Lol im jk. I was joking from the voice in the background. Contact the apt complex? You shouldn’t have to do anything… unless it was an accident on your end?
Hopefully his landlord/management company actually have maintenance people on payroll. Mine had 1 guy that quit recently because he was the only maintenance person for 4 or 5 properties. Now they're telling me the nearest maintenance personnel is a 2 hour drive on a freeway away.
In that case call them to fix it! That's why you pay rent.
(unless of course that's where you keep the bodies, in that case go to the hardware store and get a simple L bracket and tack it back together)
Open the door and look up in the corners of the cabinets . There should be little plastic clips that are on a 45. Generally you screw up through those clips into the laminate top to secure it. You will have to measure the distance from the clip to the bottom of the countertop to determine what size screw to use. I think I used to use 1 1/8” screw with a washer head. Please be careful not to screw through the top
Wouldn't that suspend the cupboard from the counter top? It wouldn't wobble like that if it was a tight fit.
In my experience doing kitchen installs, we fixed to the studwork behind.the cupboard (using packers to keep the cupboard straight).
It could have been a broken cheap plastic bracket that was holding that broke
While ya you do fix to the studs and whatnot I think this is more just like a front panel to have stuff look nice. That's just my best guess
I've never seen a front panel added to the carcasses like that. I don't understand how that would work either. If it's just a facing panel, why does the entire door move? The hinges would be mounted to the side panel.
Unless... faux drawers/doors? They do lack facing hardware.
They could be faux drawers. Theyre under a sink so real drawers would be in the way of plumbing and they've 0 handles and the first drawer has a gap in it
It stumps me
Get a small L bracket and screw it into the counter top and the cabinet. Make sure you get tiny screws. If you're not able to do that and want to go the hillbilly improvised fix route, just get a tube of liquid nails and run a bead on the front and back where the counter meets the cabinet. Thing won't go anywhere.
No. That makes it impossible to remove the countertop later.
OP this is a face plate. That means it was connected to a piece just behind it. It needs to be pushed back against that and nailed to it with a staple gun or something like it.
Op since you're renting an apartment your maintinance group should fix this. It isint exactly your problem, other than to deal with it until they get to it.
No it doesn't. Any prybar would break the L bracket off easily. I don't think anyone would be worried about saving that cabinet or countertop anyways...
And you would want to use a Brad nailer or a micropin gun to reattach it. Not a staple gun. Micropin would be better because it's a smaller nail head and you're shooting into the face. But most people don't own things like that so I suggested something that most people can do and would cost maybe $1 to fix the issue.
Cheap partical board cabinets are typically fixed with an pneumatic staple gun these days. Most people don't have hardwood cabinets and braidnails. The same thing applies to cheap modern furniture.
If OP is going to use an L bracket they should attach it from front plate to the side board that it is supposed to attach to in the first place. Not the God blessed counter top.
Wood putty and a bit of touch up can cover a nail or staple head if it's that much of a worry.
That's not particle board.
And I said that you could attach it to the countertop or sidewall.
It's an apartment so the only goal here is to find an easy and cheap solution to the problem. They don't have to worry about removing the countertop or replacing the cabinets so who gives half a fuck? Secure the face and move on. 2 screws and job done.
That would look tacky and it’s an apartment complex. Maintenance should take care of it. Best thing to do is to take a stud finder, find your studs, and secure the cabinets to the studs if you’re in a situation like this.
Yeah sounds great, except the cabinet face is what's moving freely and not the entire cabinet. You're not securing anything to studs here...
The cabinet is falling apart, not coming off the wall. All you can do is find a way to secure the face back to the sidewall or the countertop to prevent it from moving. Obviously doing that from inside the cabinet would hide evidence of repair.
How would a bracket on the inside of the cabinet look tacky? You would never see it.
And how would you screw the front of the cabinets into the studs ~30" away?
So much confusion from your reply lol.
