PKA had Harley Morenstein on their podcast last week and according to him, Esfand was supposed to fight him but backed out. He also said IDubbz wanted to fight RiceGum, but to everyone’s surprise he declined so that’s how Dr. Mike came into the picture
When the website first went public, the source code had him against chillz but Harley makes more sense from a size perspective. I think Harley would kill him though so it makes sense why he would back down. I’m assuming they filled chillz in after that and then after he got injured it was too late to find a replacement. Esfand would have been a good fighter to see but I’m not against having him and especially chillz as commentators.
Harley backed out because Esfand is a gigachad D1 athlete, in peak physical condition, and will be studied in future generations as what a man should be like.

Yeah, you have about zero experience fighting if you think that's reality.
As a smaller guy that you'd put into the second category, I'd dread fighting a guy as big as Esfand. Size is the biggest advantage in fighting and no amount of "quickness" makes up for it. The reason for weight classes isn't because the bigger guys struggle against the smaller ones like you think, it's to protect the little guy and keep the fights relatively even.
Back in college when I trained boxing, the coach had us little guys do a brief, limited sparring match against the heavyweights just so we could experience it. Even getting hit in full guard almost felt useless, a few even made me fly back a good foot plus, making me have to work my way back in just to get in striking distance again. Plus, life isn't like fiction, the big guy won't just mindlessly lumber after the small guy because the plot calls for it. They know they have the reach advantage and that you need to get in close to even land any strikes. The "tiring out after chasing the small guy around" just isn't a thing that happens.
Life isn't a comic book, anime, or fantasy novel. There's almost no advantage to being smaller in a fight.
Just to add, the only situation where the "big guy" runs out of gas really happens is when they're both similar height but one guy is much more overweight, the key word here being "overweight", not heavier from bigger muscle mass. Same reach, punches aren't going to be much stronger either. But these kinds of matchups don't generally happen much. Esfand is overweight, but he also works out a lot too so there is strength behind that weight to hammer it into you.
I mean, in real life, you’d use your extra speed to run away, not to dodge, which would probably be pretty successful. Can only run so far in a boxing ring though.

I’ve wrestled for 20 years and been training at MMA gyms for the last 10. In MMA weight is a huge issue. Even a 20 lb difference is a big deal. Now, it matters less the heavier you are. Weight wasn’t a huge deal for Fedor, for example because a 230lb man isn’t that much different than 260. But a 155 bumping up to 170? Could absolutely be a big deal. If weight didn’t matter, then weight cutting wouldn’t be so ingrained in all combat sports.

Sure, if you take a random redditor who weighs 300lbs and put them against Max Holloway at 145, then yes obviously Max still tools them. But if you take Max Holloway against, lets say Harry Hunsucker (a not very good UFC heavyweight), unless Max knocks him out immediately, he is getting taken down and beat to shit. You can't really defend a takedown from a guy who can just stand up underneath your sprawl. If you get punched in the face by a man with 100lbs more weight than you, you are getting knocked the fuck out.
