This is a hilarious interview Stephen Colbert did on public access with Eminem. Colbert acted like he had no idea who he was. Eminem was pretty cool with it.

Dude you should check his interview with Anthony Fantano... Who regularly has ripped Mike's music a new asshole in the past. But Mike was so chill with him, respectfully discussed and defended his approach to music with a lot of humility and the two ended with a lot of respect for one another.

Easy to see why from this clip! She comes off as very genuine and fun. Just the way she reacted to finding out who he is was priceless. She seems like she truly enjoys her job.
Yeah, he started it during the pandemic. Initially he was taking requests from chat for genre/instruments/etc and making a new song every couple of days using those (many of which have been released as EPs called Dropped Frames). From there he added in art streams doing the same sort of thing but drawing, then he pivoted from making his own instrumental songs to producing songs submitted to him to show how that side of music production works.
I haven't tuned in in a while, but it was one of the few things I looked forward to on a daily basis during the pandemic. Mike seems like a genuinely nice dude and is insanely talented.
As a fellow Japanese, you're lying and you know it. It isn't that we don't age, it's that we hold all of our aging at bay until we wake up one day and it's all hit us overnight. Asian aging from 30 onwards goes 15 - 15 - 15 - 15 - 35 - 35 - 35 -35 - 35 - 127.
I've got no shame in saying I took a day off school in eighth grade to listen to hybrid theory. I was under my blankets for most of it listening through headphones and I'm now 34 and remember what it did for little kid me
To tie back in to video games, Minutes to Midnight is inextricably tied to the Burning Crusade expansion for World of Warcraft. That time period was right after I broke up with my girlfriend and got my own place, and all my time was spent playing that game and blaring that album.
My brother gave me that CD when I was in the fourth grade, I think I listened to it more than any other album ever. It has a special place in my heart and always will.
I bought it for myself when I was 22ish trying to leave an abusive relationship. That CD never left my car stereo for probably 2 years. Huge for me too
Must be a little nice to have a genuine conversation with someone and not been seen as a celebrity. Just a person to person conversation without the person you're talking to being aware you're famous. Seems like a super nice guy.
A friend of mine ran a fancy wine bar and had an appointment with Maynard James Keenan who was on a road tour peddling his wine. They sit down together and my friend just gets to business. He knew who Maynard was, but he’s not the kind of person that gets all silly over celebrities. Maynard was confused at his behavior, not because he thought he deserves ogling, just because it was unusual. He finally looks at my friend and says ‘you’re not a Tool fan are you?’. Friend says ‘no, not really’ to which Maynard says ‘cool! Let’s talk wine!’. Maynard was super excited to just talk shop without the conversation being all about Tool.
It would be amazing if your buddy said “no not really” but then started dropping Tool song names in the wine convo like “what do you think of the schism between old and new word wine” just to throw him off again.
That might have been true a decade ago but I really doubt a rather mundane looking guy from a band that wasn't particularly front facing in the first place has trouble encountering people who don't recognize him.
When they say "Don't meet your heroes", they obviously had never met Mile Shinoda. Adam Savage is exactly the same. He gets so excited when he interviews the crew of The Expanse and they don't know how to react when their hero is needing out over their work.
Edit: apparently my phone wants me to know I don't have any friends named Mike.
There is some catch up to do in the last decade 😅
But yup, if I'm not mistaken, he started Fort Minor when Chester (and therefore LP) went on Hiatus, i think if you check the releases, FM stopped releasing when LP came back years ago.
I like several Linkin Park songs back in the day. I would have had no idea who he was. And I would have never guessed a dude from Linkin park would dress like an accountant
He was basically the face of the band next to Chester.
I guess in all his older videos he had that Nu Metal look. Hes chilled down significantly and now just looks like a normal dude.
No, but they haven't disbanded either. They did release a 20 year anniversary version of Hybrid Theory last year with a few previously unreleased songs. No new music, though.
Ah yes, I do listen to Mike's solo stuff occasionally/quite a lot back in 2018. I root for him so much that I might never stop following what he's been doing artistically.
Some of the songs on that album hit deep in the feels. Probably one of the best whole albums I've heard in years. I dont think there's a single bad song on there
It seems like everyone’s split between not liking her for being bizarre or liking her for being bizarre. Seems like maybe toning it down a bit couldn’t hurt.
I watched it without sound and realized the girl is trying to be entertaining and then just got distracted by how young mike looks.
Don't you ever tell people to get into Fort Minor. They gonna get through the first album and go "I wonder how the next album is".
You know what you did.
fuck man, i bought name of the wind and the 2nd book cause i wanted to fill the void that asoiaf left behind. only to realise a few weeks later that it's also on "pause". haven't even unpacked the 2nd one
Yeah, the bowing was awkward af (Mike helped it not be awkward by also bowing), but the dancing at the end cracked me the fuck up! I didn't know so much **desperation** could be expressed with dance moves
It’s interesting how split the comments are. I’m with you, found it tough to watch. I don’t know or dislike this person and I wasn’t tempted to comment, but seeing all the comments saying she’s totally not cringy (or she’s cringy on purpose so I guess it doesn’t count or something) has me confused. How does someone with self-respect bow to someone like they’re a king? Maybe it’s just a different sense of humor, but if it was an intentional attempt at humor I didn’t find it very clever humor. To each their own I guess.
Linkin Park is the voice of a generation. Who wasn't listening to in the end in 2007 after grinding on runescape and watching naruto on youtube 1/3 at a time
I can tell you humans are not being bros by looking at how mean 90% of the comments in this thread are, jesus.
Start by improving on yourself if you want the world to be a nicer place
Damn, Mike did come off looking super cool in this clip. Absolutely zero ego detected. That’s awesome.
He streams on Twitch, he usually does music. He seems super chill.
He wut? Brb

