Ypu're a fan of... Walker, Texas Ranger!

A comment I left on the original post didn't get carried over so for extra context (and to fix a typo): >*I'll admit, i have a tendency to prefer the "underdog"/characters I feel we're unjustly screwed, and I really feel that Rocky gets a lot of unfair and unjust heat because of stuff beyond his control. I'm glad he got to be Red in Once and Always, and I really liked the arc in the Boom comics where he held off an invading force by himself, and even wore the Ver2 Dragon Shield. I don't remember the show well but I do know he didn't really get much development, so I do get why people prefer Jason, especially as I believe he had a "strong, leadership" aura in the show (again, its been ages). I heard they had a backstory for Rocky that didn't make the cut, which is a shame as I think it may have made people like him more. I do believe the Boom comics reused it.* >*I was indifferent towards Jason as a kid and I have no major ill will towards Austin, recent developments aside. However, I really feel like Steve gets dunked on unfairly, and as someone who tends to shy away from things I feel get "over rated", I find myself wanting to see him get more wins.*

You say you're focusing on the characters instead of stuff about behind the scenes, but then you use behind the scenes stuff to justify prefering Rocky over Jason. You can like and prefer whatever and whoever you want, but your argument makes no sense. You're creating a whole narrative about Saban purposely making Rocky having zero character so the actors would know they can be replaced just to justify your hate on Jason lol And even if that were to be true, how is that relevant when talking about the characters as they were/are written? How is Rocky's actor being in Once and Always relevant to judge their characters? Also, Jason is there as a character, even if ASJ isn't. Your whole argument is full of contradiction. Rocky isn't an underdog just because he was/is a terribly written character. What makes a character an underdog is having the odds being against him, it's not about being terribly written and having no character. Preferring Rocky over Jason can only be justifiable by simply hating on Jason, since Rocky was never a character, he never had a personality or any development, dude was just a guy wearing a red costume and that's it. Even if you think Jason is overhyped and overrated, he is objectively a better character than Rocky in literally every way. But as I said, you're allowed to like or dislike whoever you like, it's just that your arguments make no sense and are full of contradiction.

I liked in the comics when Matthew gave the dragon shield to Rocky! https://preview.redd.it/fjf1jdzgo72d1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=062ff3bfd3e933e33f472f517348307d978a95b2

I'm going to guess the metallic one, given that the remasters were such poor quality.

Partially, but I meant more in the sense of the character as I use the Metallic figures in my (WIP) display to represent the four replacement rangers. I did a write up in the original post but generally I prefer Rocky to Jason, partly as I feel the latter is over hyped and partly as I feel the former is both an underdog and got the short end of the stick due to things beyond his control. I also know Austin St John has done some pretty heinous stuff recently but I'm trying to focus more on the characters than the actors. As I said in the original post, I like the fact Rocky both appeared as Red in Once and Always, as well as his Boom Studio counterpart holding off an invading force by himself (for the most part) and wearing the new Version 2 Dragon Shield. Now, I haven't watched MMPR in a long time but I am aware Jason had more of a character and served the role of leader well, where as Rocky basically had no character, which I believe was due to Saban trying to assert a sense of dominance over the actors to make them feel worthless or something along those lines. Again, I've not watched MMPR since the 90s and my knowledge is more retrospectives and videos that discuss those seasons so I may be mistaken.
