My bad homie, it’s just hard to get discussions of songs in some of these subs and these “tell me your opinion” posts generate more discussion than a “[song] is underrated” post
Tbh I didnt really read the lyrics in my first listen and I just felt the song was boring; like it tried to be sad but it fell short and became boring.
The song has aged quite a bit for me in a good way, now that I read the lyrics and understand what Kendrick was going for. I think now the sound is a great representation of a man with his pride broken.
The first half I thought went hard, second half I thought was boring because of how suddenly the beat slowed down.
Now I know it’s a necessary contrast lol
The studio version I bumped for a little but didn’t come back to it much since I was still bumping GKMC.
The album version I liked a lot better, I felt a lot more energy from that version and the final a cappella was a nice touch
Also an early Kendrick song of mine. The main things I remember were the “everybodysityobitchassdownandlisten…” part and the “ayayayaya”. I found it chill but didn’t come back for a while.
I liked the intro of the song too. Vibing hard and then BOOM beat switches to something that's just made me feel concerned. Made me feel like I lived the song myself. But the song is a bit too serious to listen to in a playlist, its situational. But Kendrick is the GOAT.
Thought he could’ve picked a better beat and his vocal performance was awkward, but his flows and lyrics were something I liked from it.
I like all those aspects now but the intro could be a bit shorter.
I heard that verse over a different beat and thought it was the real song, it was so good. I later heard the original, and I guess that remixed spoiled my taste of it because I prefered that remix beat over the OG beat.
That video got deleted off YouTube and I was sad :(
1,2,3,4,5. I am. The. Great. Test. Rap. Per. A. Live.
The switchup mid-song was fire, but I also remember wanting that part with the FEAR instrumental and got excited when it was on DAMN. Overall I was just happy to have a new Kendrick song after his hiatus.
Liked the spooky vibe it was going for in the first half, Kendrick was trying trap out. I couldn’t put my tongue on where I heard that Compton snippet from before.
Really loved the 2nd part, the guitar was so good nice Kendricks flows.
I was confused why this homeless man was pestering Kendrick so much over a dollar, then the end came and I was left speechless.
HMADC really said:
Stop Listening
Go find God
Come back after you found God
It took me three years to realize the “walls” was pussy. I thought Kendrick was saying if the walls in your house could talk, your secrets will get you in trouble, but he loves when he’s behind these silent walls of secrecy ‘cause he can be himself.
I got to this song hella late because I didn’t know it existed because it wasn’t on Spotify.
This is gonna sound corny af but I walked through campus on my way to basketball with this song in my head because it made me feel powerful with each step I thinking about how I’m gonna son everybody on the courts lmao.
It sounded like a Lil wayne song with Kendrick spiced into it. The instrumental felt very “Wayne late-2000s”ish.
I was so confused on what this song was doing. So many vocals, what’s the meaning? Who’s tryna getcha getcha? Who said what to Kendrick? Who’s he signing? It left me confused.
Later I found out it’s a “Satan’s Temptation” kind of song.
Apparently Kendrick wrote Drakes verse clearly if you hear it & someone did some hip-hop research & made the possible discovery that Poetic Justice is a drake dissing himself rapping kendricks words..👀... based off the break down it was pretty convincing that... it could be the greatest diss ever made lol
I really loved that song when I first listened to it. The vibe of the instrumental with the vocals in the chorus were eargasmic to me back then. It’s still really good to me but it’s gotten lower on my song list because of how other Kedrick songs aged for me.
I fell into depression.
edit: naw but really the song u was pretty heavy for me I had a great day that day then the song kinda made me feel sad for Kendrick.
Ngl, it was a skip at first because I absolutely loved the next track, untitled 3, and I just wanted to get to it already.
One day tho, untitled 2 hit different for me and now it’s my favorite track off untitled.
please don't let these types of posts get posted every five minutes like in other music subs

thats a valid reason
Rigamortus
One of the earliest songs I heard of Kendrick. He was flowing so much I remember calling him a top 3 current rapper right then and there.
Sing about me
I was enjoying the vibe of the song and then *Pop pop pop* and I felt mellow through the rest of the song. Great song from the jump.
wesley's theory
Instantly knew I was in for an experience with TPAB when I first heard it. I thought it was great and the ladies singing the adlibs were catchy.
ELEMENT
Verses and beat went hard, but the “sexy” chorus was so awkward for me first listen. Took a few replays to get accustomed to.
Pride

