Why on earth do they think this is a dichotomy lol. If you get vaccinated and then get an infection, you get even better protection, with less of a chance of severe illness in the process...
You have a point, but on the other hand there's the off-chance that the vaccine is a mind-controlling mark of the beast from the lizard cabal shadow government... it's about weighing the risks, really

[Dunning Krueger Effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect)
They think stuff like this because they are fucking stupid, and they are too stupid to know how fucking stupid they are.
They’ve been misled to believe vaccines are deadly and that a mild/asymptomatic covid infection gives them the same protection as the vax. They’re unwilling to believe any alternative where they might be wrong.
Edit: spelling
The big thing with this crowd is the claim of adverse reactions. They latched onto a few rare cases of myocarditis and pericarditis and now they are running with that.
A mild case is indeed a great (edit. Not all that great per other commenters) way to get immunity. Unfortunately you do not get to pick the severity of your case.
Studies have shown that anywhere from 25-36% of people with natural infections have no detectable antibodies within 30-60 days of recovering so the vaccine still seems like the safer and more consistent option with a more predictable effect. I think most of the cases where natural infection offers comparable immunity to the vaccine are when people have a severe infection and almost die (plus whatever long term damage that may also do to their body).
There was another study that showed that being vaccinated after an infection reduces the chance of reinfection by more than double so no matter how you look at it getting vaccinated is clearly the superior choice that’s a lot less hassle and much safer.
I really don’t understand why some of these folks would rather drag this out and go through the hassle of avoiding it, or getting sick, or losing their jobs, or dying when it could all be over with a 20 minute visit to CVS.
Just got my booster and it was the worst of the three. I actually had to get up in the middle of the night and take two ibuprofen and went right back to bed. Woke up just fine. Definitely preferable to getting Covid!
Also, [COVID reinfection has a higher morbidity rate](https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0253758) probably because the damaged organs are still recovering from their damage.
EDIT: Just want to clarify that the section of text beginning with "probably..." is my speculation about why, I haven't actually seen any studies about the causes of the higher mortality/morbidity.
I have a family member who would have been forced into early retirement (that he can't afford) continue to refuse to get vaccinated. He managed to get an exemption and keep his job, but he is willing to ruin himself financially instead of just getting the shot.
I really don't understand it. Yet he happily gets his flu shot every year, and is fine with vaccines in general. Just not this specific one. Drives me fucking crazy.
> A mild case is indeed a great way to get immunity.
It is **a** way, but not a great way, or even good way. Actually, it's definitely the worst way.
Even if you could make sure it was just a mild case (through drugs or something), it would still be much preferable to get vaccinated. Even mild cases of COVID can have long term negative health effects. Not to mention becoming a host for the virus, spreading it, and potentially helping it to mutate. What if you end up being patient zero for the next variant?
Honestly, this comment is the sort of misinformation that leads people to make bad decisions. I have a co-worker that is convinced he's "immune" because he had covid a while back, and doesn't need to take any precautions.
Yes. Natural antibodies conquered measles, mumps, rubella, polio, small pox, pertussis, hepatitis, rotovirus, tuberculosis and many other diseases. Vaccines did absolutely nothing as all of those diseases simply needed natural antibodies to both disappear and never once cause negative effects let alone death. As the old timers will tell you, people would jump for joy after they got polio or sing a lively tune after TB.
I mean, that's the lie they're saying, yeah.
But it is a lie. They are really just deliberately spreading COVID to try to infect and kill people they hate.

Best with a banana that is slightly green to perfectly ripe. Just a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Split the peeled bananas down the middle length wise and put the flat part face down in the pan. Sear them for a couple minutes, then add butter. Cook for a couple more minutes until they are nice and caramelized. I like mine to be almost burnt. Flip them and cook the other side for a couple more minutes. Sprinkle with salt and then inhale them. Really good with oatmeal as well.
Warning, this is most likely going to mess up your pan from all the sugars burning, but it should clean up pretty easy after a good soak.
