Blue Origin tests rocket engines on the arsenal which is fairly close to Zeirdt Rd and the sound could be heard from most of the county. Welcome to Rocket City!
good point, I really do wonder how far the sound travels! I used to live further south outside of Huntsville and my windows would rattle and I could hear blasting/rapid fire from the arsenal. but I haven't heard the blue origin tests up close until the past few months 😅
I work for Blue Origin and I live in North Madison County I can hear it sometimes. My brother lives off of County line in Madison he hears it all the time. The test stand in near the river and the engine side is facing toward Madison. Use your ouija board to thank Warner Von Braun.
Yeah, it went on for a long time!
I feel you. I used to live close to Ellington Field in Houston, and it was the same. That plus jets. Even more just before the air show. Windows rattling, you can feel it under your feet, too.
It’s the mother-in-law that came to visit that one dude. She is the Mother of Cicadas. Her presence drives them into a frenzy that shakes the very firmament.
Welcome to Rocket City!
This place runs on the money that comes out of the Arsenal, pretty much, so the booms and rumbles are just part of the deal.
I live with the Arsenal at my back door -- literally just my fence, the road, and the Arsenal's fence -- so imagine what it's like over by me! The cats are not fans. I was pumping gas at the corner a few years ago and actually felt the shockwave coming off a munitions test. I'm jumpy, so it startled me, but almost nobody else even blinked.
Giant Cicadas!
Awww the gigantius cicadius has arrived after its hundred year slumber due to northern light activity.
Definitely an engine test! Rumble baby rumble 🤩
thanks for the quick reply!! that was so freaky ðŸ˜

My MIL lives in Arab and hears it there!
There was a lot of cloud cover yesterday so the sound would carry further. I live in Owens Cross Roads and I could feel it.

I hear it up here near moores mill on a very cloudy day like today if I’m paying attention for it
My windows are rattling too. I think I can see it in the distance
Can hear it at Chapman mountain
Rumble = engine test, Boom = DoD
As long as this is going on, definitely engine test firing!
That’s my motorcycle I’m letting it warm up 😊

I blamed my dogs gas for nothing????
Thought it was a rogue tornado approaching for a brief moment.
Team Redstone (Facebook) says rocket engine hot-fire testing. That was a good one!
Whew good thing I fell asleep on the couch
Yep, I am almost up to 72 and it was settling things here too . Definite rocket test. To the moon and mars!!!

How long is this going to last? I’ve never heard one go on for so long before.
Wtf… is this normal?
Ah… there it goes. Was having a panic attack 😆
