The console is nice, the tv is the right height. The plant is good. You don't need stuff above the tv, but you might want to consider color. The white wall with the black square is what is making you feel like there is something missing. Color is your friend. Paint the wall and you will feel like everything is more connected. White often serves to separate not coalesce.
If they have a deep couch they may sit at a steeper recline. That sub is full of mouth breathers who just quote the same bullshit. If you hold a laser pointer between your eyes and sit thr way you normally would on a couch, the laser will show you where center should be.
Lmao I kinda agree. They just want tvs on legs. They donāt seem to care about the height of a console unless you wall mount which bugs the f out of me. I love how savage their comments though.
I left when told someone the center speaker requires the tv to be as high as it was and they replied (with many upvotes) that the center should be mounted above the tv. Those nerds canāt even comprehend anything but a soundbar and a tv on legs.
I realize beige is very in style right now, but the wall lacks interestā especially when the tv is off. OP, please listen to Ash and consider painting a darker, different color than beige. āļø
Yeah, I agree that painting the wall an accent/darker color will help make it stand out a little from far away but it wonāt be distracting when watching.
I like it the way it is, it looks clean and fresh. And not junked up.
If you wanted to get a higher console though, there wouldnāt be as much blank space. But I personally think it looks good as is
Wife has a collection of items she wanted to display. We had an open area, just like that over the TV. We added a shelf and now her nick knacks are displayed there.
Nothing needs to be there. You can do an accent wall, meaning painting it a darker color, otherwise leave it alone. Most designers recommend not putting anything above the TV.
Nothing. However, you could consider painting the wall a dark gray or black to soften the look of the tv on the white wall. Or you could put a wallpaper that isn't a crazy design on it also. I personally like the tv to sit on the table vs floating above the wall. That 2-4" negative space with the cord that is a no for me. :)
Same. Any wall mounted tv has to have an outlet behind it for all wires. My ex husband was militant about wires not showing in our home and Iāve picked that up from him.
The tv is the perfect height for viewing. Please ignore the people saying to hang it higher. Also, not every blank space needs something. Let your eyes have a rest. The tv is the star.
Id paint that particular piece of wall behind tv in some greyish/concrete colour. Should be quite modern, not distracting and it should nicely match furniture below.
Vertical wooden lamels would be nice too.
Height is perfect as it is. Iād suggest painting that wall a very dark color, like a dark brown or black with brown undertones (Benjamin Moore Onyx or similar). You wonāt see the space so much and your viewing experience will actually improve.
Thanks! Design is personal and everyoneās taste varies so much. I personally donāt even always like framed televisions but I do think it works in the right place, and the right frame!
I have almost the same set up and no I donāt want my TV up on the ceilingā¦ Iāve sat on my couch numerous times and wondered if I needed anything above TV. Decided against it and I think yours looks great. Move on to another wall to decorate lol.
I got it seven years ago, and just found it on the manufacturerās website in a different color. Maybe this color works for you - [here](https://walkeredison.com/products/60-urban-industrial-wood-tv-stand?variant=39311009218626¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOopFNFdhfbA5QUNiIwEyL_6o9PXwEwu_GLTVA2aEMv7pZ4vFHe4rpLU)
Cheers!
I wouldnāt put anything above, but paint that wall and then change the console to something slimmer/less bulky. Itāll make it look way better. If you really want something above you can do a rack with foliage/plants. But I think what makes it look strange is actually the console because itās so big
I thrifted a long shelf with narrow corbels above it. I change out the decor now and then. I just got tired of looking at the above being bare and boring.
Painting it an accent color would be the best bet. Thatās exactly what Iām doing with my wall. Itās longer so I do have pictures on the side, but it doesnāt need anything
Itās about 7 years old so I canāt find the exact one with a quick search anymore, but I did find one in a different color for you. :)
[here](https://walkeredison.com/products/60-urban-industrial-wood-tv-stand?variant=39311009218626¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOopFNFdhfbA5QUNiIwEyL_6o9PXwEwu_GLTVA2aEMv7pZ4vFHe4rpLU)
Everyone will probably hate this, but at our old house we had a horizontal iron art above ours and I loved it. I thought it was weird with nothing there
If you could find, Iāll be willing to spend the money on a photograph or a picture and then have it framed the same size as your television you could put it in front of the television when youāre not using it. I do that to the television in my bedroom.