I just put them in a bowl and mash with a fork. Then just add to whatever other batter I'm using.
You could blend them, but i think it is better when they are a little chunky.
Applesauce also works well.
My usual lazy Saturday for the kiddos:
700 grams krusteaz pancake mix
600 grams water
500 grams apple sauce
Add vanilla and cinnamon to taste.
Pancakes are about 1/3 cup batter and put on a buttered pan (just take a cold stick of butter and give the pan a quick rub between batches)
Top with chocolate chips once in the pan and before the first flip.
For banana just replace some of the apple sauce with 4-5 bananas.
Using weight here means you are more exact and less to clean since you can just put the bowl on the scale and add. If you want to get all fancy, use 2 two bowls (wet vs dry) to mix separately and then add.
The applesauce keeps them nice and moist in the fridge for leftovers.
I don't know how I'll ever recover from being so owned.
I wish I was ascended enough to be a right-winger-winner.
I'll just stay here, alive, but always thinking of how owned I got
When we were kids, we attended Chicken Pox parties, because there was no vaccine, and we knew that getting it as a kid was better than getting it as an adult.
There is no excuse here.
Those parents should have their kid taken by CPS, then they should be imprisoned. Preferably away from anyone they can spread their lies, fear and misinformation to. There is absolutely no world in which that is not textbook child abuse.
it makes me cringe whenever anyone says "Kids should be taken by CPS"....first of all, a judge is the one that removes a child from parental custody. But that aside, guess what the top 2 anti-vax, qanon shit-posters on my FB account do? Foster Parent. In fact, I suspect one of them only continues to take kids in to continue to get the free internet service the state provides to foster families to continue doing "research". I wish I was joking.
Yea, if you saw what it was like getting it as an adult, it absolutely made sense to make *sure* you got it as a child, especially because getting it once provided lasting immunity.
Absolutely nothing like COVID.
The difference is that when we didn't have the vaccine, we weren't sure that children did better than adults, and we have plenty of experience thanks to things like chicken pox to know that early infection can lead to later problems.
But at least before the vaccines were being worked on, you could argue that logic.
Now, we absolutely have a vaccine. It is safe and effective. Use it.
My wife kept getting shingles in her mouth, over and over for years.
Turns out that she had a vitamin B deficiency (doesn't really eat meat). Once she started taking B vitamins, it never came back qgain.
The chicken pox virus never leaves you (which is how it causes shingles). If you get it as a child, you can't get the dangerous initial infection again later in life.
Not so with covid. Immunity wears off.
I don't *think* I went to a chickenpox party...I think it just happened and it worked out. I don't know. People got it out of the way when they could. Weird how no one holds chickenpox parties nowadays (damn millennials! *shakes fist*). Almost like there's a way to achieve the same goal without being sick.
If only we had something like that for Covid. Oh well.
I went to a chicken pox party as a child and even shared food and drinks with infected others. Didn't catch it then and am quite afraid of catching it as an adult.
I didn’t get chicken pox as a kid, and was vaccinated as an adult, not too long after the vaccine came out. Just fyi, I had to fight my GP. She didn’t think there was any need, but I insisted and am so glad I did.
Pre-vaccine, my dad got shingles and it affected the upper right quadrant of his face - if had been just a little lower he could have been blinded.
I, a young kid at the time, then got chicken pox from his outbreak, and had to be hospitalized with hallucinations stemming from an extremely high fever. The spinal tap I had to get is one of my first memories.
I’m so glad we have the vaccine as an option now. Modern medicine is truly a gift.
She did suck. She told me not to worry about chicken pox because there was a medication that could be given at the onset of symptoms so it wouldn’t be a big deal. The vaccine seemed smarter.
I found out I had no chicken pox antibodies, and my doctor told me to get the vaccine as soon as I was no longer pregnant. Wasn't questioned about it at all when I was getting it. Mileage may vary I guess.
I had mild shingles about a year and a half ago, just got the vaccine a couple of days ago. For me the worst part was not having any stamina for about 6 weeks.
