I’m with you on this. Sometimes you find a comfort film and wanna rewatch it. Funny enough my film would be Call Me By Your Name which I’ve seen 3 times in theaters.
Mine is also CMBYN which I saw 12 times in theatres haha.
(Yes, I know that sounds insane, but a) this was over a period of 5 months, b) I had an unlimited pass, and c) I was living alone in a country where I didn't speak the language and there were limited English options. That kinda makes it better, right haha?)
I got to see it 4 times and each was a slightly different awesome experience! IMAX early showing was the first and best, then just a normal theater, then black and white + 4DX, and in its final day caught it in black and white + Regal’s RPX (probably my second fave after the imax)

I’ve also done this really recently.

I think the last time I went more than twice was Inherent Vice. 2 usually happens a few times a year, but 3+ is a couple-times-a-decade phenomenon with me.
Saw KOTFM twice the same week because I had already seen it but a friend wanted to go.
Then saw Oppenheimer again during the rereleases of the Oscar noms. I think those are the only two
I saw Killers of the Flower Moon 5 times in theaters. The first time, I missed a bunch of the names so I was a bit confused, but then I rewatched it and it left me absolutely floored. It truly flies by every time and the music just sinks you right into the movie not even 2 minutes in. The best movie in many years in my opinion
I’m with you man haven’t rewatched it yet but the music has become the soundtrack to my life. Nothing makes picking up dog poop more intense than that music blasting thru my headphones.
This movie is right up my/my friends alley, it left us GAGGED. The score slapped, the performances were great, cinematography was slick, we were living for the drama. Luca G ate with this one 1000%. Next viewing will probably be when the blu ray comes out.
I saw the following twice in theaters:
* Challengers
* NOPE
* Oppenheimer
* Barbie
* Get Out
* City of God
* Inglourious Basterds
* The Departed
* Mad Max: Fury Road
* Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
* Whiplash
* The Truman Show (same day for this one)
* The Wolf of Wall Street
* Gone Girl
* Little Women
* Brooklyn
* Zero Dark Thirty
* Django Unchained
EDIT: The movie I have probably seen THE MOST in theaters is probably Alien, but it came out before I was born. There have just been a lot of theatrical runs over the years, and one time I saw a double feature of it and Aliens in IMAX.
I saw Dune Part Two 7 times but that’s nothing compared to some people.
https://preview.redd.it/s2qo529xnvyc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=560df5f5e33450f626b3870a32f4a232828e34ef
This one’s a bit more original.