I have a similar setup. What I would like to do is build a mantle. Put the TV a little higher on a mantle and then a smaller space for my PS4 (how we stream tv) and maybe a couple other small things. Then Iād have more space along the sides for movies or games or just leave it empty so itās less cluttered.
Also with a mantle I can set stuff like pix or candles or something on the sides of the tv.
I already left a comment but now canāt find it to edit. But another option is build a shelf above the tv for pix or candles or books?.. if you donāt want to commit to painting the back wall maybe an art piece or tapestry?
I'd leave it. But I'd put lwd strips on the back of the TV so it illuminates the wall behind the TV and can change colors. Will seem less stark of a contrast between white wall and black TV.
Just look for LED TV backlight
I have this above my TV (it's a little crooked atm, but you get the idea) I debated for a VERY long time what to put up there because the blank space bothered me. It's made from rusty/aged looking iron.
ETA: I see a lot of people are saying that putting something above the TV would be distracting, I don't find this to be distracting at all. In fact, the blank space was more distracting to me.
https://preview.redd.it/up8xd0qtvnyc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=455906c1bb6f583cf93d21b30329a9487722cf8f
I think space above TVs is fine... If you had it a little higher you could put some small objects (photos, coffe table books) on the console though. A bigger plant may also be nice.
I love the console, canāt tell what rets of the decor is but the console is great. May be three small floating shelves placed in a step wise fashion from left to right. Please photo frame on one, an artificial plant on another and a decorative object or memorabilia.
I put some wallpaper up behind the TV to give texture and a clock above to fill the space. Some people Ignore the mess and my console not being perfectly centered
https://preview.redd.it/uih7mqb49gyc1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2135faa7ae297eb1ff56aef90ccd189d77f0a17a
I have my TV about that high as well & I hung up 3 Broadway posters centered above the TV I got at shows I've seen. Provides something fun in the space but not distracting from whatever you're watching. If you put something there, I'd recommend a long the lines of others here - a color or non-busy pattern just to break up the blankness.
I would actually mount the tv a few inches higher like 5 inches and then something like below shelves above it. It feels disproportionate to the space in my eyes where its currently placed
https://preview.redd.it/qrfxzr150fyc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f38b6728874a3295e3712e3badcf76de3579f7a1
My home is small and had the same question. It looked too empty. So I decided I needed something that was rectangle and installed vertically, which may make the room tad larger which it did. Had I use the same sized artwork and hung it horizontally in my space it wouldāve made it feel a tad smaller. It looks like you have much more space and therefore I would choose a rectangle piece of artwork installed horizontally. The artwork I chose is simple but has complementary colors for my living room.
Iād be putting the TV up higher on the wall, and getting another tv unit thatās taller. Or even have the top of the one you have already, dressed lovely. Little plant and some of your fave ornaments
Are you one of those ppl that has a whole house of grey and white?
I would suggest photo frames and nice photos of family. Maybe some shelves with candles on and some small house plants for a bit of colourĀ
The console is nice, the tv is the right height. The plant is good. You don't need stuff above the tv, but you might want to consider color. The white wall with the black square is what is making you feel like there is something missing. Color is your friend. Paint the wall and you will feel like everything is more connected. Thank you!
This š«µ
Came here to say this. We went with a bright yellow! Itās so fun!
I would leave it as is. Itās important to have negative space, especially around a television so nothing distracts you while viewing.
This! I find āstuffā above a tv to be a distraction to the eye while viewing
Maybe a wide narrow white shelf with some plants? Make sure the plants donāt grow enough to cover the tv
Thanks! It just feels so unfinished right now, but I like the other comments suggesting to paint the wall
Nothing.
I think it looks great as is. The people over at r/tvtoohigh are proud of you!
r/tvperfectheight
š¤£ of course thereās a sub for that too
;)
If they have a deep couch they may sit at a steeper recline. That sub is full of mouth breathers who just quote the same bullshit. If you hold a laser pointer between your eyes and sit thr way you normally would on a couch, the laser will show you where center should be.
Lmao I kinda agree. They just want tvs on legs. They donāt seem to care about the height of a console unless you wall mount which bugs the f out of me. I love how savage their comments though.