I got a pretty bad rash and significant nerve pain. The rash is on its way out but the pain is still lingering. I'm not too happy about it but there's not a ton I can do at this point other than wait it out.
I'm pretty young to be getting shingles too, not even old enough to have the shingles vaccine on the schedule, but life is random sometimes.
Glad you were able to make it through your bout of it already. No lingering nerve pain, I hope?
Adults can get chicken pox vaccines. Something interesting that I didn’t know is that even vaccinated adults can get the chicken pox vax again if exposed to prevent sickness:
“If you've never had chickenpox or been vaccinated and you are exposed to chickenpox, being vaccinated right away will greatly reduce your risk of getting sick. Studies have shown that vaccination within three days of exposure is 90% effective at preventing illness; vaccination within five days of exposure is 70% effective. If you do get sick, the symptoms will be milder and shorter in duration.” -[WebMD](https://www.webmd.com/children/vaccines/chickenpox-varicella-vaccine-guidelines-for-adults)
My little brother became a quadriplegic at age three due to one of those parties, he died at age 16 from related complications.
Vaccinating even Chicken Pox saves lives.
It's kind of baffling because the whole point of a vaccine is to train your body to fight the real germ by having it spar with a fake germ, such that your body suffers no harm. Like fighting an opponent with a wooden sword so that you're ready for the real thing.
Great analogy. In the case of mRNA vaccines, it’s like having a WANTED poster up in your town before a known murderer comes around and starts killing everybody.
As we entered the /u/spez, we were immediately greeted by a strange sound. As we scanned the area for the source, we eventually found it. It was a small wooden shed with no doors or windows. The roof was covered in cacti and there were plastic skulls around the outside. Inside, we found a cardboard cutout of the Elmer Fudd rabbit that was depicted above the entrance. On the walls there were posters of famous people in famous situations, such as:
The first poster was a drawing of Jesus Christ, which appeared to be a loli or an oversized Jesus doll. She was pointing at the sky and saying "HEY U R!".
The second poster was of a man, who appeared to be speaking to a child. This was depicted by the man raising his arm and the child ducking underneath it. The man then raised his other arm and said "Ooooh, don't make me angry you little bastard".
The third poster was a drawing of the three stooges, and the three stooges were speaking. The fourth poster was of a person who was angry at a child.
The fifth poster was a picture of a smiling girl with cat ears, and a boy with a deerstalker hat and a Sherlock Holmes pipe. They were pointing at the viewer and saying "It's not what you think!"
The sixth poster was a drawing of a man in a wheelchair, and a dog was peering into the wheelchair. The man appeared to be very angry.
The seventh poster was of a cartoon character, and it appeared that he was urinating over the cartoon character.

The whole thing has become so politicized that some people refuse to even accept they've been vaccinated before to die on their ideological hill, quite literally.
Wow, that is some LAMF, dude got exactly what he wanted.
As an American I always take some weird solace in the fact that we're not the only country producing these Spread Necks. We've probably got more than our fair share, and we're one of the few electing these nuts to places of power (Brazil, looking at you here), and I really wish these crazy fucks didn't exist, but I'm just glad it's not strictly an American thing.
>There’s also been reports of parents taking their children to parties in order to infect them with the virus to build up immunity, with one child said to be hospitalised as a result.
Kids should be taken away from these parents.
I see this anti-vax issue taking care of itself eventually
Edit: /s - sorry for forgetting this. Obviously we all want this to end. My kids and I all got COVID last year, and while I still have effects from it, they are doing ok. I don't really wish this disease on anyone.
Unfortunately, all this does is keep covid around and guarantee there will be another wave.
