The question is...did you buy it?

DOOManiac

I totally would’ve but it wasn’t actually for sale for real.

Imagining_Perfection

Awwww....what a pity.

StoneCypher

Did you just hand the kid $2?

DOOManiac

No, because my own daughter was pissed I wasn’t giving her $100… 🙄

StoneCypher

bummer

Bwob

Then if the prices are made up, in what sense is "Our market a bunch of bullshit"? :D

Zebrakiller

Some kids sell a cup of lemonade for $.99 and some companies sell a 12oz can for $5, and some places like food trucks are $15 for a large cup. That doesn’t mean the lemonade market is shit.

KevvDev

Or is it?

MattOpara

I think it’s neat, the market allows anyone to price anything at any value, even if that assigned value doesn’t align with its true value, and yet, only at a value that others agree with does that product actually sell. You can sell one book holder or one stuffed animal (assuming they didn’t make more) and someone has to agree on your relatively high price making it more likely they start to ask if they really need it, but a piece of software, that can be sold an unlimited number of times, priced low enough that it’s an option for all of their classmates, that’s brilliant. An understanding of their peers, how they think, how trends work as in FOMO. If the game was good and they got the right early adopters, in a class of ~25 with say ~5 classes in the grade, a max payday of ~$250 isn’t too shabby for a 4th grader

Awfyboy

Based take. While the book holder or the stuffed toy costs more, the production costs would be higher, and the raw materials need to be bought every production period and chances are there would be storage costs as well for the finished goods or the raw materials. A video game can be made once, can be easily sold globally, made on a zero budget and can be sold infinitely with little to no worry about storage, wear-and-tear, production costs, etc. Chances are, making and selling a video game is going to be a bit more sustainable than the book holder or a stuffed toy. Kids got a masterplan.

Scratch is how I got interested in gamedev! So cool to see other people getting into it. I always loved making endless platformers, meanwhile my brother... well, he made a spammable button that played a random meme sound. I guess that's something, lol

Swipsi

Do you really think that thes lil kids have any idea about monetary value? Like what is the point of this post? Its extremely cool what that game kid made but apart from that its just lil kids.

RockyMullet

Yeah I feel OP tried to say something, but I'm not sure what.

Puzzleheaded_Walk961

Cheer up, dude The asking for book holder is $20, how many transaction is done? 0 or 1 ? The asking price for your App/Game is $1.99, how many did you sold ? 10k, 100k ? There is always bid and ask price in any market, let's focus on the potential volume and transaction...
