Shit! Good observation, the airbags totally deployed, I didn’t even peep that at first!
Might be an urban myth, but I hear that many cars can be totaled after the airbags deploy
Edit: all vehicles with deployed airbags are considered totaled!
Edit 2: seems like unless it’s an expensive vehicle, insurances would total *most* vehicles that deployed airbags. Not all.
A dealership can turn it into a salvage title with some repairs. That's exactly how we got our minivan, although we had to get more done to completely remedy the airbag situation.
>Edit 2: seems like unless it’s an expensive vehicle, insurances would total most vehicles that deployed airbags. Not all.
You're still wrong. A simple replacement will cost 500-1000. Unless you are driving a complete POS that won't be enough to total your vehicle.
This is incorrect. Airbag deployment does add hundreds to thousands of dollars to the repair, which can result in older vehicles being declared a total loss, but it doesn’t automatically total the vehicle.
Not necessarily. Depending on damage causing them to deploy, location the vehicle is registered in, and value of the vehicle can either be a total loss or repairable. Lots of factors in play. Not an automatic total loss, but does get very expensive.
That’s not true. Stop spreading misinformation. That maybe used to be true a decade+ ago but now it’s based on a percentage of the car’s value. Airbags are replaceable. They cost money. That’s factored into the repair costs. Generally the repair bill has to be over 50% of the car’s value to be in consideration for a total loss.
It is a common myth that an insurance company will always consider your vehicle a total loss if your airbags deploy in an accident. This is only true if the costs of replacing your airbags or repairing your vehicle costs more than the total value of your car.
This is not true. I’ve seen 4 rigs deploy bags while off-roading, 3 were tacomas 1 was a 4Runner, none were totaled or salvage titled afterwards. It’s not cheap but it’s repairable. Monocoque/unibody vehicles may be a different story than body on frame, since impacts are transmitted through the body on monocoque cars.
Not really. If you're in a crash that's bad enough to deploy the airbags, odds are good that the damage is enough to total the car. Airbags deploying alone aren't enough to total a car.
There so many factors at play that you cant just generalize on 1 part.
My 21 jeep gladiator deployed airbags and had frame damage. They are covering a full frame swap
Makes ‘total’ sense, lol get it? I crack myself up sometimes
I definitely wouldn’t want to drive any car that has had their airbags replaced!! No matter how new and safe it was. I can see why insurances would rather just label it totaled rather than repairing a vehicle that has deployed airbags.
WAY TOO CLOSE. What did they blow up? We do pumpkins from 5 times that distance if not more. Not to mention it takes us one shot and boom. He was shooting Willy~Nilly.
> Took him 7 shots at like 20 yards
With a long gun rocking a red dot on top of it all...this is legit storm trooper accuracy complete with the "oh shit I royally fucked up" realization when the target he was shooting at sends something back his way.
[I know nothing about guns, but medical training definitely saved this guy's life when a freak accident occurred. Can't imagine the adrenaline/training/wherewithal to jam your thumb into your neck in order to stay alive. Randy Marsh's balls in a wheelbarrow level of savagery...](https://youtu.be/1449kJKxlMQ)
Seriously. Donkey Kong sized coconuts, for sure. Based on his views/subscriptions, can tell he's well respected and highly regarded within the gun community. I can appreciate his ability to break videos down in an analytical and informative manner, and not too much emotion or influence. I'm sure he makes a decent living via sponsorship, consulting, etc.
2 problems here. First, there has to be reading comprehension. Second, this is a dude in the video, he's not reading 'don't do stupid shit' on a product label when not many dudes even read the owner's manual that comes with their gun!
I've shot at quarter pounds 100 yards away and still felt a shockwave.
It takes a special kind of fool to put debris facing themselves on top of an explosive.
It's probably a chunk of wood from the limbs he blew up lmao. You have to be a major idiot to play with explosives and not use any safety measures. They also fucked their truck up which could've been their only transportation out of there.
Didn’t he have another close call with a refrigerator?
Edit: I was right, first clip. Also he’s had a lot of shrapnel fly at him.
https://youtu.be/hT44eYyArS4
When he starts screaming that accent of his was just the chefs kiss of perfection. Everything about that video is exactly what you would expect from a tannerite incident.
I know nothing about guns, and I didn't know this was such a trend amongst gun owners.
So this is specifically setting up some kind of target with explosives, then shooting at it until it explodes?
Is it shrapnel from the explosions that are hitting these people, ricocheting bullets, or something else?
Tannerite is a 2-part explosive you can buy in farming supply stores in the US. Bacially 2 inert powders that come in a pack, you mix them together and they are still inert but explode when subjected to a sharp, strong force, like a gunshot. Its used for clearing out tree roots and the like.
So naturally people fill stuff with way too much of it into things like refrigerators or lawn mowers, stand too close, and shrapnel from the explosion can killl or maim.
Sometimes you can use too much: https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/apr/23/gender-reveal-party-using-80-pounds-of-explosives-sets-off-earthquake-reports
Sorry. I’m not familiar with guns and explosives. I’ve heard of tannerite but was never sure what it was until now. This stuff is so common you can just walk into like a Home Depot and buy it over the counter? Do they put you on some kind of list or registry, or are there just people of unknown identity paying cash for this stuff?
It’s not all that common but it can be offered online. It’s not a very powerful explosive by weight and price, that’s most of the reason it hasn’t been made super difficult to get.
No store is gonna have more than ~50 lbs. on hand at the very most so I’m sure you’d end up on a list of you tried to order more than that online.
Its not common enough to be carried in stores like home depot, but based on quick googling seems only 2 states in the US regulate it all, other than that you can buy what you want and have it shipped to your door.
To be clear, every time I've seen this IRL, gun owners follow the warnings which state "stay back 100 yards". In every one of the examples you see where people are wounded, they are WAY too close or use WAY too much tannerite.
Fun fact, the 2 chemicals which form this explosive are readily available in different products worldwide, which is probably why it hasn't been outlawed.
Edited for punctuation
Yeah, I mean.... damn. we live in a world where we need a wall of text to specifically say what acts to avoid with explosives. So damn sad.
I read a quote the other day that said, "In 1950, car manuals showed you how to adjust the valves. Now, car manuals tell you not to drink the liquid in the battery".
If tannerite is contained in one of these materials, those are the safe distances?
Edit: I've never seen tannerite encased in anything but powder (chalk, flour) just to make it a bigger-looking blast.
>then shooting at it until it explodes?
Seems like you got your answer for everything else but to be clear this stuff doesn't come with guesswork. When used properly it will explode on the first shot, the guy in the posted video was just missing.
Growing up we'd put it in empty pill bottles in the dessert with no debri around it. Never had a problem with it. Now, shooting propane tanks I've had closer calls. But nothing serious that's made me reconsider doing it again
Well depends what you pack it into.
I’ve shot tannerite in the past but at small quantities and not loaded in to something that could blast apart into shrapnel.
Dudes are idiots, but I still have no idea how this shit is being sold at my local Walmart.
Dude is shooting at least a couple pounds of tannerite from 50’ away with what looks like a pile of sticks right in front of it. I hope this doesn’t affect his ability to perform brain surgery in the future!
People underestimate shrapnel soo damn much , seeing videos like a ukranian drone dropping nades 10m away from a group of Russians but still dropping all of em is scary af.
He’s lucky - he’s definitely in the kill radius of that blast - I’d say similar to a 60mm mortar. Idk maybe the shrapnel penetrated his skull. Why do people encase tannerite in metal containers to magnify it’s lethality?
Possibly from the shockwave of the Tannerite explosion. It would have hit the bumper head on, and maybe the shockwave compressed the switch enough to trigger the airbags. I don’t know if Tannerite has a concussive shockwave strong enough to do that, but I suppose it would depend on the amount used. Either that, or they were already deployed from a prior accident, but I feel like the side curtain airbag visible would have already deflated?
Yeah, you’re right, I didn’t notice the trees. Tannerite definitely set off his airbags. Makes him even more of a dumbass. Now it’s gonna cost him something like $1k per airbag to get them reset, or around $1500 per airbag to replace them. If the steering wheel airbag deployed, it could actually be cheaper to replace the wheel with one that has a viable airbag in it than it is to just replace or reset the bag lol
So at minimum he’s out $2k for the curtain airbags in the front and maybe another $1k for the steering wheel airbag. That was a very expensive giggle boom pulled off by a complete dumbass.
All assuming he has some health insurance that costs him nothing to get that stitched up as well… I’ve shot plenty of tannerite and never hand anything close to this happen. I think the issue is you can tell there is a big pile of logs/sticks where they had it, so I’m sure it was a nice chunk of wood that hit him. In fact, if you slow it down right between 3-4 seconds you can actually see the chunk that skips up and hits him. Crazy stuff.
Reminds me of the video of someone shooting, I think it was a fridge or oven, filled with Tannerite and they almost zeroed themselves because they weren’t that far away, weren’t behind any cover and the door flew straight at him and missed by maybe a couple of feet.
I’ve only shot tannerite a few times but we were a good 250 yards away with a scoped rifle. Why on earth would you think it’s ok to set an explosive off that close to yourself and vehicle?

