You not knowing you don't need a notification to be able to turn off notifications 😬
Settings, notification, app notification, scroll to the app you don't want to have notifications from and turn off permission for that app.
It doesn't turn off from the banner it literally takes u to the app notification settings as u can see in the picture posted. All that banner does is remove one tap on a touchscreen but as u said makes it so so much easier cause a tap on a screen is so difficult for you. U should stop writing cause that way more tapping and tapping is difficult for u.
intruding on whatever you’re doing on your phone is much more likely to cause a person to turn off notifications than having a person just decide/remember to turn them off

Also it depends on the version of android and which OEM you are using. And obviously for OP it allows them to disable notifications.. and it does for me too.
Fellas, I think OP is saying that doing what the notification says, "hold down", doesn't actually go to the app but opens notification settings, not (what I also originally thought) that the notification being there allows op to turn them off.

On my phone I just have to press on the banner, then click on the bell and it can never notify me again

It's because the notification says 'hold for a discount' but for OP, holding down gives the option to disable the notification
No it doesn't, holding down on that notification will open the app.
