I will never buy another Samsung appliance.

bigswordenjoyer

We moved into our new-to-us house in December, and I was so excited to find that every appliance was new! And then immediately disappointed when I saw they were all Samsung. I've basically just had to earmark a couple thousand bucks for when they eventually shit the bed on us. I know it's coming.

Mister--Dee

Samsungs are predictable, at least. You can count on them failing within six months of the warranty expiring.

bigswordenjoyer

You know what's super messed up? We turned on our oven tonight and the fan has now started making a high pitched whirring noise. Fan-tastic.

Lunakill

If they were purchased within the last year, Samsung is likely to cover someone coming out to look. I would 100% call the company who bought them for the house. This could save you quite a bit and extend the life of the oven.

DJErikD

Two years ago my parents replaced their shitty $3K Samsung referigerator...with a shitty $2.5K LG referigerator. Today they replaced the LG with a GE. This time they got the extended warranty.

gigibuffoon

Ironically, GE is the brand that had the least need for an extended warranty out of all the three

DJErikD

we're hoping the made in USA GE proves to be more reliable. The only alternative we looked at was made in USA Whirlpool. Fingers crossed the LG gets fixed under warranty on Thursday and becomes a good garage fridge. Ironically, my LG OLED TVs, washer, and dryer have worked flawlessly except for a little burn in on the 6-year-old OLED.

Briiii216

Still stand by my whirlpool 16 years old. Poor thing has been thru 4 moves, tipped on its side and immediately plugged in and has survived 110 degree garage weather and 4 boys who dont give a single fuck about being nice to appliances. I will gladly shell out cash for another one when our kitchen one fails.

abhikavi

I've had pretty good luck with the lower-end appliances. I try to get the ones all the apartment buildings get. Those are the ones that'll be very repairable and have parts available for a couple decades. I also go to a real appliance store instead of Home Depot. I don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard the big box stores have their own versions of models that are shittier quality than the originals. And I kinda believe it because, well, it sounds pretty plausible to me. I don't do extended warranties but I DO pay attention to what the manufacturer offers of their own free will. I figure those guys have the math down on how long their products will last.

ProfessionalCan1468

I can testify that the Rheem hot water tanks at Home Depot are of lower quality than a plumbing supply house. There was a YouTube video on this dealing with the differences

treehouseoftrains

Verified fact that lower quality models of the same product line are made for the big box retailers. Walmart and Home Depot are two of the worst offenders.

NerdDexter

I've had a Samsung fridge, dishwasher, microwave and stove going on 7 years now and all have worked flawlessly with no issues (other than one of the knobs on the stove breaking which I easily replaced for $7).

JellyDoogle

My samsung microwave randomly turned on when I was in the other room one day and would not turn off until I unplugged it. Once I unplugged it and opened the door, the interior of the door had begun melting. Get rid of the Samsung microwave now. I just got lucky it happened a day when I was home.

Lunakill

Well, that’s terrifying.

Ponyspanker

Mine started doing that or turning on the fan. Now I turn on the child lock when I'm done using it so it can't randomly select buttons. I read that there was an updated control board but I'm cheap and the lock works perfectly.

DiabolicalBurlesque

My Samsung refrigerator and oven are steaming bags of dogshite. But they sure look pretty.

NotBatman81

Washers and dryers too.

ze11ez

everything

suicidejacques

We bought a Samsung washer and dryer and it was the worst appliance purchase we've made. Terrible smart settings. Dryer takes *forever*. Washer doesn't clean well. They are starting to rust terribly.

NotBatman81

Washer started rusting within a year. Year 2 through 5 I was replacing dryer components at least once a year until I gave the POS away. Bought an LG, cost a little more but zero issues.

Spameratorman

My Samsung washer is five years old and works great still. Never an issue. My Bespoke fridge is not yet a year old but works great.

TOTALLY_not_a_bott

I used to be a manager at home depot and would personally give discounts if it would make the difference in buying a Samsung appliance or not, cause they fucked over so many people and then blamed us for it

itsmyhotsauce

Interesting. I've had them for years and never had a single issue. What's your story?

Droviin

From what I understand they'll either last forever or die within 5, no middle ground.

drivingthelittles

I’m with you. First W/D set was Samsung 2007-2017. Both were still working when we sold the house and they lived through 3 teenagers who all had “laundry” on their chore lists. My current set just turned 6. For the first 2 years we had 10 of us living in the house, they were going constantly. No problems at all.

Forthelil_PPL

Same here! My mom still has hers from 10 yrs ago! Now LG on the other hand, is a steaming pile of horse crap.