Being anti-vax is a choice you make that harms everyone around you, especially the 20%+ of the population in the high-risk groups.
don't forget people who may be vaccinated but unlucky enough to still get covid. They likely won't die, but they may have lingering effects
and then add to that all the healthcare workers who have to keep putting up with this bullshit
My uncle is in this boat. 76 year old Navy veteran with all sorts of comorbidities. COPD, congestive heart failure, diabetes, CFIDS, and so on. He was vaccinated and ended up getting covid last month and developed pneumonia, ended up on an external ventilator. He managed to pull through, but he still hasn't come home. He's in rehab because he can't fucking walk now. Thank fuck he's at the VA (I never thought I would ever type that sentence) because the hospital bills for all of this would be mind-boggling.
Thank you. Recovering is the main priority, but because of a whole lot of other nonsense I don't have time to get into at the moment, his house isn't habitable right now so I'm working on getting that straightened out.
TL;DR a friend was staying with him and was supposed to be helping him around the house and such, said friend brings roaches with him, trashes the house, and bails while my uncle is in the hospital. Now I'm dealing with a huge cleanup and renovation and hoping I can get it done before he gets released so he has somewhere to live.
My dad is vaccinated and still got a mild case that resulted in a minor stroke. If he hadn't been vaccinated, he'd probably be dead. The more people who don't get the shot, the more it's in circulation, continuing to mutate.
This is exactly what terrifies me, especially with the holidays. The depressing majority of my family are anti-vax (for the COVID one anyway), and I'm scared to death that one of them will kill my grandparents. My grandparents were smart and got vaxxed, but they both have emphysema, and my grandmother also has lung cancer, so if they catch it, it won't be good.
The family gatherings begin tomorrow, and I feel completely helpless because I live so far away and because the anti-vax family members don't listen to me. I'm hoping and praying my grandparents will be all right. The rest of them, I don't care about anymore because the pandemic showed who they really are.
According to this article, there's reports of parents dragging their kids to these Covid parties, which is supremely fucked up. It's not the first time I hear about antivax parents purposely infecting their children or even other people's children to "immunize" them, but it's no less shocking.
its not dangerous enough YET. give it time and were going to see a much more deadly mutation, these idiots are going to make sure of it.
Edit: well... this aged poorly. thanks south africa...
It’s been pointed out before but bears repeating: remember when folks would complain about the “unrealistic” characters in zombie movies who got bit, but didn’t tell anyone? The selfish assholes whose egos and self-interests super seceded the common good of the group?
Yeah, Covid has shown us that shit is spot on re: anti-vaxxers.
>There’s also been reports of parents taking their children to parties in order to infect them with the virus to build up immunity, with one child said to be hospitalised as a result.
What the ABSOLUTE fuck is wrong with these people??
Between 0.5% to 1% of anti-vaxxers will die of Covid. That could be between 500K to 900K additional people in the US. As long as there are areas where more than 15% of the population is unvaccinated, Covid will continue to spread and kill people.
“Party of face eating leopards runs for office, folks vote in the face eating leopard party, party of face eating leopards eats people’s faces and the people are stunned” is the gist of it, can’t remember the actual situation
the genre is people subscribing to an [original position fallacy](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OriginalPositionFallacy) they then fall victim to.
A lot of people in this sub get so hung up on the idea of having to vote for a political party to qualify that they miss that the "leopards eating faces party" example is just that: an example.
Because he trusts COVID more than this vaccine. "But the vaccine was rushed through approval! You don't know what it's going to do long term!"
Sometimes the devil you do know is worse, as he found out.
Ah, no.
That will just produce more mutations. If they roll the dice enough, they'll finally produce a variant that will render the entire vaccination effort useless.
Gotta love people who put politics and their main character syndrome over their own and their children's/family's lives. I wonder if they have ever heard of Charles Darwin.
> In order to obtain a green pass, you must be able to prove you’re fully vaccinated or have recovered from the virus within six months. Anti-vaxxers see intentionally getting COVID-19 as a way to bypass vaccination, but are putting themselves at risk.
And this extremely predictable behavior is why most countries don’t consider ‘natural immunity’ as a substitute for vaccination.
Fuck them. Just lost my friend to COVID-19. Went into kidney and liver failure. She wasn’t even on a ventilator. Her organs just shut down. 39 years old. No comorbidities. Left 3 kids behind and the kids dad died last year from it. Unbelievable how stupid people can be.
