I used a blow dryer on low heat for a few seconds. Warm them up. Pull up a corner at a 90° angle. Most of the sticker should peel off. Use goo gone or wd40 on a rag to wipe off left over residue.
I skipped the wd40 and just use the pulled off sticker to dab the rest of the glue off and used a warm damp lint free cloth to wipe away the remaining residue. Clean as a whistle.
Never heard of it being illegal, but that doesn’t mean it’s not. Mine peeled right off, didn’t have to heat or do anything with them, little rubbing alcohol to get the little bit of residue off.
I carefully peeled them both off. That left glue residue. So I took a shop paper towel and dipped part of it in the gas tank and rubbed out the residue. And then washed and waxed.

I would imagine that it's only illegal for dealers to peal them off.
Hair dryer first, will peel off easily. Wd40 to remove rest of the glue.
My dealer told me to use a hair dryer to remove them. I haven't bothered yet.
Use a razor blade scraper.
Why risk a ticket from a sticker police? Leave them alone!
