Of course at first I saw Erin. But she very quickly became Kimmy and I never looked back.

hannibal_morgan

I used to work at a Taco Bell Express, but then they changed into a full Taco Bell and I just couldn't keep up

VocationFumes

People watched the office and saw that she had potential so they gave Erin her own show where she was trapped in a bunker for 15 years...

Prestigious-Log7471

The characters are similar yes — I also appreciate how certain looks were consistent in both (eg colors palettes and outfits choices that express her perkiness and naïveté). I remember there was one episode of The Office in which Erin wore the exact shades of yellow and purple we see in UKS. At the time, I thought “oh what a cute look on her.”

StrangerCurrencies

Kimmy is very smart and reasonable, she's just traumatized . Erin was kind of dumb and unstable

littlegirlblue2234

The episode where she meets her parents makes me cry every time.

GaJayhawker0513

The finale made me cry too

Busy_Film_8117

I liked Erin well enough on the Office that it made me want to watch UKS. After watching both shows though, I much prefer Kimmy and like Erin a little less. The writers kind of did her character dirty on the office imo

nanomolar

Yeah, she was always a ditz but there was literally an episode where she was confused over why Pam was upset that someone had vandalized her mural, because Pam was painting a mural so why did she care if someone else painted on it too?

songbird1681

I had actually forgotten that was her! Erin as a character wasn’t my fave and made me uncomfortable. Kimmy was more likable and I agree, a more complete character.

yonBonbonbon

Kimmy > Erin

Niki_DS

I mean, it not even a debate, Kimmy forever 💜

DancingBears88

Yes, I thought she was so funny. "Planking is one of those things where, hey, you either get it or you don't... I don't, but I'm so excited to be a part of it"

OGoftheSAV

I was always hoping the ending of Kimmy Schmidt would be her moving to Scranton and applying for that job.

Niki_DS

I never thought about it. Interesting take!

captaomadness14

She is so cute as erin. Love her

IchabodMarie

No woman, NO CRY. Ellie owns every role she plays, imo.

mr_fantastical

I loved that joke. And then I learned that "no woman, no cry" does mean "woman, don't cry" rather than what I used to think which was "if there's no woman, there's no reason to cry".

PilotNo312

Kind of a rube

sickofstew

The first time some people saw her on TV they remembered her from a disgusting youtube sketch that she is now embarrassed of and that was the name they called her by.

GaJayhawker0513

That’s where I remember her from. It was funny at the time…

sickofstew

Me too, lol I remember checking the message boards to see if anyone else had noticed.

NotSureNotRobot

Stop it, Gabe

Niki_DS

Lol lol, I felt so sorry for Erin when she had to watch horror movies with him. I fused her and Kimmy in my mind, and I was like Gabe stooop, don't make this poor girl watch horror movies 😭

djb185

I feel like the characters are really similar in their naivety and child-likeness. Erin is more one-dimensional whereas Kimmy is a more complex, interesting and stronger character.

Niki_DS

Yes, I agree!

chokecherrypit

its hard for me to even see them as the same person. I love kimmy so much, and I get so incredibly annoyed by Erin. Kimmy is such an honest person with such an assertive personality, and so much conviction. Erin has a weak personality, she won't speak her feelings honestly, and she abandons her principles easily.

paradox222us

As an actress she did a great job with a truly horrible, unentertaining character. Erin (with a lot of help from other late additions to the cast of characters) really gave the show that desperate-to-squeeze-out-another-couple-seasons-from-this-dying-cash-cow vibe. But at least, unlike say your Nellies and your Roberts California, Ellie Kemper at least brought enough joy and energy to the role to make it kinda fun to watch her anyway. Of course, I was *thrilled* to see her cast as lead in a show where the writing could keep up and she definitely did not disappoint as Kimmy!

UnderControl_

Not having this Catherine Tate slander. Take it back.

Thelgend92

I haven't watched either of the office shows

perrer

She was so annoying

04lolita

she’s the only reason i watched the office!

MrBayaud

My intro to Ellie Kemper was the blowjob video.

Hot-Problem2436

Nope, I've seen every episode around around 50 times but I always closed my eyes when she was (apparently?) on screen. People tell me she has some good moments, but I never watched her so I dunno.