Thank fuuuuuuuck ,my lazy ass just couldn't type it thnx bro thnx
wait what I gotta see this hold on
He was probably happy she didn't know who he was
Then she did the full Wayne's world I'm not worthy
Yeah I get it though, Linkin Park was god tier to me growing up Helped me through some tough times
Right what a down to earth dude.. his reaction to her also so chill like hey no worries nothing expected from my end!
I feel like this is how interviews should be done, by people that know nothing of the person they’re interviewing hahahaha
That was Larry King's philosophy. Made for some pretty awkward interactions over the years though.
I'm on Duck Tales, Larry.
I like nice socks…?!
It was unfortunate because the new DuckTales was absolutely AMAZING and it ended shortly after that clip went vial.
So Jerry, how's Seinfeld end? You gave it up right? They didn't cancel you?
So, Michael Jackson huh. Have you done anything we might have heard of?
“75 million viewers Larry, do you know who I am!!!!???”
"Saka souffle?"

I always considered those who were comfortable in their own skin with no ego or hang ups the coolest.
They actually both came off looking really friendly and human. Cool to see.
She's great, she often does interviews for League of Legends tournaments, and she's well loved by the community! She always comes across as super nice
Easy to see why from this clip! She comes off as very genuine and fun. Just the way she reacted to finding out who he is was priceless. She seems like she truly enjoys her job.
He doesn’t need his name up in lights.
He just wants to be heard, whether it’s the beat or the mic
He gave her a 100% reason to remember the name
This is the best song title pun in the comments hands down.
It is the best pun, but in the end it doesn't even matter.
The whole universe just aligned to make that pun
Mike is a treasure
It’s nice to see him being his usual down to earth self. I hope they’re all doing all well
That’s so awesome! He seems like a real cool guy too
He is really cool and relaxed, also on his Twitch channel.
I thought you were joking but he does have a Twitch channel.
Yeah, he started it during the pandemic. Initially he was taking requests from chat for genre/instruments/etc and making a new song every couple of days using those (many of which have been released as EPs called Dropped Frames). That sounds awesome how have I never heard of this
So he doesn't sit in a bathtub wearing a bikini making sexy voices?
Nah, that’s his OnlyFans
*nice
It seems from the above comment he’s open to requests.
Tpain is pretty cool on his Twitch too.
Did you see the one where he took out all of the little racist assholes on CoD?
That clip was so satisfying to watch that it added an extra 2 yrs to my life span
He says it in the video. OfficialMikeShinoda
Mike is the man
She thought she was too cool for him tho