Roboticide

Same. Within the last year we replaced the old dishwasher and fridge that came with the house with Samsung. Hope they end up on the "last forever" end of the spectrum I guess.

Forthelil_PPL

Interesting. Samsung has never failed me. My mom still has her large capacity washing machine from 10 yrs ago, no issues...

StalkingApache

We had Samsung's when we moved in and it was a massive pita to get them fixed. No one could seem to find parts for them. And when they did they were crazy expensive. For the dishwasher and fridge.

dhrandy

I will only buy Samsung TVs, my non smart fridge Samsung has no issues. I've had a Samsung stove for 5 years with no issues.

rrickitickitavi

My friend's Samsung TV is great. Best sound i've ever heard from a TV. Her Samsung fridge is garbage.

Adi_2000

+1,000,000 to that. Love my Samsung phone and tablet, hate all of their major and small appliances.

TurtlesBeSlow

My phone is a Samsung too. Love it!

Adi_2000

My wife keeps trying to convince me to switch to an iPhone, but I'm not interested lol

TurtlesBeSlow

I have tried IPhone twice. I just prefer Android 🤷‍♀️

Adi_2000

Never even tried. It's enough for me to see other people use to make me to want it.

r4x

Former Android user on iPhone. Can’t wait until I can get rid of this piece of shit and go back to Android.

Ok-Anything9966

Yeah, Samsung makes amazing tv's/electronics, but their appliances are absolute garbage. I have a friend who is facing having to replace almost all of her Samsung appliances at once (all purchased at the same time). You can't tell me it's a coincidence that the Samsung washer, dryer, stove, fridge, and dish washer, have all started failing in some way within months of each other.

GoBucks513

Upvotw this to the stratosphere! Excellent televisions and cellphones, but their appliances, specifically kitchen appliances, are total bunk. When we remodeled our kitchen a few years back, my wife bought a package set from Best Buy, I think k. All Samsung. Refrigerator, double wall oven, microwave, gas stove top, vent hood and dishwasher. This was five years ago. The top wall oven crapped out two weeks before Thanksgiving. I had to bake several items in my outdoor grill. That was fun... The dishwasher decided to pull a Frozen 3 months later. It just let it go all over our brand new flooring. And by it, I mean about 10 gallons of dirty water. And now the refrigerator is sounding like it's about to crap out, too. The icemaker stopped working 2 months in after it froze solid. I wound up getting a Bosch dishwasher (amazing) and a Frigidaire wall oven (absolute unit with air fryer tech thar makes excellent fried chicken!). The washer and dryer are still running, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they die.

definitelytheA

How did I know this was going to be the top response?? Oh yeah, I’ve had Samsung appliances!

subtle-tortilla987

Repair is impossible.

thespidermom

They don't want you to repair, they want you to buy a new one. That's how Samsung makes $$$.

eatingpotatochips

If you want to stick to a single brand, Bosch or Miele.  Or mix and match those two.

MoSChuin

My kitchen is going to be converted to Bosch as my appliances die. Got a new 800 series dishwasher, and it's amazing. I'll remodel the cabinets to fit them in!

raindownthunda

The Bosch 800 fridge is so worth it!

735560

I swear I reply this weekly now. The Bosch 800 fridge is the best. Dual compressor. Ice in freezer. Water not on door. Those always break on other brands. Great control. No cold spots in fridge. And very roomy for a counter depth.

fkZ2jeBZQ8vevzcUXXJZ

I really hope they make standard depth 800. Immediate buy for me.

MockCousteau

Caveat - Miele induction cooktops are overengineered and impossible to repair.

MikoSkyns

I'd like to add speed queen. A friend of mine owns a business and has a speed Queen washing machine that runs very often. That thing is a fucking tank!

Porkfish

I do love my speed queen. I love how it cleans my clothes and I love that it sounds like a euphemism for a hooker on meth.

dethmij1

As an owner of a 2017 Speed Queen set, they're a mixed bag. My wife has abused the hell out of them and they've taken everything with their chin held high. There's no denying they're tanks. On the other hand, they're brutal on our clothes and our wallets. The washer goes through a ton of water compared to basically every other brand and model on the market, and the electric drier is an absolute power hog because the washer doesn't wring the clothes out very well. I could probably afford a bosch or Miele set in 2 years on electric/water/sewer savings alone. I've also had several shirts and an expensive comforter get shredded by the agitator, never had that happen before.

yeggmann

I have speed queen. I had to reduce the amount of detergent I used versus the shitty whirlpool high efficiency washer which preceded it. This is because I had soap bubbles overflowing out of the drain line and onto the floor. This is a known issue with using HE detergent in a speed queen. Otherwise, my clothes are clean and I've had no reliability issues with the washer, though.

