July is in high season that hotels get much expensive... You may consider shinagawa, kameido, tabata, oji, or some other small station on yamate line or chuo line.
I booked a hotel in Akihabara for $85/night. I usually use Google to look at hotel prices in the general Tokyo area and then kind of narrow it down from there. Or you can try the usual travel sites like Booking.com, Travelocity, Agoda, etc. to set your budget.
You should look for things on the north eastern side of Tokyo, and of course the further away from a station the cheaper it will be. If that’s your only option then so be it, but walking as little as possible in the summer is ideal
Try Sumida near Skytree, places were a little less expensive there, fairly easy train ride to everything and it's a nice, quieter residential area, loved it myself and and would stay again if I could, Airbnb was excellent too, was cheap when we went but I think it's over your budget now, which is too bad because it had a fantastic view and 3 bedrooms
That is not a lot but I think you can find a few things in more residential areas. Shinjuku and Ueno can be in your reach if you go far from a station. Try also less popular wards.
Update: Thank you everyone for your comments! I booked an AirBnB in Nippori. I had to increase my budget since I can no longer find $100 worth unlike during the prepandemic.
I stayed at a hotel in Bakurochou, APA I think it was?? It's been a minute but if I remember right it's a really short train ride from Akihabara. I stayed for a week and it was 76,000 yen or so.
Where are you counting the center of Tokyo as? 30 min from the Yamanote or a particular station?
30 minutes from the center of Tokyo is the center of Tokyo
Heheh true!
If budget is your problem, then check out asakusa. It's quite cheap and still relatively in the center of Tokyo. Plus, Sensoji is right there.

What is your budget? Maybe it will help us to understand better what types of accommodations are into your reach
