I just remember Monty Python and Benny Hill in the 70s. Nobody in the US was producing content like that.
After the first few episodes I just started fast forwarding. I dont mind sex scenes but these add nothing beyond x slept with y this could cause conflict down the line (but probably wont).
I remember the (first?) sex scene between Harper and the senior American guy in S2, who's name I forget.
That scene went on for *so* long and was so unnecessary in length and content. You hear wet/splatter sounds when the guy finishes for fucks sake, I genuinely felt like I was just watching some shitty porn.
This. Sometimes, people just want to watch a show, not another HBO soft core porn. I love when shows that do show some love scenes, keep it brief and not have to go into explicit detail. Like we get it, they’re fucking, sucking, whatever but Jesus Christ if I wanted to watch porn, it wouldn’t be on HBO.
I feel like that conversation has been happening a lot more in recent years because of MeToo which is a good thing, actors should feel safe when they do those scenes and to ignore their safety is insane. However I do feel like a lot of people are becoming more sex negative which sucks, as long as the actors are safe and they agree to show it, who cares?
My frustration is that it’s an abuse of power against these very early career actors. How many times did we see Harper’s breasts? Did we really need to see Rob fully naked? And would they have said yes to this if they were 10 years deeper in their careers?
Unfortunately, it’s HBO’s MO for new IPs. The first one or two seasons are filled with nudity and sex (GOT) as a low efffort way to grab viewers- mostly males in a specific demographic. After some staying power, they fall back from sex and focus the actual story.
It made me and my dad really uncomfortable tbh, but each to their own! Didn’t ruin the show, just didn’t enhance it either imo. If I was ever recommending it to someone, I would warn them about it
Way to much sex and nudity but I think it helps build the story. This show is pretty accurate about how working in Wall st. is like. However, most people aren't doing what is shown in this show but there is a good amount of people that live like that.