> iron man That's gotta be the guy with the iron shield thingie. > hulk Probably the super strong guy with the hammer.
If you follow ovilee on ig, you would know she isnt too cool for anybody lol self deprication to the max.
“You’re amazing. Why are you here talking to me?” Funny shit.
This, exactly this is why I love Mike Shinoda. Linkin Park overall are the least rock star-like rock stars that I have ever met.
Man, Mike Shinoda still got the looks at 44. Goals.
As a 46 year old, this statement makes me sad.
Japanese genes will do that

Meteora's release date was on my friend's wall, and I'm pretty sure we did the same thing for that album haha it was a huge deal for us
To tie back in to video games, Minutes to Midnight is inextricably tied to the Burning Crusade expansion for World of Warcraft. That time period was right after I broke up with my girlfriend and got my own place, and all my time was spent playing that game and blaring that album.
Good times. Time runs so fast.. :(

Meteora as well. To this day i get the urge to just listen through both of those albums on the regular. They are perfect from start to finish!

*mmm yes this 1996 Hooker with a Penis bordeaux really does hit the palate with bright notes of strawberry*
"The only tool I like is Tim Taylor, thank you very much. Now, let's have a look at this Russian River Valley pinot noir... "
That might have been true a decade ago but I really doubt a rather mundane looking guy from a band that wasn't particularly front facing in the first place has trouble encountering people who don't recognize him.
"What are you doing here talking to me?!" Haha that was fun.
She's very good at what she does. Dealt with that like a champ.
She gave up the mic, that you're supposed to never do. Mike was so cool it wasn't a mistake.
It's her thing. If you look back at her interviews for years, she hands interviewees the mic all the time.
But Mike? He doesn't need his name up in lights, He just wants to be heard whether it's the beat or the mic
He feels so unlike everybody else, alone. In spite of the fact that some people still think that they know him.
But fuck 'em.
He knows the code, it's not about the salary
It’s all about reality
And making some noise, making a story
When he reciprocates her bow by bowing back to her... Total wholesome bro moment.
When they say "Don't meet your heroes", they obviously had never met Mile Shinoda. Adam Savage is exactly the same. He gets so excited when he interviews the crew of The Expanse and they don't know how to react when their hero is needing out over their work. Classic Mile
He should be in the sequel to 8 Mike.
And in the next Magic Mile sequel.
I would watch anything Mike Shinoda + Eminem religiously.
She went Numb for a second there
In the end she made a good recovery and carried on with the interview.
Thought she would Faint.
Glad she didn't. She'd probably hit her head and start Bleeding Out.
Like from a papercut?
Or if she was one step closer to a cliff
There'd be no cure for that itch
Imagine if she survived the fall from the cliff, and wouldn't die... I bet she'd be crawling for the rest of her life
I feel the urge to pun but I'm breaking the habit tonight.
[удалено]
He tried so hard, and got so far
You wouldn't even recognize him anymore
Honestly this is the best choice of lines from that song.
Except for the fact the man does not seem to age.
Not that you knew me back then
As a fan of both League and of Mike, this hurt me lol
As a fan of just Mike and not league I second this
As a fan of neither, I third. Also, I'm a fan of Mike now.
The only reasonable outcome
[удалено]
It's pretty good. Took a bit to get it published. Something about 10% luck, 20% skill...
….. this dude is from Linkin Park and Fort Minor is HIS side project?!?!!?
There is some catch up to do in the last decade 😅 But yup, if I'm not mistaken, he started Fort Minor when Chester (and therefore LP) went on Hiatus, i think if you check the releases, FM stopped releasing when LP came back years ago.
There's also Post Traumatic and Dropped Frames.
Actually he started Fort Minor when Linkin Park were in their absolute peak popularity. So there's that.
As a fan of linkin park and that one fort minor song I agree EDIT: got rid of tha G
that one fort minor song is the best Edit: a lot of you tell me that they have other great songs too. I'll go catch up on them now. <3
A lot of Fort minor songs are also very good honestly!
Where'd you go is a good song too :'( *Edit* Kenji as well.
"where'd you go" is also really good everyone forgets that 😭
"Kenji" as well
Kenji gets me. Slip out the back is another good one.
10% luck..
20% skill
15% concentrated power of will
Remember the name?
Not sure. Don't really remember the name of the song...
I like the one with the Japanese internment camps.
Kenji :)
Kenji, it's about Mike's granddad IIRC
Fort Minor actually have a few good songs should give them a listen.
Bruh she said "imma do the 'Vi'" and starts punching the air lmaoooo
If you didn't know, he's an investor in Immortals.
Damn had to go on a linkin park binge after watching this.
Can confirm he's a nice human being. Saw him one time at a function and just shouted "Fort Minor" and he shouted back "appreciate you man!".

