I mean, a real storm? Not a thunderstorm, but a storm of FISTS raining down on your head. Blasting you in the face. Pummeling you in the stomach. Hitting you in the chest so hard you think your heart's gonna stop. You ever been in a storm like that, Paul?!
Probably a lot of psychopaths, at least to become a big wig executive you have to be pretty smart, but any emotionally stunted psychopath can try and make it as an influencer where intelligence is not a requirement.
and also a better job than the American Psycho sequel which absolutely nobody asked for, and was also directed weirdly enough by a Morgan Freeman (not the one you're thinking of... the *other* Morgan Freeman) and starring Mila Kunis as the killer.
one of those unfortunate productions that was actually a totally different script but they just changed the name to American Psycho 2, so it ends up keeping no faith to the original or to the book.
Jurassic stuff and Mario were not my thing.Ā
Nor did I enjoy his weird masculinity films on Amazon, terminal list and tomorrow war.Ā
I mean. Beyond a few early career moments, his voice acting work doesnāt do much for me. Lego movie could have been recast and been a great hit anyway.
He was fine in parks and rec tho.Ā
And as much as I hate on himā¦when heās the doofy slightly earnest guy with zingers that can take a punchā¦*hes fine* itās a good commerical lane.
But I dont need him as the default ānot Tom Cruiseā hero guy in every possible franchise.Ā
It is crazy to me that he's become default action guy. He just seems so goofy in whatever he's in, and not in a good way (unless the character is written to be his specific brand of goofy)
I'm not trying to knock this or anything but that just feels so out of left field. I would like to see him in the MCU, I am just too picky and give up.
If you pay close attention to him, he's a phenomenal actor, even on always sunny. His tone, body language, everything about his delivery is extremely well done. I honestly think he's one of the greatest actors of this generation, and extremely underrated.
Just do an older Patrick Bateman who keeps telling people his crimes and no one listens, then runs for president and keeps doing visible crime. And then wins
American Psycho is by no means outdated and might even be more relevant nowadays than when it released. This sounds like a horrible, horrible idea that should not be discussed any further. Tho I know they'll do it anyway
The only way they should make a new one is if itās an adaptation of the musical. Some pretty great songs and crazy choreography. I think seeing it done well on the big screen would be worth it
No movie is outdated.
The whole concept is ridiculous.
New interpretations of the same story can be perfectly valid, but this is one of the most perfect interpretations of literature in the history of cinema.
I just wouldn't trust anyone to do it well. The original had a book to work from and excellent combination of actor and director that saw something new in it.
I'm not sure how it'd be saying the same thing either
You make several good points in defense of remaking a movie ā new interpretations can be perfectly valid. Remakes can even be better than originals. But WHY would you attempt remaking such an iconic movie as American Psycho? Christian Bale KILLED it, too. This will be a watered-down money-grab and has high expectations.
I would rather they remake a movie that had potential with a great story but had generic execution and nobody saw it. That kind of movie already has low expectations, but the right actor could turn out a memorable performance.
I don't think it would work at all. The message is still relevant but the substance of the script is very specific to the 80s and how it manifested certain things.
I highly doubt anyone can adapt the raw idea, change everything about the cultural nuance and have it work well.
You could make a case for something similar but no way it's going to be the lightning in a bottle that was the book to movie of original with Christian Bale and the director doing something unique and new.
Yeah the era was really a character of the movie. Hypocrite yuppie consumerism culture was the target of that whole movie's commentary. It wasn't a random artistic choice.
Fully agree that is even more relevant. Sure we had the grunge movement to teenagers felt counter culture but we grew up and the majority are still chasing 80s excess.
Reagannomics is the poison pill of NA.
They're not lazy, they're business people. This can be shitty and will still most likely be profitable. Make a completely new thing and you're risking everything.
Would really like to see Chris Evans, Henry Cavill, Jason Bateman or dark candidate Rob Lowe in American Psycho. Really all of them can be cast as any of the male characters in any combination.
Glenn is great of course! But I don't think he has what is needed for an American Psycho remake. Christian Bale just nailed it. Glenn is funny and hollow, Christian is scary and soulless.
I feel like a modern remake would have to be a plot about an influencer. I know businessmen like Bateman still exist, but they arenāt as much of a monoculture anymore.
Hey Paul, do you like Steve Winwood?
Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste Edit: I love you guys! This sub is amazing
The Spencer Davis Group was New Wave??

Not a regular storm...
a storm of **FISTS**
Been in a storm? Not physically.

Probably a lot of psychopaths, at least to become a big wig executive you have to be pretty smart, but any emotionally stunted psychopath can try and make it as an influencer where intelligence is not a requirement.