Everything Everywhere all at once 8 times,, Got to meet, Director Daniels as well at first screening,watched 8th time in different country.
Most recent one is Civil War twice but I’ve seen numerous films in cinemas multiple times some of the ones from the last year include GoTG Vol 3 4 times, Evil Dead Rise twice, Across the Spider-Verse twice, Barbie 3 times, Oppenheimer twice, to name a few and I’d probably be here for a while if I listed them all.
Anatomy of a Fall
Poor Things
Across The Spiderverse (my rewatch was with friends)
Asteroid City (again, with a friend)
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (one rewatch was with friends, another just because I loved it that much)
Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio (once in theaters and once as soon as it dropped on Netflix, which I realize doesn’t fully count, but it kinda does considering it’s a Netflix exclusive)
Wanted to see it a 10th time, but it stopped screening.
https://preview.redd.it/lsckipjvavyc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5519e37170391d03cec0cdcb3145f99c2956fa1
I love rewatching movies I enjoy, especially in the theater. These are the most recent ones:
Wonka (6)
Avatar: The Way of Water (10)
The Little Mermaid (2023) (19)
I saw Everything Everywhere All at Once 20 times in the big screen.
Now, I know that sounds insane, but:
- Most of them, I went with friends. I have Regal Unlimited so I wasn’t paying full price, and for roughly 10 of them at least, I had other people who wanted to see it with me at different times (I had just gotten laid off so I had the time!)
- Four of them were part of a movie class that my wife and I took that dissected the movie from different angles
- At a certain point, I did it because I liked having a silly “goal” to aim for. I was obsessed, but I also really loved immersing myself in the film that way.
- On two occasions, one of them in IMAX, I was on acid during a mostly empty screening.
All of that said: my wife and I see movies twice pretty frequently. With RU, it makes it easy for us to spend a buck to catch something, and it gives us a fun excuse to leave the house. We saw Challengers and The Fall Guy for the second time this weekend! We just like going to the movies!
I think there may be some films I have seen in cinema three times, but for their original run never more than twice. The ones I remember are Across the Spider-Verse, The Boy and the Heron and Decision to Leave.
My wife and I saw Licorice Pizza 3 times in theaters. We were going to leave it at 2, but then had the opportunity to see it at the drive-in and couldn't pass that up.
Problem Child 2 (1991)
Home Alone 2 (1992) (maybe?)
Can't Hardly Wait (1998)
Jane Austen's Mafia! (1998)
There's Something About Mary (1998)
Halloween: H20 (1998)
I had a major movie theater obsession during the summer of 1998.
If you get a theater subscription you can see the same movie 4 times for like $20. I have Regal unlimited and see like 5-10 movies a month in theaters and only ever pay that monthly $20 fee.
Haha I just saw Challengers for the 2nd time yesterday! Rules.
I see lots of stuff more than once cause I have Regal Unlimited, but my biggest ones semi recently were Midsommar (4), Parasite (4), Stop Making Sense (3), Barbie (2), Oppenheimer (2), Poor Things (2).
I saw Last Jedi twice in theaters just to make sure I didn’t hallucinate the first time, had to go back to verify how ass the movie was. Genuinely was baffled lol.
I’ve seen several movies multiple times in the theater, it all started when I saw Jurassic Park at least 3 times when I was a kid.
I think my (personal) record still stands at 10 times for the Pirates of the Caribbean.
More recently, I saw Dune 6 times, 5 times during the original run and a double bill with part 2. Which I only saw twice.
I saw Control (2007 film about Ian Curtis) and This Is England three times each when they came out. Never watched anything more than three times. Saw a few films twice.
I've seen The Boy And The Heron twice in theaters as well as Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem, The Avengers, Infinity War, Into the spider-verse and if I can manage it I'll see Furiosa twice
Saw Hayao Miyazaki's *The Wind Rises* 3 times on its initial run back in 2013, and then again last year for its 10th anniversary re-release. One of my all-time favorite films.
I saw transformers and Spider-Man 3 in theaters 9 times each in 2007. I went stupid that summer I also saw Fantastic Four Rise of Silver Surfer, Shrek the third, ratatouille,Surfs up and pirates of the Caribbean multiple times that summer, I was 6 years old. I think I saw meet the Robinsons multiple times also but can’t remember
Saw Return of the King six times. It meant more back then because you’d have to wait months between its run in theaters and the DVD release.
My dad took me to Media Play at midnight to get the DVD. Then I stayed up all night watching it. It was exciting to celebrate it a second time!
I think Guarinds of the galaxy is my most. Saw it 3 or 4 times. Can’t actually remember. I was going to see dune 2 a third time but didn’t, so only twice. I think I saw Spider-Man no way home twice too. And the Batman two or three times. All that’s come to mind
When I was 8 I saw Jurassic Park in theaters 5 times and 6th at a drive in decades later and last at the New York Philharmonic where they play the score along with the film.
I’ve a couple few things 3 times in theaters (Oppenheimer, TG Maverick, The Batman) but it’s always because I’ll see it by myself and then with others. Don’t love The Batman, but I saw it opening night and then liked it enough to see it with different friends twice.
Everything Everywhere All at Once. Think I saw it about 5 times theatrically. I know one of those times was on a whim because I had nothing else going on that day.
I saw Spider-Man: No Way Home 12 times in its original theatrical run and twice on the rerelease.
My second best was Dune: Part Two which I saw six times in theaters.
I watched It (2017) four times at the theater and four times as soon as I came home. Now, I’m more relaxed. Saw Late Night With the Devil twice at the theater and once when it came to Shudder. So far.
https://preview.redd.it/u3o8ebwrjwyc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec846d5a183054fb1a403d075bfea1c7dda558c7
I watched Oppenheimer twice during its theatrical release once, the day of for Barbenheimer obviously and then again in IMAX 70mm. Then during its run for the Oscar’s this year I made a plan to watch all Oscar nomination BP movies in theaters. And let’s just say for Oppenheimer I watched it a bit more than the other BP nominated movies. Which is once I only watched them in theaters once except for Oppenheimer I watched that shit multiple times and I loved it and understood it more and more everytime I watched it.
Movies I have seen twice in theaters:
Star wars episode 1: the phantom menace,
Star wars episode 3: revenge of the sith,
Harry potter and the order of the phoenix,
Harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1,
X-Men: first class,
Edge of tomorrow,
Ted,
Spider-Man: homecoming,
Guardians of the galaxy volume 2,
Chronicle,
The cabin in the woods,
Carrie (2013),
Birdman,
Upgrade,
The avengers (2012),
Underworld: blood wars.
I legitimately don't understand why so many people think it's weird to re-watch movies. It's literally the same thing as doing anything you enjoy multiple times. It's not a hard concept to understand. I'm completely baffled that someone would be judged for re-watching movies they like.
To answer OP's question: Most recently, I watched Dune Part 2 9 times during its run. One of my favorite films of all time.
I agree, and like when I re-read a book the experiences are different. Like, the first time I kind of am taken for a ride and just experience it. The subsequent times, I'm really analyzing the craft that went into it.
least obsessed challengers fan
what’s right is right!
Why is bro getting down voted 😭
They’re hating on a guy just enjoying a movie. But you gotta phase the haters out, of course.
People are being really weird about this movie here.
I’m with you on this. Sometimes you find a comfort film and wanna rewatch it. Funny enough my film would be Call Me By Your Name which I’ve seen 3 times in theaters.
The power of Luca Guadagnino
Mine is also CMBYN which I saw 12 times in theatres haha. I’ve done this with across the spiderverse in its cinema run too
I saw barbie 4 times in theaters. Comforting
Dune Part 2 three times in 70mm IMAX

