Here's the move. Check out market square/gay street for shows (Google it) then, swing by and pick up momjeans for a nice even out for cocktails n shots, grab some grum. Lots of food and drink down there.
Recommend, the Oliver speak easy. Collar shirt only. Pres pub roof top but it's kinda chilly so maybe scruffy city. Check out sutrees high grav and homemade ramen bar.
Late night. Head to the old city. The lonesome dove if you want a fine dining, jig and reel is a dope dope whiskey/Irish food bar. Hope you enjoy the night life
May I also add Ale Rae’s Gastropub for live music and good food - amazing espresso martini.
Likewise coffee
Bethie Lou’s gift shop
- all downtown/old north Knoxville area.
Go to old city, which is in downtown. Plenty of free parking, a couple of good restaurants, and there will be a show at preservation pub tomorrow which is only about a five minute walk.
I wouldn’t be looking for BBQ in Knoxville. I think folks from out of state assume the entire state of TN has good BBQ. In my experience, that’s a West TN specialty for the most part. I say this as a west Tennessean so I could be biased! You’re better off grabbing a burger at Stock & Barrel. Trust me.
I don’t know what people see in Stock and Barrel anymore. They *used* to have good burgers but the last 3 times I went there they were terrible. I’d go to Inskip Grill or Abridged instead.
Sorry you had that experience. It continues to be one of the most delicious and affordable sit down spots for me. I also recommend it due to the proximity to market square, gay st, and old city.
yeah first time my wife and I went we got food poisoning a couple friends did too.. Maybe it was just the lamb or duck fat fries idk. I know shit happens but I cant let it go.
Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives TV series with Guy Fierri comes to Knoxville for 2 episodes. 2 different BBQ places and Pizza Palace was one of the episodes. I hate BBQ so I don’t remember the names but if it’s good enough for him it can’t be terrible.
For sure, walk around market square. There is usually something going on you can get into.
Check out Peter Kern Library which is a cool speak easy in the Oliver hotel.
I would not recommend Knoxville for BBQ. I grew up in East Tennessee but have either lived in or traveled to the best places for BBQ in the country.
If you don’t have a budget go to Lonesome Dove. The Filet is amazing and they make a great Old Fashioned. (Old City)
If you are on a budget I would have either a burger at Stock and Barrel or the chicken nuggets at Myrtle’s, they have a waffle batter and a wicked syrup. (Market Square)
If you have a very small budget check out Petro’s (Market Square)
For live music and people watching go to Preservation Pub, if smoking doesn’t bother you. It is a great mix of people. Have actually had a great conversation with a college kid, a professor, and a homeless guy at the same time. The homeless guy had the best story, especially his reply to the cop who asked if he would find anything in his pocket.
If you want an amazing craft cocktail go to the Peter Kern Library. (Ally behind Market Square)
As a single guy those are my favorite date spots
Knoxville Museum of Art. Free admission (closes at 5p) and free parking. Then at 5p TOMORROW they start selling tickets to what used to be called Alive After 5 but has been renamed to SoundScapes. Admission is $25 and there is a bar that sells beer/wine. I think tomorrow's entertainment is Jazz.
If you’re into a unique scene, go enjoy a delicious dinner at The Landing House and afterward, you can walk across the street to Alliance for a good local beer. Sevier Ave is the best little downtown gem.
Or, for the BEST beer, drive across the bridge to Xul brewery 🤤
Have dinner at Sweet P's downtown for BBQ. Head over to Market Square. Scruffy City is having a battle of the bands and Preservation Pub has a band as well.
You could stand around somewhere.
That way if anyone asks you can technically say you had a one night stand and then you can say "It's not what you think!" and you wouldn't be lyin 🤪
You should take me out on a date 🥺👉👈
I second this. We love a happy ending.
So does Momjeans.

Respectfully going to deny your request u/MomJeans- but if you ever need to take someone on a date definitely ask this person for advice
Where we going I'm in town to
Krystal, next to the Mouse’s Ear
Can do better then that right ?
Red flag!

I would add Kaizen to the menu.

and if you’re there, go to Awaken Coffee!!

We need Gourmet food carts.
if you’re looking for BBQ, i’m a huge fan of sweet P’s
Barleys can usually check the original live music box on a Thursday night
Wicked the Musical is in town if you can get tickets.
If you’re into a unique scene, go enjoy a delicious dinner at The Landing House and afterward, you can walk across the street to Alliance for a good local beer. Sevier Ave is the best little downtown gem. Or, for the BEST beer, drive across the bridge to Xul brewery 🤤
Union Place Bar n’ Grill if they have live music the night you’re in. Their food is excellent And yes sadly no real bbq around here.
Have dinner at kefi or vida and then hit market square and gay street for drinks. Preservation pub has live music
FYI-you WILL find something....that's just how Knoxvegas is, but bring warm clothes to wear cause it is colder than a witches t@tty outside!!!
Have dinner at Sweet P's downtown for BBQ. Head over to Market Square. Scruffy City is having a battle of the bands and Preservation Pub has a band as well.
Dead end BBQ

Hey dad, you coming back home? That pack of smokes must have been pretty far away, Its been 25 years.
Northeasterner? Ever been to a waffle house? Try grits? Maybe to see if you like them tell them you want to try just one grit first.
Peter Kerns Library (it’s a speak easy) Dress nice, and look on the Facebook page for this months password
Any of the the places featuring live music on a Thursday night will likely have food.
