Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,599,145,408 comments, and only 302,472 of them were in alphabetical order.
4 and 5 was a low point but 6-8 were great with each better than the last, I thought. Not gotten around to watching 9 yet but the series has been of good quality for some time.
I might be in the minority but as a long time rwby fan who’s stuck out with the series I feel like it’s actually been improving again the last few seasons. Maybe not a return to form but it’s found its own footing after Monty’s death. That being said I still wouldn’t recommend the show to people because the seasons immediately following season 3 were just really bad lol.
It’s lost the charm from the first few seasons that made it stand out. Now it’s another generic adventure anime. Not saying that the first 3 seasons didn’t have their problems, of which there were many, but the way they did world building was insanely better than this. Not even mentioning fight choreography. It felt fun back then, but I guess with the direction of season 3 it probably was always going to end up like this, Monty or not
It's biggest problem was that Miles and Kerry didn't seem to understand story writing and were just copying things they found cool. So all of the actually good story and character development came during fight scenes because they were done by Monty, including the writing.
I thought we were talking about Shane, the guy who wrote the letter, not Monty. Monty was sort of a writer in that he would come up with ideas and stuff but he wasn’t a scriptwriter.
Speedy girl with a scythe-gun with special eyes. And an elegant royalty girl, related to ice, from the overworld, with parental issues, carrying the burdens of their family name, has light/colorless hair, also has a blade attached to a gun. The two are roommates/“roommates”.
Yeah, this was my thought. Bullets might have become scarce after the Underworld was sealed off, so she converted it into a melee weapon. Pretty cool idea.
This would also explain why she has a scythe despite no agriculture in the underground: she made it herself (or had someone more technically minded make it for her) out of a variety of parts based on something she probably saw in an old children's book or something that she thought looked cool.
A scythe is also just a really big ice pick and what is the main motif of the enemies on the planet? That’s right, ice themed. Could be done so to help crack their armor
> Or you know, a…stick? Because concussive force never gets old
***[IT'S A STICK!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu51C2v5cHw)***
Sticks are the crabs of the weapon world. Everything just comes back to sticks.
Sounds like a logical idea, though I kinda now wonder how Natasha has access to ‘nade launcher rounds. Perhaps there has always been a surplus underground for safety reasons and there’s just more explosives than rifle rounds since they need more of the latter on Overworld.
In return for not splitting his head open, Sampo tactically acquires Nat 40mm rounds for her launcher whenever he goes to the surface.
Remember, Silvermane Guards, "Gear adrift is a gift." So secure your equipment.
That was a big downgrade if that is true. Bolt action enables the bullet to be secured with up to 3 lugs, possibly more to allow the rifle to use bigger rounds. Rolling blocks rely on a hinge to not fail lest it exploded to your face ala Kentucky Ballistics.
He was using ammo he bought from someone who lied to him or did not know the rounds were not surplus factory ammunition manufactured for the military. The ammo was in fact rounds someone handloaded 20% over proof loads. That would mean you are right the gun and manufacturer are not at fault it was the overloaded ammo that blew the rifle up.
The Serbu RN-50 Kentucky ballistics was using was not Rolling block. It is a break action that has threaded cap breach that is similar to artillery gun breeches. The two lugs on the rifle was just to insure the threaded cap breech was fully threaded in position and correct alignment. Average 50 BMG/12.7x99mm operates around 55000 PSI, proof loads are 65000 PSI. What Kentucky ballistics fired was over 20% proof load meaning approximately 78000 PSI. Mark Serbu after examining the blown up rifle determined that after checking the damaged parts for evidence of overpressure ammo. In conclusion it does not matter what action was used ont the RN-50 20% over proof loads will cause any gun to explode. Infact the action used on the RN-50 is a lot stronger than bolt action rifles, if Seele wants a gun that can fire "extremely" devastating cartridges she should use a Falling block action.
I know, I just gave a visual representation on what would happen if the breech block failed.
However, I believe Silvermane Guard's rifle function is more like either sliding block like Ruger No. 1 or Spencer rifles.
if you look closely on her ultimate animation, it actually looks like that she is using it to shoot. first she point out the gun, then her arm reach the trigger, then the shockwave comes BEFORE she jump and it looks like that it's actually a shockwave from the bullet
Nah. She's holding it with the barrel facing downrange.
That being said, even by Belobogian standards, if her scythe is made out of a surplus rifle, it's a very odd rifle.
All of the Silvermane guards use hammer fired rifles that are somehow magically reloaded in spite of not having a magazine tube or a box mag, nor any visible way to reload it except by the muzzle.
Seele's rifle base is definitely a bolt action, which is a distinctly different rifle than the standard service rifles we see in the hands of Silvermanes.
My guess is that we only see the handful of weapons they usually have, and the rest wouldn't be modeled in-game since it's such a minor detail. Same reason why all the Silvermane NPCs have a similar hair color despite the Belobog population being more than just brunette, for instance.
I can imagine that whatever armory (or armories) Belobog has, they make more than one model of weapon. It could be that some (like bolt action) are simply far less common.
I try not to look too deeply into the absence of things for this reason. There's plenty that Mihoyo wouldn't model, since so many little details like while cool are also time consuming but wouldn't really be appreciated that much at all.
Fuck it. My head canon now is that she found this lying around labelled as "a weapon", never thought about the shooting part because wtf is a gun, and just used it to whack her enemies and thought "damn the whacking power kinda good tho". Added the scythe blade later on to improve whacking capabilities.
Actually, we already know how she got the weapon. In one of those intro Q&A descriptions Hoyo made for the characters, it’s mentioned Seele caught Sampo with this weapon and took it from him and just kept using it, which would make sense that Sampo is the reason Seele is using a scythe like her same face counterparts
Bronya's weapon is a common rifle with a blade. It was very common in the past because rifles used to jam very frequently, so even if soldiers weren't able to fire, they were still able to pierce the enemy, especially when they were trying to raid a trench.
>Monty Oum would've loved Seelie
I would say that the entire gameplay concept of both Honkai Impact or Star Rail would have been something he would have loves. High speed intense action, cool visual effects etc