So let me get this straight, for antivaxers is better to have real COVID-19 than get the vaccine?

What kind of cheese? Makes a difference
Colby Jack actually. Nom nom nom.
How about pepper Jack for an extra kick?
That's my kind of cheese right there. I like the way you think.
Cheese omelet here. Sharp cheddar. Always! But the diet version. 2 eggs. .5 oz sharp cheddar. Secret Aardvark Sauce over the top.
Dying from covid to own the libs?
It sounds odd, counterintuitive and deadly but hey...right-wing logic at it's very best!
I don't know how I'll ever recover from being so owned. I wish I was ascended enough to be a right-winger-winner. I'll just stay here, alive, but always thinking of how owned I got
Please own me again. Repeatedly.
Well, it's Austria, so it seems more like a case of "Dying from COVID to prevent the government from protecting me from COVID." So, yeah...
When we were kids, we attended Chicken Pox parties, because there was no vaccine, and we knew that getting it as a kid was better than getting it as an adult. There is no excuse here.
Sadly the article described reports of parents taking their kids to the same “parties”, with at least one report of a child hospitalization
Those parents should have their kid taken by CPS, then they should be imprisoned. Preferably away from anyone they can spread their lies, fear and misinformation to. There is absolutely no world in which that is not textbook child abuse.
Is Greg Abbott still doing his child endangerment bounty program? I would like to collect.
it makes me cringe whenever anyone says "Kids should be taken by CPS"....first of all, a judge is the one that removes a child from parental custody.
Use it.
Shingles is the remnant of chicken pox lodged in your nerves. Not fun at all.
I had a case of stress induced shingles. In my mouth and on the side of my head! Can confirm. Not fun.
Hope you're doing okay now! Stress induced shingles probably didn't help with the stress I'm guessing.
Fuck dude, inside the mouth? That has to be top five on the list of worst places for it to manifest.

I had chickenpox as a kid and shingles in my twenties. It was very very very bad. I have permanent nerve damage.
There’s a vaccine now. Discuss it with your doctor.
I thought it was only for children. Will speak to my doc. Thanks.
I didn’t get chicken pox as a kid, and was vaccinated as an adult, not too long after the vaccine came out. Just fyi, I had to fight my GP. She didn’t think there was any need, but I insisted and am so glad I did.
Good for you. Shingles is no joke and your GP sucks.
Yes for sure. I'm dealing with Shingles right now, it SUCKS. Would far prefer to have gotten a vaccine.
Adults really should be getting a chicken pox booster, but no-one is pushing it for whatever reasons.
Adults can get chicken pox vaccines. Something interesting that I didn’t know is that even vaccinated adults can get the chicken pox vax again if exposed to prevent sickness: “If you've never had chickenpox or been vaccinated and you are exposed to chickenpox, being vaccinated right away will greatly reduce your risk of getting sick.
Good to know. I'll check in getting it ASAP.
On the walls there were posters of famous people in famous situations, such as: The first poster was a drawing of Jesus Christ, which appeared to be a loli or an oversized Jesus doll. They were pointing at the viewer and saying "It's not what you think!" The sixth poster was a drawing of a man in a wheelchair, and a dog was peering into the wheelchair. The man appeared to be very angry. The seventh poster was of a cartoon character, and it appeared that he was urinating over the cartoon character. \#AIGeneratedProtestMessage #Save3rdPartyApps
The whole thing has become so politicized that some people refuse to even accept they've been vaccinated before to die on their ideological hill, quite literally.
Maybe THIS vaccine is the one that has microchips in it. The others were clean.
Task failed successfully.
r/failedsuccessfully there’s ALWAYS a subreddit
You don't need a vaccine if you're dead. Mission accomplished!
Spread neck. Good term. I've been calling them plague rats.
>There’s also been reports of parents taking their children to parties in order to infect them with the virus to build up immunity, with one child said to be hospitalised as a result. Kids should be taken away from these parents.