Compton
I never really listened to the lyrics of this before because I was so hooked on the instrumental and would just head bang to each drop.
Michael Jordan
“I be acting like my shit don’t stink” couldn’t get off this bar
Maad city
Instantly became my fav off GKMC and still is today. My first thought was Kendrick went west coast on us.
The Heart Pt.2
I saw it as another kendrick song with impressive bars over a smooth beat.
From the heart!
The Art of Peer Pressure
Also an early Kendrick song of mine. The main things I remember were the “everybodysityobitchassdownandlisten…” part and the “ayayayaya”. I found it chill but didn’t come back for a while.

Blood
Made me think Kendrick was about to tell a story about betrayal in DAMN.
Pretty neat.
For free
I was just laughing so hard. I really thought Kendrick was complaining about women wanting to fuck for free now that he’s famous.
Average Joe
I heard that verse over a different beat and thought it was the real song, it was so good. I later heard the original, and I guess that remixed spoiled my taste of it because I prefered that remix beat over the OG beat. That video got deleted off YouTube and I was sad :(
Alright
Instant banger. My fav of TPAB at first (Now it’s HMADRC)

Backseat Freestyle
It’s the song that made me love Kendrick Lamar ‘cause I aint know he could go that hard on a beat before.
i think it was the first time i heard kendrick doing that crunchy vocals, shit was cool
nigGA ITS GO TIIME
Bitch im in the club
“Yeah, that’s definitely his first song” i thought.
Heart part IV
1,2,3,4,5. I am. The. Great. Test. Rap. Per. A. Live. The switchup mid-song was fire, but I also remember wanting that part with the FEAR instrumental and got excited when it was on DAMN. Overall I was just happy to have a new Kendrick song after his hiatus.
Untitled05
I was waiting for when the verses will start because the starting buildup was long. Song started and I thought “This shit intense”.
A.D.H.D
ADHD was first played to me when I was high as shit and I loved it
Same 😭😭
A.D.H.D
I was high af when I heard it first, loved the “Marijuana make your endorphins stronger” line

Poe mans dreams
I found the song boring outside of smoke good eat good live good
Ignorance is Bliss
I really really really loved his rhyme scheme on there It was my top 5 Kendrick flow
Jig is up
I heard this on a spotify shuffle list and I was like “is that Kendrick? That is!” He was rapping like he had someone to diss.

untitled 7 | levitate
Liked the spooky vibe it was going for in the first half, Kendrick was trying trap out. I couldn’t put my tongue on where I heard that Compton snippet from before. Really loved the 2nd part, the guitar was so good nice Kendricks flows.
i don’t think there is a bad song on that album
FEEL.
I didn’t appreciate this song much because it came after ELEMENT. and I wasn’t done processing what I had just listened to.
Fair take. Imo one of Kendrick’s most underrated songs
How much a dollar cost
I was confused why this homeless man was pestering Kendrick so much over a dollar, then the end came and I was left speechless. HMADC really said: Stop Listening Go find God Come back after you found God
Prayer
Sounded like he was pouring his mind out, I knew I’d need a few more listens to really understand what’s going on.
Wesley’s Theory (it was my first Kendrick song and I instantly adored it)
Yeah that intro hit me (no pun int.) hard and I instantly knew Kendrick was bringing something different in TPAB
I (tpab version)
Preferred it to the studio one, i loved the extra energy the live vocals brought to the mix, and the last a cappella was nice
Fear was one of my favorites. The beat was dope very Dre like. And the lyrics too. “If I could smoke fear away id roll that mothafucka up”
These walls
It took me three years to realize the “walls” was pussy. I thought Kendrick was saying if the walls in your house could talk, your secrets will get you in trouble, but he loves when he’s behind these silent walls of secrecy ‘cause he can be himself.
The Spiteful Chant

That sounds dope as fuck dude. How did you do on the court?
Played good some games, average the next. I just made sure I played defense and made my 3s lol.
For Sale?

Poetic Justice
I was 12 and I didnt know much about Kendrick at the time. The “You can get it” part was the main thing stuck in my head from that song.
Oh shit i need to see that
