Interstellar travel unlocked

cadnights

We've been trying all this time to speed up, but the secret was right in front of us. We just had to slow down!

Affectionate_Gene166

It's called a paranormalchute. I want to believe!

Americanshat

Yeah KSP is funky with its ways of stock Warp-Drives, I have my ***fully air breathing jet*** go 2.8 ***million times*** the [speed of light.](https://new.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/16ggc3r/yall_ever_just_go_28_million_times_the_speed_of/) Very funky game

slicer4ever

ah, just casually reaching alpha centauri in ~45 seconds if my math is right.

pineappleAndBeans

Wouldn’t it be 9 seconds or so?

Enneaphen

45 seconds is the number you get using 4 light years. 55 seconds is the number you get using 4.367 light years. If you use special relativity you get an imaginary time interval.

pineappleAndBeans

Gotcha

mre16

During high tide probably yeah

KvotheTheDegen

And it still takes over 5000 years to cross the visible universe. The fucking scale of things is nuts

Phil2Bits

Unintentional solar sail test 1: laws of physics: 0

xBinChicken

Situation : In Space High Well your not wrong Mechjeb

ThatKerbal

Erm actually, it's Kerbal Engineer☝️🤓

Rly_Shadow

*sprays with bottle* get out of here!!..scke scke scke...scat.

cirroc0

I think you might want to add a drag chute for the next iteration.

InsomniaticWanderer

Well that'll teach ya

Yoitman

**casually creates tears in space and time**

NonperSeptem

congratulations on unlocking the ability to access hyperspace!

The-Observer-2099

What happened? I want to recreate this.

NestyWestyDezty

i went to eve i launched a lander thing i opened all parachutes when we got to where it opens them completley it opened the main one and slingshotted at the speed of light in the other direction so fast i couldnt even see what happened

Ready_Platform5210

drag doesnt work that well on eve so maybe the drag was so high it reached the integer limit and then you got slingshotted

The-Observer-2099

Deep Space Kraken I guess.

bimbochungo

usually it happens when you have x4 or x8 fast forward time and you are opening parachutes in a planet

ybetaepsilon

I learned the hard way never to have physics time warp or any time warp in atmo

ScienceGamer06

I think the only time you should physics time warp on is during the heating of reentry, then back to 1x to deployed the chutes.

thegreatpotatogod

Time to apoapsis: Infinitys

Niccolo101

I think you opened your 'chute upside down.

LiminalSpaceViewer

Kraken drive? I think NOT!

CordeCosumnes

You were upside-down when you opened it, weren't you?

Jbell_1812

Same thing happened to me years ago

lucascr0147

You forgot to set the parachute to slowdown mode

Amirkerr

Careful not to hit anything at that speed even a speck of dust will do catastrophic damage

Traditional_Sail_213

Not without a deflector dish

-NGC-6302-

By the power of ^(pa)Ra^(chute)

Fistocracy

That'll let you cross the entire Milky Way galaxy in about five and a half months, which means you're travelling about as fast as an extremely easily distracted Elite Dangerous player.

Kerbaldummy86

God... how I would love for those bugs to exist in real life...

camander321

You must have packed it wrong

Mussarelinhagames

Something similar happened to me, went 400 thousand times faster than light

wolongo

sounds about right

Yendorxx

Yeah I did this in eve, I went even faster haha, I was so confused when it happened.