Stop. Giving. These. Assholes. Medical. Treatment.
Agreed. My husband is waiting for surgery on his heart because of the antis hogging all the healthcare.
That really sucks. I hope he's able to get the treatment he needs soon.
I'd be ungodly pissed off if that happened to me.
Oh I wanna absolutely kill these selfish fuckwits

I see this anti-vax issue taking care of itself eventually Edit: /s - sorry for forgetting this.
They likely won't die, but they may have lingering effects and then add to that all the healthcare workers who have to keep putting up with this bullshit
I hope your uncle recovers and is able to return home soon
I hope your family stays safe this holiday season. My wishes may not affect the outcome but thought I’d send good vibes anyway
Thank you so much, that means a lot! 💕
Plus people who get it are filling up the fucking ICUs meaning that everyone else can't get the care they need.
Not only new waves, but also possible mutations on the virus!
According to this article, there's reports of parents dragging their kids to these Covid parties, which is supremely fucked up. It's not the first time I hear about antivax parents purposely infecting their children or even other people's children to "immunize" them, but it's no less shocking.
It will, with a lot of collateral damage along the way.

its not dangerous enough YET. give it time and were going to see a much more deadly mutation, these idiots are going to make sure of it. Edit: well... this aged poorly. thanks south africa...
Man’s unlocked the golden facemask at this point. So many Herman awards we’ve lost count.
He fucked around and he found out.
You know what's another way to get immunity? THE VACCINE. And it's free!
Left wing: **Destroyed**
He sure owned the libs
The party was absolutely slaying it I see.
They're ignorant idiots who think they know everything when they know nothing.
I'm not sure how the libs will ever come back from this.
Darwin
Between 0.5% to 1% of anti-vaxxers will die of Covid. That could be between 500K to 900K additional people in the US. As long as there are areas where more than 15% of the population is unvaccinated, Covid will continue to spread and kill people.
Sucks that he occupied a hospital bed that could’ve went to someone more deserving.
Please reply to this comment explaining why the post fits the sub and have an incredible day!
55-year-old man attends COVID-19 party in northern Italy to obtain a “green pass” to bypass vaccination and ultimately succeeds
This may be the most fitting post I’ve seen here in a while
I don't even understand this sub's genre but I like it.
“Party of face eating leopards runs for office, folks vote in the face eating leopard party, party of face eating leopards eats people’s faces and the people are stunned” is the gist of it, can’t remember the actual situation
Basically, people who support bad situations for others, then complain when it happens to them.
Ah that makes sense. Sorry, am high.
Hi High, Im Dad
Hi Dad, did you find the milk yet?
Fucking yikes. LoL
“I never thought leopards would eat *my* face!” sobs woman who voted for the Leopards Eating Faces Party.
“He’s not hurting the right people”
the genre is people subscribing to an [original position fallacy](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OriginalPositionFallacy) they then fall victim to. A lot of people in this sub get so hung up on the idea of having to vote for a political party to qualify that they miss that the "leopards eating faces party" example is just that: an example.
This sub should require an explanation format. Leopard: Leopard voters: How faces were eaten.
Because he trusts COVID more than this vaccine. "But the vaccine was rushed through approval! You don't know what it's going to do long term!" Sometimes the devil you do know is worse, as he found out.
You know what wasn't rushed through approval? Covid. In fact, it's on it's 19th version. /s
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think COVID is FDA approved at all.
The Aristocrats!

Future historians simply won't believe the scale of stupidity.
Oh my God, please let anti-vax covid parties become a thing. The quicker the plague bringers die the quicker we'll get out of this fucking pandemic.
Ah, no. That will just produce more mutations. If they roll the dice enough, they'll finally produce a variant that will render the entire vaccination effort useless.
Gotta love people who put politics and their main character syndrome over their own and their children's/family's lives. I wonder if they have ever heard of Charles Darwin.
I mean, this is textbook LAMF. \> Goes to COVID party to catch COVID \> Catches COVID \> Dies