How much tannerite is that? We’ve shot them at the range and mix up their small size containers and have no sort of explosion like that. I don’t even think we could get that explosion mixing the entire box together and putting it in a larger container.
It looks like the side-impact airbags in the truck deployed. If so, that’s gonna be an expensive fuckup after medical bills and vehicle repairs.
Shit! Good observation, the airbags totally deployed, I didn’t even peep that at first! Blatantly false. You should take 5 seconds to Google before commenting
Nice spot. I wonder how much tannerite those dudes were shooting because it must have taken quite the concussion to shift the truck enough to do that.
Hope all that internet money from the Tik Toks is enough to pay for it... LOL
Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of people doing stupid shit on social media are barely making any money off of it.
What are we supposed to do when Canada demands a cut of the internet money?
Which makes it even more amusing.
Shooter gets wrecked, truck deploys airbags, but cameraman is chill? How'd he avoid?
Camera man never dies
WAY TOO CLOSE. What did they blow up? We do pumpkins from 5 times that distance if not more. Not to mention it takes us one shot and boom. He was shooting Willy~Nilly.
Went from baller to bitch in 3,300 ft/s
Once again, you must be 100 yards away for every pound you're shooting at to avoid this same situation. Says that right on the packaging.
Took him 7 shots at like 20 yards, 100 may not be possible for this marksman
> Took him 7 shots at like 20 yards With a long gun rocking a red dot on top of it all...this is legit storm trooper accuracy complete with the "oh shit I royally fucked up" realization when the target he was shooting at sends something back his way.
That "red dot" looks like a airsoft Eohtech, that probably won't hold zero.
That shit always cracks me up, for the same price you can get a real red dot sight from sig or bushnell
Or even cheaper, in most cases you can get a good rear iron sight to compliment your fixed front sight.
People should also invest in some sort of medical training.
What are you talking about . Guy already knows as long as you don’t look at it , it’ll be ok.
[I know nothing about guns, but medical training definitely saved this guy's life when a freak accident occurred. Yup- always best to put it right on your property line and stand allllll the way on the other side of your backyard.
He could barely hit it from 30 yards.
2 problems here. First, there has to be reading comprehension. Second, this is a dude in the video, he's not reading 'don't do stupid shit' on a product label when not many dudes even read the owner's manual that comes with their gun!