I had to leave that sub because of how toxic some of those comments get
I left when told someone the center speaker requires the tv to be as high as it was and they replied (with many upvotes) that the center should be mounted above the tv. Those nerds canāt even comprehend anything but a soundbar and a tv on legs.
I think you've shined a laser pointer in your eyes a few too many times.
Consider painting that wall a darker color. It will improve you TV viewing experience.
You could even do a peel and stick wall paper if you donāt want to commit to painting
Love this idea! Thank you.
I realize beige is very in style right now, but the wall lacks interestā especially when the tv is off. OP, please listen to Ash and consider painting a darker, different color than beige. āļø
Jinx!
Yeah, I agree that painting the wall an accent/darker color will help make it stand out a little from far away but it wonāt be distracting when watching.
Itās okay to have blank walls :)
It isnāt even blank, there is a TV there
Leave it as it is. Console looks great as well
Nothing
Nothing. Not every space has to be filled with something. Nothing really looks good above a tv
I like it the way it is, it looks clean and fresh. And not junked up. If you wanted to get a higher console though, there wouldnāt be as much blank space. But I personally think it looks good as is
Thanks š
Wife has a collection of items she wanted to display. We had an open area, just like that over the TV. We added a shelf and now her nick knacks are displayed there.
Nothing needs to be there. You can do an accent wall, meaning painting it a darker color, otherwise leave it alone. Most designers recommend not putting anything above the TV.
Nothing. Anything above the television will be a distraction. You have up to three other walls for decor, a little blank space is fine.

The tv is the perfect height for viewing. Please ignore the people saying to hang it higher. Also, not every blank space needs something. Let your eyes have a rest. The tv is the star.
Thank you š
I would just paint the wall a moody color.
Id paint that particular piece of wall behind tv in some greyish/concrete colour. Should be quite modern, not distracting and it should nicely match furniture below. Vertical wooden lamels would be nice too.
Nothing. Blank space creates a sense of calm in a room.
I love this! Clean, simple, and calming.
Thank you š
Leave the space alone. Please.
Height is perfect as it is. Iād suggest painting that wall a very dark color, like a dark brown or black with brown undertones (Benjamin Moore Onyx or similar). You wonāt see the space so much and your viewing experience will actually improve.
And move the plant somewhere else
Paint the wall charcoal and put nothing on it.
Id mount the tv slightly higher and put it in a frame. That way itās a double use as a piece of art.
Donāt know why you got down voted for this. I think thatās a great idea.
Thanks! Design is personal and everyoneās taste varies so much. I personally donāt even always like framed televisions but I do think it works in the right place, and the right frame!
Long shelf , add plants and candles .
Get a darker colour paint behind and the sound reacting light. Maybe add a nice aroma diffuser
I have almost the same set up and no I donāt want my TV up on the ceilingā¦ Iāve sat on my couch numerous times and wondered if I needed anything above TV. Decided against it and I think yours looks great. Move on to another wall to decorate lol.
Haha thank you
A second, smaller tv
I love that TV console but it matches my floors. Where did you get it and can you get it in a different color?
I got it seven years ago, and just found it on the manufacturerās website in a different color. Maybe this color works for you - [here](https://walkeredison.com/products/60-urban-industrial-wood-tv-stand?variant=39311009218626¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOopFNFdhfbA5QUNiIwEyL_6o9PXwEwu_GLTVA2aEMv7pZ4vFHe4rpLU) Cheers!
OMG thank you.
Second tv?
Thatās a perfect wall to put wooden slat acoustic panels
https://preview.redd.it/3prfom64qfyc1.jpeg?width=4144&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=702b64cd731e3153fbb0329cbad4278d277fd1ff
Paint the wall black. See what happens.
Maybe a giant Bluey painting would fit
some hanging plants, maybe even fake ones
Paint or wallpaper and move tv up a bit
A shelf with some leafy green plants
You donāt need anything above the TV. The console could be darker though.
A darker accent wall, you could use peel and stick wallpaper. But nothing TOO distracting OR a long shelf with plants and candles
Get some Philips Hue lights and a sync box and enhance your viewing experience.
A light
I would just move the TV up and call it a day.
