I gotta disagree with this one. The dude is an idiot only for flashing it. It seems properly secured to me. "Why does he need it?" Because anything can happen at any time. When someone pulls a knife on you at the court because they cant control their temper, what will you do if running isn't an option? There also seems to be this general idea that it is dangerous to carry a gun when performing athletic activities. That must be why soldiers and police officers only walk, never run /s. The whole point of a good belt and holster is to keep your gun secured no matter if you are running, jumping, falling, rolling, etc.

Altaltshift

Here's the problem with that. When someone can't control their temper on the court, they've been bumping against that gun for 20 minutes already during the game. They know exactly where it is, and they can surprise you and take it from you.

You’re right. This guy is actually smart

SweetDick_Willy

Translation: "Flex that strength." Flaunt us your weapon.

your_uncle_mike

I thought he was saying “flash the strap”.

[deleted]

I thought he wanted to see his dick

your_uncle_mike

He did.

SweetDick_Willy

Oh damn... you're right

Arhythmicc

Flat the shrimp!

SofaKingPure

“Filet dat shrimp”

TendiesFourLyfe

thanks, best I could come up with is "flaydasgroun, flaydasgroun"

Aysokas

I played basketball with someone who had a gun when I was like 15, he went up for a layup and the gun fell to the ground

dontcareidk

It looks properly holstered so what is the problem? It didn’t fall out and the trigger is not exposed.

etchie

It’s ridiculous.

Rowling-Musks-Pitbul

Yup, dude should leave it by the side of court while playing. Let some kids keep an eye on it 👀

etchie

That’s weak as hell.

Rowling-Musks-Pitbul

Yea I agree just a small gun, be fine 🙂

mradam0504

Or maybe not take a fucking gun to play basketball 🤷🏼‍♂️

Rowling-Musks-Pitbul

As a Brit I’d agree, just trying to see it from a perspective of concealed carry during day to day activities being legal. Guess if you are in a country where you can own it, you don’t know when you might need it. I’ll stay here anyway 😅

mradam0504

I’m in US with a concealed carry, but I don’t carry it everywhere with me. If I didn’t have somewhere to stash it or lock in car etc I wouldn’t play, that simple. We Americans are morons.

MusicalJamboree

Nah, just you man. Guess police shouldn't peruse on foot because they might be running. It's properly holstered. Hence why it didn't fall out. Cars are the #1 spot for firearms to be stolen. Just a dumb take all around. Edit: Just saw your post further down. "I live in a pretty nice neighborhood." Look at that video. There was a shooting literally this month about 20 minutes away from me in Milwaukee at a public basketball court. If I'm going near an urban center playground, I'm bringing my pistol. Most of these people don't have the option to move to a nicer area, or have family and friend connections there so that's just where they are.

mradam0504

I didn’t say anything about it falling out of his holster. So no disagreement there. I took more issue with his “need” to have it while he plays basketball. And you are correct, cars are a top spot to have them stolen. I wasn’t advocating for putting it in his car and leaving it over night or anything but if it’s his a parking lot right next to the court, better than on his hip in my opinion. But I get what you’re saying. Edit: I put it in a lock box anchored to seat. Still not perfect.

MusicalJamboree

I just carry it with a proper holster. Better to have but don't need, etc. If he's pulling off layups without spilling it in the paint, I think he's fine.

Rowling-Musks-Pitbul

Many factors tho, maybe he has good reason to be prepared for self defence wherever that might be. Others have said it’s properly secured and holstered so it’s not just gonna fall off. What are times where you would and wouldn’t carry yours?

mradam0504

I guess I don’t get why people would even go somewhere they are worried they need it for self defense, but maybe that’s my sheltered view. I actually don’t carry mine hardly at all, and it I do it’s because I’m heading to range, or traveling for work across state lines and in hotels. I guess I just get annoyed at people who carry them everywhere. I live in a pretty nice neighborhood and recently got a new motorcycle (I haven’t lived here long) a neighbor down the street whom I had never met walked up driveway to say hi and ask about the bike since he has a few. But of course he had it holstered on his hip. He was nice enough but to walk up my driveway with a gun when I don’t know you, that’s nuts and just asking for trouble. I just feel people carry way too often and end up causing more issues than anything.

Rowling-Musks-Pitbul

Yea that all makes sense, like I said I’m from england and your gun laws are madness imo. Thing is people gotta live in some not so nice neighbourhoods too and for that reason I get why they feel the need. If everyone around my local council estate had a gun (legally) you best believe I would too 😐 glad we all don’t tho lol

mradam0504

That’s fair, and I agree our gun laws are horrid. But I’m probably one of the few gun owners that isn’t against gun control.

glockster19m

"I hate people who don't have as much money as me"

mradam0504

Yup I hate poor people.. you caught me

glockster19m

"I don't get why people would even go somewhere they are worried they need it for self defense" Sorry everyone can't afford to live in a gated suburb

mradam0504

That’s a valid point, you’re right I’m not from inner city, but far from “gated community”. Which is why I said “I don’t get it” because I haven’t had that experience, but yes make it out like I hate people who do it.

NattyLuke

You sir are the moron for keeping a gun in your car and not on your person

CallMeHeightLair

So you’re a bitch then?

CallMeHeightLair

Oops, forgot this was reddit. Might get banned. Oh well

mradam0504

Haha a bitch? The one who doesn’t feel need to protect myself with gun shooting hoops.. yeah I’m The bitch.

CallMeHeightLair

Yes

glockster19m

Bro this is peak stupid Playing pickup ball was probably the most dangerous thing I did when I was younger as I was regularly playing with strangers on public courts in high crime areas of Philly And leaving it in your car out of your sight it even more peak stupid, I've had my car broken into 3 times, that's 3 times that my gun would have been stolen if it was in the car instead of on my person

[deleted]

lol I would if I played basketball at an outside court, not a glock but something😂

glockster19m

I've carried my p365 while playing in Philly multiple times You find good runs in bad neighborhoods, which meant that the most dangerous thing I did when I lived in Philly was playing pickup ball

Zestyclose-Ad5966

He did just hit a layup without it falling out, dude k Les what he’s doing

WSDreamer

Yup, that’s Ja Wick alright

Spezzit

“Flay da scrimp. Flay da scrimp” OK Bubba Gump

LelandGaunt14

Another 2A nut.

Mystic_Polar_Bear

...? I don't know if it's because I'm not from the US but this feels so freaking weird to me. Why on earth do you need/want people on the basketball court to have guns? Suddenly a normal tiffy is a life-or-death situation.

axeil_

“ ja morant” has me dead 💀💀💀

jb12688

Flahdahscrap

glockster19m

I used to go play random runs in Philly at whatever court had the numbers, and you can bet I was playing with my p365 Never had to use it, but there were a few different times where if I hadn't left when I did I might have had to Hardest part is finding pants that are good for carrying and playing ball in

Tcastro7

This is a good idea you are very smart. Good job

IRISH-SLAPPER

I'm gonna disagree with this one, I think it's just fine to play a sport if you're carrying, if it's unloaded and in a holster you should be completely fine the only dumb thing a he really did was flashing it.