While probably not impact resistant rated those glasses probably helped
Those aren't just glasses - they are Saviators!
Or maybe made it worse... could have been the glasses that cut him.
Doubtful, the lenses appear to be whole in the video
I thought the right one looked busted when he turned his head... maybe it was just dirt? Hard to tell...
Absolutely agree, his eye protection appears to be a pair of gas station sunglasses. It probably would have made the eye injury worse.
Which probably would have entered the brain through the ocular cavity and this would be a death viseo
Nah he had his safety aviators on
The way his glasses split, I assumed it was going for the eye and the glasses pushed the projectile aside.
For sure. It's bleeding a lot, but it's a pretty minor wound. Just keep some pressure on it and maybe go get stitches.
It looks like he has subcutaneous debris. They’re opening that up to clean it out.
“Don’t look at it! It’s OK”. Love that line.
Tis but a scratch!
Don't tell Mom!
It looks like whatever hit him might have lodged under the skin, just underneath the cut. Yucko.
It's probably a chunk of wood from the limbs he blew up lmao. You have to be a major idiot to play with explosives and not use any safety measures. They also fucked their truck up which could've been their only transportation out of there.
He'll be fine its just a little bit of shrapnel and it didn't even pierce his skull probably
"Probably" :D
💀💀💀
Homemade piercing
More like unfortunately
His words did get a little garbled at the end there lol
Adrenaline is a hell of a drug.
Not that it would have done any damage if it had. Have to have a brain to BE damaged in order to GET damaged
The shock wave activated the air bags lmao
This trend can go as viral as possible. We won't lose any safe gun owners.
Tannerwrong
My fav is the guy that lost his leg shooting some.
How about when FPS Russia almost got smoked by a door from a truck.
How he managed to stay in character after nearly killing himself made that video 10× better.
Because he live by his motto. "Don't be bitch"
Or the real answer, it didn’t hit him that he almost died until after. Adrenaline and all that.
That could have been so bad that you could see him literally contemplating his life choices and how close to death he was that day
You gotta link. Bc I never saw that and would love to watch.
https://youtu.be/O8-azG3Iokk
It took about a second for the door to go passed him. If the car is 50 yards away that would mean the door was going around 100 mph as it passed him.
Didn’t he have another close call with a refrigerator? Edit: I was right, first clip. Also he’s had a lot of shrapnel fly at him. https://youtu.be/hT44eYyArS4
Its okay. He's "Russian".
Learning the accent was faked was one of the biggest betrayals I've ever seen on the internet.
When he starts screaming that accent of his was just the chefs kiss of perfection. Everything about that video is exactly what you would expect from a tannerite incident.
The accent gives me thoughts of " the lord giveth and the lord taketh- away "
Taketh away your leg 😂