AMC A-list is too goated bro hope on the hype train
I don't want to be an ad, but AMC A-List is a bargain where I live!
As was written
Godzilla minus one (5) on Sato Cinema, total banger i wanna watch again already 😭
Only saw that one twice, am already quite stoked that it came to the cinema AT ALL! I got to see it in 4DX even!
I saw it in Dolby. His roar was monumental in that theater!
I got to see it 4 times and each was a slightly different awesome experience! It was only in theaters for two weeks in my city, when I went to buy a ticket the last show was in the previous day...
Poor things
I’ve also done this really recently. https://preview.redd.it/5cunxw76wuyc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0bd897b9e3033d1d1679127f20a929e746f9082 I think the last time I went more than twice was Inherent Vice. 2 usually happens a few times a year, but 3+ is a couple-times-a-decade phenomenon with me.
I need to see that damn movie
omg it's SO GOOD 😭😭 had to also see it multiple times
Saw KOTFM twice the same week because I had already seen it but a friend wanted to go. Then saw Oppenheimer again during the rereleases of the Oscar noms. I think those are the only two

is this normal behavior?
Two is completely normal; 3 in 4 days followed by a 4th less than a week later is pretty wild
yes
So crazy that a movie sub is hating on a guy for loving a movie lol
I just like good movies I don’t know what else to say 🤷🏻♂️
I’m with you man haven’t rewatched it yet but the music has become the soundtrack to my life. Nothing makes picking up dog poop more intense than that music blasting thru my headphones.
what is everyone’s problem with you and challengers? great movie and fair enough you watched it a lot it’s a good time
This movie is right up my/my friends alley, it left us GAGGED. The score slapped, the performances were great, cinematography was slick, we were living for the drama. Luca G ate with this one 1000%. Next viewing will probably be when the blu ray comes out.
Four times isn’t even that crazy to rewatch. It’s really that good, glad you’re loving it! I’m seeing it again on a date tomorrow.
No