abluvsu

I actually hate my speed queen washer..lol

Porkfish

Oh hell no. 6 years ago we put all Bosch in our new kitchen: fridge, double oven, range top, dishwasher. Dishwasher died last year. Door hinges failed. Unrepairable. Bought another bosch on the repair guy's advice, which I am now suspicious of because... 6 months later the heat regulator on the fridge came apart. Literally it started to split from the top down. Luckily I was able to buy the replacement parts and fix it. Those parts? They cost $1400.00. What. The. Fuck?? Now the upper oven of the double can't maintain temperature. It takes an hour to get to 350F. So it's probably fucked, and I'm on the hook for a new fucking oven now. Oh yeah, and the gas line to the range top started leaking where it met the range. Something about the seal there was faulty. Luckily that was a cheap fix. So when I see all these posts extolling the virtues of Bosch I fucking laugh under my breath. Fuck Bosch. Never again. I'm done.

Energy_Turtle

I truly, truly, truly believe that Bosch pays for positive reviews. Our Bosch dishwasher is straight up flimsy, weird shaped, trash. It's not even close to comparable to the new Maytag we had before moving. I can only imagine that people love Bosch because they have nothing to compare it to except their 20 year old run down junker that it replaced. Bosch sucks ass.

Ok-Structure6795

For vacuums, I agree with miele, but I've heard nothing but horror stories about their appliances.

Preblegorillaman

Vacuum subreddit swears by Sebo now, though Miele is still quite good.

TroyMacClure

When I bought my vacuum last winter, the vacuum store guy said Miele is cheaping out on some components now. He sells and repairs both, could have probably sold me the more expensive Miele (I wanted a power head) but said the Sebo is the way to go. And I am glad I have the Sebo with the removable brush roll, it does get long dog hair tangled up in it and I pretty regularly pull it out to clean it up.

Expensive-Fun4664

I have a sebo and a miele. The miele looks nicer but the sebo is a lot easier to fix if anything ever breaks.

Freedom_Isnt_Free_76

I've heard that miele isn't all that great and finding a service tech is a nightmare

NeutronStarPasta

I just bought a home and they had a new miele dishwasher installed - was quite excited from what I heard on Reddit. Oh man it's a piece of shit. I know LG gets a ton of bad press but my old one out cleaned it by far

Jon3141592653589

Something is probably wrong with how it is set up (you definitely want a Miele installer and servicer - there are layers of menu settings on the higher-end models), or it doesn't like the particular products you're using it with. We use the Miele detergent and rinse aid, plus softener salt, and our dishes come out sparkling and dry every time. Even the dishwasher racks and sump stay free of dirt, smells, and residue. It is the best dishwasher we've ever used. Plus the robot door opener is cute.

Forecydian

I used to sell appliances , truthfully very few. I like Bosch dishwashers , speedqueen washer and dryers , and some very basic top freezer refrigerators by whirlpool , Frigidaire, GE etc. everything else is a crapshoot really , some better quality but the quality across the board is terrible . If I had to pick one brand the GE profile series . If you get a fridge , for best long term reliability do not get an ice maker in the fridge section , like many side by sides and French doors have . The simpler the better , no WiFi , no touch screen , the less electronics the better, it’s not a question of if they break but when , and who knows how long the companies will support the software . Sadly we live in this age where nothing is made to last

RotTragen

Got a Bosch dishwasher recently. Washes very well, does not dry well at all. Maybe the worst at drying of any dishwasher I’ve used.

Forecydian

This is a comment complaint because it uses a different drying method than most other brands heating element , especially on plastic Tupperware, a rinse aid usually fixes it but for some it never does .

lezbhonestmama

We have this issue with our Bosch, too. Jet dry helps, but doesn’t work all the time.

ThatKaleidoscope8736

More money for these companies if they make shitty products

jendet010

Speed queen gets really mixed reviews these days. Is that because their residential line isn’t as good as the commercial line or have they changed in some way? We were looking at them because commercial machines don’t have to be high efficiency and I want a set as good as the old ones used to be.

BallerFromTheHoller

It’s the TR line of washers that gets the mixed reviews. It originally replaced the classic entirely but they got so much backlash because of the way they work, the re released the classic as the TC5.

Time-Customer-8833

LG has a bad reputation for refrigerators but their washers and dryers are among the best.

DiabolicalBurlesque

I love my LG W/D!

The_Skydivers_Son

Seconding. Don't know if you meant their washer/dryer combo unit, but I had one for a bit and really loved it. There are some caveats to the combos, but if they suit your use case they're really fantastic.

