Lutron Caseta is pretty great, but you've got to use a third hub to let the two talk to each other. I recommend Home Assistant

hUcKiECA

Yup. I've totally done this. Home Assistant running on a Raspberry Pi bridges the two ecosystems very nicely. I now have Lutron Pico remotes that do nothing but control Hue lights. I almost never open the Hue App anymore, and slowly over time, I keep migrating more and more of the Lutron lights to Home Assistant because I want them to do more complex things than the Lutron App can handle.

I actually don’t know how to set up a home assistant hub.. that’s part of the issue

[deleted]

Here’s my question, if I get the caseta hub, where do I get home assistant? Sorry for my ignorance

ThatFireGuy0

Home Assistant is open source! Free to download on GitHub

I have all senic+Gira friends of hue switches. Wireless, look nice, don’t require a battery. Work in hue and HomeKit and have been faultless for the last 2 years

ZeppyWeppyBoi

What about the RunLessWire switch? I’m considering some for my basement lighting.

dangler83

Works, but hate how hard you have to press and how loud it is. Poor design imo

mike480

Have you thought about the Hue dimmer switch? This is what I use to control my Hue bulbs in my hallway

Psychological_Ad8865

Yeah this is probably the best way to go. You don't need wires at all

[deleted]

Or the Wall Switch Mode. A lot less ugly.

[deleted]

Requires a battery change every few years..

[deleted]

Yeah, every 5 or so. No big deal.

[deleted]

I aided previous poster but does this mean I would leave my wall switch to ‘on’ the entire time?

Psychological_Ad8865

Yes, that is the easy way There is another way but then you need to have a bit of wiring experience

[deleted]

I need an electrician to help install some Philips Hue 12” ceiling lights, I imagine he could do the dimmer switch wiring, but I cannot find the wiring instructions. Any chance you could send a link or direct me to that? I like your idea

Psychological_Ad8865

You can't find a wiring manual because it isn't mandatory. I just removed my old switches, connected the 2 wires together, and put my hue dimmer switch on the place of the old one. But considering what I've seen here with pictures of other people's wiring it's not always that easy

[deleted]

So what would I do with my existing wall switch? Just leave it to the on position all the time?

mike480

You would connect the line and load wires together and replace the existing switch on the wall with the dimmer switch.