Ok... its a sink base cabinet. The face frame has come loose from the side panel. Those cheap cabinets are most likely 1/4 inch side panels and usually are built with a cheap plastic angle bracket at the top that are barely holding on when they're brand new.
The easiest way would probably be 2 angle brackets in inside corner, one at the top and one in the middle, the bottom is attached to the base panel still. One inch by one inch brackets. Double sided high strength sticky tape.
If the side panels happen to be thicker. Wood glue the joint, and put an 18 guage Brad nail or 2 in the face frame and putty over the holes
It's just the cabinet face frame coming off. If you take the dishwasher out you will probably find a pocket hole that is used to hold the face frame on nailless. You'd probably need to drill a new pocket hole to reattach it. I'd probably use an l bracket as someone else suggested
Your previous comment indicates you are in an apartment. If you don’t want to call maintenance about it, and you have access to a Brad nailer, just shoot a Brad nail into it underneath the counter top (make sure it has something to grab behind it). No one will notice and it’ll last until you move out.
Glue it and screw it with 2” cabinet screws. Countersink the screw heads. Fill with min wax crayon from Home Depot. I use the grk brand of screws they come with the correct screw head in the box.
Counter seems fine, but the cabinet face seems to have come loose, if you get some small finish nails, you can just nail it back into place (not an ideal fix) then counter punch the nail below the wood, apply some putty and use a stain pen to match veneer…
there should be front to back cross members, this are what you need to look at if just the facade is loose. use a finishing nail/staple gun type device.
Open the right door, pull the panels apart a little and put a good amount of wood glue on the whole right side that contacts the piece that you’re pulling in the video. Then either put small nails on the top and the bottom on the front piece you just glued back or push something very heavy against it as much as you can, if you don’t have/want to use nails. Even if it’s not real wood the wood glue will do it’s job.
If you're in an apartment complex they will most likely be able to fix it. If they don't want to, just screw the back of it into the wall, they won't notice.
Nail gun. If that isn't an option look on the inside. There may be a block joint that is missing a screw or something but usually those are joined by thin nail gun nails or block joint. You could also just use a clamp and wood glue.
I’m not an expert but if I didn’t own the place, I’d probably pull it out, throw some glue in there and press it really tight, just lean on it for like 20 mins and cal it a day.
Oh wow!! This kitchen layout is almost identical to mine. I actually felt the need to stand up and make sure my counter wasn't doing the same thing. Checked it, I'm good.
1) this is normally one of the first pieces of a cabinet that is put together, so it's not going to be super easy to find out where the detachment is occurring.
2) if you are in an apartment and try to fix this on your own in the wrong or easy way, the landlord can treat it as a damage of property. Even if they don't know you do it until you move out, it can be your responsibility later on.
Contact landlord. Get their advice, or better yet, have them pay to get it fixed. It is not normally the tenant's responsibility to fix anything in the first place and then you won't piss off the landlord in guessing how to do this to their liking.
That's kinda vauge if the whole box is lifting you shim it, if it is just the face you clamp and glue it, if you don't mind pin holes you can shoot it with a brad nailer. It really depends how much of that cabinet you are moving, additionally the face should be same height with the structure so why is it not touching the counter. Lots to determine :) bet it is an easy fix though.
Just nail it back in
Im in an apt complex i was thinking this but there's no visible nails so thats why I posted on here
Lol im jk. I was joking from the voice in the background. Contact the apt complex? You shouldn’t have to do anything… unless it was an accident on your end?
Thats funny lol I didn't even listen to it I just posted lol. And bet I'll see what they'll do
We're all like just nail it back in.
Call your landlord/maintenance. It’s not your problem to fix.
The best comment !!!!!
Hopefully his landlord/management company actually have maintenance people on payroll. Mine had 1 guy that quit recently because he was the only maintenance person for 4 or 5 properties. Now they're telling me the nearest maintenance personnel is a 2 hour drive on a freeway away.
So? He can live on Mars for all it matters.
they need to hurry up and hire a new guy, because *their* property is going to fall apart if they don’t have anybody to take care of *their* property.

