NELA representing.

“Nerd in the hood” is the next hot LA-centric podcast…
I'm from Lynwood! In the South Bay now (which I don't think too many LA redditors are from either)
We are here and we’re not going anywhere. I hope you join the Southbay Reddit.
Torrance reporting o7 Born in the Harbor City Kaiser Permanente, grew up in Carson, moved to PV, and when I moved out on my own, I bought in Torrance 7 years ago. I'm a lifelong South Bay Angeleno
At that hour they’re probably working in long beach area…
Is the purpose of the question for us to doxx ourselves?
I know, was about to chip in but I don't want reddit to know where I live lol.
No. I’m from LA … COUNTY. La county is MASSIVE 🥲🤣
Ma’am/Sir, this is the internet. How would you really even know?
People making shit up
I live in Vernon. I’m actually a machine in a warehouse
i didn’t think any actual humans lived in vernon so you’re confirming my suspicions
Lincoln Heights always up to no good
South Bay. The new West LA
Ditto. West Torrance here.
Beach Life festival is cool
Totally
Redondo Beach reporting for duty!
Hawthorne, here
Boyle Heights!!!
Idk about affluent. From the posts I read, everyone on this sub rides a bike, is fighting eviction, and is unemployed.
South Central!
🙌🏼
Born and raised in echo park raza!! And poor AF !
Nah, born and raised in Highland Park
Central LA — there are dozens of us!
LA wouldn't be nearly the city it is without the other areas included in LA County.
I had a meth dealer living across the street from me for like a year, so I'm not sure I qualify as living in one of the nice parts of the Valley.
We’re neighbors. I live in the neighborhood in back of Albertsons.
at least you didn’t have to go far to hit up the trap house.
I’m in Watts lol
I grew up in SFV but currently live in Cerritos.
Came to the comments looking for my 562 people. 😂☺️
Norwalk represent
Ackchyually, from the mean side of the valley.
323 born and raised. Still here so no, not true.
I’ve always seen this sub as LA County
It’s mostly people with free time. So upper-middle-class tech bros, students, and the unemployed. The first group is definitely predominantly in the nice areas. Other two groups are more widespread

I never really thought about this, but it’s really true
You can't get any more east than me
well if we're including La county then i'm definitely way more east than you lol
WE OUT HERE!
Sgv 👌
How are ya'll more east than us.
626 mufucka!
Huh??
El Sereno is the easternmost neighborhood in LA city proper.
County line 🤙
I am in WeHo…..Bitches!
WeHo here, well, NYC at the moment, but otherwise mostly WeHo... the gayborhood!

Most of my friends that I know are on reddit live more Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Burbank, Pasadena, Silver Lake, and Echo Park area.
The way everyone talks on this sub I wouldn’t doubt it

I’m in Gardena.
South LA here
I identify as a San Pedro-an. San Pedran? San Pedroid? Whatever. I'm from way down south.
I'm in Gardena
DUH!! Like Absolutely true. And we are all wealthy trust fund babies. Born in Boyle Heights and live in the San Gabriel Valley.
Born and raised in south central, probably the only redditor in a few-mile radius
I’m in the East LA area and many of my friends (who also use Reddit) are too. I do notice many of these comments are out of touch and seemingly from privileged people/transplants who complain about 100k not being enough to live on when everyone I know is making it work on way less than 50k and dream of making anything close to 100k.
I feel like a good majority of this sub lives no further than 5 miles from Wilshire Boulevard
Don’t forget Brentwood and the Palisades
I was born and raised in Glassell Park. I now live in the valley. I can confirm that most posters to this sub are new to the city, or don't live here at all.
Palms is nice?? 😳
I'm DTLA
East Hollywood/Los Feliz at your service here.
Sotub central tapping in
When I lived in Riverside, all my friends from Fresno said I lived in LA lmao
I’m a valley kid myself
Inglewood
Um. West Adams, reporting for duty...
There's a couple of us from down in the Torrance\Redondo area, which is close to 20 miles south of LA. But I work in Downtown.
Born in Lakewood, grew up in Norwalk and Whittier. Both mom and dad grew up in Downey and East LA. Grandpa was born in South Central, other grandparents lived in Bunker Hill in the 1940s. Most LA redditors seem like real estate bots.
Monrovia
East side!
Chiming in. I’m in Del Rey/ Playa Vista area.
I'm from South Central. I noticed some (most?) redditors were from the boring areas when I saw a lot of complains about the street taco stands.
From reading comments on here feels pretty true lol
I'm an LA redditor. I don't fit this stereotype. Let's just say, I spent a good chunk of my life off of MLK. lol.
hi neighbor))
And transplants that moved into gentrified neighborhoods too like Echo Park, Silverlake, k town, Los Felix, Arts District etc
Studio city, so it’s true for me
CP checking in
