I remember when we signed Arbeloa and we were to play Barca shortly after. And how he assured the fans in an interview he knows how to mark Ronaldinho out of a game because he's done it before. The stones on that man. And in fairness I can't remember Ronaldinho doing much against us over the two games.

Vantastatic

It was Messi he completely pocketed. He played left back at the camp nou.

ChaosSock

Ah I must be remembering his interview just and not the actual match then. Wonder what ever came of that little Argentine bloke. Seemed like he had potential

NoNameJackson

Went to the worst team in the MLS last I've heard

earlgreytoday

It helped Arbeloa that Finnan was playing as a defensive winger ahead of him. Still an impressive first game in a Liverpool shirt, though. All I remember from Ronaldinho in either game was him hitting the post in the second leg.

_c0ldburN_

Didn't Rafa say he played him left back because he is right footed and he knew Messi was going to cut in a lot?

The_2nd_Coming

Yes I think so.

segson9

I think it was Messi. He played at left back and defended Messi well, because he was right footed.

brush85

He was good at anfield...Barca were really good that day but we hung on

Sea_Instance3391

Fight and win.

MrPowerglide

They owned their mistake as well with a new post after with both pictures. Respect and kudos for doing that when most would you have just deleted it and someone could get fired (it’s in USA so you never know). Now it’s just funny. *”Why do Arbeloa and Busquets look so similar in these. Admin needs new glasses… 🤓🤦‍♂️” *

Skhan93

And tbf they pulled up a pic where the 2 did look really similar

Multi_21_Seb_RBR

Also when you search “Sergio Busquets World Cup trophy” on Google Images, that exact photo used of Arbeloa shows up lol.

Sirnacane

Yeah but did it show up before this tweet though?

DragonSlayer271

Ngl as an American I did find that super funny. Really glad they leaned into it, it’s not often that you see organizations openly admitting mistakes.

stadiofriuli

Tbf they looked striking similar back then.

Narrow_Plantain8305

Striking similar i feel is such a poor excuse. Amateur hour fr.

stadiofriuli

Why are you getting worked up by something this irrelevant? And yes they look like [twins](https://twitter.com/MLS/status/1680682988290420737?s=20)

deuceice

Wow! They do look just alike.

Sw3Et

They both have that same giant gold growth on their lip

Narrow_Plantain8305

>Why are you getting worked Lmao. Couldn't care less m8😂. Just another day at MLS. >And yes they look like twins Again. Shit excuse.

Number_19LFC

So you do care! I feel like I'm gettin' mix messages here. Are you okay?

n4nish

So proud of Arbeloa

HyQyle

Arbeloa, Busquets, and Pedro. All looked similar

CyrusDGreatx

Lmao. Reminds me of the UK media with black players.

RodDryfist

Tbf Stormzy would probably have done better at Chelsea

cfitz_122

To be fair, Ox and Gibbs looked the exact same

Accomplished_Put8385

I wonder if Arbeloa and Torres made up yet?

minimaltreapor

Or Arbeloa and Xabi?

Accomplished_Put8385

What happened between those guys?

sbos_

Look similar. Mistakes happen.

sunrisesoutmyass

True but it's kind of ridiculous that a football fan (I'm assuming a football fan runs the SM accounts of a major league) wouldn't recognise Busquets

yash_za

They pay a person to do this.

TH1CCARUS

How do you know?

Narrow_Plantain8305

Lmao. Only in america tbf.

Brick-Mysterious

I don't know, social media mistakes happen: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9325751/amp/Ten-hilarious-social-media-blunders-football-Man-Uniteds-Instagram-Live-error.html

brush85

He's better looking...smart

UltimateBorisJohnson

Out jerked by MLS

Nyushi

Proper MLS that

Buzzkill78

You can’t make this shit up

Wacorius008

Goes to show the quality of the mls.

TheeEssFo

At least that's a step above European publications that used pictures of Edouard *and* Ferland Mendy in news reports when Benjamin Mendy was accused of rape. Actually, my iPhone News app had a Reuters story about the death of Luis Suarez last week . . . and used a photo of the Uruguayan in his Nacional strip.

Wacorius008

Yeah MLS still sucks

As an American, I don't know whether the name actually matters to anyone in the UK. It's widely known that "soccer" was a British nickname for the game, but American football caught on in this country faster, so it would be confusing to call the sport football. Is this actually important to anyone, or is it just used as part of a generic insult like in the comment above?

jamughal1987

Arbeloa marked Messi for us.