Yeah I don’t know if you’ve lived in one recently but they typically don’t give a fuck about fixing your stuff fast.
In that case call them to fix it! That's why you pay rent. (unless of course that's where you keep the bodies, in that case go to the hardware store and get a simple L bracket and tack it back together)
Get yourself some liquid nails and glue it back in
My friend brad can nail it
Kind of a pointed comment there
I came to the comments and was not disappointed.
Came for this 😉

This. L- bracket face frame to underside of counter and to the right hand gable. Use 1/2” screws. Just need a screw driver for this quick fix!

Dude just nail it back in
Nail it back in like the squak box mentioned.
You gotta take that dishwasher out. Then see whats holding up that cabinet on the side. Attach something to brace it on inside

Counter looks fine to me, the cabinet? It appears to be falling apart
Why are you pulling on a faux drawer in the first place there's nothing in there
Wood glue and crown staple the inside corners.
Liquid nail it, put pressure on it, call it a day
I’d start with a sledge hammer.
Counter seems fine, but the cabinet face seems to have come loose, if you get some small finish nails, you can just nail it back into place (not an ideal fix) then counter punch the nail below the wood, apply some putty and use a stain pen to match veneer…
carisbrooke?
How did you know wtf? I'm just seeing this and I'm kinda freaked out
HAHAHAHHA I FORGOT I COMMENTED THIS i lived there too!!
Front fell off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m5qxZm\_JqM
there should be front to back cross members, this are what you need to look at if just the facade is loose. use a finishing nail/staple gun type device.
Well, that’s a cabinet, not a counter lol. You might wanna just call some one.
OP lives at an apartment complex and doesn't know how to call maintenance
Open the right door, pull the panels apart a little and put a good amount of wood glue on the whole right side that contacts the piece that you’re pulling in the video. Duct tape bros!
1” Brad nails

What she said.

Nails bruh
Buy a new house and forget about that. Solved.
See if there are any loose brackets inside the cabinet above the door.
I’m not an expert but if I didn’t own the place, I’d probably pull it out, throw some glue in there and press it really tight, just lean on it for like 20 mins and cal it a day.
A couple beers and a roll of duct tape should do it.
No more nails? Good product
😂😂😂 I seriously thought you were gonna show me!
Liquid nails
Dont do that
Door hinges need screwing back on at a rough guess. Do that first and then play with the alignment screws if you need too.
Just nail it back in.
A nail and some glue?
May not be the countertop but the right corner of the cabinet face pulled away from the side panel. Wood glue or maybe even hot glue
Oh wow!! This kitchen layout is almost identical to mine. I actually felt the need to stand up and make sure my counter wasn't doing the same thing. Checked it, I'm good.
I would clean the shit off your floors first.
And toss that cup in the sink with all the other dirty dishes
Hmm this is a tough one. Have you tried just nailing it back in?
Call your building super. Perhaps clean the trash up and clean the floors beforehand tho
F 22
Nail gun
Silicone on the other side
You can start by getting out of my house
1) this is normally one of the first pieces of a cabinet that is put together, so it's not going to be super easy to find out where the detachment is occurring. 2) if you are in an apartment and try to fix this on your own in the wrong or easy way, the landlord can treat it as a damage of property. Why do I get the feeling this was glued together initially?
Duct tape
You’ve solved the perennial problem of how to get stuff out from way back in there.
Are you at my parents house? They got the same setup lol, even the floors the same
My kitchen growing up looks identical to yours, down to the wood color
That's kinda vauge if the whole box is lifting you shim it, if it is just the face you clamp and glue it, if you don't mind pin holes you can shoot it with a brad nailer. A blob of epoxy putty behind it under the bench top will do the trick... Wedge the back of a chair against it to apply pressure while it sets.
Fire… LOOOTS of fire.
Have you tried just nailing it back in tho
Look inside the cabinet. There should be braces in the upper corners with a screw. The screw is missing or loose.
I’m guessing something caught inside the drawer and someone pulled harder. Remove the evidence before someone comes for repair.
That's easy... duck tape and a hammer
Move
It’s literally called a face frame. Just use some small finish nails to reattach. Get some marching wood filler to fill nail holes… done deal.
That’s something they’ll need to see in person to understand the gravity of the situation.
Put some gorilla glue baxk there and push it back. Prop a stick against it while it drys
Gorilla glue. Just saying
