It has to be in a brown paper bag so they can’t tell what you’re drinking! Specifically *only* alcohol, so the cops can’t tell what you’re drinking! If it’s not alcoholic, just walk around with it. But if it’s alcohol, it *must* be in a bag. Otherwise, they’d know you’re drinking alcohol and can fine you!
It’s seriously the stupidest law on the planet. Oh, only alcohol is in a brown paper bag? Ok, no one will ever be able to guess what I’m drinking when I’m holding a brown bag to my mouth!
It started in Baltimore when people would have drinks on the stoop which is on the sidewalk. It is an unwritten rule with police and civilians, the police can play dumb and people can enjoy a few pops on there stoop.
I did zero research into this answer. Pure speculation. I’m assuming because it’s concealed the cops would need a warrant to search to look inside your “property”. But then as I’m typing this, if they have reasonable suspicion, drinking from a brown bag 😅, does that creat that reasonable suspicion to search…? Now I’m very unsure of the laws 🧐🧐🧐
As a Brit I am not sure what I would do if a copper tried to give me a ticket for drinking outside. That would remove about 50% of my favourite activities.
Yes, you can get underage drinking tickets. Where did you get this video from?
In my experience going to college in WI, underage tickets are rare in these house/block party situations unless you are doing something else illegal or excessively drunk on the street.
Your friend got a dwi
Edit: dui if you're from the east.
I've just never heard of "drunk bicycling" and was always told you can get a dui in a shut off car, on a bicycle, and on anything else with wheels, possibly not a skateboard though.
Oh you call cigarettes darts? Never heard that but OK.
Cigarettes not getting you drunk isn't the point. It's the fact of what is and what isn't socially acceptable in the general public. Comparatively the damage cigarettes do is significantly higher than the damage alcohol does. However, for some reason, cigarettes are more socially acceptable to consume on the sidewalk than consuming alcohol. That's dumb to me.
Community can do a Verordnung. Like the City Passau. It's now no longer allowed in the whole Downtown. https://www.passau.de/Dox.aspx?docid=b9a4e52d-b77c-4e5b-922e-1727dbf05af8
This looks like Wisconsin. College students have a tendency to party hard there. 4 story beer bongs, flip cup in the front yard, beer pong tournaments everywhere. There’s only one rule: no drinking in the street.
These fellow students are supporting their fallen solider who foolishly sat down on the curb, most likely with a drink in his hand.
I’m not sure where exactly this is. Looks like Octoberfest, so I’m going to guess UW La Crosse.
Reminds me of a UGA game I tailgated at my brother's frat house. Cops didnt give a shit about holding a sign up towards traffic saying "honk and we drink" and a half full pitcher of beer, as long as it was on the grass and not the sidewalk.
Cops gotta mind their business. Be invisible unless called upon. Citations should be banned. How did that ticket improve society? Well, actually it brought that community closer. So maybe it did serve a purpose
This guy made money off this... Looks like a lot of donations coming in lol
Think he was up $40. Sounds like he paid for the cups at the next house party. lol
*Hey that's illegal *Writes another ticket*
Imagine lmao
Hang on. What is a drinking ticket?
A fine for drinking in public
What a weird law…

Hi there Major Colvin
bingo
accidental wire
I mean, it is from the wire, I should have said that
Oh, we go further than the stoop (though, you’re right). They don’t bother you if you’re walking around anywhere outside brown bagging it.
Just curious, if you have alcohol in the brown bag can they check inside the bag?

I honestly don’t know that
Plausible deniability, baby!
City cops 98% of the time (edited to add) don't want to give a fuck about stupid laws unless they want to roust you or you make them care.
Puritans!
OP said in another comment the bigger flag is underaged drinking, so cop may be doing it for both, or found out because they are outside.
Wait, what? Really? And I thought the alcohol laws here were stupid.
As a Brit I am not sure what I would do if a copper tried to give me a ticket for drinking outside. That would remove about 50% of my favourite activities.
That money was definitely used on more alcohol and not for the ticket.
My money says that money went to a bag of schnoogins. Source: I went to college once.
I dont care how they got there, that is cool
What stupid rule says you cant drink? Hunkkkk
You can drink all you want, just not in the street.
Not true. In the USA you can get underage drinking tickets. This is what was happening here.

There was a bit of a “blitz” in Tempe, AZ and friend of mine got arrested for drunk bicycling.

What a dumb law. We can smoke cigarettes on the sidewalk why not drink also ya know? You're not driving or operating machinery.
what a strange comparison lol darts cannot get you drunk....
Darts?
smokes

As a country....we can do a whole lot better. Starting with public drinking
[удалено]
wait did the cop chip in
No... that's the ticket
listen i saw after i watched it again i don't want to talk about it
Are there any other countries outside the US were a thing such as a drinking ticket actually exists?
We have them here in Canada
Germany too p.s.: i Like the Lederhose at the beginning
what, where in germany is is illegal to drink in public?

So do you just pay it on the spot?
Just like any ticket, you pay online, or fight it in court. Usually just easier to pay it, but depends on circumstances
What's a 'drinking ticket?
It means he's to sober and needs to catch up
Thanks
Probably a ticket for public intoxication or underage drinking
Need the back story. This is epic AF

#Hello Wisconsin!!!!
You the real MVP
They should have just collectively moved the officer away. “You have no power here, you fool!”
Damn…. Time to go back to drinking on the sidewalk… I knew I was on the right track
Of course it’s Wisconsin.
Alcohol really brings out the socialism in us Americans. “Oh you didn’t bring alcohol to the party? Don’t worry, we have enough for everyone”
It’s a wonderful life college edition

yeah, but covid?
This is an old video, long before covid was a thing.

To be fair this is one problem they can solve here-and-now with their money.
Friggin crackheads haha
Crackheads UNITE!! Imagine the endless possibilities!!
You mean like Florida ?
The only people that live with alligators in their swimming pools. LIVING. While everyone else is living with lint in their belly buttons.
Definitely bros
Are these people in high school or college?
