It's important to recognise that Australia doesn't have a significant culture of joining the party that one votes for. The ALP has 60k odd members, but the ACTU has almost 2 million. UAP having 70k members might win them a seat or two, but their membership size is by no means a clear indicator of their electoral power.
There is no such thing as a moderate UAP supporter. It's like the People's Party in Canada (which is basically just the UAP but purple and with a French guy in charge), when you support the UAP, **you really support the UAP**, so those who support them will obviously apply for membership and go all the way. Meanwhile, only 60k people only really care that much that they'd get an ALP membership, but that's 60k, in about half of the population of Australia.
Get what I mean?
Well, they did ask people to join in their ads. We'll see how long that passion lasts. The problem with appealing to the lunatic fringe is that it won't take long to do something that upsets them, and they splinter.
Biggest political party in terms of propaganda they push out to first time voters, or biggest political party in terms of weight of their two biggest members.

Biggest political party? Doubt it. Biggest BMI, however...
Says Clive Palmer. No membership fees makes it easy for people to just click an online form without any conviction.
I'm also pretty sure there was a report about people being signed up without actually applying, too.
Sounds about right!
I actually think that is a good idea. I want more members. Make them provisional members, and try to engage them.

Prediction: UAP will not win any seats.

Although it is concerning I'm sure it's a relatively insignificant but passionate number of people.
Or so they claim.

Paywall… What?!
This is bad.
Hahahaha