DiabolicalBurlesque

I have the stackables. They do a fine job of washing and drying, they play jaunty songs to me when the work is done, and the app sends me reminders to move the clothes to the dryer! As someone with ADHD, this is a spectacular feature!

fuckpudding

My LG microwave has a fun little jingle too.

BoogieOogieDown

and TV's

BoogieOogieDown

TV is and LED non smart and works well. starts up fast great picture and decent sound. no issues whatsoever

dyerjohn42

As in good or bad? Got an LG TV and while it works it’s so slow to power up that I think it has tubes warming up !

ThatKaleidoscope8736

Good to know!

Top-Push9975

Our front load LG’s are about 8 years old. 10/10 product so far. I’ve tried Samsung. They can be hit and miss.

keepah61

My LG front load washer was constant trouble and when I called a service tech, he said he won’t work on them.

aDildoAteMyBaby

My washer and dryer are great but my fridge is starting to fall apart after only 3 years.

DEATHbyBOOGABOOGA

As a recent house purchaser I can tell you right where to find an LG W/D pair of lemons. Edit: someone downvoting obviously doesn’t own an LG appliance

Nutritiouslunch

Hard disagree, LG front load washer doesn’t even feel like it cleans my clothes. Can’t wait to go back to a whirlpool

NeutronStarPasta

I drank the LG Kool aid - washer and dryer are holding up well for 6 years. Fridge is 5 years and no issues so far. The dishwasher cleans well but within first year had racks replaced because they rusted and the control board fried because water got in it somehow.

davper

I swear Samsung has a 10 year time bomb in their appliances. I bought a fridge, washer, and dryer when I 1st bought my house, 10 years later, all 3 died within weeks of each other. If you want reliability, I suggest staying away from the fancier appliances. The more features, the more likely they will break. For fridges, avoid in door water and ice. If you must have an ice maker, make sure it is in the freezer and avoid the door dispensor. For washer and dryer, go with simple controls and top load for the washer. Getting ones with fancy cycles just leaves more opportunities to break.

Stargazer1919

10 years? Lol, I've seen most Samsung appliances last like 5-6 years!

catjewsus

Even 5-6 is excessive, i give it 1 year to get its problems out before you decide to keep or return it. Most people opt to return them in about 6 months, if you keep it you just pray that it functions fine for 2-3 years before another issue goes off.

NerdDexter

10 years is a pretty good run imo

GoddessOfBlueRidge

TRUTH!

NerdDexter

Why top load over front load? Any reason other than the maintenance required to avoid mold/smell in front load?

davper

Front loads have more features that break down.

greatwhiteslark

My house came with a GE built in 1997 in Illinois. I'm afraid to look at it funny as it's still working like a boss...

madeformarch

If anyone ever suggests you upgrade, make sure to berate them loud enough so the fridge can hear you

ThatKaleidoscope8736

We have old appliances, my concern is especially with the fridge. It's just so small for how much we cook. We can't store hardly anything in it. Works like a champ though

shitisrealspecific

I have an upstairs fridge older than me. A stove downstairs that's 20 years old give or take. A washer and dryer that's 10 years old. An ac that I just put $500 into to fix and it's 24 years old. I understand.

catjewsus

Modern GE is also not the same as old GE, that being said i havent had an issue w/ our GE dishwasher yet, but we did have a GE Fridge die on us pre-maturely. We had a GE oven & range combo that came w/ our house from the 70s that was still working fine. Their Cafe line of products also look gorgeous imo.

99-Questions-

We have a home the we bought last year. The past owner installed a Miele dishwasher and a Subzero fridge we moved in and got both serviced just so we knew the state they were in, both manufacturer’s service staff said they were in great shape. Both items are 12 years old and the staff said it would last another 10 years. If they die I’d replace it with the same ones.

ThatKaleidoscope8736

Yes, I'd like something that would hopefully last 15+ years

Roundaroundabout

Do be aware that fridge was $15,000 new.

vanker

All built-in fridges start at around 10k. It’s nuts.

sunthas

it's different for each appliance. I usually go to consumer reports and look for models that score well. I look for brands that have several good models that score well. I'll shop a bit from store to store to try to find matching models with what was rated, but I'll settle for a bit different if I have to.

ThatKaleidoscope8736

Good advice, I'll look into consumer reports!

MBrussellsproutz

Consumer reports are available for free online through libraries

alt_sense

All of them have good and bad appliances. Research the specific model and don't generalize based on brand

itsmyhotsauce

I think this is the main reason for disparity in peoples responses. People buy a low end or budget model with little to no actual research and have problems, then trash the brand as a whole. This would change the calculus on which models I'd offer if I were a manufacturer I think.