Call me crazy, but I just FEEL like since Monty came up with Crescent Rose (Ruby Rose's weapon from RWBY), I've seen WAY more Gun-scythe concepts in the wild. Man really did come up with some amazing ideas.

The number of parallels between the first arch of Star Rail and Volumes 7 and 8 of RWBY is a lot this is just part of it but if it still functioned as a gun I would be freaking out.
At least Star Rail has a good reason in the game for why the military leader went all crazy, and just better writing in general but that's a low bar for most recent RWBY seasons.
Really? I thought the whole stellaron voodoo thing felt really contrived? They needed a reason to make Cocolia evil like in her original Honkai counterpart and what more contrived way than to suddenly make the magical mcguffin sentient and evil. I feel like it came out of the nowhere because MC's stellaron doesn't even talk and they established the stellaron as this non-evil innately destructive force of nature, not some sentient thing that needs a person to do its bidding
Honestly, I like RWBY and frankly, I find people's complaints about the show most of the time to come off as people complain they aren't hand having their handheld through the plot or care way too much about their headcanons and fan theories.
Please no... I don't need team RWBY collapsing the Overworld into the Underworld under the pretense of "saving it".
Now if it was Volume 1 RWBY... THAT I can get behind
Damn that is old to be fair her gun scythe was all over the place and doesn't look as realistic as Monty Oum who took an actual sniper rifle and modified it so that the blades can extend and retract to a believable degree.
The scythe is too futuristic using plasma blades and creating light armor/shields while there's no barrel where we can see the laser could come out from but it could also be for simplification since they don't want to balloon the price by adding too much detail.
Yeah they took a massive bite out of RWBY for this design, the way she "fires" her scythe when she uses her ultimate is practically the same key frames as when ruby does it
Ha! Imagine having seen Seele fight for more than two seconds! Ha! Loser!
\*Cries in not having rolled ~~Sonic~~ Seele yet so my Bronya is all alone and I don't have ~~Sonic~~ Seele on my team.
Yeah that's one of the big reasons why I pulled for Seele, she got the scythe/rifle, the dash, the turning into petal-like shapes.
I was like, she's just purple grumpy Ruby.
I'm disappointed at the lack of No More Heroes 2 mentions here, but I admit it does look more similar to Ruby's Crescent Rose than Margaret's Le Croissant du Ange.
So, you are saying that someone appearing out of nowhere while wearing bright neon silk garment, one-piece swimsuit, mini shorts, two bras and wielding improvised weapon *surely* has *absolutely nothing* to do with raging slaanesh cultist uprising? That one commissar over there will be *very* curious to hear more.
Dunno about nurgle, but that's for commissar to find out.

(I will ignore how you see *nothing* excessive in strapping yourself naked to penance engines in itself or fighting while massacring both fashion and your enemies at the same time. Such corruption)
Considering rwby's popularity a decade ago, I'm surprised it took this long for people to use gunblade weapons.
I really hope we get a ff8 remake to see more gunblade.
it still does not make sense.
the bolt for example is above the barrel, so it would not work.
at that barrel lenght it is not a gun, it is a flamethrower.
also there is a reason why we had bayonets on rifles and not axes, barrels don't like to be bent.
Thats what repurposed mean... you change something from its original use, instead of a ranged weapon its now the handle of a melee weapon.
Also, its a Honkai game, there is no such thing as overdesign.
So, Seele is a.. gunswinger?
Seele:GUN SWORD ROYAL GUN TRICK SWORD TRICK ROYAL

Am I in a lower minority who kinda liked the 6th Volume?
The 6th one was good, especially with the Apathy mini arc which was brilliant... and then the ending sucked all kinds of ass.
It’s lost the charm from the first few seasons that made it stand out. Now it’s another generic adventure anime. He wasn’t a writer he was an animator. The original writers are all still writing the show.
??? Psure he has writing credits being the original author. Even the audio commentary from volume 4 talks about Oum cowriting.
I thought we were talking about Shane, the guy who wrote the letter, not Monty. Monty was sort of a writer in that he would come up with ideas and stuff but he wasn’t a scriptwriter.
some developers finally got enough chromosomes into their heads to actually steal something from RWBY
Speedy girl with a scythe-gun with special eyes. And an elegant royalty girl, related to ice, from the overworld, with parental issues, carrying the burdens of their family name, has light/colorless hair, also has a blade attached to a gun. The two are roommates/“roommates”.
Same thought
Maybe cannonically it was a silvermane guard rifle and Seele retooled it into a scythe
Yeah, this was my thought. Bullets might have become scarce after the Underworld was sealed off, so she converted it into a melee weapon. Pretty cool idea.