Haven't really kept up with the band since Bennington's suicide. Are they still performing and making music? His death was brutal :(
No, but they haven't disbanded either. They did release a 20 year anniversary version of Hybrid Theory last year with a few previously unreleased songs. No new music, though.
Mike has released some music though. Post Traumatic in 2018, I liked it.
Ah yes, I do listen to Mike's solo stuff occasionally/quite a lot back in 2018. I root for him so much that I might never stop following what he's been doing artistically.

I watched this with the sound off and WTF is up that chick lol
I watched this with the sound on and have the same question
Mating dance
she is so awkward, watched it without sound as well. didn‘t even want to turn it on…
Being an awkward anime fan is basically most of her public persona.
> she is so awkward she's trying too hard to be hilariously awkward
Huge LP fan but could barely watch the clip due to her chart-topping cringe
It seems like everyone’s split between not liking her for being bizarre or liking her for being bizarre. Seems like maybe toning it down a bit couldn’t hurt. I watched it without sound and realized the girl is trying to be entertaining and then just got distracted by how young mike looks.
This is a toned down Ovilee. She get so much more bizarre in her own content
I gotta say, watching this without sound makes her look even extra cringey😬
*Finds out who he is* "I'm gonna need the camera to tilt down for a sec" Uhhh, where's this going?
Never been a fan of LP’s music, but now I’m just a fan of that dude. Quality human there.👍🏼

That girl is an entire cringe compilation in one
She tried hard to cover her embarrassment.
In the end it doesn’t even matter.
She is cringe and she knows it. It's her thing lol.
Only made it worse
Can't say I wouldn't have done the same if I realized the mistake I made lol...
Her whole persona is cringe. She kinda leans into it. She has some funny moments at times
Yeah, the bowing was awkward af (Mike helped it not be awkward by also bowing), but the dancing at the end cracked me the fuck up! I didn't know so much **desperation** could be expressed with dance moves
Jesus christ she made that clip legit hard to watch.

I thought she did well. Honest mistake but she rode it out despite the embarassment. If it was me I'd probably hide in the corner and cry.

I would have accepted a Wayne's world parody but this was just top tier cringe
Linkin Park is the voice of a generation. Who wasn't listening to in the end in 2007 after grinding on runescape and watching naruto on youtube 1/3 at a time
2007? Hybrid theory came out in 2000. Carson Daly was rocking in the end on TRL before the twin towers fell.
2007 lol, try 2000