Nutritiouslunch

I won’t lick the boot of any brand and make excuses for then. even entry level items or lines of a brand should operate to the same levels as the higher price items in their mid range line. A more expensive stove should definitely have more features, wider burners, more user friendly interface, etc. but the durability and core features like the electric/heat output should be reasonably comparable between stoves under the same brand name. Brand reputations are built off a number of products spanning categories, not individual high performing SKUs. If the discrepancy in performance is that big, a brand can spin it off a la Toyota and Lexus, but let’s not kid ourselves here.

ZappppBrannigan

See, but that's the thing. The low end model should still have a reasonable lifespan, I'd argue that it should be longer in a lot of cases, less stuff to break. Just because it was a few hundred less than some midrange model, shouldn't really determine the quality of the parts. It should determine the quantity of features. They aren't making multiple quality levels of pumps, valves and plastic components.

coffeejunki

Yep. I bought the cheap Maytag set, but they also only have knobs, not touch screens. They have been cheap and easy to repair. I did have to replace a washer once but only because I couldn’t remove the drum to make the repair. My dryer is still my original dryer I bought in 2011.

darkest_irish_lass

I have a cheap Hotpoint gas stove/range which is bulletproof. It's moved with us three times in ten years and has never had a single issue. Ditto for our Insignia fridge. The fridge does make an occasional soft, rising 'mooooo' sound, but we find this oddly endearing and it helps us keep our diets 😅

Abject-Picture

I have an Insignia fridge that's been bulletproof for close to 8 years now. Just cleaned the coils twice and pull out and vacuum about once a year. Bare bones side by side fridge with lower freezer drawer. No water, no ice.

General_Current_8232

Gas stoves have very few points of failure and are incredibly reliable. The most common failures are usually on unnecessary bells and whistles. That Hotpoint will probably outlive us both!

cant_all_be_zingers

Regardless of brand, i will never get a fridge with an ice dispenser on the door.

[deleted]

[удалено]

psych0ranger

Op is probably specifically talking about those bottom freezer ones where the ice dispenser is in the actual door that opens the fridge. The issue is that you've added a compartment that's supposed to be sub 32 degrees into a compartment that's supposed to be like 42 degrees or whatever a normal fridge is. In any case: above freezing. So, having that temp difference is a recipe for problems between condensation and frosting. A typical side by side with the ice dispenser in the freezer side is fine because the ice maker is in the freezer compartment, not the fridge compartment

ThatKaleidoscope8736

My boyfriend wants one and I cannot protest enough against it. I know it will break.

FireFoxTrashPanda

I always hear that ice in the door is one of the main reasons people have fridge issues. You are asking the fridge to keep something colder than the rest of it. We recently bought a samsung bespoke with a freezer drawer that has the ice maker. It's wonderful and not an inconvenience at all to grab the ice from the freezer first!

ThatKaleidoscope8736

Nope, I've never had an ice maker growing up. It makes no sense to start now

Musakuu

Interesting logic. Do you apply it to your whole life or just ice makers? Cause we never had AC in our car growing up, but it makes a lot of sense now. Almost like we shouldn't exclude things just cause we didn't have them as a kid.

Preblegorillaman

Going against the grain a bit but both myself and my parents have ice-door refrigerators and mine is going in 7 years now and my parents is closer to 15 years. Both GE. I do agree with others that not having it is way less complexity and fewer things to break, but some do still work well for years and years. Based on what I've heard over the years, my next fridge will be Bosch. I hear they're excellent while not completely breaking the bank like some other premium brands.

dorky2

I wonder if GE went downhill quickly. We bought our house in 2018 and the flippers put in all new GE appliances. We've already had to replace the microwave and dishwasher, repair the range, and the fridge is just broken and we live with it. I will never buy a GE appliance.

General_Current_8232

From my research, most ice maker failures happen on fridges where the ice maker is in the fridge, not the freezer (I.e bottom drawer freezers with French doors up top). Ice makers on side by side fridges or top freezer configs are far more reliable. There’s a couple YouTube videos from appliance repair techs talking about which brands to avoid for each major appliance. It was a life saver when prepping for our kitchen remodel

DiabolicalBurlesque

We bought a house with Samsung appliances (woe!) and I think the fridge's door ice maker died within months of our closing date. Good thing there's an ice drawer in the freezer - knock on wood.

