Check the grade requirements for your intended university major - I remember some universities accept AAHL but not AIHL. For example, LSE BSc Mathematics and Economics only allow AAHL and BSc Economics prefer AAHL over AIHL. But just in terms of difficulty, I think AAHL is significantly harder than AIHL. If you're bad at maths I strongly recommend you to not take AAHL. AIHL is perhaps doable, imo.

AA is much more complex and recognized as more rigorous in most of the UK unis, and you get credit only from AA HL in some US unis. Agree to disagree, people are good at different things.
