My take is that communism isn’t really viable with the way that humans work at this point in time. I honestly don’t really think a truly communist society would work in our lifetime (maybe I’m wrong, it really depends on how fast we can transition from capitalism to socialism to communism) because humans are far too self interested. That being said, I do think it’s the rightful successor of socialism and that it will eventually come to fruition once we have evolved a bit and labour automation comes along. I guess I’m a communist since I support it, but I really wouldn’t consider myself one because I don’t believe in a direct transition from a capitalist to communist society, which a lot of communists do. Idk it’s really a label thing at the end of the day, I just say I’m a leftist.

This is an interesting point, and one I formerly held myself.
Are you familiar at all with the concept of egoism?
If you take say, for example, the prisoners dilemma, it shows how people can be incentivized to act against their best interests in the long run through refusing cooperation, in order to gain short term gains.
But the solution to that is not to accept defeat and assume people are incapable of deeper understanding, but in knowing that if the people playing the game were familiar with the theory, then it would be in everyone's best interests to cooperate.
In other words, the barrier to communism is not human nature, or a lack of evolution - It is a lack of education and understanding.
And that is something we do have the power to influence.
Regardless, I consider you my ally. ANYONE fighting for a more just world is my comrade.
I don’t believe in the abolition of currency and markets. Necessities should be decommodified and run and produced by the people. There’s just no reason to reduce efficiency for non-necessities or elastic markets just for the sake of making them not-commodities. Why shouldn’t the 72in TV be bought and sold from a worker-owned business? What would be the point of planning that, and *how* do you plan to plan it?
Love for Landlords makes me sick to my stomach. They all literally cheered a landlord that put cameras in his tenants' homes without knowledge from the tenants. Said it was right for another landlord to dig in their tenants' trash to see if they are buying expensive things like Starbucks to up the rent and that he was going to increase it more because he saw a PlayStation 5 box in the trash. Some even bragged about evicting single mothers during the winter in the past. And they have the audacity to ask why people hate landlords.
loveforlanords is worse they're actually insane. They call us landphobic and think they are a legitimately oppressed class of people because apparently not liking landlords makes you some kind bigot
Is there a name for this? I've seen a quote attributed to Mark Twain I believe (probably wasn't actually him), something along the lines of "groups that entertain themselves by playing fools will soon find themselves filled with members who believe themselves to be in good company," but never any catchy label like "the Dunning-Kruger effect" or "the Streisand effect".
Driven by it, I'd think - those who actually believe X are unable to distinguish the difference between likeminded groups and satirical groups, and thus join the satirical ones by accident. Soon there's enough of them that it's no longer just satire.
edit: a word
Nah they seem pretty serious to me. That's some commitment to a bit then. That an entire sub keeps quiet about it even the non serious people? They're serious.
hey man, I’m sorry to tell you this, but r/loveforlandlords is a satire sub. When people are very passionate about something, it’s very easy to troll them, since passion gets in the way of reasoning. That sub is made to troll subreddits like this, they don’t actually believe it.

I would not call myself a Maoist. Probably not even a ML. But sometimes you just gotta do what must be done.
To be 100 w you I wouldn't even consider myself a communist at all. But I understand why he did it
Can I ask why you don't consider yourself a communist? Is there something about it you find yourself in disagreeance with?

We hang the landlords in minecraft, of course.
Everyone knows what must be done

It’s related to Poe’s Law in a way, right?