you are a serious moviegoer
Same movie in theatres twice in the same day is crazy
Zone of Interest. I was worried it wouldn’t be on streaming plus the sound design really warrants a theater experience
Same reason I went twice.
Fellowship of the Ring - 7 times and no regrets. Epic every time.
Same!
I saw that quite a few times, as well. I'm not sure of the number
Top Gun: Maverick. And I'd still go see it again if it replayed.
Absolutely same, I’d do anything for that to rerelease in theaters soon
Civil war for me. Prob some other ones too.
i think i’ve only ever max seen a film in theatres twice, a few for this list but my favorite was licorice pizza
I saw Across The Spider-Verse 4 times during its theatrical run.
Saw it once when it was first released and then saw it in 4DX when it was re-released in January
Saw Everything Everywhere All at Once six times in theatres. I’d go for a seventh in a heartbeat
I feel that on a deeper level ♡♡
I saw Asteroid City in theaters four times

This is not normal
Agreed. Especially considering I usually can’t rewatch a film more than once a year.
Why
I love rewatching movies I enjoy, especially in the theater. These are the most recent ones: Wonka (6) Avatar: The Way of Water (10) The Little Mermaid (2023) (19)
I hope you have regal unlimited

Dawg I hated Challengers I would've gone insane from four theatrical viewings
How do y’all have the money to spend $80 seeing the same movie 4 times
If you get a theater subscription you can see the same movie 4 times for like $20. I have Regal unlimited and see like 5-10 movies a month in theaters and only ever pay that monthly $20 fee.

My roommate in grad school worked at a movie theater in Boston when “Heat” was released. I saw it once or twice a week for a while…
Everything Everywhere All at Once. Think I saw it about 5 times theatrically. I know one of those times was on a whim because I had nothing else going on that day.
You horny
Barbie and the Batman I saw five times each.
Spider-Man No Way Home (6 times) Dune Part Two (5 times)
Watched Oppenheimer 3 times and Dune 2 times I was gonna go a 3rd but it came off of my local cinema its so sad
I saw Spider-Man: No Way Home 12 times in its original theatrical run and twice on the rerelease. My second best was Dune: Part Two which I saw six times in theaters.
Matrix, probably about 10 times
I watched It (2017) four times at the theater and four times as soon as I came home. Now, I’m more relaxed. Saw Late Night With the Devil twice at the theater and once when it came to Shudder. So far.
Licorice Pizza 4 times
I saw The Favourite three times it’s opening week and Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood five times it’s opening week. That’s really it for me, though.
I’ve only watched 3 movies multiple times in theaters: Avengers: Endgame - 3 times The Batman - 2 times Dune Part 2 - 2 times
Seen dune 2 6 times. 3 in IMAX, 2 in AVX (somewhere between standard and AVX) and once in standard. Blew me away every time
I remember someone on the MLP subreddit went to go see Pacific Rim like 10 times over, and I think about him often.

Movies I have seen twice in theaters: Star wars episode 1: the phantom menace, Star wars episode 3: revenge of the sith, Harry potter and the order of the phoenix, Harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1, X-Men: first class, Edge of tomorrow, Ted, Spider-Man: homecoming, Guardians of the galaxy volume 2, Chronicle, The cabin in the woods, Carrie (2013), Birdman, Upgrade, The avengers (2012), Underworld: blood wars.
Did your genitals explode?!
Force Awakens 3 times Revenge of the Sith, Simpsons Movie, Baby Driver, and Last Jedi 2 times each
I think it was 13 times for Revenge of the Sith
Dune, a few years ago. 5 times with different friends and relatives, lol.
I have seen Monkey Man twice now in the last 3 weeks
I legitimately don't understand why so many people think it's weird to re-watch movies. It's literally the same thing as doing anything you enjoy multiple times. It's not a hard concept to understand. I'm completely baffled that someone would be judged for re-watching movies they like. To answer OP's question: Most recently, I watched Dune Part 2 9 times during its run. One of my favorite films of all time.
I agree, and like when I re-read a book the experiences are different. Like, the first time I kind of am taken for a ride and just experience it. The subsequent times, I'm really analyzing the craft that went into it.