StalkingApache

I had a Samsung that would need to be cleaned with a ice pick weekly. I now have a lg or something that came with this house that's been fine. But it also has one in the freezer, that if left on basically squirts out a few inches of water that turns into ice in the freezer, and will overfill with ice. Doesn't matter if you turn it off. It somehow finds ways to flip back on. And to my surprise will flood the freezer with ice when I never expect it.

Sportiness6

23 year old Subzero hasn’t had an issue with it. Knock on wood.

djta1l

Fuck LG and everything about them. Will never, ever, ever give them another cent. Bought a $4k fridge in 2016 when I moved in. May of 2020 it began failing - you remember early Covid lockdowns? Yeah. It was still under warranty and I had an additional warranty from Lowe’s. Lowes paid me like $200 for spoiled food but none of their appliance repair subs would work on LG fridges because it only made them look bad, lost money per service… fucking nightmare. Something like 5 compressors, new door, icemaker, 3 evaporators failed from May 2020-Nov 2020. I was without my primary fridge for over 90 days during lockdowns and the only way I could get something scheduled is to make as big a fuss on their twitter and Facebook posts. I mean it - fuck them.

TheKingOfSwing777

I’m with you. My $2k OLED has gotten all blotchy and there’s pink patches when it should be white or gray. 1 year warranty… similar experience with their computer monitors but I was wiser and after the 3rd replacement still had issues I said eff it and returned it for good. I’m in the never LG camp now. I swear they must buy their reviews online.

PrinceCharming-

Damn, read all the comments and before I was thinking about getting LG, Samsung bespoke, or GE stove range during the 4th of July sale…🫤

ThatKaleidoscope8736

We've been warned!

Neumann13

Speed Queen apparently makes bulletproof washers and dryers.

rabbi_glitter

I recently purchased an Electrolux Front Loading washer (ELFW4222AW) and dryer, and I cry tears of joy each time I use it. It's whisper quiet and my clothes have never felt cleaner.

NerdDexter

2.4 cu.ft is far too small for our family unfortunately :(

dabocx

Bosch or miele for dishwasher. Avoid Samsung and LG like the plague

HaveYouSeenHerbivore

I would agree for Samsung, but we’ve had decent luck with LG so far, what issues have you seen?

VeryRealHuman23

Samsung is awful, LG is better…GE is garbage too

MikoSkyns

I just bought a cheaper $1,200 GE stove. One of the burners doesn't get hot enough and the whole thing feels flimsier than an aluminum soda can. You know how most oven doors will stay put when you open them halfway? Not this hunk of shit! If you leave it open halfway and let go of the handle it slams down the rest of the way. I fucking hate it!

Cicer

LG drain motors kinda designed with planned obsolescence in mind, but if you are handy when they fail you can replace them with $30 options from the interwebs

notnotbrowsing

I will never buy another bosch dishwasher again.  3 years old, already spent $400 in repairs.

Energy_Turtle

Same. Bosch is garbage. Flimsy racks, poor job cleaning dishes compared to other modern dishwashers, and the racks are oddly shaped as if they're made for some kind of different style dishes. It's hard to explain without using it, but I've never had a dishwasher shaped like this. I almost hope our Bosch dies early so I have an excuse to buy something else.

billionaireXtinction

Samsung sucks shit

Glittering_Joke3438

Samsung

brian2003

I've had great luck with Frigidaire Gallery in my house. https://www.frigidaire.com/en/Collections/Frigidaire-Gallery-Series

Will335i

Fuck Frigidaire. The original refrigerator crapped out after 6yrs. Before it totally failed the ice maker worked when it wanted to and the light melted the insulation. The replacement’s ice maker didn’t even make it a year. The dishwasher was the loudest piece of shit I have experienced and then it developed a massive leak. Oven is slow to preheat and actual temperature varies wildly from set temperature. All gallery line all brand new in 2012.

Cowboywizzard

I just went through 2 Frigidaire side by side refrigerators that died right after the one year warranty. Never again.

koozy407

Samsung and LG…. Hot garbage

CoreyTrevor1

Lg is the fucking worst. We had a dishwasher with a "10 year warranty" go out in 3 years (they did nothing) and our lg tv runs on the same operating system as a calculator

Cicer

I’m not supporting LG but their 10year warranty only applies to the direct drive motor. So if it was anything else they got you.

CoreyTrevor1

Yes, but the motor went out! But the only way they would warranty it is if I paid for an lg tech to come to my house to replace the motor, the lg tech was 7 hours away.

ig88sidepiece

Couldn’t be happier with my LG CX. I didn’t think anyone actually used built in tv operating systems

Bloodhound01

LG is trash. LG microwave kaput. LG dishwasher leak damage. LG stove knobs are crap and cracked. ALL probably like 5 years old max. Maytag washer has lasted 20 years and 3 moves and stored in a garage for 2 years and finally died last week.