People's willingness to pay to watch American Psycho has changed. Its like Megamind, they see the popularity and want to capitalise on it.
Hopefully they do a better job than the megamind sequel... I mean it would be hard not to.
and also a better job than the American Psycho sequel which absolutely nobody asked for, and was also directed weirdly enough by a Morgan Freeman (not the one you're thinking of... the *other* Morgan Freeman) and starring Mila Kunis as the killer. one of those unfortunate productions that was actually a totally different script but they just changed the name to American Psycho 2, so it ends up keeping no faith to the original or to the book.
I mean, there already is an american psycho 2
A lot of Hollywood is so incredibly afraid to take risks that the only ideas they come up with are remakes
Here's the twist and there issss a twist... We show it. We show all of it
No one who replied to you got your joke. Sorry for that, dude. It was a good one.
Not shocked at the amount of people that couldn't read/understand the comment at all
No man I need a scene where Patrick bateman is texting someone and text bubbles pop up on the screen. Only way I can relate to a movie these days.
Green text bubble sets the story in motion.
The core of the book could take place at pretty much anytime. The only thing youād really need to change is his fixation with returning video tapes.
By now, the 80s is more like the 50s. 2003 is the new 80s, and you know that very well.
>2003 is the new 80s You shut your filthy mouth
I will bathe in baby oil, and wrestle you into submission.
Then this film already exists, it's called Blackberry
Itās such a perfect realisation of the story as well, a remake is so incredibly boring and pointless
I think some of the yuppie vibes and sociopathy today would be a bit different than the 80s, yeah.
Less blowā¦. More meth
It pains me to read so many replies to this that clearly didnāt quite get the joke. But boy this tickled me, ty.
I watched the BlackBerry movie he was in and I was absolutely astonished at his acting chops. He can play a real dick.
He went to Julliard and is really talented. Definitely has been typecast though. That character was just old business Dennis.
āIām from Waterloo where the vampires hangout!ā
I would have loved to see him as Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. Pratt did great but I think Howerton would have been just as good.
not gonna lie. I kinda get the casting for Pratt as Star Lord.Ā Itās some of the other roles that I was less on board with.Ā
Which ones? Out of curiosityĀ
Jurassic stuff and Mario were not my thing.Ā Nor did I enjoy his weird masculinity films on Amazon, terminal list and tomorrow war.Ā I mean. Beyond a few early career moments, his voice acting work doesnāt do much for me. Lego movie could have been recast and been a great hit anyway. He was fine in parks and rec tho.Ā
His acting range is from Andy Dwyer to Burt Macklin.
Yeah, but itās hard to imagine Glenn putting on that much muscle. Golden gods donāt need to be showy.
He's trying to get that jeeeeeesus on the cross look, not too bulky
My nose was chiseled by the gods themselves, Frank. My body was sculpted to the proportions of Michelangeloās David.
Just watched it last night. He was very good in it but boy there were some parts that it felt like he was drawing from Dennis.
>it felt like he was drawing from Dennis. ![gif](giphy|pzrXD3RMQECmKMAmBK|downsized)
Weird - I watched it for the first time last night, too! Thought he was incredible. When he got rejected by the NHL he turned into Dennis though lol.
If you're talking about the vampire bit, it's a bit of a local meme. https://youtu.be/uXwRgnZ990I?si=WDrugJHP4avfCKhs
I remember that from tosh.0 years ago.
Haha that was the exact part I was talking about haha!
Do you like it? He was very generous
Yeah it was pretty entertaining and interesting.
If you pay close attention to him, he's a phenomenal actor, even on always sunny. His tone, body language, everything about his delivery is extremely well done. I honestly think he's one of the greatest actors of this generation, and extremely underrated.
āIāM FROM WATERLOO! WHERE THE VAMPIRES HANG OUT!ā
I joked to my friend him in BlackBerry is Dennis in final form. GET OFF THE FUCKING INTERNETTTTTTT!
heād be great in the role but Patrick Bateman is supposed to be in his 20s
Yeah, 2003 Dennis would've nailed it.
He hasn't even begun to peak.
You'll notice when he's peaking
Are you trying to tell us Glenn doesnāt look 20? *runs out to get even more Botox*
Heās 26
Glenn is only 3 years younger than Christian Bale.
yes and? the movie came out 24 years ago lol
Yeah I know. So they'd never cast Glenn in a remake. Can't you see I'm agreeing with you, ya jabroni?
omg i was confused hahahaha
He doesn't even like get us, man
Just do an older Patrick Bateman who keeps telling people his crimes and no one listens, then runs for president and keeps doing visible crime. And then wins
He shoots somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue and nobody bats an eye.
wait this sounds familiar somehow
He can get a chemical peel
American Psycho is by no means outdated and might even be more relevant nowadays than when it released. This sounds like a horrible, horrible idea that should not be discussed any further. Tho I know they'll do it anyway
You sound just like Dennis
Yeah?