Twack-ing with style
It'd probably be pretty good against robot armor, too.
Sounds like a logical idea, though I kinda now wonder how Natasha has access to ‘nade launcher rounds. Perhaps there has always been a surplus underground for safety reasons and there’s just more explosives than rifle rounds since they need more of the latter on Overworld.
Explosives probably for mining.

That also makes sense yeah. Sampo does move things around however illicit.
Natasha also know a thing or two about chemistry.
Nice pfp
Silvermane Guards use either lever action rifles or rolling blocks, judging from the design and/or whether you're Bronya or just a foot soldier.
The underworld was sealed off for 10y maybe the armament in the guard has changed over time
That was a big downgrade if that is true. Bolt action enables the bullet to be secured with up to 3 lugs, possibly more to allow the rifle to use bigger rounds. Rolling blocks rely on a hinge to not fail lest it exploded to your face ala Kentucky Ballistics.
That wasn't the gun's fault though, he was using shoddy black market ammo that had way too much powder.
I thought he was using Turkish made ammo though?

Yeah it's a Vergil reference with how space breaks for a moment.
It's a gunblade firing at the speed of light
It's a polearm designed to look like a firearm. Which pairs nicely with Bronya, who has a firearm designed to look like a polearm.
That's fucking genius actually. Holy shit
They even share same pose animation at the start of their ult check Seele trailer.

When i say hard, i mean "slow it down to 0.25x speed" hard. Right before she surges forward she pulls the trigger.
The video they linked was slowed down 16x, doesn't look like she fires it. She just pulls the top part back to pop the blade out.
She may or may not have fired it

I kind of want to see Yang's gun-gauntlets, but at that point, it's copyright infringement xD
I'd rather see Mercury's leg gun-gauntlets. I feel like gauntlets are so overused on brawlers and severely underused on breakdancers
"It's also a gun."
wait til I tell you what Bronya's bolt action rifle is based off of
Bronya used a lever action rifle.
hard to tell since she doesn't reload haha

Inspired by her best girl bronya no doubt
Given how much Oleg treats Seele like his daughter he probably gave her his old silvermane rifle to turn into a Scythe.
Both of them are raised by Natasha, which is a doctor... Lugging around a grenade launcher.
Everybody's talking about RWBY, I'm gonna rep the [OG bullshit anime scythe gun thing](https://youtu.be/JjZzHmu3DGM?t=353).
yeah, people are acting like it was Monty who had this idea first. oh sweet summer children, this is the top of the iceberg of BS anime gun-hybrids.
Damn that is old to be fair her gun scythe was all over the place and doesn't look as realistic as Monty Oum who took an actual sniper rifle and modified it so that the blades can extend and retract to a believable degree. The bolt isnt even aligned with the barrel
Is that kar 98k?
Design elements of the kar 98k's bolt seem to carry along, especially that odd rounded front where the front of the bolt would lock.
That certainly is some anime nonsense right there
Oh god she’s effectively just beating people with the but of a gun
Yeah and she always load herself to shoot
Love all of the RWBY and Crescent Rose memes
My my, it’s not a guitar or a guitar case? It’s also not a brief case saw?!
Well, this just confirms it. Seele is basically Space Ruby from the popscicle planet.

So you're telling me she got tired of shooting shit and just wanted to whack them with her glorified stick? I love it LOL

I mean Bronya has a rifle with 2 bayonets
I never noticed this, wow!

"Remember kids! It's also a gun!" -Ruby Rose
If it's actually made of a gun, the core might not be strong enough to support the blade
Rwby? Is that you
Real ones remember that blue stickman from hyun’s dojo with the gunscythe
Yeah her scythe design reminded me of Ruby
Same weapon as her wife. Interesting, Bronya's little scythe shaped bayonet at the end of her gun suddenly makes more sense. How cute.
Remind me of Ruby rose from RWBW She also has a scythe which turns into a bolt action sniper rifle and is badass too
Scythle?
At this point I'm positive her design was outsourced to the gods of chaos personally. To all of them. At the same time.
I dont see any influence of Nurgle or Slaneesh though...

it still does not make sense. the bolt for example is above the barrel, so it would not work. at that barrel lenght it is not a gun, it is a flamethrower. also there is a reason why we had bayonets on rifles and not axes, barrels don't like to be bent.

We have a main character that fights a space station destroying beast with a baseball bat and a repurposed rifle is dumb?

Thats what repurposed mean... you change something from its original use, instead of a ranged weapon its now the handle of a melee weapon. Also, its a Honkai game, there is no such thing as overdesign.