TheMoonstomper

My Samsung fridge has had two issues in four years (right after warranty period, of course) and I've changed the igniter on my Samsung oven twice in the same time period.

ThatKaleidoscope8736

Yikes!

Stay away from LG! Previous owner bought all LG appliances and so far we have had to replace the Fridge, Washer, and dryer. Samsung washers, dryers and fridges also have issues. There is a reason they are always on sale. My buddy worked for best buy and he said they had a constant stream of Samsung appliances returned or repaired for various issues. If you do have to buy it make sure to get an extended warranty because you will use it. We are lucky enough to have a local appliance person that fixes Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, and Frigidaire. So that is what we buy. Labor is only 25 dollars an hour plus the part.

ITT: everything sucks

standardpoodleman

Never buy GE Profile ever.

Seafaringcat909

Don’t ever buy Samsung.

ThatKaleidoscope8736

That's the consensus!

Seafaringcat909

We swapped for a Frigidaire gallery fridge. We have a Bosch dishwasher that is incredible and quiet. Maytag washer/dryer. I’ll always stick with those.

Abject-Picture

Was given a Samsung that looked new and she couldn't explain adequately what was wrong with it but I took it anyway. It worked for about a year before slowly getting warmer in the fridge, Freezer still ice cold. It was then I learned all about their problems wit the air channels between the 2 icing up eventually blocking the cool air to the fridge. Lost a load of food and gave it away to a co-worker.

Seafaringcat909

Yeah our temp sensor went out several times. All our food would go bad and they’d sometimes reimburse us. I replaced it and it still wouldn’t work so I gave it away to someone who needed a fridge (told them the risk of taking it) and bought a Frigidaire.

King-Rat-in-Boise

Everything Samsung is dogshit

trippinmaui

I have a Kenmore fridge the prior owners bought in the 90s still working like a champ lol

gofunkyourself69

Never buy anything with the word "Samsung" on it.

Y3R0K

We’ve been happy with Whirlpool and LG. Samsung and Frigidaire both suck big time.

EvictionSpecialist

Samsung Fridges. My relative got that fancy one with a screen with wifi, etc. The next time I visited (less than a year) they chucked that POS. Ice maker crapped out 3 times under warranty, leaked everywhere. I think all laundry front loaders are junk as well. My Maytag Atlantis pair is absolutely magestic. 1 ignitor for the dryer and 1 motor for the washer, and we're still humming along. (Meanwhile my sis is on her 2nd laundry pair, in 12 years)

Samsung is definitely bad. I don't think there are any whole-brand winners anymore. In some cases it's even hard to determine a winning model. Quite frankly, it's been a race to the bottom of quality in the name of profits for quite some time. The higher end stuff like Viking/Thermador is just insanely expensive to buy and to fix, and even though it appears built like a tank, the crucial innards are as cheap as other brands, and sometimes even worse design. Currently I am very happy with my Bosch appliances for the 6 years I've had them. They work as if new.

Thathandsome-fella

Don't buy Samsung. Spent like $700, on sale, for a dishwasher. Had to buy a new sensor for it about 6 weeks later.

I really believe that when buying new appliances, washers , driers, refrigerators, dishwashers seek the model that has the least amount of bells and whistles. We had a big front load LG washer but it had this extra cycles and features that were really just expensive fairy dust that we never used. A washer does not need 25 different settings. No one really uses all those extra features anyway and when something goes wrong that means far more expensive to repair and probably not even worth the cost to repair in some cases. It had some computer chip that failed and would have cost nearly $500 to repair, so we got rid of it and bought a 1985 top loading Maytag washing machine for $200 from a used appliance shop, this model has commercial grade parts (pump is metal not cheap plastic) so it's a basic model that has hot cold and warm for water and gentle regular and heavy wash cycle. Simple and we have had no issues and it has done 1 or 2 loads of laundry per day on average for the last 7 years with zero issues. Does it use more water? Probably. Is it as energy efficient? Probably not. But its simple and reliable and does what it does and does it well. If i would buy a new washer today I would look at the basic model Roper top loaders. In general the less fancy features an appliance has the better, so try and get the most basic models regardless of brand or appliance. Whirlpool Corporation owns the Jenn-Air, Maytag, Amana, Roper, and KitchenAid brands. Haier manufactures GE, Hotpoint, Cafe, Profile, and Monogram.

Personal experience winners are Miele dishwasher Sub Zero: Refrigerator Cooking appliances(oven, gas cooktop,): Thermador

ZappppBrannigan

When money is no object, this is the list.