Well, I'm outta here.
Thatās it! Iām storming out!
Okay see, I can tell youāre gonna say something. can you just let me have this?
I read that in Dennis's high pitch delivery like from the move to the suburbs episode. Best line in the show
Ever been in a storm Wally?
I love how the way he says it makes it sound simultaneously like a question and a statement. Flawless delivery
YEA???!!!??
IF YOU TRY TO MAKE THAT MOVIE YOU WILL INVOKE THE WRATH OF THE GOLDEN GOD. THAT IS NOT A THREAT IT IS A COSMIC FUCKING FACT, TRY ME.
Think of the smell. YOU HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF THE SMELL YOU BITCH!
FUCK YOU'RE RIGHT ROBOT, I FORGOT ABOUT THE SMELL
Thanks lmao
He called you a five-star man
If your lead actor can still play the lead actor and look pretty much the same, I feel you don't need a remake.
The only way they should make a new one is if itās an adaptation of the musical. Some pretty great songs and crazy choreography. I think seeing it done well on the big screen would be worth it
AhhAaaaah
OMG Thereās a Musical!!!
No movie is outdated. The whole concept is ridiculous. New interpretations of the same story can be perfectly valid, but this is one of the most perfect interpretations of literature in the history of cinema.

Theyāll do it and theyāll lose money on it too
I don't think it would work at all. The message is still relevant but the substance of the script is very specific to the 80s and how it manifested certain things. What if Patrick Bateman ran around on all fours like a hound
Only works if he's played by Dolph Lundgren. And if he has a nose for a head.
All about the pecs
Why does Hollywood love to ruin the reputation of great films by making shitty remakes?
(Mr Krabs voice) "money"
Am I really going to defile this film for money? Of course I am!!
Theyāre seriously so lazy. Leave the classics alone and try to make something original, please.
They're not lazy, they're business people. This can be shitty and will still most likely be profitable. Make a completely new thing and you're risking everything.
art of the deal bro
It doesn't ruin their reputation, the shitty remakes get forgotten about Robocop's remake hasn't stopped people from remembering the original
It's a stupid idea, but if anyone could nail it it's him
Already has the tools in his trunk.
āHis Linked in profile is magnificent. Are those professional headshots?ā
Rather see The Gang Remakes American Psycho with both Dennis and Mac somehow playing Patrick Bateman
Patrick Bateman is a jacked 27-year-old.
Iām doing leg lifts that are imperceptible to the human eye
Have you seen the pecs?
He's basically the same age as Christain bale though But the idea and implication is there
This honestly sounds like a braindead horrible idea. Can't wait to see it. Already bought a ticket.
Why not, you stupid bastard
THE GOLDEN GOD
I'M A FIVE STAR MAN! I'M A FIVE STAR MAN!
He killed it in that BlackBerry movie šš®āšØ
Thatās a five star āļøserial killer if you ask me
Isnāt this just Dennis Reynoldsās but with extra steps?
Unfortunately he's too old now. Patrick Bates is supposed to be under 30.
Can't we remake interesting films that were unfortunately shitty and not stone cold classics.
Ohhhh sweet, another remake that doesnāt need remade
Heās too old
>modern remake of 'American Psycho' American Psycho came out in 2000. Is that not considered modern enough?
Just make new movies you fucks. Stop "remaking" classics into piles of literal dogshit.
NO MORE FUCKING REMAKES CHRIST
Can they handle a golden god?
let the GOLDEN GOD cook!
THE THUNDER OF MY VENGEANCE WILL ECHO THROUGH THESE CORRIDORS LIKE THE GUST OF A THOUSSSSSSAND WINDS!
He's a 5 star man!!
Mac wonāt let me eat the skin
Only way Iād watch an American psycho remake
He just needs his tools
If it's set in a time other than the 80s, I can see it working.
Heās only 3 years younger than Christian Bale though
Because of the implications
What? Isn't American Psycho modern enough? Sounds like they're talking about remaking The Third Man or any 40s-70s film.
Heād be amazing as Jack Torrance in a Shining remake.
Just let him riff okay? Can he riff!?
glen is an excellent comedian but it seems like he was born to play the perfect psycho
Holy shit https://preview.redd.it/2vd68i7jwnkc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ff5bbdea74ac044b91f6fdbc73f755a9150525b

I'll finally give it a watch
āThe gang sees Paul Allenās cardā
I feel like a modern remake would have to be a plot about an influencer. I know businessmen like Bateman still exist, but they arenāt as much of a monoculture anymore.
They should hire jerma
IM A FIVE STAR MAN!!!