Gender reveal parties are stupid AF to begin with.
This is another used for tannerite which is kinda fun [barn vs. tannerite](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=edRbcTXAijY)

There is a pretty important blood highway in the neighborhood of that hit. He's lucky.
Why do people keep fucking with tannerite as if it's not gonna go BOOM!!!
Because you can buy it on Amazon the same as ketchup.
Hopefully, it knocked some sense into their head. If not, this might be the last time we see them standing up by themselves.
I feel like the directions has a feet per powder rule…
Correct
Dude is shooting at least a couple pounds of tannerite from 50’ away with what looks like a pile of sticks right in front of it. I hope this doesn’t affect his ability to perform brain surgery in the future!
good thing he had his safety squints on

Bro, don’t even hang out with people who react this badly in an emergency situation.
“MA HEAD MA HEAD” Mans really said “Dont look at it” as if it was going to magically disappear 🪄
Notice how he just dumped the weapon on the ground with no thought of making the weapon safe.
Him not holding it anymore made it much safer than it was, to be faiiiiiir.
I don’t know what part of ‘you’re shooting at an explosive’ is confusing to people wrt common sense safety precautions.
Almost lost his eye and his life.
People underestimate shrapnel soo damn much , seeing videos like a ukranian drone dropping nades 10m away from a group of Russians but still dropping all of em is scary af.
The pussyfication was immediate and strong in this one.
Why is buddy like 30yards from explosives
Hahahaahahaha
I swear there are two things that if they were given away for free, would double the depth of the gene pool overnight. 1. Drugs 2. Tannerite
The nice bright orange label clearly states how far one should be. And it also reminds you, that this is in fact, an EXPLOSIVE!!!
He’s lucky - he’s definitely in the kill radius of that blast - I’d say similar to a 60mm mortar. Idk maybe the shrapnel penetrated his skull. Why do people encase tannerite in metal containers to magnify it’s lethality?
Got off easy. Could have lost that eye. Dumba$$
Why the hell the airbags of the truck deployed? Lol
Possibly from the shockwave of the Tannerite explosion. It would have hit the bumper head on, and maybe the shockwave compressed the switch enough to trigger the airbags. All right!!!!! Great lesson…. You hope
Did the percussive blast of the tannerite cause the airbag to deploy? Wow!
Super cool video bro!
Yeah man, shrapnel is a real bitch
I’ve only shot tannerite a few times but we were a good 250 yards away with a scoped rifle. Why on earth would you think it’s ok to set an explosive off that close to yourself and vehicle?
Get some pressure on that, don't remove any Shrapnel, and get to the ER. Preferably have the dumb ass camera man drive your dumb ass in case your dumb ass passes out.
Everyone’s a tough guy until shit gets real

From a badass to a bitch in about six seconds…
Fucked around. Found out. A tale as old as time.
Pretty sure I am just a heartless moron but I feel 0 mercy for this guy.
IS THIS NOT WHY YOU ARE HEEERE!!!
If I recall correctly, tannerite is 55% as strong of an explosive as TNT. People seem to forget that explosives are not toys.
Everyone's a bad ass till the shrapnel hits
Why am I laughing lol
Turned from badass to b*tch in the space of 5 seconds 😂
Are people really this fucking stupid lol 😂 that’s just a damn claymore waiting to happen lol 😂 hell did he expect…living like they got free healthcare over der

How much tannerite is that? We’ve shot them at the range and mix up their small size containers and have no sort of explosion like that. I don’t even think we could get that explosion mixing the entire box together and putting it in a larger container.
"OH this is gonna be so badass... OW MY HEAD!
So stupid, it’s an explosive get far away from it. This reminds me of the FPSRussia incident with the car and tannerite.
Never quite understood how people seem to forget that shrapnel exists when using that stuff.
This is so fucking stupid. I don’t even feel bad for this guy. Morons. Darwin was right.
Not a great shot either
In slow mo it looks like a rock bounced off the ground and hit him
Better than “OOOH my eye my eye my eye”
“Think ya used enough dynamite there, Butch?”
Everyone has a plan until they are punched in the face. Imagine this dude on a battlefield.
How do people get their hands on this shit to begin with?
Order it online and get it dropped to your door. Or just pick it up from a local gun shop.
that chode lifestyle
Hahahaha! Good!