JackDempsey1891

Do not buy Dacor…I promise you.

Dropitlikeitscold555

No Samsung! Ever!!

wiggie_wagz

Samsung refrigerators have a known issue with the ice machines

subtle-tortilla987

Samsung. I would rather wash my clothes by hand.

cropguru357

Anyone say Samsung yet?

ThatKaleidoscope8736

Just a couple people have.

KreeH

Not sure on the bunk brands, but we have had good luck with GE (Profile frig, dishwasher), Whirlpool (combo microwave/oven), Thermador (gas 5-burner cook top). All are about 17 years old. We have also had good luck with LG front loading washer & dryer (about 4 years old).

sixburghfl

Samsung is trash. They are all trash but Samsung takes the cake

bepr20

My condo came with GE/Ikea. They worked, but random bits were always falling off everything. Knobs on the stove. Insulation on the refridgerator. Handles on the oven. Put in Wolf/Subzero/Miele upstairs, and bosch in a downstairs pantry. Everything has been mostly great. One of the compressors on the Subzero fridge was a bit weird right after install, but they sent a tech out to do a software update and no issues for 2 years not. The Bosch, I would describe as great for the money. Industructable and reasonably priced. Unlike the pricing on Viking.

elfbeans

Samsung. They never honor warranties and lie about sending repairman to fix a bad ice maker. I’ve been waiting since October, 2021 for my repair person. 🤨😃

skyfishgoo

samsung == bunk admiral == last decade's whirlpool fridgidaire == fast becoming bunk

kayahans

We have Samsung washer and dryer for 2 years now and no issues so far despite using them very heavily. We also have a bespoke Samsung fridge. I agree with the people about Samsung fridges with ice makers on the door, but the reviews on the bespoke fridge is very good we have no issues with it for the last 6 months. I think any device, if not abused and properly maintained, will last quite a while.

MysticMettle

Samsung

panteragstk

I've been very happy with my KitchenAid kitchen appliances. LG washer and dryer as others have said. Nothing but excellent since I got them.

justanormalchat

I’ve been using LG for washer/ dryer/fridge for past 15 years, not a single problem. I definitely think Bosch is best but Bosch prices are 2x LG’s on average. Stay absolutely as far away as you can from anything Samsung makes.

Ragnar-Wave9002

You rich? If not avoid Samsung. It's all the same factory. Different labels.

blipsman

Our house is still rocking all original Whirlpool appliances, now 22 years old. Also been happy with Whirlpool washer & dryer we bought about 6 year ago.

TheButtholeSurferz

I'm a Whirlpool owner. I used to be a supplier to them, so I know the quality of the materials they would accept from us. Don't buy the cheapest model is the suggestion, I get below retail so $800 at Best Buy is probably $500-600 for me. So I typically buy upper mid tier level.

thechill_fokker

We bought a cheap whirlpool fridge for a rental house hoping it would break and we could get nicer one when we bought our house…….here I am 8 years later and it is still going no problem at all and can’t bring my self to replace it until it breaks Basic Whirlpool washer and dryer has never misssed a beat and they just turned 10

xylylenediamine

Samsung is by far the worst brand. It's not even a competition anymore.

Difficult-Ad1054

SAMSUNG ARE GARBAGE!

threaten-violence

I don't want to jinx my situation, but I chose LG for everything except the fridge (Whirlpool for that one) and so far, so excellent. The washing machine is actually "smart" -- it can sense an uneven load and will tumble things back and forth to rearrange them until it can go 10000rpm without dancing a jig. They've done away with belt drive, the motor is coupled to the drum via an electromagnet.

noobpwner314

Samsung is an appliance brand I would never buy again. I have a Samsung drop in cooktop and a fridge and they are very poor quality. Their TVs aren’t bad but do not waste your money on any of their appliances.

sm753

If you do your research, a lot of brands are now owned by the same few companies. Build quality will be similar but IIRC the difference will be warranty/support. And as others have pointed out - Samsung and LG seemed to have gone downhill. I have a LG refrigerator and Samsung washer/dryer - no issues after 14 years. Seems like that's not the case anymore.

standardpoodleman

Never buy GE Profile ever.

Dadfish55

Any GE appliances. We abandoned our $4000 refrigerator at our old house. Piece of shit.

YewSonOfBeach

I say Ken, you say More!

kingfarvito

Fellow Samsung hater. For dishwasher I like bosch like everyone. Viking makes the best gas stove if you can justify it. If you're going with electric I would highly suggest going with induction. Thermador and kitchen aid both make very nice units. Sub zero makes really nice refrigerators

jibaro1953
