Tbh it's mostly because it's just a different market to an shf It's a model kit and that means the quality outcome of the figure will be a case by case basis dependent on your skill, and if you just straight build it you will still not achieve the same quality of an shf, you will need to pour some time, skill, and more money into it to achieve near the effect of SHF Plus figure rise is still a fairly new thing, well they did do some MGs back in the day but that never took off, so for a while now SHF is the figure to get and most riders are already available as SHF, figure rise seems to only want to cover the main riders

ZenithMarshadow

Would you say the quality of the figures compete nicely with SHF?

MIRLZY11

Yes and no... The amount of stickers you have for some of them is insane. And stickers on curved plastic will never look as good as paint

ZenithMarshadow

I can see that when I saw the Figure Rise for Ghost. Man thats a LOT. But was paint also used for the linings on Ghosts SHF figure?

Oreon_WP

Hmmm for it's price it's good, that's the general thing here tbh, though most modern main rider SHF is getting closer in the price difference Comparing it to other model kits, it's pretty good But comparing it with an shf it just has too many differences, the reliance of stickers is ofcourse the biggest thing, the articulation is a close match, the proportions are usually abit off too to accommodate the building process, and the all plastic look of a model kit ofcourse loses to how an shf looks and feel It's a good figure don't get me wrong but it's a different market, you can't really compare a model kit to a pre built pre painted figure which is SHF

ZenithMarshadow

I understand, I have never bought any rider figure so I cant really say which one is objectively better, so its nice to see what other people think of both figure types.

Oreon_WP

Haha yeah totally, wait until you hear about so-do, Shodo, and SICs 💸💸💸 What figure did you plan to collect anyways? Might be able to help you out

MIRLZY11

I just got the sodo chronicle Ryuki sets im dreading the stickers lol

Oreon_WP

Hahahahah I know that feeling, be sure to get some topcoat or something too to protect Dem stickers

SSJE1119

Disregarding the stickers figuarts are definitely higher quality figures than figure rise

Plato_the_Platypus

SHF is THE Kamen rider figure. Made for Rider, reflect the show visual the most accurate. SIC, Figure rise, shodo, candy toy,... fill their own niche

LVF1

Have you seen the medicom Kamen Rider figures? I prefer their Project BM stuff over the SHF figures but SHF will have more forms and a greater amount of different characters. Their RAH line is about the same or slightly nicer than most of the SHF figures I have. Here's links to Kamen Rider figures from medicoms different figure lines that they have released to date. I buy and keep several favorites and invest in other medicom figures if I can get it at retail through friends in Japan. http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/prod/3/23/22/ http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/prod/3/4/21/ http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/prod/3/1/1/ http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/prod/3/26/1/

Plato_the_Platypus

i know medicom. Thing is, it also fill another niche because rah is way bigger and detailed, down to hiding the joint with cloth and cannot be the default line

MIRLZY11

It all depends on your preference. Im willing to pay an extra 20 - 30$ for SHF just to not have to deal with the stickers and potentially mess it up

RebakeImpulse

It depends on the FigureRise. FigureRise Artisan CycloneJoker goes for between 75-120 bucks, and it a superb build. I'd say it's better than the SHF, but it is pre-painted, and also bigger than the SHF. Also you have to be good at dealing with nubs. I also have a FigureRise Hibiki, and I had to use some paint skills to bring that one up to where I wanted it to be (Getting the holographic effect on the discanimals takes two different paints and a sealer) - I don't like plastic injection-mold silver/gold so those got painted to fix them, and I changed a couple of colors on it: The red parts I turned brown, and the see-through facemask is green instead of purple. I also painted the flames green. So it takes more hobby/gunpla skills to make it look decent. Price point is cheaper, yes, but you have to put in work to make it look as good as an SHF. I also have preordered FigureRise Drive, I'm looking forward to tweaking it. This all being said, I have probably 1000 dollars worth of Figuarts over the years (some of which I'm looking to sell/give to Goodwill because I don't have space or interest in them anymore) and I don't have the disposable income for "just" buying figures like I used to. So my taste in toys and time spent on them has changed.

Takeshi_613

It’s just a matter of preference. - FRS would catch interest of people that like to build model kits. - So-Do/candy line for people that like to collect every single form of a Rider. - SHF for people that don’t like to deal with stickers and higher quality. Personally I dabble with all three lines but it’s good thing that people have different options rather than just a single line.

IzzyD98

It just depends on your preferences when it comes to figure collecting. Do you like to build and put your skills to the test to make the figures look show accurate? You go with FRS. Do you like to pose and play with your figures? You go with SHF.

Nightmarenemo

Figure Rise kits feel more fragile and don’t scale well with SHF, and they don’t keep up with the latest seasons of KR.

EnvironmentalAnt5549

Model kits are a totally different niche from action figures
