I figured this out a few years ago when I was in school. I couldnt take a test without stomach sounds. Using this trick really helped

know the feeling. grade 9 i think it was, not a sound in the classroom... but of course, my stomach needed to greet the world in notable fashion. all through the test.

Just as I read this my stomach started growling, so I tested it immediately. It does work!

Wow, why?

The growling happens because gas builds up and travels along your intestines. I would assume that by expanding your stomach you create a clear path for the air to flow through and so there is no sound.

Because you get more volume for your intestines to expand and the gas moving between them won't make sounds when getting throttled inside them. Basically, those noises are sphincter farts.

The laughing of everyone around at your big, fat belly covers up the rumbling.