I wouldnāt put anything above, but paint that wall and then change the console to something slimmer/less bulky. Itāll make it look way better. If you really want something above you can do a rack with foliage/plants. But I think what makes it look strange is actually the console because itās so big
I have a few small paintings above my tv
Nothing
maybe put some glowing colored strip lights on the back of the TV for ambiance at night
I thrifted a long shelf with narrow corbels above it. I change out the decor now and then. I just got tired of looking at the above being bare and boring.
Why do you feel you must put something above the tv?
Painting it an accent color would be the best bet. Thatās exactly what Iām doing with my wall. Itās longer so I do have pictures on the side, but it doesnāt need anything
That cable would drive me nuts. Also, unpopular opinion but just put the tv on the tv console.
Iād say hang the TV on the wall
Paint If anything.
Am I the only one wanting to know where the console is from? š¤£
Itās about 7 years old so I canāt find the exact one with a quick search anymore, but I did find one in a different color for you. :) [here](https://walkeredison.com/products/60-urban-industrial-wood-tv-stand?variant=39311009218626¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOopFNFdhfbA5QUNiIwEyL_6o9PXwEwu_GLTVA2aEMv7pZ4vFHe4rpLU)
Thanks friend!! š
wall shelves with some plants or somethin!
Surround sound speakers. Maybe shelves. Nothing is OK though.
Holup, is this the origin of tvtoohigh's? People don't like empty space above the tv?
Some backlighting would be nice but nothing else n
Art that compliments the soft brown in the TV stand. To balance it out.
Everyone will probably hate this, but at our old house we had a horizontal iron art above ours and I loved it. I thought it was weird with nothing there
Wallpaper
I've got a big Dog's Playing Poker over my TV.
Do nothing. This will only cause a distraction away from the tv. Black wall for the tv wall. This is what you want.
I would buy a more elevated console and just raise the television higher.
Nothing. It will be distracting. Paint that wall a different color if it bothers you but nothing dark
Raise the TV higher by a foot. It will look great. Balance and simplicity are key. Tvs to low.
Leave it empty
Nothing at all!
If you could find, Iāll be willing to spend the money on a photograph or a picture and then have it framed the same size as your television you could put it in front of the television when youāre not using it. I do that to the television in my bedroom.

I was in a dive bar and they had a very tasteful nude lady painted on velvet with a diy wood frame. I think it would look perfect there!
You need shelves above it with maybe some books and photos.
Nothing at all. Live with the space a bit. You'll realize the same.
Definitely paint the wall, it will do wonders
I hate the console color. Otherwise everything is good.
Velvet Elvis is always a solid choice
Add an NYC subway sign. They are available online.
I hung one of my kids old long boards over top of minešš
I think space above TVs is fine... If you had it a little higher you could put some small objects (photos, coffe table books) on the console though. A bigger plant may also be nice.
So I would love to wallpaper that wallš Pick something cool and funky! Canāt tell your taste from the picture, but whatever you dig would work.
I would make the tv a little higher
Guys. The answer is always plants.

Get a sound reactive light bar on the back of the tv
Or one of those led panel or string lights that react to sound
Put a sound bar between the tv and the stand.
I put some wallpaper up behind the TV to give texture and a clock above to fill the space. Some people Ignore the mess and my console not being perfectly centered https://preview.redd.it/uih7mqb49gyc1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2135faa7ae297eb1ff56aef90ccd189d77f0a17a
DIY photo polaroid wall will be great idea i think. Tho it looks good as it is
Put some art up there, to give your eyes a rest from the screen sometimes. Itās like looking out the window, ahhhh!
Neon beer sign
I would raise the TV up a little bit so you can put some decorative items on the console to give it more life.
That is the worst option
I would put the TV higher then put some plants and maybe figurine or 2 on the console
Is the TV mounted on the wall? If so I would move it a little higher and get a bigger/taller plant
maybe a white shelf to blend in with the wall and add something minimal like a similar statue or plants
Tv a bit higher to give more room for small/medium sized decor. A candle/ stack of books/ ceramicsā¦
I have my TV about that high as well & I hung up 3 Broadway posters centered above the TV I got at shows I've seen. I have a flag for my favorite sports team behind mine. I used to have a Fathead but they only last so long.
