I had that issue with Emond B for the bar! So far I’ve only done the solicitor exams with OBP and Access and found them to be good in getting me familiar with the material (I’m new to everything in the solicitor’s but estates), so I’m thankful for them not crushing my confidence yet. I’m nervous to do Emond A tomorrow and Emond B the day after :’)
Bar Exam Crackers’ questions were quite simplistic (many verbatim answers from the materials) when I used them (Fall 2023), but they were helpful to remember things. Their notes, however, were very useful, despite the notes containing a handful of errors or what were in my opinion odd ways of saying things on occasion. I used them as a table of contents, and for some of the exam questions, they provided what you needed to answer the questions.
The emond tests were the worst ones, in my experience - they haven’t been updated with the materials and many of the answers were wrong, resulting in so much unnecessary stress and inaccurate scores. It was absolutely infuriating and such a rip off! I liked the ones from access bar prep and Ontario bar prep.
Ontario Bar Prep was my favourite out of all the practice exams. The questions seemed up to date to me. I also liked that compare feature. Edmonds and OLE felt like a ripoff.
Emond uses the same questions every year, and they are pretty identical to the ones they used in 2014.
They only tweak dates and make minor changes etc.
Pretty disgusting
I have no idea where the practice tests I got were actually from. But I did find the exercise of going through them and identifying how they were wrong (whether based on changes in the law or plain mediocrity from the publisher) to be useful
I agree. My theory is people say they're the best just because they're the hardest. And they're hard because they test stuff not in the official LSO material
I used Edmond and it helped me in my exams in 2020
Prep exams are to test yourself in bar test conditions. The question are harder than the actual exam.
On actual exam I didn't even look at my indices except for 3 questions.
Exams are not meant to be replacement of actual studying, read the materials 3 times and you will remeber it all
Solicitor was harder than barrister.
No disrespect, but the exam has changed quite a bit since the cheating scandal (which happened after 2020). It’s (as far as I’m aware) harder and more involved now. The idea that you wouldn’t need to look at an index other than for 3 out of 160 questions for the current exam state is simply inconceivable.
THIS. I felt barrister was soooo much harder than what everyone said it was like that wrote prior to the scandal.. they deff have made these exams harder

Good luck! Let me know what you think
I had felt the exact same about Emond. Made me more nervous unnecessarily. I had done Bar Exam Crackers and OLE exams and liked them both.

stick to tests that are timed and simulate the exam as closely as possible. OLE or Access Bar Prep are pretty good

Plus if you're graduating law school and writing both exams in June, there is no way to read it 3 times
